I wouldn't mind seeing a review of that zaggmate from an actual user. it looks slick.
They should be shipping it in the next few days, I'll definitely let you know what I think of it when I get it. I've read a few reviews and so far the general consensus has been a very positive one.
I just got it and it's amazing. The keyboard itself is easily the best one out there as far as all the keyboard cases are concerned, and the case itself really looks and feels perfectly complimentary to the iPad. It's aluminum and matches the finish of the iPad perfectly. The keyboard is a little cramped but if you have ever typed on a netbook before, then it will be nothing new. When the iPad is in the case it doesn't add much bulk at all, probably like 1/4" of thickness. I am definitely happy with my purchase and recommend it highly. It is the perfect accessory.

Awesome! now i just gotta save up the peso's and get one for myself.
I have seen the new accessories released from Motorola, but I think that the Portfolio Case just looks hideous. Has anyone seen a portfolio case similar to the official Apple iPad case (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Apple®+-+iPad+Case/1271742.p?id=1218246670763&skuId=1271742)?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: While doing my research on the portfolio case and reading your comments, I have been thoroughly convinced to wait on the case soon to be released by zoogue in March of 2011. There is a youtube video on it. It looks pretty good. It is made of leather and allows you to view at nearly any angle due to the use of velcro.

Your link doesn't work. I don't think the one for Xoom looks bad, just not crazy about the color.

The one that my friends have on their ipads don't tilt and have the viewing angles. That feature is a necessity to me

Ok, just purchased my Xoom and Moto Portfolio case. Have to say I'm disappointed with the case. Seems like Moto didnt fully think this one out. The build quality is very good and does what it says. Issues are:
1. You cannot charge the Xoom and have it in one of the viewing setups like monitor. In other words you cannot charge and work with a BT keyboard.
2. You cannot charge the device while the portfolio is closed. It has to be opened to access any of the ports
3. Folding the case back covers the on/off button.
4. Edges are hard plastic and seem like they'll leave wear marks on your Xoom after a while.
I got it too, and it's pretty lame. As mentioned above, you can't charge the device while it's propped up. That's the biggest WTF.
I see it as a very temporary solution. I want the tablet in some sort of protective gear, but as soon as something better comes along, I'm sending it to ebay.
you guys are being polite, the portfolio case blows.
the bottom corners have these nubs that jut out and are supposed to 'grip' the bottom, but they don't, and it generally just feels like they didn't actually have the full dimensions of the product before this was manufactured.
I even got out a xacto and cut these nubs off, hoping it would fit better, but it still pretty much sucks. Going to take it back, nubs gone or not. It's a shame because I want a fold back cover just in case I drop this, but this is NOT what I had in mind.
its kinda ok for me (for now) till hopefully otterbox comes out with a case for it. as atoy74 said, it sucks coz it has no opening or something for charging and syncing while closed.
The case really is a piece of crap. I'm constantly worried about the little nubs permanently scratching the Xoom's body and it doesn't close comfortably either. Getting the Xoom out of the case is a pain in the ass too because you're again worried about the body being scratched. It's also a lot heavier than I expected and adds a noticeable amount of weight. Also, not being able to charge while tilting is ridiculously stupid. I was looking forward to using this because of the nice tilting options, one of the few things Motorola got right with this case, but using it has me on the lookout for better alternatives.
i wish i read this before buying it. The case sucks squid ballzzzz
I really like the case. The charging issues you guys mentioned exist because this is a tablet, and is meant to be docked.
My issue is that when I close it.. I feel like I'm going to break a nail opening it. It should have a tab to open it up. Though the price is perhaps a little high for what it is.
never mind I love this case its perfect
This cases is indeed bad. They used way to much plastic. I'll be keeping my eye out for a nice third party case.

What the hell are you talking about? I have owned an Ipad, Galaxy Tab and now the Xoom. I've never had this problem before and I've always used portfolio style cases. Access to the unit's ports should always be accessible and I shouldnt have to buy a $50 dock to do that.

Protective Case Terrible design
Hello All , I have to agree on all point the case is not planed out right . What the HELL I can't charge and close the unit . The unit is awesome, but until someone finds a third party case protector what else can we do or does anyone have another idea or approach to protect their investment.
when you lay the xoom in the case flipped it directs the speaker sound towards you. Most flip cases make it hard to use the device with all of its accessories. The case gives excellent protection and makes watching movies awesome.

I'm not saying the case doesn't have its strong points. But, the negatives are huge. This morning I already noticed wear marks on my Xoom where the plastic tabs rub. COME ON, it's only been 24 hours. There's no justification for a $40 device to reduce the value of a $800 one.
I can't wait for third party cases to start arriving. I've had wonderful experiences with Encase, Scosche, Seidio and Macally. Hopefully they'll have something soon-ish.
I think the case the OP was talking about is the OEM ipad case. I do like it and wish there was one like for the xoom.

Not really meant to be docked otherwise it would come with a dock, dock is optional and like on the ipad they should have create a way to charge it in the case, returning mine today

The Xoom Slides into the top part of the case. I used a file to rub down the plastice that pokes out on the bottom half.

Just decided to hop in as I am working with some third party people to either 'get' or develop some accesories for the Xoom. I've been working with them for several months now on accessories for the gTab and it seems to have truned into a pretty solid relationship.
Im hoping to be able to get a few things for the Xoom owners. As SOON as I have get any word I'll keep you posted as well as list something in the 'marketplace' (have to be potically correct )
http://www.amazon.com/NTK-Wireless-...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1309051063&sr=8-1
Much cheaper than the other one.

This is the kind of case I'm looking for but I hate the shiney leather on the fron !!!!. Would prefer matt which is less gaudy. Would it be easy to import to UK and reupholster it i ask myself. Other alternatives are the? Vision one witch most don't like. A USB one Witch I don't expect to work on eBay ,although it is being advertised as zoom compatable i think that's purely
on the premises than its 10 inch. Or more sweet to go for a leather portfolio and separate KB b.t ?
Ahh decisions, decisions
ok so i went with this combo
SD Tabletwear - Motorola Xoom Executive Pro Multi-Function Case Luxury Wallet, Cover, Stand, Flip Case - Black
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004Y4H1ZA/ref=oss_product
and
Bluetooth Wireless Flexible Silicone Roll up Keyboard
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330549177285&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
will report back.. but chose the keyboard on recomendation here.
looking forward to that felixthecat
you got the case already and how is it working out?
had to reply to say I really like this case will do a review

Happy Xooming!
If I'm getting a skin, I'd want it because it's thin. The "gel" skin would just be annoying to me, especially because it would get in the way of fitting cases over it.
I've used skins from gelaskins (gelaskins.com) in the past and I was extremely satisfied. They also offer customized skins but have a lot of designs available from various artists. I'm probably going to be getting a skin type cover and I'll probably be ordering from gelaskins since I've had great experiences with them on my past devices.
Btw. You seem to like final fantasy. A lot.

Indeed I do like Final Fantasy as it is my favorite RPG series of all time, and it has been since the original. So as my favorite series in the whole world, I like to represent. Ya know what I mean? It's really no different than people who obsess over their favorite sports teams. Lol.
And I hear ya about wanting a thin device. The other 2 choices I listed for my examples are thin, adding zero bulk. The gels skins will add some bulk yes because of the gel, but the point of a skin decal is to look good while protecting the device all at the same time. The skins make your devices smudge proof, scratch proof, and nearly damage proof for the average consumer, especially for the gel skins because they are a little thicker and will hold up better.
If you do get a skin, please put it up here for us. Would love to see what kind of design you will cook up for your Xoom.

That skin is hilarious. Looks just like the late 80's trapper keepers I used to rest my head on while sleeping in class.

Hmm... I do not know of a UK version for this website, sorry man. But, I have an alternative if you would like. You can't make your own skins, but it has a decent selection of designs that you can choose from.

DecalGirl is pretty sweet. It's a very popular and well known site for skins, and it does ship to the UK. I have used it on occasion in the past.
Cheaper skin
I bought this one from ebay for $9.99.

Really like it, just wanted something to protect the back from scratches when my Xoom was out of it's case.
Super thin vinyl with a slight faux leather look, check the close up pic at the bottom of the ebay link.

I haven't put the front on yet, waiting for my screen protector to arrives 1st.
I will look like this picture, same material and pattern (with the screen area cut out). The seller has many designs, i like the dragon one because it's pretty understated.
These are just pics from the gelaskins website (better than anything I'd end up taking), but this is what I got for mine:
I usually have my leather portfolio case on, but it's nice to have a little protection if I ever have it out or if something might possibly scratch it while in the case.
I also got this for my atrix:
Edit: I was just browsing the gelaskins website and it would seem they changed their website set up. They have some art that they have pre-designed the layout for the devices and others allow you to use the artwork in their create your own process. When you select the device, they have some categories off to the side and it starts with the most popular... I just wanted to point out that they have more artwork because I'd hate for someone to miss a design they like more than what shows up in the most popular.

Hah! I like that for the Xoom you got there. Your Atrix is looking pretty sweet as well.
I just got my cases and keyboard in from Amazon two days ago and i wanted to share my thought on what i think are excellent products. I spent a lot of time looking for cases because initially i wanted a keyboard case, but none impressed me too much and all looked almost the same. Then i heard magnets in cases were causing issues and the Samsung book cover was the only one that seemed to have 0 issues. But it was too expensive my for liking so i went with the following set-up.
It won't let me post links, but it is all available on amazon.
Case: RooCase Origami Folio and Slimshell Cover
Want the Samsung Bookcover without buying the outrageous price? This is the way to go, and in my eyes is better. It has essentially the same design concept with more functionality. Great build quality. Offering a total of 4 holding positions for the screen. The cover has 3 landscape position to hold the screen up and one portrait. Very nice and soft to the touch. A sleek slim design which leads to being very light. The cut-outs are perfect and does support the auto-sleep/wake function. So it does has magnets but so far has had no effect on the digitizer. I was hoping it wouldn't since it was very similar to the book cover. Not the best protection but a unbeatable price for this product if this is what your looking for.
Sleeve:RooCase Neoprene Sleeve Case
I will be using my tablet for college everyday, so it will be moving around with me everyday. I needed some extra protection, especially for when it is in my backpack. This sleeve does the trick. It has two pockets, one for the tablet and one for any accessories. The tablet fit perfectly with my other case on it and still had enough room to slide my Bluetooth keyboard in. It is slim but protective. The Neoprene sleeve gives me the extra protection from the bumps, scratches, and movement it will endure. It is not very thick, so don't expect it to save you from heavy drops, but it will do its jobs within its limits. Once again a great buy for its price.
Keyboard: Shark Ultra-Slim Bluetooth 3.0Keyboard
This keyboard is top-notch. The build quality is amazing, featuring a aluminum body which looks very professional and clean. The keys are a great feels to them and don't feel cheap. I felt good feedback from them. The on/off and connect button is conveniently located on the top right. Has a lithium-ion battery and lasts quite awhile. They keyboard case with a nice little sleeve to keep the keyboard in which was nice. Fit perfectly with my tablet in the sleeve. I had no connectivity problems and connected in seconds. It does have a auto-sleep feature when inactive which helps save alto of battery if your like me and forget to turn it off. Pressing any key will wake it up and connect back almost immediately. It is a little more but its worth it in my opinion if your gonna be using a keyboard.
Hoped this helped you guys a little bit. I am open to any questions you guys might have and will reply back as i can. This was my first time using these two brands and and pretty pleased for the price.
