What is the difference between models? Is it a ton of work for the devs to port it over?

I wish I had time to learn this stuff...
I don't know how difficult it is to do, but I can't imagine it's very easy or it would be done already.

Can't wait for this to be ported...loving my AOSP at the moment though!

Port! Port! Port! Port!

I want! I want! (wish I knew dev work)
Sent from my LG-D851 using XDA Free mobile app

Porting it shouldn't require extensive testing since the release to hardware for d855 is almost identicle to ours but the kernel has to play well otherwise we will have to wait for t-mobiles official release. The real question is how easy will it be to reroot.

At this point I don't care about root, I just want Stock Lollipop on my T-mobile LG G3.

Still no lollipop

d855 is international or europe model . Spec-wise I believe they are identical.

DONT DO IT!! It breaks root and thats about all it does.
I started noticing that every time I would update to the latest version then root my D851 I would almost immediately recieve an update from Tmo. It's something built into their version of the firmware, maybe in the ever intrusive Tmo bloatware (My account etc), but it seems they can detect root and thats all these updates are for. To break your root access.
I ended up getting sick of it, installing TWRP and flashing the Unofficial CM12 build. No real problems with it so far.

The next update I'll do will either be stock lollipop or CM12 official.

I heard someone say that" Its like that can detect you have root" I know for a fact that T-Mobile can detect that you have root.. Hell they told me over the phone that my phone is rooted. Only thing they didnt tell me was my OS version. which changes from time to time.. and yes its LP. not the stock LP that we should be getting soon. I also checked into
when will we get LP on T-Mobile and they told me, between April and Summer time.. it was supposed to be release already but some problems delayed it.
Dont forget that when Google releases the LP then LG has to get with all major Carriers and agree what goes into and what doesnt go into.. and then it gets tested by carrier for they told me 2 weeks before the OK is givin over to Carrier (T-Mobile) . Then LG wil Roll out the releases..
Me Personaly, I wont update to stock LP till I know there is a ROOT method that works.. I just want my wifi calling back. which only T-Mobile has.. so thats why I want the T-Mobile LP.. But till Root is working with stock T-Mobile LP. I will just wait......... I run ACIP 5.02 and Resurrection Remix 5.02 with MultiROM..

It's built in my account via diagnostics to ensure that's what is causing the problems or not during troubleshooting. And no, we do not push out updates to break root. That's not our priority. We dgaf what you do with your phone, but if it's rooted it just voids warranty, that's all.

Could this work for us when we get 5.0?

Im not normally one to start a discussion but this is something I thought could be good news possibly.
I saw this today: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/supersu-beta-lollipop-root-stock-kernel/
Chainfire has found a way to root 5.0 with no kernel modifications. That is great news. Chainfire really has outdone himself with this one. My question for starting a discussion is this, could this possibly work for us once we get 5.0 on our devices? Since we got a locked bootloader and cant touch the kernel at all, could 5.0 be our next hope possibly? Or would it be better to still stick on 4.4 as long as possible? Discuss and let me learn?
Awesome find!
And here is the official thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
That exploit will almost certainly be patched before we get 5.0 pushed to us... AT&T is the kind of company that will delay rollout until it is patched.

I was thinking this also. Thats why I wanted to start a discussion to see what people are thinking. I know its all speculation and only time will tell if it would work or not on our devices.
yea. It kind of makes you hope they would wait to release an exploit until more devices can take advantage of it. I'm happy for the very few devices that have locked bootloaders and Andriod L...but it would be nice for those of us without root and know we have upcoming Andriod L releases to delay.
Of course you run the risk of things like this being patched without the exploit ever being released, in which case it is better for those few hands down.
Here's to hoping Chainfire found another (as of yet unannouced) way to root Andriod L that he's keeping for when they patch this one.
Agreed. Never know, they may not patch it before release (might depend how hard it is to fix).
Or, as you said, a different exploit may be available.
Is there a reason why this root method would not work on kitkat 4.4 with locked bootloader? Too bad I haven't bought a n4 yet (will soon) to try it, but can someone try it to see if this method works on kitkat

It doesn't work, otherwise chainfire would have announced it.

It's an update to the SuperSU app that allows it to give other apps root permission without a modified kernel in 5.0. It's not a rooting method.

LG G2 F320 S/L/K Android L 5.0.1 kdz (Beta)

Sorry My mistake! please delete this post
wow, official. can't wait for d802
That post delivery at 11/29/2013 and version number is 11. So I can't believe it is lollipop.
As I know, the version number of lollipop beta running at these devices is 28.
Yup, this is not Lolipop.
Current test KDZ lollipop files are 28D. 11l is either JB or KK. So dont bother with this.
Unfortunately i cant download from this site.. but still we need a stock android L kernel to run this on d80x phones... so it is useless i think
Lollipop is 1.x gb in size. These files are 1.8 + gb.
The version also doesn't match.
A guy bought this kdz: http://www.lgbbs.net/thread-922-1-1.html
Maybe he will share, here or on some other site. Rape Google searches to find out
Edit: Seems like G Pro 2 is getting G3 UI too: http://www.lgbbs.net/thread-920-1-1.html
Yeah. They get it few days before g2
Hmm i think we dont have support for dual window ;/
What would be interesting to find out is if we got a unlocked bootloader with Lolipop. That would be a really sweet treat for this christmas!!!!

Thats doubtful but honestly the locked bootloader doesnt prevent rom flashing. Id say the g2 will get lollipop by feb 2015.

i got my new asus zenfone2 ze551ml should i root?

title says it all thanks
Do you want to use anything that requires root? Then yes. You don't? Then no.
I personally do use apps that require root, plus I enjoy having full control over my phones, so I immediately root, unlock the bootloader, and install a custom recovery. But that's not for everyone.
Just use it for a week and see if there's any functionality you miss. Or to put it a different way: when in doubt, no.
well i use xmod b4 but now i cant even if i root my phone cos its x86 i have htc desire x b4 rooted.
but this fone i see a lot of threads "UNOFFICIAL" on rooting, unlocking bootloader, rom and etc... so im 50/50 i dont
want to brick this phone even if its cheap..

Depends on why you'd want to root. I like tinkering and using Adaway, so it was a no brainer for me.

Its your choice. Like what others mentioned. Depends on what you need.
YES. The bloatware is ridiculous. I'm probably going to write a tutorial on how to do everything start to finish if you're buying a new 551. Not that bad if you have all the files. Really easy, but good grief, are all the tutorials out there now confusing. Most don't even tell you, you need to downgrade... Took me hours to figure it out. Finally, have a debloated rom, root, and busybox installed so I can install Kali Linux
Yeah the bloatwares! But i think im gonna wait till android m has been released thanks all?

Same, I am going to wait until Android M as well. I found that when you root phones b4 they get their "improved" stock firmware, the modem/wifi/bluetooth never seem to flash the same and are always buggy. I am being careful with this phone because it works quite good minus the terrible battery life, but on my OnePlus One, I found a 40% increase in battery life even on the early early Android M roms. Seeing that there is no roms even being worked on for 6.0, I am going to play it safe...after all, some of the bloat can be removed without root. Of course not the annoying ones though

Wrong. Better than just being worked on, an alpha of CM13 has been released today.

Yep that literally posted about the same time I made the comment lol. But having official firmware for Android M built by ASUS themselves, then having it customized by Asus would be better. I do not mean to insult CM, but I have yet to see a truly stable version of their software. Every phone I have had has shown to have issues with CM based roms. It's not the guys customizing the roms, its just the fact that CM is more universal and not necessarily developed for this specific phone by the original coders. Modded code always has issues, and if it comes out perfect, I hope these big companies pay whoever mods it to perfection and gives them a phat paying job. I want ZenUI, its one of the best non AOSP UI out there IMOP. I only want root to clean out the extras I don't want/need. It has more customization than a phone needs for the most part.
I am waiting also.

915A - No root? No TWRP or CWM??

Am I just missing it, or is there no root or recovery ability for the 915A?
Marshmallow 6.0.1 ****ed mine up when it got pushed down, and Samsung's backup software (all 3 of them) failed to capture my apps and settings properly. Really wish I could've had a better backup ability.
Does or has anyone checked to see if the update to MM 6.0.1 has unlocked the bootloader on the SM-N915A like the Verizon variant?
How does one check?
Att have not released any M updates.
Mine updated to 6.0.1 the same day I bought it . Several small updates happened first. 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 then a small one, and finally 6.0.1. Since I had just bought it, resetting was a simple thought. But so far, no problems, I bought a PowerBear to make it last longer. :fingers-crossed:
Mine had a lot of issues after being updated. MMS didn't work at all. SMS worked sporadically, but would sometimes delete whole threads. Couldn't get a signal in many spots. Google Play Services wouldn't run and couldn't be fixed. Tried a cache-wipe and every other non-destructive method, but nothing worked. Ended up having to factory-reset, and since then the phone works as it should, but none of the backup methods captured key settings. Basically all it did was save contacts and APK's. Lost my 2-factor keys and everything.
I am with you! Since the update to MM, phone has been very laggy/unresponsive. Lock screen lights up for no reason sporadically and I have LOTS of dropped calls/deadspots. VERY irritating! I wish this release would have been tested a bit more before it was OTA pushed out
Hey all! Good news! A 9-year-old bug called the "Dirty Cow" exploit still exists in the Linux/Android kernel can easily grant root on any Android phone!!! See the video below.
http://www.xda-developers.com/9-yea...-dirty-cow-can-root-every-version-of-android/
So there's another bug to exploit for root and even possibly unlocking the bootloader! The bug has been fixed recently in Linux but hasn't been rolled into Android yet.
Could someone make this Windows compatible? http://androiding.how/dirty-cow-root-android/

[Stylo 2 Plus] How to Update to Nougat 7.0! and root!

Hello fellow users !
A couple of days ago, I saw that the Stylo 2 Plus is going to get an update installing the new ?Nougat 7.0?! Anxious, I wanted to get it, but after long searches later... I found a thread in the T-Noble forums that people installed what was a security update and not 7.0. An employee later replied saying that they also got too exited and won't launch the new update until later date. It was a bummer, as I had backed up everything (Nandroid and file backup) to install a new custom ROM but there aren't any compatible then found about the nougat update. Phone broken after after flashing an incompatible ROM, restored the Nandroid backup then....
BUT ENOUGH OF STORY TELLING!!! (Why did you stop??? -_-)
Here to get new features aren't cha?
1.WELL YUST CONnect your phone to LG Bridge and update from there...
Anticlimactic I know (lol) but it can't get any simpler!
Problems connecting to LG Bridge? install the drivers from the LG page or look online.
Also here for root?
Well head on over to @messi2050 's thread located here [[Recovery] Twrp v3 For Lg Stylo 2 Plus]
this method that was first intended for the 6.0.1 version, is still MM compatible and works perfectly with my device!
Don't know about Xposed though (can someone comment about that)
Thanks for reading my thread!(and the story if you did lol)

Really? Seems people dont have it from all the comments I've been seeng.
It probably depends on your service provider if they had the update earlier for you. For example. T-Moble was going to release the nougat update the 15th of may but it had turned out to be another security update.
