Issue is this:
To install the ROM, you will need the ClockWorkmod ROM Manager.
Start Android Market on your phone and search for ROM Manager. Install the Clockwork Mod ROM Manager. Note that your Defy must be rooted before you can install ROMs on it.

Being as I deleted google apps I can't use the market. So I managed to find a googleapps1.3 apk file on the net, reinstalled it but it just crashes and requires force close whenever it starts, have been told it is a permissions issue so I tried fixing permissions via ROM manager but I get this error:
"An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!"
Now ultimately I want 2.2 froyo anyway, but what is the best way to get the correct Clockwork Mod ROM Manager APK for a motorola defy? I've looked everywhere but cannot find it.
ROM manager has an option to download it, but it only gives options for Droid x, droid 2 and some other non defy phone.
So how do I get myself out of this pickle and install froyo 2.2 or at least get google apps 1.3 working again?
Really appreciate any help, thanks guys
had to make a new account as my password wont work and neither will password recovery
anyway I tried using the defy recovery but it says the update.zip file is invalid and doesn't pass the certificate test or some random thing
how am to get google apps working again? all I want is my stock rom working, or if I can get a 2.2 version that is exactly the same that'd be great.
Can anyone help me? I have the googleapps.apk file but it just crashes if I reinstall it.
If you just want to get back to stock...
1. Send it in for repair.
2. Find a relevant SBF file and flash via RSD Lite. What does Settings -> About phone tells you?
system version blur_version.2.51.1.mb25.retail.en.GB
JRDNEM_U3_2.5.1.1
where would I look to find the SBF file?
managed to find a stock rom and reflash it, all is good now
thanks guys
Hello!
I recently updated to 4.3 and rooted the device using Odin, however the default camera app is no longer responding - it gives me the following error message: "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped working".
Things I've done to try and fix it:
1- cleaned cache and data but that didn't solve the problem.
2- also reset the device to factory through settings but it didn't work either
3- re-install camera.apk (wouldn't install using Titanium)
4- install new stock camera from 4.3 rom (installed but got the same message)
5- manually replaced the files for the camera (system/app/SamsungCamera.apk and SamsungCamera.odex) AND Gallery (SecGallery2013.apk and SecGallery2013.apk) with new ones
Issue still persists...
Any ideas? Pls help.
Thanks!
if you're using xpose mod and wanam update to the latest wanam.

Thanks but it didn't work.
I got it solved today thou in an unexpected way by actually using the Back up feature within ROM Manager - the phone went into back up mode (like recovery mode where you see the little android robot and command lines), waited until the back up process was finished then rebooted without choosing the option to "fix possible root loss" warning. After that camera was finally back again.
Then I recalled that the last time I've done this back up through Rom Manager there was some sort of problem during the process which interrupted it so I realize now that somehow it affected the camera (have no idea how they relate thou) - but the fact is that as soon as it successfully finished the back up the issue was automatically fixed. Weird, stupid and very rare, I know... At least is fixed!

Not to thread jack, but do you have the apk for the stock camera app from 4.3? Thanks in advance
I've had exactly this same problem. Do I have to run a backup to fix it?
Hi guys, I really hope you can give me a hand here. I was rooted using method 3. Yesterday I unrooted the device. Today there were some OTA updates, so I downloaded them and wanted to install them. It was 58 if I'm not mistaken. The phone rebooted and started installing the updates and after few seconds a symbol of android popped up with an error message. After that the phone started and said that update wasn't installed and the origanal settings were returned. After that it said that there wen't new updates available. Factory reset didn't help either. Later a new update was available 59 I think, but the same thing happened... I really don't know what to do now.
I have ZF2 64Gb, WW version installed on it.
right now running 2.19.40.22
I'm really hoping for your help
Update: I've don't system wipe and cache wipe from the recovery menu
Update N2: I've managed to install V2.19.40.22 image from official website. But my phone doesn't show me an option to do an OTA update, it says that there aren't any update available. Is there a way to make him check again properly?

Do you mean as in making the file MOFD_SDUPDATE.zit puting it on the SD card and through recovery? The update starts, then says gives an error
In recovery it says:
Veryfying current system...
"/system/build.prop" has unexpected contents
E: Error in /sdcard/MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip
(status 7)
I might have edited my build.prop file back then when I was playing with DPI. Now I can't find the line I edited... please help

That's why you have to flash the pre root firmware first. It restores all the system files so they can pass the check while the OTA runs.

Does it work for 1.2.4.1?
My Nokia X runs on 1.2.4.1 version, will work for this?
I want only two things which I think are impossible without rooting;
1) To install Sygic navigator (HERE Maps doesn't work in my country)
2) Disable/Uninstall default store which keeps using RAM and battery resources and gives nothing in return
And one more question, will I lose my phone data if I run this app?
Bro its also works on 1.2.4 version perfectly
And dont worry you not lose any data of your phone while rooting do it without tension:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
Thanks for reply

@ smrshkh786
I just managed to fix Nokia X Manager error of not detecting device. Now my device is visible, but I'm confused what should I do, to install G-Apps or ROOT it?
Here's what you should consider:
1) I just want to install Google Maps and Sygic Navi, no other advance level things.
2) Need more apps movable to SD card
3) Right now it's always consuming 80% + RAM most of the times even when data turned off and clean up, will rooting help me take some control of resource usage?
& last but not least
3) I am NOT smartphone advance user but do know something about it.
So please tell me which would be better for me?
bro if nokia x manager detects your phone then first flash twrp or cwm recovery then flash supersu.zip
If you want one click root
Use kingroot
So I have the xt1710-01 variant of the z2 play and I just got root with magisk. I went on Snapchat and tried to respond to my friend, and it says that my camera wasn't working. I went to the camera app built into the stock firmware and it says to restart my camera. I then got an app that restarts it with root privelages and I still get the same error.
I found somewhat of a fix, but I have to uninstall magisk and reboot without root, then I can use the camera. Then flash it with TWRP again later.
Can someone please help me find a fix? I'm on the stock firmware up to date as of 10/5/17and with the latest magisk update.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
