I use my phone for work and just leave it plugged in whenever on a conference call, so the screen doesn't time out (checked setting). Now I love the feature of the screen blacking out via proximity sensor whenever not using a BT, just my ear, then the screen turning back on when I move my head away.
However, whenever I'm away from the charger and on a call using my BT earpiece, the screen times out very quick. And there's no way to get the screen back on using the power button at that point, as it'll just hang up the call. My BT does not have mute functionality, and there are times when I need to click Mute or use the dial pad... and at that point, I'm SOL.
I've put a Screen On widget on my desktop and in the notification bar, but the screen times out too quickly for me to remember to tick it. And that's a pain to do anyway on every BT call when not connected to power.
Question... Is there any kind of setting that once the bluetooth option is checked in the dialer, that the screen could stay on longer? Or would this need a mod? Thanks.
I was wondering if there were a way that when I plug my headphones in that it wont automatically change the volume down.
Also is there a way that when my phone starts ringing that it wont start low and then get louder? Like the first ring will be lower than what follows. I just want it all the same. THANKS!
anybody? i hate that it does these things!
Tasker can do all of that, but takes some work.
I know in settings under sound or calls you can adjust the progressive ring feature. As far as head phones go it is a built-in safety precaution.
I just noticed this recently, maybe a day or two, but when I turn off my phone, I hear a loud sound from the speaker, not exactly sure what it is. Is this a phone problem?
Shouldn't be a weirs pop loud sound.
There's an option in sounds to enable or disable screen lock sound. Try disabling it and see if that fixes it

I tried that, it doesn't seem like the lock screen sound. I don't know how you'd describe it other than imagine force shutting down an old laptop by holding the power button and you hear some part of the computer shutting of instantly, but loudly? thats the best i can do lol
I noticed that sound too. But only once using a reboot tool. Uninstalled the app. Nothing since.
I got it a few times while doing unlocking/rooting, just about jumped from my seat the 1st time heh. Not during normal off/resets.
Same thing
Has anyone found a solution to this? I get it every time I reboot. Powering off normally doesn't 'pop'.
When I pull down the top menu (so to speak) and tap the bluetooth icon to turn on bluetooth, the phone always makes the notification sound. This is really annoying. It's the default notification sound so I can't just change the notification sound.
Am I missing some way that I can turn off the phone making a noise when I enable bluetooth?

I assume it is playing in both places, right? Speaker then your BT headphones? That's how it happens for me. I've wondered the same thing, but I'm guessing it plays in both places because it assumes you won't keep your headphones on all the time, and you won't hear the notifications in that case if it only plays in the BT headphones.
I've also noticed that in the car, when I have the S3 connected to my stereo via the headphone jack, the notification only plays through the phone speaker. It causes the playing music to reroute there briefly while it plays the sound...I know because the music stops, notification plays through phone speaker, music resumes through the phone speaker, then switches back to the headphone jack. very annoying.

You don't say if you are rooted but , if so, the blue15 toggle mod by DavidDee in Themes and Apps does not make this sound when activating Bluetooth.

Yes, I'm running the stock ROM but rooted. It appears that the sg3 ONLY makes the notification sound for turning on bluetooth if you do it through the pull down menu with the toggle bar at the top of the screen. If you go through menu/settings, or ANY kind of widget on the main screen, the notification sound doesn't come on.
I turn on bluetooth so I can use a headset and NOT bother other people, so setting off the notification sound when I turn on bluetooth is counter-productive.

The mod I mentioned is a replacement for the dropdown with extra options and triggering bluetooth from dropdown no longer makes this sound.
Hello
Is there any way to silence a call using the watch? I am not talking about rejecting the call, just to turn off the ringer.
It can be done by pressing the vol/power button on the phone but I cant find how to do it on watch.
quick google couldnt give me the answer, hope you guys know any way to acheive this
You can look at the app "Ringtone Remote" in Google Play. I haven't tried it, but it seems to be able to do what you want. It is also free!
When you cover the watch with a open palm, the watch will turn black and the phone will become silent and the call will continue to ring silently
Nice, didn't know that. It actually did work... the first time. When I test it the second time the call on the watch gets muted but the phone keeps on ringing, even though it did work the first time I tested.
thanks it works. But i dont get a 100% success rate. But it still works
Wear Mini Launcher, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.npi.wearminilauncher. It has a Widgets screen that controls multiple things on the phone, including allowing you to toggle speaker on, mute, or vibrate... from the watch.
I would also like to be able to touch one of the icons on the watch face that I am using to immediately mute the watches' speaker. That would solve your request and mine also. Thanks
