[Q] Voice Calls on the Unofficial Beautiful Beanstalk for GT-N5100 - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

First things first. Congratulations to the developer for this amazing ROM. I desperately want to use it as my daily driver on my 5100. The problem is that I use my tablet as a phone and voice calls have proven to be completely unreliable on this CM based ROM. I wonder if there is a resolution to this problem. Can the calling function be restored to normal, how it should be on a phone?
Somebody asked this question on the developer thread, only to be completely ignored. I wonder if this is too noobish a concern?
Any help would be highly appreciated. Dying to move away from Touchwiz...
Thanks

It's a general problem of all CM based ROMs. Think we will never get a solution for that on our N5100

[Q] ICS ROM for i317 port request?

Okay, so I've had i317 for about 4 months now, its a great phone. I would just love to see an ics 4.0.4 rom, be it stock or aosp,, aokp, etc for this device. The reason being is that there are alot of apps I used to use, such as UMA and a few others I cannot remember as of right now. Forgive me if this isn't the correct area to post the question lol. But can anyone possibly help me with my issue I'm having? A. ort or something would be ideal if possible.
On a side note: I have some prior knowledge with developing roms and getting them to work fully and such, like betas alphas and what not. just haven't gave much thought as to post on the forum untill now. So I'm not completely of the noob calibur so to speak.
Lastly, my final question, would anyone be interested in deving up a 100% pure custom 4.3 rom that is completely Pokemon themed right down to the contacts and dialer. I will include more detail upon request, also one that isn't 10.1 based or cm in general. The reason I say non cm based is because volume+ sound boost breaks the speaker and crackles pretty badly, and i am partialy deaf so the apk is much needed. Any help would be be very appreciated and id be eternally greatful.

This probably won't happen due to the fact the bootloader won't support ICS and even if you got it to the amount of edits you would have to do to a ICS kernel to try to get it to work with the 4.3 code would be a lot. It would be better to find new apps that you can use if possible. Or you could nexus s, an old galaxy nexus or maybe a galaxy s 2.

I understand that entirely, I just have security concerns. Not sure if your familiar with the app called ultimate mobile armour, but that app was amazing, until it was pulled for reasons unknown. If there are apks greatly similar to ultimate mobile armour, please let me know. Any attempt to secure my device is greatly appreciated.
As for the above OP, would a 4.1Base ROM be possible of having the ICS kernel ported and coded/written or is this idea just a pipe dream? I'm up for any theories and ideas.
I do everything from my mobile as I do not own a computer...horrible I know.
Unfortunately no, since the note ii was released with 4.1.1 only that source code is available. UNLESS a developer starts from scratch. That's what I think, correct me if I'm wrong though

[Q] 4.4... to flash or not to flash

Would any of you who are currently running one of the 4.4 roms care to give some feedback on your experience - I've used CM 7-10, SlimBean 4.3, and Pacman 4.3 before on other devices...
Hopefully this isn't a redundant post, but I don't see nearly as much use feedback as I had in traditional threads that I've seen in other forums. Though there seems to be a much lower volume of people in this forum as well... Hopefully this doesn't piss off developers as that's not my intention... I need my phone to function as a daily driver... so I'm asking for feedback before I greatly alter my phone...
Do you use a 4.4 rom you use as your daily driver?
Are there any gotcha's or does the rom fulfill your every need/desire?
Does Wi-Fi work consistently/well?
Does bluetooth/A2DP streaming work consistently/well? Does the music app provide mp3 tag info via a2dp? (what music app do you use?)
How's the camera image quality? (I feel like the stock 4.3 camera leaves something to be desired with is sad... Has the CM team fixed sphere so it's functional/consistent? Does it do panorama shots?
How's system stability? (This may be meaningless if everyone's flashing nightlies everyday)
How's call quality?
Does your phone Heat up with basic use? How's battery life?

Well, I recommend you to read the threads about every 4.4 based rom, then you'll know most of the issues. I wouldn't use any of them.
Before my last Nexus 4, I had a Razr Maxx with 4.4.2 Slim rom. The first week using as my main rom everything was fine, fast, stable and battery saver. But all the problems started in the second week. Freezing at main screen, force closing most of the apps... I had to reinstall or even update to another version.
I got tired of that and rolled it back to Stock 4.1.2. The phone gained another stand. More battery life (3300mah was awesome), speed and stability. My sister still using it with the same version and she had no problems in five months.
If you decide to use, you'll need patience to keep updating your phone constantly till the final release.
The reason I'd created this post is because much of the information I was asking about wasn't apparent in either the FXP or Omni posts...
When I look at the 4.4 issues log on the FXP post, I see so many issues that would directly impact me, I'm concerned about actually running that.
Perhaps I'm finding the wrong threads, but there isn't alot of extra info in the ZL forums... I'm unsure if the Z forum posts apply.

Please take some time to review the development threads and make this determination based on your reading and studying. There are plenty of quality products available for you to try to see which suits your needs the best.

Sound problem

Hello,
I've got recently this phone and I kind of like it. The only reason was the qwerty keyboard.
The biggest problem I have with this phone is the sound. Every messenger app (skype, yahoo, viber etc) has the same problem. The receiving sound is slow and ununderstandable.
The current ROM installed CM 10.1 Kernel 3.1.10 android 4.2.2
I am a newbie in installing ROMs, but if I could I'd go straight to android 2.3.5
CM 10.1 is very laggy, with lots of problems (missing calls, GPS connectivity, maps, performance etc).
Anyone had this problem and solved it?
Thank you
P.s. I searched in the forum about this issue, but didn't have much luck.
Whos CM 10.1 are you using? Also CM 10.1 is no longer being updated,I suggest you use CM 10.2 by Bubor or a 4.3+ ROM
If you need more help please post back
The sound issue is with voice recording, any action with VoIP, dictaphone, voice dialing etc. will make sound playback distorted for some time. This issue exist in any ROM after stock ICS, so if this is very important for you, you'd better stay with stock. Here's the link: Stock UCLJ3.
If you wish a newer ROM, such as CM 10.1.3 or CM 11, there is workaround with VoIP sound called Tinyalsa stack, but it broke GSM call receiving sound. You can look here.
Also, I should say that CM 10.1.3 and CM 11 I linked have almost no issues beside this VoIP. GPS working great, no missing calls, no reboots, great performance and no battery draining. But I recommend to try and find what will suit you best.

Hello,
Yes I use skype calling a lot, I need this feature working. So you are suggesting me to install the android 4 stock version from samsung, but from what I red, there is an issue with the qwerty keyboard light. If this is true, it confirms my first idea to go with android 2.3.5
Thank you for your replies!
Samsung fixed the keyboard issue and a lot of other stuff in their 2nd release of stock ice. If you see those types of complaints, they are from the first revision.
I'm running stock and the only two issues I have is general UI laggieness (which is expected since its stock with bloat and not really optimized, also running on an older phone with no project butter). Along with messaging notifications failing to make any noise at random. I'll get a new text message and the screen will light up, but doesn't viberate or make a sound at random. Incoming calls still ring just fine though.
Other than those two issues (lag really isn't an issue for me), stock works just fine for me.

Yes, I recommend to install stock 4.0.4, it's the best way I know to have working GSM and Skype calling at the same time without needing to switch alsas stacks. j.asir here using new CM with tinyalsa fix and terminal shortcut - that's a bit inconvenient, but at this time there's no better way to go if you wish to have newest android and skype calls.
I newer tried 2.3.5 ROM on this phone, so I can't comment anything about it. If you try vanilla 2.3.5, please write about the results!

Hi @Makshow, have you considered using a 2.3.5 ROM? I have considered the possibility of doing so as I've heard that our device running GB has no issues at all... or so I've heard, but I honestly haven't had the time to test it. I was considering the possibility of using Inception (Back in black), but the download links are not available. If my Glide would work smooth and with no issues with GB I'd be glad to use it. If you decide to go for a GB ROM could you please provide me with some feedback? I would really appreciate it if you do so. I am not so cool with using ICS as stock is very battery & RAM consuming. And I was not so convinced using Litekernel or literom. Literom is really cool, but it has some issues and glitches that I found very disturbing. If you do go for GB please provide me with some feedback :highfive: Regards
I got this phone with new ROM already installed, so I won't try flashing 2.3.5 GB Android, I have no experience with this at all. Sorry. And I doubt that there weren't any issue with GB, one can search older posts in these forums and see that there were many bugs and bloat and troubles.
As for working download link for INC3PTION 2.3.5 ROM, there is one from Androide3 here. You can try it.

Hello @Androide3, thank you for your response. How long have you been using it? Have you had any issues? Is your battery life good? How about RAM usage?
BTW is there a specific method to install this ROM? I ask since I have never used GB. My phone came with ICS already
Thanks for details given in this thread.
Where can I find the stock android 4.0.4 second version?
An other quick question (I know this is an off topic question), is the samsunng galaxy s i9000 battery the same with the i927 batter?
Thank you

Hi, I hope this is what you're looking for: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994902
I read in some other post, do not remember where lol, but I saw at least 3 different persons that were using the i9000 battery for the Glide, which has 1800mAh capacity I believe :good:

This custom rom Sh*t is very annoying. I can't get rid of this crappy cyanogenmod rom
Wasted almost a day reading pointless posts all over the internet and still nothing clear on how to go back to official samsung stock android.
I'm going to get this phone to the service!
We have a fix now

Listen may i know it got really annoying with the sound.. but we have a fix now...
its a third party app which you can use.. its very easy to use and one time setup only
just get any kitkat rom..
its stable and only stops working if the app gets killed but otherwise i have tested it extesively
try it out and i would suggest omnirom to you if u prefer simplicity.

Finally I did it!
Finally I did it!
Ok, it was very easy and I feel kind of stupid  but as for the first time I'm still proud.
The major problem I couldn't install the stock rom was because of twrp. I had a old version, 2.4 I believe.
I managed to over install cwm v 6.whatever which was compatible with i927 and re-tried to install the stock rom and IT WORKED!
The stock rom is great! the phone is much much much quicker than with cm10.2. All features work! skype calls, voice recording, map, camera rotation, etc. Will see if I will lose any missed call.
The problem, I'm facing now is the sd card and internal memory which were inverted during cm10.2, but I am sorting things out.
I'm a bit disappointed that I lost all the installed apps with cm10.2. and I can not re-install them again. I have only the option to update it which won't work. Any idea?

[Q] Some Question with Developers

Hi Guys,
First of all I must appreciate of all developers who work on Gnexus.
I have a main question and this is: Why no one (of developers) try to complete his/her project?
I mean most of them decided to get right of his/her Rom while there are some f.. bugs in these Roms, especially about 5.1.1 for Gnexus. I know that our Gnexus maybe has low ram, weak CPU or ... but there are a lot of developer in XDA who work on older phone than ours and are successful to make or cook a bugless Rom. You can easily look around.
I think either our developer couldn't Fix main bugs or it is not worth to Fix them for people that are waiting to use their creation and enjoy 5.1.1 or 6 Android.
I hope someday someone appears and solve all of bugs in this phone.
Unfortunately I have no knowledge to develop a Rom.
