I've delayed posting this for quier a while out of sheer laziness.
I wanted to try to change the boot animation after rooting with towelroot. Because I couldn't be bothered doing it manually, I downloaded a boot animation app to change it for me. I was trying to change it to the Nexus Pie BA. Immediately I rebooted it to test if ig was working.
It ran through the first un-animated LG logo, then went (backlit) black. I figured maybe it hadn't installed correctly, so I'd just wait a little longer for it to finish booting up. Eventually I realized it wasn't going to. It was pretty much stuck on a backlit black screen. I knew it was responding because it would vibrate when I hit the nav buttons. When I rotated it, about 30% of the screen was working normally. I later factory reset it, and it booted fine and was working, but I eventually had to turn it off and the screen stopped displaying things again.
What should I do?
I really need to know how to fix this issue somehow, it's been a brick for too long.
Cheers to anyone who can help.

Hi guys, I'm having this WEIRD WEIRD problem after messing around with the phone.
Here's what happened:
2 days ago, I received the phone. After unboxing it and playing with it for like 10 minutes, turning it on and off often, messing round with the features. Then, the phone rebooted by itself. After that, boot loop. It'd get stuck at the green HTC screen forever. I have no idea what happened, so I tried factory reset. Didn't work. Recovery, also stuck. So I brought it home and looked into rooting/flashing.
Now, the phone is running RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.19.707.7_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126179_signed. SOMETIMES, the phone would boot in and I would be able to use it, but most often it'd just keep restarting and then hang at the green HTC screen, or maybe get the quietly brilliant and then restart.
What should I do? I have the RUU for 1.19.707.6, but with that RUU, it keeps saying that it can't see my phone. Sigh.
I can get into fastboot, but no guarantee after that. What should I do? Can't bloody swap it, coz I imported it

sounds like a h/w problem to be honest
Is it possible that this is a firmware problem? I'd hate to have to send it back for repairs, cost a lot.
I did the heap-test command, and everything is ok. So where could the problem be?. Can't even boot using fastboot oem boot. Any ideas?
PS: I think I have the correct RUU for my phone. Always complete without a hitch.
Phone: SGH-T989
ROM: Jedi Mind Trick X4
I'm going to try to explain this the best I can so... my apologies for any loops or confusing parts in my story.
~Basically once my phone was removed from being charged, it jumped itself into some kind of boot loop. I did not do anything just unplug it and check the time
~~The process it went though before it started to work again
~It ended up just shutting down and booting up. When it booted in only got as far as the "Deviant Development" screen and the load bar only loaded up to about 20-30% before it just rebooted itself. From there my phone was stuck on vibration. It would only vibrate for a split second, stop and vibrate again. Even if I tried to get it to make it load the TWRP recovery screen it would just boot itself again once the "Team Win" logo appeared. (Update) Device options randomly appeared by itself when I went to put it on sleep. I just tapped the button and from there it just rebooted itself.
**Question**
I'm just curious to know if anyone may know why my phone suddenly acted like that, my phone has no damage at all, never been dropped. First I ever experienced this. Any advice or suggestions?

Sounds like you have a sticky power button. I think there are a few threads about it on here if you search.
hi all. I'm new to the site and to the LG g pad 8.3 v500
well, after a successful root via the "kingo" method yesterday, all was well...until today.
1st issue.
v slow boot up. after I press the power button, the "LG" logo comes up, but there is no animation, until 1-2min later. then the animation starts, goes back to the logo and stays there for a further 1-2min with the white whoosh (only words I can describe it) going around the logo. after then it boots up normally ???
2nd issue.
screen rotation. tonight, the screen rotation has decided not to work and lock in one position. I have turned on & off the screen rotation in the settings, with no joy. one thing I did find, when I tried to calibrate the device, after I placed it flat & as soon as I press the "calibrate" button, a pop-up screen appears, saying that "com.android.settings has stopped working" and as soon as I press the "ok" button, I go back to the home screen ???
for both issues, I have rested & turned on the device, with no effect. would doing a factory reset fix this?
thanks in advance for reading this post & any help if given ?
***UPDATE***
i have managed to fix both (and may be more) issues. it was a bit of a drastic move, but i done a full restore back to a previous back-up, that i done before i attempted the "Kingo" root. ok, restoring back to this point, i have lost all the apps that i put on there, and i was expecting to loose the root that i had already done, but to my surprise, the root is still there and working :good:
the boot up time has now gone back to normal, instead of the 4min boot up time that it was. and the rotation from portrait to landscape has also returned :victory:
***UPDATE 2***
ok...my previous ***UPDATE*** was a bit premature. it worked fine all day, until i done a restart after re-installing all of my previous apps from the play store. again, it takes an age for it to re-boot. i have also noticed when i press the volume button (either up or down), instead of increasing the "Music, Video etc" volume, it changes the "Notifications" volume. but the screen rotation is ok this time
i have done a restore and the boot time has gone back to normal, but the volume is still the same. is there any way to re-configure this???
my other question is, is there a way i can DL the original ROM from somewhere. so i can un-root in "SuperSU", restore back to factory, then re-root?
***UPDATE 3***
right...after a lot of installing of apps and restoring back to stock, i have finally managed to find the program that was causing the long boot-up issue. the culprit was "Cydia Substrate". as soon as i un-installed the app, my boot times went back to normal. i have since messaged the author via twitter. lets hope he can fix the issue.
as for the ROM DL. it turns out, that i cant to a simple search. or i was blind at the time. as there is a thread regarding this "HERE"
i also figured out the music volume problem...and im a bit embarrassed about this. because of the above issues, i had not put any music onto tablet or into the SD mem card. so the music apps that i installed, could not find any music to play. so in-turn, the tablet could not turn up or down the music volume, as there was no music install on it. oops....lol
its amazing what a bit of true grit and determination (and a bit of vodka) can achieve...lol
Two days ago, my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 dropped out of my coat pocket as i was running for the bus. I picked it up and saw the screen was cracked along the top left and bottom left hand side. Everything was working for the past two days and i figured i'll just wait till Christmas to get a new phone. This morning i took my phone off the charger and turned it on. The Samsung logo flashed, and then the boot animation for Slimrom (the custom rom i'm currently running on) flashed for about a second but then the screen went black. I did a battery pull but the weird thing is whenever i put my battery back in, even without touching the power button, it boots up by itself but then the screen goes black again. I can access TWRP and download mode but they both go black after a few seconds as well. I was able to successfully turn on my phone and have it fully function for about 15 minutes after putting it back on the charger, but it quickly blacked out again. It also keeps randomly booting up by itself which is weird. Im guessing this is a problem with the screen itself, but could it be a software issue because the device keeps booting up by itself? If it is the screen, will i have to buy a new one or is it not worth it? I've also tried using a different battery and i have the same issue so it can't be that. Any help is appreciated!
Sounds like an issue with the power button, it probably got stuck somehow either when you dropped it, or after you dropped it. Do a simple search for power button and you will find ways to fix it!
Holy crap i didn't even think of that! It makes total sense since every time i even tap my power button, even for just a second, it turns on. I've read around that clearing the cache or a factory reset could work. Is this true?
Unlikely, unless it's a software issue but it's always a possibility. Slam the phone against something to try to get the power button back into place, or open it up and try to see if you can fix it yourself, or replace it
The problem seems to be gone. I haven't had any issues for two days now. All i did was press the power button really hard multiple times. Thanks for you help man!
Generally when I get refurb, I have pretty good luck, but perhaps the forces that be are saying I shouldn't have one. When I first ordered, I got one with a dead pixel. Couldn't fix it, so I sent it back. Just today I got my replacement. I was pretty excited since the tablet looks brand new (still has most of the plastic on it around the edges. I charge it for a bit, turn it on and....
It played the Samsung startup music, but the screen stayed black. Didn't show anything. Keys lit up like they should, everything sounded normal, but was just black. For a while nothing happened, then finally the screen came on. It seemed to act normal from there on. Thinking nothing of it, maybe it was just a glitch, I took a few OTA updates. Every time it reboots, the screen issue comes up. And while it was updating, it didn't show the android updating screen. Also, I can't get it to go into recovery. Perhaps I actually am, but the screen is off so I can't see. I've searched and can't find anyone with a similar issue. Since this is my second device, should I just send it back and ask for a refund or is there something I can do to try and fix it?

Well to force reboot, hold and press power+home+volume up and down until it reboots. Have you tried to also factory reset in recovery?

I was trying to say I can't get into recovery. I don't know if it actually is in recovery with the screen off, or if I just cant get to it at all.
Additionally I just tried a KIES update, and it did not take. When I plug into KIES it says the same update is available even after I just updated it. Just now doing a software factory reset. So far no change. Unless someone can provide me information on how to fix this, looks like I'll be sending it back.
You will know if you're in recovery if you type 'adb devices' into a command window with the usb cable attached.
If it returns a set of numbers you're in recovery.
