I have had my G Pro for a while now and usually like to go from ROM to ROM. I have since discovered that my GPS sucks. Not in the sense that it doesn't lock properly, but also in the sense that if I am out and about, Google Maps navigation will say "GPS Signal lost". I have looked and research about AGPS and the gps.conf file, but I wanted to know if anyone had a permanent fix or know of a ROM that has this.

My GPS will not work, but only for navigation, when I'm in maps or whatever else it knows exactly where I'm at but when i go to navigation it just says searching for GPS, and it never finds it.
I'm running CM7 RC2, with the minimalist theme.
Any solutions?
Are you sure what you are seeing in Maps is not just cell tower triangulation (coarse location)?
Install GPS Status & Toolbox (free on the Market) and see if you are actually picking up the satellites and if this app can get your location. My guess is you aren't.
The GPS issue with CM7 has been discussed thoroughly in the thread, so jsut go over there and do a search. There are a couple different fixes, the most common being to flash another radio.

You pretty well summed it up. OP's probably getting a decent triangulation off of cell towers/WiFi points to find him.
I've been using the app GPS Test in the Market to check my GPS on all the nightlies.
GPS seems to be generally working more often for people on the latest nightlies, I think #19 and later. Its working for me now since they added some GPS fixes.
Hello seems that a lot of people have this problem in 7.1 release. I read a lot about how to fix it but nothing works on my DHD, Should I downgrade to the previous stable release of Cyanogen? Can someone recommend a rom that is good out of the box? Thanks
The GPS problem usually happens when the ROM is not properly flashed or flashed without Wiping data properly, You can use FasterFix and GPS status aps from market to test and see if you get any GPS signal.
I'm using RCmiX 4.0 Gingerbread 2.35 with sense 3.5, the GPS lock works good in this, previously I was using ARHD 6.3.1 This rom was locking GPS under 5 seconds for me [ When I was outside and there was a clear sky view ].
If you are going for any of these two above ROM make sure you Wipe data properly / Factory Data Reset.
Maybe the antenna contacts are oxidized (another very common DHD issue).

I never managed to get a good gps signal on cm 7, or a good (non-grainy) camera. I use it daily when running, keeping track by cardiotrainer. Tried everything i could find. Switched to ARHD; problem solved. I hope it will be fixed some time, i liked cm.
Yeah the gps is a problem with cm7. You can usually use faster fix, gps status and gps fix to get a lock, but then if you are using it for navigation or similar gps tracking apps, the lock is lost after a few minutes.
The solution is to quickly switch the gps on and off whilst in the application that requires the lock and after having gained a lock, and then it should stay locked for the duration of your journey or whatever you are using it for.
Hello,
I installed the touchwized version of the CM10.1 by cup_cake (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365885&page=11)
The ROM works great with the exception of the GPS which is now not working, if I use an app. to display the satellites available it will display 4 or 5 satellites but it will never get a fix.
Is there any way I can fix this?
Thanks,
Can anybody help me with this please?....
I'm experiencing the same!
GPS was working fine with CM 7.2, but after installing a new CM 10.1 ROM the GPS fix takes literally ages, if it works at all. The Galaxy Nexus, for comparison, finds enough satellites for a fix within seconds, when the latest stock ROM (4.2.1) is installed.
Any ideas where to start?
I had the same issue on my Wildfire S running Owl Project's Jellybean CyanogenMod 10,1

GPS did not lock even after half an hour, it only drained battery. But I tried this thing:
One of these flashable ZIPs made the GPS find satellites. The coordinates it gives me are off about 200 kilometers from my actual location but at least it locked, at least there is some progress. I am still trying to figure out how to make GPS show me my actual location and not some asshole place I've never been to.
But some others said it worked like charm for them, maybe it will for you, too.
Hey Shisco!
Currently I'm using TopNTP (you can find it in the Play Store), an app from the thread opener of your link. It does the same as the zip files there, but gives you the option to adopt the gps.conf settings to your needs. Give it a try, because IMHO this app improves GPS a little bit.
Okay, the problem just disappeared by itself When on the move, more satellites appeared and GPS coordinates were now exact. The patch worked in the end I just had to give it some time
Same here, but it sometimes sucks to wait that long. Under CM 7 the GPS fix was much faster.
I cnat seem to get GPS to lock on. It always says searching for GPS on maps, and on waze it just says it can't get a GPS signal.
I'm on liquid smooth 4/13, and quantum kernel 4/18.
I tried messing with some build.prop setting like the gprsclass and others and nothing will fix it. I even updated the gps with android tweaker 2 from the play store.
Anyone have any insight I need gps for my new job.

Wrong section this should be in q&a/troubleshooting. My fault.

I lost mine when going from a cm11 nightly back to a 4.3 TW rom. The only way to get it back that worked for me was to flash a backup that had gps working, get a lock on my location and then clean flash back to the other rom.

Moderator Edit: Duplicate thread; go here for updates.
For awhile now I've had issues with the GPS on my i9192 where, using GPS Test, it will:
See multiple satellites but not get a lock
Seemingly "freeze" (satellite signal levels in GPS Test stop fluctuating)
Sometimes work fine
Sometimes only see 2 or 3 satellites despite being in a good location
These issues translate into GPS problems in my maps application (Here Maps), e.g. the maps app will be unable to get a lock, sometimes showing it has a lock for a second and then losing it again, which makes GPS navigation impossible.
I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced issues like this and whether they found any resolution, or whether anyone has any ideas as to what the cause might be.
I've tried:
Resetting/updating the AGPS settings in GPS Test
Editing gps.conf through FasterGPS
Editing gps.conf manually with various settings (rebooting after each change just in case)
Changing ROMs (from CM to LineageOS 14.1)
My feeling (and hope) is that it's a software issue since it seems to work better after a reboot (though not always). My next troubleshooting step will be to install a stock ROM and see if it resolves the issue, unless anyone else has a better idea. In particular I'm wondering if flashing a different modem/baseband would affect the GPS performance. Right now I'm on XXUCOA2.
Anyone have any thoughts?
An update: After reverting to a stock ROM, GPS performance was vastly improved, with no sign of the troubles getting a lock as was the case with LineageOS 14.1 and the CM ROM I used before that. I'm now trying to go back to Lineage OS 14.1 to see if the flash of the stock ROM (and new baseband) may have fixed it, but initial tests using GPS Test suggest that the ability of the GPS to get a lock is not as good as stock (too early to tell if I'll have the same problems not getting a lock at all).
It seems I have a similar problem right now. I'm using the lineage-14.1-20180624-nightly-serranoltexx-signed image for a long time. But last summer I noticed that GPS fix takes longer time to obtain and it's instable. Now I can't use navigation due to this problem.
