Hi everyone,
My One X used to have brilliant battery life. I didn't turn on the screen that often throughout the day, but I was able to regularly check the news, send and receive texts, make a few calls and - crucially - keep my Wifi on for the entire day. With this setup, I was regularly getting 4 or 5 days of usage without having to charge my phone. However, as soon as JellyBean came along as an official update, I grabbed it... since then, I'm lucky if I get a day and a half out of it before I need to plug it into the wall.
I'm not running any custom ROMs: just whatever I get through official O2 OTA updates. Battery usage says that 36% of my drain is due to Android OS, with another 20% due to Maps. The rest are tiny, only 2 to 5%. Now I understand that a new version of Android might make some new demands on the hardware, but from what I heard, the update was supposed to improve battery life if anything. Even with the new Power Saver feature on, the difference is minimal, with only a few hours standby time gained overall.
Can anyone suggest anything to remedy this, or is this fairly normal? It's not world-ending and perhaps I was just really lucky to get 5 days of use in the first place, but thought I'd ask the experts before I grin and bear it. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
19 hours and 40 minutes into this usage cycle, I've got 57% remaining. So it's shaping up to be about 40 hours of usage, down from 120 at its peak. Right now, it's also saying that Android OS has used 99% of my battery... and nothing else is on the list.
Does no-one have any idea what's going on?
Did you make an hard reset when you updated your phone?
This is why when you upgrade your phone to a newer Android version it is better if you perform a hard reset
AW: [Q] Battery life poor since JB
I suffer(ed) also under heavy drain due to maps since update to JB. But I'm convinced it's cause of Google Now. Disabled it yesterday and will check whether it gets better or not. Try disabling gnow and see if it gets better. I also had issues with gsam battery monitor in case you use this.

Would you consider rooting because custom roms like blade have great battery life

Thanks for this. Your suggestion got me checking for other people having issues with Google Now and battery life. I disabled it as you suggested and I'm definitely seeing an improvement. It's still not as good as it was, but I think I might be able to squeeze more than two days out of it now.
Do you have stock rom? Because I've just upgraded to JB yesterday and flashed a custom rom, and since then my battery is like 3 times more powerful.
You should definitely switch to a custom rom... Ever since I upgraded to JB I've seen a massive improvement in my battery life.. From barely making it through the day to almost 2days of my typical of usage.
Google Now does seem to kill battery as it polls the Google maps app a lot.. So I usually open task manager to make sure it isn't running in the morning background.

Guys am almost flashing 1 or 2 roms daily, till date i experinced with 7 r 8 roms..but none of them satisfied me...some ROM had problem with the basic things like camera, camcoder and other things, some other ROMs lack in battery usage...
So can someone sheds some light on this part...
As long as you're on a new stable ROM such as ICS you're battery should be fine. JB is too early to know really but it's fantastic for me. So, assuming you're now on a stable ROM (a non Sense ROM would be better too) the problem is either your battery or you. I would recommend getting a new battery if you still have the 2 year old one the phone came with, and tbh I'd recommend getting a new Ankers 1600 mAh anyway as they're fantastic, lasts me days.
Now that you're on stable ROM and have a shiny new battery, if you're battery life is still bad then the latter problem I mentioned applies, that is, you, or rather how you are using the phone.
If, like many other Vision users I see around the forums, you are overclocked to absurd speeds well over 1GHz running the performance governor then have I got news for you of course your battery life is going to be terrible. For this reason, tbh you really don't need to go over stock clock speed and if you use the Virtuous OC daemon then you can under clock significantly when the screen is off, this saves enormous amounts of battery life.
Also if you are using the phone constantly and have the screen very bright, data on all the time etc., then you've got to accept that you simply won't last more than a day between charges.
By the way I'm not going to recommend a specific ROM because as you should know "what ROM should I get" threads are not allowed, I just wanted to give you some general battery help.
Hope this helps

Am using this ROM : [Flinny] Andromadus Test builds - CM10.1[17]
and my phone is just 40 days old... so the battery will be fine abvsly... then i wont over clock it more than 850 mhz, so it satays under stock freq. then i will be using the mobile in half brightness,, i used to hear songs nd play games lil bit... even though my battery last for jus 12-15 hrs... thats y i doubt on the ROM, but am not sure ...
I used to root all of my previous Android phones, but when I got my Note 2 last year, battery life and performance was so good, I decided not to do it anymore and focus on other things. Well, after the 4.3 update, like so many others, my battery is now terrible...literally 30% less than it used to be even AFTER a factory reset with 4.3. For example, last night, while I was sleeping (and obviously not using my phone at all), I lost 22% battery over 6 hours...unacceptable.
Therefore, I want to root again and put a custom ROM on it...but I'd like to know the best combos out there for the Sprint Note 2? I know it's "personal preference" and "depends on usage, etc."...but what are some of the proven winners?
Any help would be appreciated...thanks in advance.

the rom that I have tried and keep coming to is virtue 1.a...the battery lasts me for a day and a few hours. with mild usage. it runs 4.2.2 I cant remember the kernel but it has great life. try it out
All the roms here are best, what is good for you is entirely up to you based on your testing and what you need.
Please take time to read, research, and test on your own.
Hi,
I have been having battery life issues with my Note 3 post Lollipop. Phone is not rooted, wifi off, gps off, almost all functions appear to be reduced to absolute minimal options, and yet the battery won't last a whole day any more. I do have to have Bluetooth on at all times for my Gear S ( which by the way, also no longer lasts all day since the update!)
I have checked which functions/apps appear to use the battery most, but it appears to vary very day. Sometimes it is bluetooth , other times the Android system, but after those two, the Unified Daemon and then Android OS follow.
I have not changed any settings from before, and yet the battery will typically last only 9-10 hours, with minimal use.
Sometimes when talking on the phone, it gets so uncomfortably hot after perhaps 5 min, I ended up putting it on speakerphone.. This is not with every call, just every now and then.
Any suggestions? I don't want to take it back to T-Mobile just yet, even though I am eligible to jump to a new phone, I want to wait for the new Note in the fall...
Thanks for any suggestions...
According to other smart watch users, including the Gear 2 Neo, there are no ill effects on the watch from disabling the daemon. Clear the cache from the application itself once it's been disabled and reboot. Users here report at least 20-30% battery life improvements.

Thanks, giving that a try now. But since this battery drain happens on my Gear S as well, and one of the main drains is bluetooth, I wonder if there is an issue there in addition to the daemon...
I read somewhere the unified daemon is what gets you your news updates, accu weather, etc notifications.
When I first got the Note 3, it bugged me that in order to have a decent battery life, I had to disable all the things that make this phone so cool....seems there is a point you might as well not have one. Just venting my frustration now...
How did you update to 5.0? I did the OTA update, and had similar issues. I did a factory reset, and now it's awesome.
Factory reset to the rescue. !

I agree. My battery is better with lollipop. Easily get 1.5 -2 days low use
What's the average battery life you guys are getting after the August security update?
I'm new to the active since I just got it as a temporary swap for my Note 7. I don't have a long research record. I can say though that this thing has the most impressive battery of any phone I have owned by far! I took it off charge at 6 am. I used out all day as usual. I then went out of town and didn't get home until 3 am the next morning. I STILL had some juice! No other phone has made it through an entire day of my usage. Including the Note 7, LGG4, G3, Nexus 5, Optimus G Pro, or anything else. I'm impressed.
Note7
I can attest to the great battery life too. Best Android stock battery life. I can get better with other phones but even then it requires custom roms and kernels. Since we don't have root yet for the S7A, I'm forced to use it as is and it's been impressing me. The only thing I dislike is the video recording stutter I have from time to time...
I dunno I feel like my Sony z3 had better battery life before I broke it but I can't remember if I was rooted. Still this is one of the best phones i have.
