I got my Touch pro 2 from att about a little over a week ago. Now I must have flashed 10 roms on the phone so far. I used to have the first generation tilt for 2 years. Going from that to the new tilt 2 I am not that impressed with the difference in speed. I am wondering was the first generation tilt fully pimped out really that good for what it was or do we still have a way to go with the tp2 as far as development goes. That aside I feel the speed is only marginally better so far, aside from the hardware differences I am wondering, is this as good as it is going to get? Any other opinions about this? Just wondering what the consensus is.

Hello there... I also have the original Tilt (Kaiser) as well as the Tilt 2 now... I can really tell as well as you that the speed is not so much improved from the original at 400Mhz... and now 528 or so... those 100+ Mhz are lost with the new screen resolution and software like TouchFlo 3D... so it's pretty much the same thing when speaking about performance... The only things that I can tell for sure are...:
-> GPS Lock is awesome from 10 sec - 40 Sec... easy... (much better than Tilt 1)
-> Screen is a huge plus... obviously...
-> Tilt function same as Tilt 1... sluggish as hell often.
-> Camera is more or less the same thing... (a bit more resolution on the Tilt 2 but slow and buggy as Tilt 1 in my opinion)
-> Plus on Proximity / G-Sensor...
Also I have to mention something that everybody already knows... We all know that "in the World of PDA's the Iphone is just a toy" but I have to say that the touch sensibility / quality is much, much better on the Toy (Iphone 3G/3GS/Ipod Touch) than any HTC or whatever brand PDA including the HTC's Touch Pro 2 of course... I was hopping to finally get a much better Touch Screen on the Tilt 2 and I was disappointed as usual. The question stands... when are we going to get an Iphone kind of touch screen on our PDA's...?
I can continue and post a complete review... lol... but that's not the idea...
Now... what I find strange that nobody seems to realize is that there is no support for Flash on the new Tilt2 (with Opera)... I already tried to install the Juggalo_X Official Flash Lite 3.1 CE-OS 20757.cab plus replaced the Opera browser with other versions and there is no way I can get Flash working on the Tilt 2. Am I the only one that wants or would like to have Flash working? This was done in 2 minutes on the Tilt 1... and works great on Tilt 1... any ideas?
Well I am glad someone responded and shared my sentiment. It is a little bit of a let down so far with the tilt 2. The one issue I now am pending is do I return my phone before the 30 days and go back to the tilt and hold out for something down the pike for the holidays or get something to hold me over till then and get the leo whenever it makes its way down here. Samsung Omnia 2 will be arriving in multiple carriers soon I think as well. You get an 800 mhz processor with that and it def seems sleeker. Not sure what to do at this point. Unless there is an explosion of really quick and eye catching roms that maximize the performance of this device I dont think I will keep it past the 30 days.
Damn
I have a day one Tilt. I had about twelve roms on it ,including TPC Titanium Ultimate 23053. That was the fastest rom I ever had on my Tilt. The stock ATT ROM on my Tilt 2 murdered it. A co-worker at work has a 3GS and tried out my phone and was very impressed with the Touch screen. Apparently, as was the case with my original tilt, each batch has subtle differences. Even Cnet was impressed with it. Newtek, people realize. They just use skyfire or internet explorer mobile. There is a workaround for Opera, but it's hit or miss like the original fix.
If I am not mistaken, didn't the tilt 1 have only 64 megabytes of ram. For me, the hugest difference between my mogul and my previous phone, the Touch pro, was the HUGE gap in ram that I gained, ALONG with the drastically better resolution. Those two alone made the upgrade worth it by far. On my mogul, I would always have to fight for roms that give me 50% free ram at boot and could rarely multi-task. I get my Touch Pro 2 on monday. I don't expect it to be much different from my Touch Pro because it technically has the same guts. I will be looking foreward to the nice big screen though.

As soon as the HTC Touch HD2 is available. It's the first HTC device that contains a capacitive touch screen like the "toy" and the cpu has twice the speed as well.
André
well
i think kaiser is a real good cellphone ..but tp2 is better ...
I loved my original Tilt, but after getting my Tilt 2 there is no going back.
For me:
1. The screen is SOO much nicer and bigger..
2. It much more responsive the gestures and finger friendly.
3. It not instant but is noticeably faster than the Kaiser overall.
4. My experience with Opera is nicer and faster.
5. My GPS lock is MUCH quicker.
6. It retrieves my e-mail faster.
I for one am happy.

If you prefer the way touch works in iPhone then you have to wait for HTC Leo which is also based on capactive screen. TP2 and others are all based in resistive screen.
As for Flash Lite 3.1, it comes with IE on TP2. Anyway, Adobe will make available the full Flash 10.1 player for WM phone. Public beta before end of the year.

i have the same problem at first when i got the phone it worked in opera but when i did a clear storage aka hard reset it stopped working. i called att and they called htc both of them had no clue that that would happen if you do a hard reset. so they sent me another phone i got it yesterday and set the phone up and it still didnt work. well they sent me a refurbed phone. so now today i have two tilt 2's that wont work right i have another one coming it friday and it is supposed to be brand new. i have tried every flash lite on the web and opera and it doesnt work. they are doing some thing to the phone. htc says that it is supposed to be on the phone but it looks like to me they set it in the phone as a third party software and if you reset the phone you lose it and after you can find flash lite and install it it still doesnt work in opera and p ie doesnt work as well after either. so they are about to lose alot of money becuase its supposed to work and it doesnt. but if anyone out there knows how to make it work with opera and tilt 2 windows mobile 6.5 email me asap at [email protected]

Dude?!! Did you even read this thread. Opera does not do flash out the box!!! There is nothing wrong with any of those phones. Use Skyfire! There is a hack someone created to do flash on Opera. It's called Opera flash fix. Stop wasting your time and HTC and ATT's time with this issue. Adobe is supposed to make Flash 10 compatible with Windows Mobile later this year.
Okay so I am new to the pro coming from an incredible...and well when i first got the incredible there really wasnt anything as far as rooting and roms go..but the pro has been out since november..it has root..however it doesnt seem like a lot of people are interested in porting roms and making customs ones for it..i mean is fission the only thing being worked on? no miui or cynagen?
That seems to be the case. I am actually researching how to cook Roms to see if I could do it since no one else seems to be.
Sent from my DROID PRO using XDA App
yeah im thinking about learning to do it too...its just finding time with school/work
I also came from the Incredible. The development for that device was amazing within a few months. However, for the Pro, it's really a sad state of affairs--no ROM to speak of. There is a Fission ROM RC1, but it's definitely not a daily driver and there's been nothing since that first release.
I LOVE the physical keyboard of the Pro, but I miss the fun of the Incredible. I'm sure I'll soon sell my Pro for the upcoming Incredible 2 or thunderbolt. I'll never buy a Motorola Android device again.
Yeah. It's kind of too bad. I have a Droid Pro and a Droid 2 (was given the Droid Pro), and recently switched to the Droid Pro as my everyday device. I love the keyboard and form factor, but would prefer to be able to run something closer to AOSP stock (have the most recent build of Fission on the D2).
I'm guessing that there just aren't enough Droid Pros out there for anyone to be interested in developing ROMs. Too bad, because it's a great phone, although I can see people not being interested in a "high-end" phone with an HVGA display.
Maybe the next version of MotoBlur will be better than the current one (although I've been happier with the stock software on the Droid Pro than I was with the Motoblur on the Droid 2 when it came out).
I mean for me its not so much as the UI...i actually dont mind moto blur at all and aside from missing the favorites widget for contacts and the default clock..i like it a lot better than sense...but the thing that i want is custom kernels and what not for speed/battery management and the other extra things
where are the chefs............?????????????
its pity, great phone with great hardware but dump software, we need chefs here..... where are you??????
please dont let droid pro to go down the drain, please......
we need a stable and fast AOSP ROM .......if possible......donating not a problem
please guys.....
Yeah I am really hoping for a Cynagen port of 2.3 onto this device
Really? This is where we stand on this? Nothing since February?
yah i know it sucks i want to learn to port so i can take the roms made for dx or d2 i really want cyn
Isn't the bootloader locked on this thing? That's why not really any roms?
Bootloader on the Droid X and Droid 2 are locked as well but both have some custom ROMs available..
Think it's more of an issue with the lack of numbers....not any devs have this device and not a huge number of Droid Pro users compared with the others....with the similarities with the X and Droid 2 you would think it wouldn't be too hard to port over a ROM to the Pro....
if you go check out droid forums you will see there is a guy working on CM7 for the PRO i cant wait for the first beta

Well the problem is the pro was targeted at corporate America. Not the IT guys or nerds but the exec's that loved the blackberry. The result is you don't have a lot of pro owners that know what xda-developers.com is, let alone a custom rom.
Bashing motorola? For realz? Damn man I love my Droid X, I do product reviews on just about every phone on the market and I have to say my original Droid X is still my favorite and I don't pay for service, phones or anything. I have my pick... and it's the Droid X. I've been thinking about switching to the Droid X 2 which is just as outstanding, the only problem is I don't want to reward them for not going 4G with it. I don't really need a processor upgrade and I have a 32 gb micro in the Droid X 1 (which I was surprised it recognized to be honest).
Anyway, Droid X 1 with MIUI FTW
First off, I have been coming to XDA for a while now and love this site. Thanks everyone for all your posts. I'm new to posting and figured I'd give it a shot.:
I recently bought the Atrix from AT&T and I love it. I upgraded from the Captivate which I loved as well but it broke on me and I'm happy for the upgrade. I just have some questions about the atrix:
I've been looking into all the cool hacks that are possible..I recently hacked it so I can view webtop without a dock and yesterday I installed Gingerblur which I love so much more than stock. I used the superoneclick software to root my phone which was a breeze. I did it while I was at work..thats how easy it was.
I was wondering if I can detect which version of Gingerblur I am running and if I can upgrade to the latest version if I'm not running it. I was also wondering if there are any other hacks like Gingerblur that are worth looking into.
I was also wondering if there is a way to get the "end all" option in the task manager when you long press the home button. I really liked that feature on the captivate, being that you don't need to run a Task Killer on android with the latest firmware. Is there a way to get that back? I just like knowing I can close all applications.
Also is there a way to get wifi toggle buttons in the drop down notification bar that the captivate had.
Being that I just rooted my atrix, and am figuring out ways to utilize such a powerful device, what would you guys recommend that I do to the phone to get the best out of it. I'm not sure exactly what rooting the phone can do to make my android experience better.
I'm new to forums and android so please be kind..I'm sorry if this post seems kind of jumbled with various topics. I would appreciate any input. Thanks guys
-Mike
I'm also running Launcher Pro which I Bought. I also bought setPCU but I'm not sure if the atrix is compatible or how to use it properly...but would love to overclock the phone when i can.
anyone? please?
I'm about to get the Atrix too!! As far as I explore the android market, there's antutu benchmark and its master boost apps that can overclock and test your phone's performance. I tried it on my HTC Desire and got a pretty impressive result. Definitely give it a shot.
Any potential Oreo port for the note 4 verizon?
I second that..... It's a great phone still and the last with a replaceable battery. Plus we're already unlocked and rooted.
Would like to bump this again.
The note 4 is very powerful and stacks up to the latest flagship phones in many performance areas, great display, great snapdragon processor, overall an awesome phone. Especially now with a unlocked bootloader and rooted, would be awesome to resurrect this phone and get Oreo.
Here's a spec comarison from the note 4 vs the google pixel.

Need my Oreo fix for my note 4
I hard bricked my of note 4 last year but it was such a great phone and with the removable battery I bought another note 4 and rooted it again the day I got it...

@maksimreder, give it time. I wouldn't be surprised if hsbadr comes up with a port. I think he would be our only hope, granted I don't see other ROM developers making a 7.0 ROM, maybe they just don't have the "know-how". Given what I've seen in terms of release schedules, if it does happen, I wouldn't count on it for maybe...a couple months, if it's gonna happen at all. HOPEFULLY, by the end of the year. I haven't followed, though. Is Android Oreo even complete? Has it been released and pre-installed on any new phones? I think we'd have to at least wait for that to happen, first if it hasn't, already.

Yeah thats fine, I just wished the 1k viewers that saw this thread would chime in and offer their support.
I'm sure Resurrection Remix will have Oreo very soon. Never understood why Lineage for the GN4 wasn't officially supported.
Well the biggest issue would be that 8.0 isn't supposed to have 32 but support but the nexus 5 and 6 both have Oreo ported to them so it should be possible hardware wise art least. I don't know enough about it to be sure, but I'd think lots of the nexus 6 changes could carry over to the note 4 considering they have nearly identical specs.
Would love to see an Oreo port for the Canadian Note 4.
Seriously Doubt this will happen, would be wonderful. There is a huge amount of work involved. A great Article is somewhere on here about making things work. From SHIMs to the Binaries. Qualcomm already said they wouldnt go back this far for drivers.. Honestly unless using a modded stock ROM this thing just doesnt work right on most ROMs. I will keep in the drawer as a backup, just ordered a N8 unlocked. Couldnt resist it at 650$ w/ free Dex & WiFi Charger via their app.
Well, I found a whole lotta nothing. But hey, here's a page that says the link was removed but will be re-added shortly. I'll believe it when i see it, but if you want to see it, here it is: http://rootmygalaxy.net/lineage-os-15-on-samsung-galaxy-note-4/
I suspect someone will post a link to an Android 8.0 ROM in these forums sooner or later. From what I understand, Android Oreo is the first ROM to not have a 32-bit version, which has probably hampered efforts.

I have an Oreo ROM on my Nexus 6, and I would love to have Oreo on my Note 4 also.
That said, I get 2.5 days of light use of my Note 4 with a NEW battery when running MOROM... 1.5 days typical use. can kill the battery in a bit over 6 hours if I really try.. (full brightness screen, no screen timeout, BT and WIFI tethering data to my Android car stereo, while streaming audio)
I would think ambient display would help a lot. Any way to keep the display as much black as is possible reduces power consumption tremendously. Being able to reject calls from a locked screen (98% black) instead of lighting it up more helps. Love Oreo based 6ROM on my Nexus 6. no downsides.
+1
I also would like to see this with S-PEN functionally working with the Oreo 8.1 on the Note4 that would be entirely epic I have five Note4's laying here all with there own problems. I'm not joking. all of them are just sitting here I have to buy batteries for etc. besides the Note4 I believe might very well be the last smartphone to ever possess the infrared beaming for remote control for your home fireplaces TVs air conditioners etc. and like others have mentioned to boot removable battery the most important thing.

That is for a XiaoMi phone, not the samsung Note 4.
Same story every year for the Hong Kong variant! The same thing happened to my SM-G9650 with Android Pie.
Patience young one, it will come and you'll probably get a better initial experience than everyone else.
I'm not too bummed yet because I hear Good Lock hasn't been updated for 10 which would stop me from updating anyway. But once that happens...

number one for sure would be the gesture navigation - it is absolutely the best, the samsung one is just rubbish. ALso music controller and scribbling through the playing audio directly from the notification shade although im not sure if thats a oneplus feature or android 10. Im sure there will be a lot of other things il miss that i dont know yet!

I'd say the average Note10+ buyer is probably fairly interested in the version of Android it's running, yes. They are someone that is probably expecting one of the best Android experiences possible, especially when you consider the cost of the handsets.

Yes all I have to do is apply the update. I use this phone mostly for gaming and a few months ago someone posted that the dualshock 4 pairing would be fixed with Android 10 I just want a conformation on that b4 I start downloading. I'm still on release firmware in hopes for root but if I can use my ps4 controller I would gladly update

Can the Note 10+ Hong Kong get flashed with stock Android 10 ROM from another region and get it done that way? And what about root? Can it be rooted afterwards again under Android 10 or not?
The truth of the matter is I see zero benefits on an upgrade. Android 9 works flawlessly on my rooted 10 Plus and there isn't anything on Android 10 that I already can't do with my Android 9 firmware. I never quite understand this "upgrade" rush everyone seems to have..
Heck.. I'm still on Android 8 on my Note 8 and everything works flawlessly with all my apps and setting such as on my newer Note 10+. THE ONLY thing about my Note 8 that needs an "upgrade" is the p...e-of-s..t AMOLED display that is burnt in everywhere.. and no firmware will fix that.
Gosh I miss LCDs.. Samsung AMOLED panels ALL last less than a couple months before they start burning in.. all of them.
