Phone powers on gets to AT&T logo and stops.
Tried installing Clockworkmod but now when I hold power, home and volume up screen scrambles.
I canstill get into Download mode.
Before I installed Clockworkmod I got an E: failed to mount /efs (invalid argument) when clearing cache and wipe factory reset.
Rooted phone and thought I could just install a new mod like cyanogen but cannot get cwm to work now.
Help please. been going in circles looking for factory reset images etc paying for download sites etc.

i was attempting to update my phone using the clockworkmod recovery program.
once i followed the video for installing this i went to the update.zip file on my phone
this performed nicely. when the phone went to reboot it stayed stuck on the boot up screen where it shows htc and then verizon and just kept looping. after awhile it did nothing so i went back and did a wipe data/factory reset. now the phone only boots into the bootloader/ recovery function then goes to the clockworkmod recovery screen. i cannot install anything that will get me back to my phone functioning at all. i get these error messages E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblkOp2
(invalid argument)
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.0.1.3
E:Can' mount CACHE:recovery/log
any suggestions?
Mine did that and I had to send it back for a replacement one.

I am having the same problem. So did you download a stock zip or nandroid. I am having trouble restoring (and mounting) cache and data. Any advice would be appreciated.
E:unknown volume for path cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
Not sure what to do, I a running CWM 5.0.2.3 . When I boot the phone it just stays on the screen with the yellow exclamation point. When I boot into recovery, I get the errors above. It won't let me do anything. When I try to install zip it says "E:Can't mount /sdcard/"
Any suggestions?
got it working.
Formatted SD Card and that didn't work
Reflashed (Odin) CWM and did update for root
Downloaded Rom and flashed it.
Not sure what happened to cause this.
what did you flash back? My friend is having the same problem....I don't know how he f-ed up. Suggestions anyone? Should I tell him to flash stock kernal back in odin?
I'm having the same issue, how did you fix this? I cant flash because I cant mount the sdcard

Ok guys, I'm freaking out a little here...
So I flashed the latest Hypernote Pegasus 1.0 after Wanam 2.4 (performed full wipe, format system e.t.c). Everything went to plan except that I lost my phone signal on bootup. I assumed this was due to the imei getting corrupted, so I performed an efs restore. Bad idea. I rebooted and got stuck at the boot logo.
I then flashed a stock H3G DLL4 odin ROM, same story - boot anim loop.
So I flashed PhilZ's recovery and performed another EFS restore, still stuck at boot anim loop.
What on earth do I do to get my phone working!? Please help guys as I'm close to pulling out my hair!
After flashing... battery pull. Get into recovery and factory reset + wipe cache partition

Dude, seriously...did you read my post? I've wiped everything everything multiple times, even factory reset through kies (by downloading the stock rom) and my phone is still stuck at the boot anim!

I might have pinpointed the issue, apparently the stock recovery says "E:failed to mount /efs" invalid argument.
Anyone know how to get my EFS working again?
Did u backup your efs prior to flashing?

Yes.
I've tried restoring the image through Phil Z recovery, but same issue.
it seems that you did not back up your own efs, if your phone have a contract then you have to find the efs fit your phone.

I did back up the EFS, I have the file stored on my computer. It's a ~20mb .img file
Fixed for those that want to know:
I had to run and adb shell in CWM and enter the commands:
mke2fs / dev/block/mmcblk0p3
mount-w-t ext4 / dev/block/mmcblk0p3 / efs
Then restored my EFS backup through PhilZ's CWM. Rebooted, and phone booted up!
I have just had a similar problem (stuck at the boot logo screen after choosing Recovery Mode when I long pressed the Power button) and could not access CWM Recovery (VolumeUp + Home + Power button until the boot logo appeared).
As the only easy alternative left I entered Download Mode (VolumeDown + Home + Power button until the boot logo appeared), connected the phone to my PC using the USB cable and used PC Odin to flash CWM Recovery again. Rebooted and everything worked fine.
I now have the new bootloader installed (didn't have to root the phone again), Omega 10 firmware with RedPill 1.01 Kernel.
Went from the stock ICS on my cousins phone and updated him to the stock JB through Kies, and now on boot it just gets stuck on the 4g screen.
Also, when I do power+volume+ button it says "E:failed to mount /efs (invalid argument)" and E:Can't mount /efs/log/boot_cause and Can't open /efs/log/boot_cause
Any ideas guys?

Grab the GB27 odin build from the repository. Flash that. You should be good to go.

Still no go for me after running rwilco12.com/Files/Devices/Samsung%20Galaxy%20S2%20%28Sprint%29%20%28SPH-D710%29/Stock%20ROMs/JB/GB27/No%20Data%20Restore/Rooted/SPH-D710_GB27_1014481_Rooted_Nodata.exe[/url]
I also tried tGA10_Agats Recovery.exe, wiped the dalvik cache, cache partition, and fixed permissions. Then I ran SPH-D710_GB27_1014481_Kernel.exe to get the stock kernel back.
adb devices
List of devices attached
try the restore, not the nodata
I've tried all of these methods and am having the same issues. I'm very close to just bricking it and calling it a wash. Is there anything at all I can do that will allow me to restore the missing info need for the phone to boot properly?
Could you flash FL24 (restore, NOT nodata) then get the OTA update? I didn't have any luck with flashing GB27.
As graydiggy mentioned try the One-click FULL RESTORE/RESET. Make sure you follow the directions from here. Also run the One-click 'as adminstrator' on your PC too.

Ok I had the same problem and found a solution! First to get off that bootloop go to rwilco.com and download fl22 and use odin to install it which is ICS, root your phone with the agat 0.6.8 then you go to the play store and download busybox free and gs2 repair. Run busybox do a smart install then open gs2 repair and on the second tab do the 1st and 2nd options only, restart your phone now you can upgrade to jellybean.
I rooted my phone using ODIN. And tried to backup efs by using an app called efs backup.
the phone randomly restarted and kept reeboting..I went into the recovery and it said e:unable to mount /efs
I did a factory reset
Installed stock rom using odin
NOthing seems to be working..
What can I do?

DO you have a custom Recovery installed? If so, there might be a conflict between the stock ROM and I backup. Try going to recovery, wipe cache and then wipe data(factory reset) and reboot. The first boot takes A lot of time, so as long as the boot animation doesn't loop but does indeed stay n the Samsung text, you are OK

NO i had the stock recovery..
When I reflashed the stock rom it stayed on the samsung logo.. how much time does it take?
The stock recover shows the error in red E:unable to mount /efs (invalid argument)
Maybe something went wrong on your backup. So it had some residue instructions it was doing on boot up. I had a similar problem when triangle away crashed while hacking. I did a 'adb reboot' command which I think cleared any nasty commabd and let it reboot normally.
Think of these as those please reboot to apply chances updates on winfows
