Android 5.0 Jelly Bean

Looks like 5.0 Jelly Bean will be coming soon but will out phones even run 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ? Who knows.
Of course 5.0 is aimed at larger devices but it will probably be ported to any device the developers see fit to port to.

Yeah scrap the Android 4 AOSP petition.
Lets make it Android 4 Sense this time and then Android 5 AOSP.
We can also send a petition to Qualcom to make and release a code to make the Desire processor dual core.

ICS is running fairly decently on Desire and Nexus One I'd say - still bugs but there's massive progress

we all cant wait until ICS is 100% working will be the day we all fall in love with our Desire again

I am amazed how smooth the ICS ASOP Rom is. But I'm back to Gingerbread and I don't think I'll update to 5.0 any time. I bought the Desire nearly two years ago right at the beginning and the development during this time was great.
IMHO it isn't necessary to update a two year old device to the newest os version.

I want ICS to work on the Desire. HTC still love it. They're just too lazy to get working software on older hardware.

Why not, why not. One reason more to work on 3.x kernel.

I showed someone who moved to WinPho the other day my desire running ICS and he said it was like a whole new phone....

Yeah its amazing it runs at all. But if you try ics then go back to a good GB rom, you're amazed in retrospect, just how slow ICS was.

So the next one is K. Most people believe it will be called Key Lime Pie (4.2 or 5.0?). There is also a chance it could be called Kandy Kane (due to the candy cane appearing in the Jelly Bean easter egg when tapping "About Phone" repeatedly) but Key Lime Pie seems a lot more likely.

I hope Key Lime would be more of an update then ICS to JB.

What are you talking about? They completely redesigned android with ICS in December of 2011. Changing the OS would just cause more fragmentation and interrupt the UI guidelines for applications.

Project Roadrunner would be enough for me... but from what I've seen there's the pretty big things going into it

sorry I should have used different words (happens wen u r a noob haha) but I would like more of a change in the functionality of the OS not a complete different OS. But any update is better then none. I'm still greatly happy for JellyBean!!!!

Im not sure what Project Runway is and it wouldn't matter to me if they didn't come with a new os for a bit of time. Like the other member said ICS just came out December 2011.Plus we are struggling to get JellyBean now so im not looking for a new os until 2014 when my contract is up haha

I'm personally in favor of KY Jelly like above but..
In the Easter Egg on JB, a Candy Cane pops up out of nowhere.
Chances are fairly good it eludes to the next os being called Kandy Kane.

I thought it was going to be Kilos of Koke. I guess I was way off.

It looks like our phone, along with the other galaxy s2 lineup will not receive the official 4.2.2 update.

That sucks. Galaxy S2 Plus users got an official update for 4.2.2 a few weeks back.

Old news. Would not be surprised if the international Exynos SII gets the update, but Qualcomm does not support 4.2 on our aged S3 chipset.

Keeping up with so many version
I choose to keep 4.2.2 until stable version of 4.3 is available. I hate trying new ones when so many things don't work. I feel for the developers who have to keep pace and do so much work. Very appreciated! :good:

I have been using 4.3 ROMs for a few days now with no issue. Is there anything in particular that doesn't work that I'm unaware of?

If they "didn't work" the devs would take them down or not put them up in the first place. Are there some bugs here and there? Yes. Read the threads for those.

Of course. I was just wondering if there were any kernel limitations or major bugs that were not ROM specific, or just in CM10.2.

I am not waiting for 4.2.2 tw. The only thing better about tw is the camera app, but it is a phone so it not like we are getting get pics anyway. Running carbon 4.3, very stable and smooth.

I'm curious how it is that we have to many custom 4.2.2 rom for the Hercules, yet the graphics driver is not supported?? Did Cyanogen and other rom developers somehow find a way to port the old Qualcomm drivers to other versions of android? Or are we just using the previous 4.1.2 drivers somehow. Either way the statement that the update is somehow incompatible with our device is purely garbage. Truth be told, it is simply a way to sell more devices, at least it is for those who are not willing to flash custom ROMs. For the rest of us there is 4.3 on a device that began as a gingerbread device, which is awesome. Now bring on the KitKat, because I'm sure our device can rock some 4.4 just as well.

Not a dev so these questions are over my head, but I am curious about the answers as well. And if they Key lime pie (kitkat) rumors are true about it being less spec hungry then it might just be the best running version of Android to grace our phones.

Old tablet UI without Paranoid rom, possible?

like the title says, I am looking for a solution to get the old tablet UI on my nexus 7, is there any rom other than paranoid which could acomplish this ?
on my 2012er I got paranoid installed and there were no updates whatsoever over a 1,5 month period. Thats why I dont want to get paranoid on my 2013er

I am so glad you answered my question. I've been going crazy for the past 18 months trying to figure out what you meant. I thought you meant like AOSP or something, but I'm glad you cleared it up.

Probably best to close this until the OP decides to post that 18 month old ROM
