My phone randomly thinks there are headphones plugged in rendering the speakers useless. Trying to send it in to HTC. I have locked the bootloader and am trying to change the software status from "Modified" to "Original" before setting S-On again.
Any ideas?
Have you tried an RUU?

Ive just receive my htc wildfire s from the repair shop after hard bricking it by myself, they manage to bring my phone back to access bootloader but still stuck on htc green and white logo when you just turn it on,they used jtag method..my problem is I dont know what firmware should i use to flash my phone and bring it back to stock gingerbread firmware..
here is my bootloader info :
hboot - 0.90.000
radio - 7.46.35.08
I dont have any ***locked*** or ***unlocked*** phrase on the first line indicated - (and ive read some articles in other forum that it is necessary to update the bootloader to have ***locked oow*** appear on my bootloader and update my hboot to 1.08.0099 - 1.10.000 and then unlocked my bootloader via htc.dev officially).
one more thing , ive tried flashing extracted ruu from football's post because like what ive said my phone is stuck on htc white and green logo when turning it on after a jtag...but my log says that "main version is older" ,, i tried it using goldcard and plain micro sd card.. So the big question is WHAT firmware or rom should i flash in order to use my phone again?? do i need to update bootloader first??? or what..what method should i use??? thus my wildfire s is still brick or un recoverable???
hoping someone can educate and help me.... thanks
by the way asian user here.
Hey guys, I've done a lot of searching with no results.
The root of my problems is that my GPS just does not work. I've used GPS Status & Toolbox and the phone does not register any satellites what so ever, so I can't use Google Maps or any app that needs my location. This all started happening from the time I received the phone from HTC. They sent it to me as a screen replacement phone. But now at this point, as I see it, it's a hardware problem. (If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know).
So right when I received the device I Unlocked it, Turned S-Off, and Rooted it. I did all of this before I realized there was a problem with the GPS. So I guess that was my fault. So now, the device is still under warranty but I know that HTC doesn't like them to be tampered with before they replace them (I learned that the hard way to the tune of $250 when I sent in my first device for screen repair).
So here is my device now, please help if you can, I need to get back to 100% stock being Locked, S-On, and Not Rooted.

I'm on T-Mobile, running Sense 6.0 on Android 4.4.4.
If anyone can give me an idea of the steps I need to take, please let me know. I just haven't come across a way to go back to Locked and S-On with HBoot 3.19.
Any advice or help would be very welcome, thank you!

Please someone help me on this, please adjust that i dont know anything on this.
Thanks in advance
First off, if you don't understand how to root the phone, you shouldn't have a rooted phone. I firmly believe this. Rooting the phone isn't that hard, and if you aren't willing to put in the time and effort to learn about how to root it, its probably dangerous for you to have the phone rooted.
You are unfortunately now in the spot where you will have to learn a lot just to get the phone back to a stock condition.
Do you know what version of the phone you have (carrier or region?)? What hboot number?
If you select recovery in bootloader, and a red triangle (or green circle if an update is loading, but likely red triangle) with exclamation point is shown, that is stock recovery. Anything else is custom recovery.
Hey Thanks for the reply,
I'm from India & i use Indian version of M8.
i couldnt find my version main number :/
My HBOOT is 3.19.0.0000

Phone Relocked & S-ON now!
When i clicked recovery on bootloader it showed "Security Warning" so i did not proceeed further.
What to do next, please help
Bought an ATT branded One X from a friend that is stuck in bootloop. He attempted an ota update, and now it boots to black screen after the htc logo screen. Home buttons light up, stay lit. The ATT chime is heard, but no display. Booting recovery leads to the red triangle. I have no idea if he turned fastboot off, or even the software version he had or was trying to update. I am hoping the phone is saveable, and hoping to load it with a good custom if possible. I have been searching and reading for hours, and have mixed results as to the proper direction. Currently, I can boot into hboot/recovery mode. This is the info on screen:
locked
evita pvt ship S-on rl
Hboot 2.14.000
radio 0.17.32.09.12
And so on.
I've read I need s-off, and unlocked, as well as root and twrp or cwm installed. Ok, no problem. Also know fastboot needs to be off. I have also read this is not possible without knowing what version is on the phone, and that this phone is bricked. Seems to me that it's not, but maybe it is.
Can I use a toolkit to get s-off and unlocked AND turn off fastboot, and then simply flash twrp and a custom Rom, orrrr...???????
Wrong forum, you have to ask this in One XL forums. http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-x-att
Ah yes, that right. The Evita is an XL, not X. My bad completely. Sorry.
i have been give n a above phone by a family member to look at whilst im off work after a operation.
the phone says

I have looked around on here and on other forums but am unable to find anything with the OS-6.12.401.4 to help solve the problem all i can tell it has probably tried/has been updated to Android Marshmallow. other then that i am stuck as to where to go from there.
Any help much appreciated
What is wrong with the phone?
"Locked" in bootloader simply means the bootloader is locked, which is the normal stock condition. It doesn't indicate a problem in itself.

Well that information is remarkably vague, to the point of not being useful!

What recovery? How did you try to load it?
If you tried to flash a custom recovery like TWRP, you can't do that with a locked bootloader, by definitions (the very purpose of locking the bootloader).
But don't unlock the bootloader. You can install a complete factory image (RUU) using the following process and files: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926626&postcount=6
by upgrade i ment do an update sorry.
by recovery i mean recovery as in im guessing the bootloader screen where it says software status modified. i just used the volume keys to go down to it and pressed the power button but the screen just reloaded back onto the software statuts modified screen.
i will have a go at the complete factory image install and post back with what happens although hopefully the phone will be working again.

I see, you mean "boot to recovery" (and in your case, stock recovery). I took "load" to mean you were trying to flash or install something.

So it either sounds like you know what RUU to use (needs to match your CID and version number), or you don't and you are guessing you will find it. Not clear which is the case.
Did you find a solution to this? I have exactly the same issue with my wife's old HTC One M8, which had been left to go flat for over two years. After recharging, it came back on with exactly the same message (I didn't even have to switch it on). It's never been modified in any way, apart from scheduled OTA updates

I gave a solution. But the RUU may not be for the M8 version you have. You have to provide specific device info, for anyone to be able to help you. Lots of versions of the M8, each with different (or no) RUU.
I have not used my HTC one M8 phone for nearly 2 years.

Cool story, bro. But seriously, you didn't ask a question or tell us what you need help with.
I'm guessing it is stuck on the bootloader screen (that you typed out and posted)?
i have the same problem. My HTC One m8 wont boot into android and its stuck in the bootloader. Even if i restart the phone it wont go to android. I have a 6.12.111.4 OS version. Could someone put a 6.12.111.4 os version here, because i want to install it! THANKS
