[Q]Flashmode - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
Taking advantage of the latest release I want to ask for help with flashmode. When I try to put my z1c into flashmode the led blinks red and green for a fraction of second and nothing more happens. Have you ever encountered something like this before?
I'm running w8.1, could this be the problem?
If this is of any matter, fastboot works fine and my phone is unlocked, rooted and whatsoever.

It's normal.

What do you mean? Nothing more happens, flashtools does nothing. The pop-up prompt stays open

It's normal for the led not to stay on so use flashmode as normal, if it's failing you're doing it wrong.

You need to instal flashtool drivers and your z1c drivers. After entering first time flashmode in your phone your drivers should be installed firstly after pluging your phone

I used the drivers from the Flashtool/drivers folder, installed fastboot, and all Z1 compact drivers. Got no issues, except that the phone was exiting flashmode and rebooting to system, before the flashtool could prepare the whole ROM package I was attempting to flash. This is easily resolved - you just wait for the "prepare files" process to finish, and then the flash tool prompt you to connect the phone in flashmode. Do it and the flashing begins immediately after that.

Thanks for answer, I'll check it out later on
EDIT: Still nothing. I am not getting any sound while connecting my z1c in flashmode to the PC. simply, nothing happens.

YES... Another bricked Xperia S.... Please Help.

I know there are several threads out there with bricked XSs. I have read a lot of them and tried a lot of the stuff that is in there but none of them are exactly my case or they didnt work.
I rooted my xperia S which as on Android 2.3.7 and flashed it with a AOSP ICS Rom (using flashtool). I have locked BL and my stupid mistake was to try to flash a ROM that was for unlocked BL.
Now my phone wont go past the SONY logo, I have tried to fix it with the flashtool but I cannot make it to go on flashmode son my computer doesnt recognize my phone. When I plug it in the computer the LED turns red.
Any Ideas or suggestion? Please help me save this phone, It is brand new, I havent even made a single call with it.
Cheers!
Hold volume up and power button until it vibrates 3 times. Now it is off.
Install flashtool
Go to the drivers folder and install all the necessary drivers. Fastboot, flashmode Xperia S etc drivers
Download the ftf file.
Put it in the firmware folder
Now open flashtool and select the ftf file.
When its ready hold volume down button and plug your phone in. Wait.
It should work
There's no way you can brick a locked bootloader XS so don't worry

Thanks a lot man, I am going to try again, but I already had those files installed in my computer because like I said, I rooted and flashed my phone using Flashtool before.
I will try to go through the whole process again. But at least you are telling me that bricking a XS with locked BL is almost impossible.... that's given me hope.
cheers
If your BL is looked download EMMA tool from Sony, all the instructions are there and it will get you back to stock.
Don't worry, same thing happened to me and this generous tool fixed it

Thanks,
Does this installs Stock from the original country where I bought the phone or just the latest stock (4.1) ?
Cheers
EDIT: In the Sony website it says that this is for devices with unlocked bootloader :/
If your phone is being recognised by your pc try using pc companion to fix this. Open pc companion, click on update device then somewhere should be a repair my device hyperlink ( I softbricked my locked bootloader sxs )

I could get it to go into flashmode but the phone reboots istself eve If I had pressed the Vol Down + Power and waitend for the 3 vibrations...
I plug it into the computer and it turns itself on, thus making the flash process abort.
Besides, I charged it all night, but I cannot turn it on just like that, I have to plug it for a while and the it would turn it self on and get stock in the Sony logo, the I can Press Power + Vol Down but when I plug it in the laptop in flashmode, it turn the led green but then it turns itself on. :/
Note: the phone is not recognized by te PC and I have all the drivers installed
You are aware of the fact that flashmode will time-out in about 42 or 43 seconds if no data is send? So if you have to do something in flashmode first start the process on your computer and when it asks for your phone to be connected in flashmode then connect in flashmode. If you do it before, it will time-out and will loose connection before the flashing is started.
And make sure no other program is trying to install new drivers for your phone. (Like PCC while you are trying to use flashtool or have adb running on your computer alongside PCC)
Good luck!

Yep, What Im doing is that I start all the process in flashtool and when it asks me to connect in flashmode thats when I take my phone to flashmode an connect it to the laptop.
The thing is that after connecting the phone the led goes green, that is good, but the it turns itself on and gets stock in the Sony Logo, soft reset, hard reset, it doesnt matter
Did you check no other programs are trying to install drivers for your phone?

which OS do you have (i mean on the laptop) , if its windows 8, then theres gonna be some problems getting to flash mode or fastboot mode, i had the same problem, i wanted to install a kerne via fastboot method, when it was windows 7 all was ok, my pc recognized fastboot mode and all worked out pretty well, after i upgraded windows 7 to 8, my pc didnt allow non-signatured drivers to run, so my pc couldnt recognize fastboot mode, and my phone automatically turned on, i couldnt get into fast boot mode,so, all i had to do was search in google for a solution..how to install fastboot drivers in windows 8 for xperia s, and voilaa...solutions !!

My laptop is actually Win 8, but I never had problems. Actually that was the laptop that I used to root it and flash ICS.The phone goes into flashmode, and it is recognized by the flashtool, the thing is that my phone wont stay OFF, it just turns itself on after I soft or hard reset it.

[q] sony xperia z1c not booting sony/battery logo when charged - thats all.

Hello. I got problem with my "new-used" Z1Compact. I get it 2 days ago.
Phone is not starting, only bootlooping with sony and battery logo when charger is plugged.
There is no reaction for power button.
When i turned phone ON(plugged to power) i can "make a move" but i can only restart it, with power+vol, im getting 3 vibrations, and phone is restarted. (after restart when im trying vol+ or vol- i dont get nothing)
At first i thought it was matter of crashed ROM when somone updated, so i get STOCK for EU, and i plug phone to USB( same screen with sony + battery logo) with flashtool, he detects phone in flashboot and flash mode, so ive flashed my phone with D5503_14.4.A.0.108_Central Europe (1280-7864), but with no efect(i wasnt abble to WIPE in flashtool..).
Pc companion does not detects him, there is a Windows pip, but program dont recognize Z1C, but if i turn phone in flash mode( with vol-down) he is abble to detect device, like a Sony/Sony Ericsson.
For Windows i'm SONY ADB Interface Device.(ive installed Flashtool Drivers for all Z phones).
So i dont know what i can do to fix my sony. Any advise?
I'm not a pro in tel-service. Can someone can tell me do why system is not loading ?
No bootloader? Something wrong with flashing ? No drivers in PC ? When ive briked my sony Z1, i was in same situation, but phone was reacting for power, and i was ablle repir him with PC Companion.
Chillout man if you are able to flash rom try other stock sony rom try to download 157 fw and firstly open flashtool and in flashtool you have option to wipe data cache etc and secondly when window appear to connect phone do while handling vol- and flashtool should start flashing new firmware after that your phone should be able to turn on normally

Thanks for fast answer! I will try another rom, but i cant wipe data from my phone.. Dont have that option avaible in flashtool Any advice?
Jakis pomysł dlaczego tak jest? Albo jakiś inny pomysł jak mogę zrobic wipe ?

help please!!
Hi there,
tonight i tried to flash a custom ROM (Lollipop amari or so) via TWRP.
There i got an error, im not sure but i think it was because of the MD5 checksum.
After that i tried to wipe everything, except external storage where the .zip files are saved. But i think this was my fault, i wiped the internal storage.
Unfortunatelly i had no other ROM zip on the SD card, so i had no possibility to flash another one. So i tried to take the SD card out of the phone, copy another ROM on it, and put it back into the phone.
This didnt work, TWRP was not able to read the SD card anymore. So i had to try a reboot, with the result of just coming to the SONY logo and not further. Ive tried many times, also to get into recovery (which was erased when i wiped the internal storage?), but no chance.
So i tried flashtool, but it didnt recognize that my z1c was plugged via USB. I here a possibility to find it?
Before this attempt i had 4.4.4. with root, im not sure if the bootloader is/was locked or not. Any way to find this out?
I could only find in the service menu that its possible to unlock the bootloader, but not if it is locked or unlocked.
Now the situation is that i cant enter TWRP, cant boot the phone, cant see the phone via USB... SO PLEASE, CAN ANYONE HELP ???
On my (win7) laptop i have installed PC Companion, flashtool, adb drivers.

Z1C wont enter Flashmode

Hi there,
i have a new Z1C with 14.4.A.0.157 Kernel. I installed Flashtool, Flashtooldrivers, set UAC to off, i am admin on my PC, also tried the orig. sony drivers from pc-companion and verified that the pc will recognize the phone in all possible modes (device manager recognizes all devices from phone i.e. normal plugin, fastboot plugin and flashboot plugin [it shows then SOEMS Flash Device]).
i plug the phone with volume down to the pc, and all i get is half a second a red light, immediatly a green light for half a second and than no light anymore. so it won't show the green light long a enough for a successful flash, although the flashtool starts the flash progress (just a kernel should be flashed to .108 to get root), but with no success - still kernel 157 on the phone.
i also tried factory reset.
anyone with an idea?
thx.
Zetup-EXE
Try to firstly run flashtool send click flash button it should appear info to plug your phone after that turn off phone and hold vol down and plug your phone. In flashmode your phone will has black screen and no led only for 1s should appear red light for a second but that's all and flashtool should starts working

Hi guys,
My C1905 stopped working yesterday. When I'am trying to turn it on by pressing power button, it vibrates once and screen remains black. I tried to repair it using PC Companion. I can't, when i'm entering flashmode, pressing Volume Down and then connecting device to PC, LED becomes green but PC can't recognize my phone. I'm trying this also using Flashtool. The same effect. Bootloader is locked, i've never modified my ROM. Fastboot is working.

Alter connecting to PC, the light becomes red for about one second or less, then turns into green and stays that way, even if i disconnect my phone, light keeps staying green untill i remove bariery.
your device is not hard bricked. because it is vibrating & led is working. you can solve the problem by flashing ftf with flashtool. try again in another pc

got a sony xperia play, after following a guide, i tried to install the flashtool drivers, and failed, issue fixed by disabling driver signature enforcement, after that, tried to flash a rom, selected it in flashtool, and when it prompted me to hold the back key and plug in the xperia play, i plugged it in, it turned on, it hanged a bit, and then the power button turned green, flashtool not detecting it, then i tried the pc companion, again same thing, then i tried fastboot, and it did the same thing, the device not being recognised, and it flashing blue, what should i do now ?
