[Q] Does Moto 360 support Bluetooth SPP? - Moto 360

I want to create a smart watch app that can connect to any Bluetooth SPP (Serial Port Protocol) source, and then carry on a text conversation on the watch face (kind of like a Hyperterm session).
Is this even possible with the Moto 360 SDK?
Can anyone suggest an approach?
Is there any smart watch SDK out there with the capability to develop this? The only other way I see of doing this would be to root a watch with my own kernal, but I'm not prepared to do that.

Anyone aware of an app that makes your phone a remote keyboard

I know I am not the first one to think of this but I was wondering if anyone is aware of development of a remote control/keyboard app for use with the PS3 and 360 (wii gets no love)? I would love to have the functionality of using my phone for both devices at home.
I was playing around with a remote play option on the PS3 and app called BD remote but it doesnt seem to pair the two. I got the idea after downloading pocket blu app and I was able control Inglorious Basterds via wifi. That in of itself was cool but I craved more control.
I dont write code so Im of no help here. I could try but I dont think that will be fruitful.

This should probably be in Q&A or Apps section, so try posting there next time.
As for your question, it would be virtually impossible on the 360. The 360 doesn't use bluetooth or wifi, and it would be virtually impossible to have a server application running on it anyway. Maybe if you hacked your 360, added wifi and did a lot of jerryrigging, you'd get it to work. PS3 uses both bluetooth and wifi, but I don't know if its possible to port applications to it without hacking. Again, I think the real challenge is to run some sort of server on the device. The app for your phone is easy, the server side would be really tricky. Don't have a PS3, so I don't know much about it, but 360 is definitely out.
Maybe this will give you a hint. I've successfully tried it in Windows.

Not the same as what you're looking for specifically, but Gmote and Remote Droid will do that.
Gmote is awesome. I love how it turns your phone into a laptop like trackpad for your PC.

[Q] G-Nexus Android Auto Rom using Android Wear APIs

I am pitching an idea that I have no idea how to implement. I am NOT a developer nor would I be able to acquire the skills necessary quickly. the reason for this post is to ask the community if it would be possible to create a ROM for the Galaxy Nexus or some other old easily unlockable phone that would mimic the functionality of an Android wear watch for use as a head unit in a vehicle similar to Android auto. Of course the ROM would not be the only custom aspect of this project one would also need to create or modify the wear UI in order to facilitate the functions of Android auto. the reason I believe Android wear API would be a good starting place for this project is because internet connection is shared between client and server devices. this would facilitate sharing of information between the devices without needing an Internet connection on the vehicle side. this would also allow the phone to automatically connect wirelessly to the head unit. the current Android auto hacks all require USB OTG. let me know your thoughts and try not to flame me too badly.
Which "Android auto hacks" ?
You mean my Headunit app ?
Android Auto has code to do AA over WiFi direct.
I will try to find a way to enable it, and make it work with my app.
USB is a PITA for anything besides charging.
WiFi Direct P2P will have it's own problems of course, but I'm really getting a hate-on for USB and the Host mode issues.

Is AA here short for Android Auto?
Will WiFi direct allow for automatic connections without removing device from holster/ pocket?
The other issue with using a real Android Auto app is the lollipop requirement. My Daily driver is a droid turbo and there's no telling when my phone will get its update. ( and the bootloader has a damn chastity strap)

[Q] Sync only to Cloud

Hey Everyone!
I just bought a Moto 360 even though I have an iPhone. Through the use of a trusty old Xperia U I managed to do the first configuration and update to the latest O.S. on the watch, adding the Wi-Fi standalone connectivity.
The use I want to do of the device is the following:
Occasionaly, through the Android phone, add watch faces
Siply use the watch standalone for Steps, Heart Rate, and notifications maybe with Aerlink
At this point I would like to set the watch to connect to my home wifi network, and simply upload the fitness data to Google fit in the cloud, without ever using my old android phone (except for new watch faces or changing configuration or updates). Can anyone help me out in achieving this??
Thanks to all!!

Root SW 3 to use with iphone...

Is it possible to intall apps on the sw3 and use it with an iphone?
All Android Wear watches, including the Sony Smartwatch 3, work with the iPhone. If your watch is too old you might need to connect it to an Android phone or computer to install an update first. The iPhone does not support apps but if you have an app that it completely independent (doesn't need a companion app on the phone to work) then you can download the Android APK and extract the watch's micro-APK from it, then use adb to install it to the watch.
any instructions on how to do this
Anybody where uses is Sony Smartwatch 3 with iphone?
i want to install more APPS but i don´t know how...
Any updates on this topic?

Hello, any news on this topic? I am wondering in using the SW3 as a standalone device with no pairing to any smartphone. Do you think this will be possible? Wifi and BT options only display when connected to an Android smartphone, not by pairing to iPhone.
Thank you.

This is not possible; you have to set up the watch with a phone before you can use it. Android Wear 2.0 will allow standalone apps, but I'm not sure about using the watch without setting it up with a phone, especially when the watch won't have its own cellular connection.

Moto 360 w/ iOS - Music help

Hey everyone,
So, i've taken the plunge and have purchased a Moto 360 (first gen) instead of the Apple Watch. I just preferred the look of it TBH.
Now that i've been able to finally upgrade the OS on the watch in order to pair it with my iPhone, I've run into some issues with a few things.
1) How can I download music for OFFLINE playback via bluetooth? I have Google Play music on my iPhone, but I don't seen an option for downloading anything to the Wear app.
2) I've read that the FACER app CAN be used w/o an Android phone, but i'm not sure how to do it?
The music functionality is the main thing i'm looking for. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

1. Doesn't work with iOS. You can only sync music for offline with an Android phone, not an iPhone
2. Works only with iOS if the watch have a USB connection for side loading. Moto 360 does not have a USB port thus it will not work when paired with iOS need an Android Phone again.
