Hi,
i have two xperia ion with the same problem. When i use GPS for tracking on my bicycle with locusmaps or oruxmaps it alway reboots after a while, it works maybe 30 minutes or one hour but then it reboots. The same with Navigon navigation, always reboot after about 30 minutes. Both smartphones the same problem. Running on Android 4.1.2, i downgraded the phone to ics 4.0.4 but the problem was still the same.
Anybody with a good idea o maybe with the same problem??
Thanks
Peter

Hey guys,
Ever since flashing my Australian (Optus) Xperia arc according to the instructions to root without unlocking bootloader, my Arc have been slow to lock on GPS.
Previously on the official 2.3.2 Optus bloated firmware my GPS locks really fast (like 5 seconds).
Now on the latest 2.3.4 locked bootloader, It takes about 5-10 minutes to lock on, and even after locking on, standing on the same spot outdoors, close google maps, restart google maps and it will take the same 5-10 minutes to lock on again.
Anyone else having the same problem? Even better if there is a solution for it
Thanks
Ryan
Nope, don't have such problem (i've an unbranded arc on latest 2.3.4. with locked bootloader).
You could try downloading a GPS stats program like this one:

and see what's going on.
Hope it works out for you!
Hi everyone,
both my wife and I own a HTC Desire (AMOLED). My wife has had the following problem for a while on her unrooted, stock-ROM Desire:
Every now and then the Handy will suddenly restart (show the HTC boot logo) when using Navigation apps. No matter if Google Maps Navigation or other navigation software. Sometimes, this happens after some seconds, sometimes after an hour or so.
No problems so far with my desire.
Last month, I rooted/s-off'ed both devices, did a full wipe and complete fresh install of all apps of both devices, both running on InsertCoin 1.1.4 now.
On this occasion, I also updated Radio ROM of both phones to 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23 (latest Version so far, I think).
Some days later, my phone now also randomly crashes on GPS navigation use. Both run stable, as long as we do not use GPS navigation.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
It's usually an overheating issue that needs HTC to swap the mainboard

Thanks for your reply, though it's sure not what I wanted to hear (actually, what I wanted to hear is something like "push this button and your problem will be solved", but it's not what I expected .
(On overheating: The phone did never crash on other occasions when becoming warm. After a reboot, when restarting navigation, it does not crash again immediately but may work for hours...not too typical for an overheating problem, is it?)
I think I'll wait 'till spring 2012 and get some Ice Cream Sandwich thing then ;-)
You know the desire has a 2 year warranty though, right??
I've been experiencing issues with the gps for a while. For starters, it takes a long time for the turn by turn navigation to start. Just the other day it kept repeating the same street even though I was no where near that street.
I use Google maps, I removed the att navigation, and I'm using the deodexed rom. fyi.
Anyone else experiencing issues?

So, i'm assuming your Ion is rooted? With stock GB on my Ion, i had some very strange gps related stuff happening for the first few days i owned it. I was constantly losing the ability to go into compass mode in google maps, and once that happened...it would not regain gps signal, it would just constantly 'seek' with the blinking icon. If i didn't mess with it for a few hours, it would come back for a bit...but then get lost again. It wasn't just maps, my tracks app wouldn't get a lock either. However, it was always related to when compass mode simply stopped working.
I dug around a little and found people claiming that the orientation sensors can interfere with gps connectivity, and any compass app will reset that within the phone when you install them. Sounded gimmicky, but it worked (i just downloaded the first free compass i found), and i haven't had a single problem since with GB...and after the ics update so far.
But if you rooted your phone, and it was working fine before, that could be the culprit...and i don't have feedback for that yet, as i haven't rooted yet.
So you just installed a random compass app and the navigation worked?

Hi all
I have problems with GPS. I only have visible 2 - 8 satelites (best case 8, usually less than 5) and fix catch 4-5 satellites, but it's too difficult to fix and stay fixed...
I'm playing ingress and this problem is killing my game experience xD
I try a lot of fixes like this
I'm from spain. Any idea?
Thanks!
any rom reccomended for gps working properly? :/
Has anyone figured this out yet? This is infuriating. I had it reboot twice in 30 min with my stock ROM, so I had OP support "wipe" it, and reload the OS. After that, the GPS was all ****ed up so I said screw it and rooted it.
30 min into my drive into work today, it REBOOTED while running CM13 nightly and using Waze.
Charging doesn't change the outcome, bluetooth, etc. etc.
I am about to throw this phone out and get a pixel
never had this problem with MAPS.ME.
which navigations apps cause the problem?
I've been using Waze and Google Maps. It is totally random. Sometimes it won't happen for a week then all the sudden it reboots 4 times in a row.
Are you maybe using Xposed + n-ify?
The only time I had issues when using google maps navigation was when using n-ify.
Other than that, I used tha OP3 as a navigator for hours on our last scotland trip
and occasionally the last couple days without any issues.
No xposed or n-ify
+1.
I am using BJRR rom, which is also CM based.
But this problem is not persistent. Sometimes I can driver 1 hour without problem, but it could also happen within 15 minutes after I start driving.
I thought switching back to stock ROM can solve the problem, but I feel lucky that I haven't done that because it seems also to be an issue in stock, at least some of us has.
i had random restarts on 3.2.6 and 3.2.7 with root and exposed during navigation.
about 2 weeks ago switched to tesla n -- no reboots.
I have the same issue. It happens very randomly and in all roms I've used. (only marshmallow based) Usually after couple of hours of navigation either the phone reboots or looses GPS signal and only way to restore GPS lock is to reboot.
