I put my SD card from my g3 in my note. How do I get the music off it?
Use My Files to view files on the sdcard. In order to see sdcard files on stock music player you would have to transfer to internal storage. They're is still not a clear answer why the files aren't visible via stock player.

Can you tell us what the name of the folder is that you have your music in? mine is in a folder named music and that didn't seem to do the trick.

Hello all, was wondering if someone might have some guidance for me as I can`t seem to find much on this topic.
I`d like to use mainly the stock apps for what I can on the Nexus but there are some things that I`d really like to be able to change. Number one of which is the stock music player. It doesnt seem to have any options/settings for anything. I'm basically just looking to be able to have the artist's name displayed and once you click it to go directly to song lists. I don't like that it opens into albums then song. Is there a way to change this?
Furthermore, if there isn't a way to change that, is it possible to remove the album art at least?
Thanks all
huh?

Using explorer show all files search in music folder for jpg, select all delete.
Probably, you have to add tags to your mp3s. The easiest way to do that, is looking for PC program to tagging mp3.

Only thing I could think of is either put it all in one folder so you only see one in gallery or delete it (of course you wouldn't have it in music player then ).

I highly recommend you download "QuickPic". By far the best Gallery viewer I've seen so far.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder&hl=en
In the app, their is an option to "hide" folders. Thats what I did so I wouldn't have to see all my album covers
All my music is in my extsdcard directory.
Also, most of the album art is embedded in the MP3 tags rather than a separate image in a folder, so I do not have this issue.

you don't need to delete any folders, find a ".nomedia" file in one of the folders on your phone and copy it into the folders that have pictures in them that you do not want displayed in the gallery

Try FolderMount. The Program can move your large Files to external SD.
Background: Carbonite Mobile only allows files saved/downloaded to device to be accessed via their app / saved files option.
Problem: I have saved MP3 audio books to my device.* When I click on one, I am only presented with 2 app choices: Google Music & VLC.
"Smart Audiobook Player" is not an option:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ak.alizandro.smartaudiobookplayer
See attached screen shots.
This is a problem because "Smart Audiobook Player" has features specific to listening to audiobooks (saving playback position within an MP3) that other apps don't have.
I assume that there is something that determines which apps are associated with which file types.
On a rooted device, can this be changed?
Is there some piece of metadata in the MP3 that will identify it as an audiobook vs a music file?
NOTE: I looked in the 'reset default apps' menu in Settings > Apps ..
Pls see attached screen shots.
Thanks!
