(My apologies if this topic has been addressed elsewhere.)
It drives me absolutely crazy when I'm composing SMS, for example, and someone calls. I must stop whatever it is I'm doing and wait for the caller to stop ringing. Is there some other way, short of using flight mode or blacklisting/blocking numbers, to deal with this situation? It would not be so bad if I could ignore select calls (w/o hanging up on the callers) and carry on about my work without interruption.
Thanks for any advice you may have.
My phone (imate PDA2k with PDA2k 1.40 ROM) has a popup window that actually says answer or ignore.
I click on ignore. It takes it a second to figure it out but they just go straight to voicemail when I do that.
Yeah, mine gives the "answer" or "ignore" bubble, too, but if I tap ignore I only have the caller trying again two seconds later. This, repeatedly. It might be 5 minutes before I can get back to my work! So, in effect, "ignore" hangs up on them. I need something to keep all dialogues out of sight so as not to disturb whatever work I may be doing. I want to know when someone is calling me, but I want the option of knowing or not knowing who it is. In other words, a ring is ok, but the dialogue is intrusive and frustrating.
you might want to use sms notifier. with it, you can immediately hangup & the caller will get a pre-defined message from you, like..."pls don't bug me, i'm having fun right now." or something similar.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm just wary of having yet another program running in the background constantly. Sorry this has turned into one of those nagging pet peeves.... I think what I need is a third-party program that will make the incoming call dialogue less intrusive -either smaller (why must it take up the whole screen and stop me from doing other things?) or optionally hidden. If anyone knows of such a thing, please advise.
When I am in a text conversation my dinc will not sound an alert if I leave the conversation open. I only get a new alert sound if I close the coversation. Does anyone know how to change this so that I get an alert? Is this suppose to be this way? Is this a bug?
Mine is the same way, so I just got used to exiting out of the conversation. If there is a fix that would be sweet!!
Its that way because its like being in a chat with someone. Why would you need it to make a sound if your looking right at the screen in the middle of a chat? I'm sure way more people would complain if it was like that.
I think if you just turn the screen off on your phone it will make a sound even if you dont exit out.
I would not want it to make a sound if im staring right at the screen talking back and fourth with someone. The only timei would want it to make a sound is if i wasnt in conversation and needed to be alerted that someone texted me or if my screen was off. Wich is exactly how it works.
Just me
I do agree that I wouldn't want an alert every time if I was staring at the screen through the whole conversation.
even if I turn the screen off it doesn't give an alert. That would be a good solution.
But, the best thing for me would be if there was a toggle to make it alert me every time, as I usually don't stay still and text very often. I will send a text and set the phone down, or put in pocket, or holster...then continue what I was doing until I hear an alert. That is what works for me.
the issue is when I don't back out of the text app and start doing something else and I receive a text from that same person, it won't sound an alert. Screen on or off.
I'm definitely not trying to say that the app or the phone sucks. Just asking if there was a way to alleviate the issue I am describing. Or maybe there was an app, or a rom that might do what I am talking about .
******edit....just did a test. Tonight my dinc would alert me if the screen was off, and I left the conversation open. I'm pretty sure it didn't do this before. Or at least at times it wouldn't do this. Maybe it didn't alert me before because the other person actually responded before the screen turned off...or maybe I just didn't hear it...lol...either way, for my purpose it would be nice for my purposes if there was a toggle to change this.
Thanks,
Jon

I had the same issue before if I left the conversation open and the screen was off and it wouldn't alert me at all. I haven't checked this out as of recent because I got so used to just going to the home screen after I sent a text. I'll check and see if it works now.
this "problem" has every now then started very minor communication arguments with the gf. it sometimes makes me look like a damn fool.
Guys,
I want to ask a question... with the screen on, when I get a phone call, I can push the menu button to send a text message with a standard text like "I'm busy right now, I call you later"...
- is there a way that I can change this text?
When my screen is off, and the sense 3 lockscreen kicks in when I receive a phonecall, I only got two options, answer or decline... Is there a way to get the menu button to work for me with the text message as mentioned above? This would especially come in handy, because I usually get phonecalls with the screen off...
any ideas, tips, tricks etc?
many thanks in advance
to change the default text menu>settings>call>phone settings>edit default message.
your right about no menu if incoming call when screen off! fix needed
We are having severe weather and appears Sprint is sending auto weather alert mms very 15 mins. You can delete it, you can not responds and after deleting you keep getting it over and over having to delete it each time it pops up.
Thanks,

I have my go weather app weather alerts turned off.
Solution is to go into text messages settings and uncheck alerts you dont want. It is coming from FEMA and you can not opt out of presidential alerts, all others you can. See print screens. It is a free service from government and will scare the crap out of you he first time it goes off and you don't know where it is coming from. It makes a loud sound just like on tv when there is a weather left and interrupts your show. It started around 6-30-12 and mainly on newer phones like ours. Sorry Apple. Lol hope you don't get this warning sound while driving.
I got it once and that was it maybe its just yours?
Sent from my Galaxy S3
Here is a print screen of the mms. It wakes the phone on, sounds a loud alarm on the lock screen with option to view only. Sprint customer tech said to dial ##2626# on the dial and to select opt out but, when you dial the number, it says it is an invalid number. Called back Sprint tech and waiting on his call back.

Thanks, been getting them for the past 45 minutes and was getting annoyed.
Edit. Deleted saw the answer is in the OP.
As the title says, sometimes I wonder why review sites miss out covering the most basic elements of a phone's interface. It's inexplicable. I've scoured websites for this information, and I've kind of found out a few of them, but no one site has it all and it would be a great help to me to decide on this phone, and maybe for others as well.
Requesting screenshots for the following:
Incoming call screen with contact picture (before answering)
Incoming call screen without contact picture (before answering)
Outgoing call screen (before answering)
Ongoing call screen with contact picture
Ongoing call screen without contact picture
Missed calls / messages notifications on the lockscreen
Thanks for obliging!
BUMP!
Here are a few of the screens you requested.
The ones WITH Caller ID would just put the contact image in place of the blank one.

EDIT: Also, I believe that missed calls that HAVE an ID will show up on the lockscreen, and not just the status bar. I just don't have a second phone to confirm that with right now.
Thank you so much for that!!
So the picture size is going to be pretty small then for caller ID.
