I unplugged my phone from the charger early this morning and went back to sleep for a couple hours. Woke up and my battery drained 12 percent with no use at all. Check the stats and see phone was 'held awake' for almost the whole time and seems to explain the drop. Does anyone know what is going on here? Providing a picture below. Thanks in advance.

Some app keeps phone awake. When not in power saving mode my note never goes into deep sleep. I have manually shoot down few services (after reboot) running in background or my note using 5-7% battery power per hour vs 2.5% when in deep sleep mode.

Is there a way to figure out which app is keeping the phone awake? I go into the running apps section of App Manager and kill off any services I do not need. It seems this problem is spotty. Sometimes it does it and other times, I can go a few days with no charge with average use. But a 6% drop per hour with absolutely no use is killer.
Better battery stats will help you to find offensive apps. I always shoot down, tmobile acc, gba service, fb messenger, media scanner, samsung media hub, push service. Some other apps are "frozen" with greenify. I noticed that after I use my phone with chromecast it will stay awake even with wifi off. I have a habit to reboot phone every morning and stop those services to have a have good battery live for a day.

Cool. I also disable those. What is a good app to get better detailed stats? If I clicked app usage in that link, it does bring up what apps are being used.

I'm running AOKP 20 and Franco kernel but seem to be getting really bad battery life. I see folks claiming 1% battery loss over 8-9 hours of sleep. Mine loses 12-15% while I sleep and that is with WIFI on.
I'm not real familiar with the Better Battery Stats or Battery Monitor Widget. Can I use one of those to find out what is killing my battery life?
Does anyone know of something that might be causing this or how I can find out what it is?
Rogue app? Wich Franco are you using?

I tried 14.4 but went back to 13.1 hoping things would improve. Same on both.
Better Battery Stats' ugly interface really does mask what I feel is a great app. In your case, assuming you have it installed, change the top box in the app to Kernel Wakelocks and Partial Wakelocks and see what is preventing your phone from sleeping (post the screenshots of the two pages if they mean nothing to you).
I've also found CPU Spy to be an easier to understand quick overview of what's going on with my device. It'll list out the various clock speeds my kernel has and how much time was spent in each. If you notice "deep sleep" isn't the biggest bar, you likely have something going on.

Yup, yup. I was going to suggest CPUSpy, it's a decent little app. My phone will spend ~60-70% of the time in deep sleep over a nine hour or so period with WiFi on.
It looks like my phone is going into deep sleep and then something is waking it up and it can't go back. These processes don't mean much to me...

The audio out wake lock is caused by keyboard sounds, touch sounds and screen lock/unlock sounds. Turn those off.
The other wakelock seems to be your gallery syncing constantly.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Touch sounds were on, I turned those off. Why would those be waking my phone up in the middle of the night though?
How do I keep my gallery from syncing constantly? The only setting I see in the gallery options is to turn off my google account sync which I assume would turn off my gmail and other things as well?
Never mind, I found where to turn off photo sync.
Is it normal for touch sounds and gallery updates to keep your phone awake all the time? If so, what is the point of having them if they are going to eat your battery...
what franco are you using?

Here is a screen of my overnight usage. I don't know why but I've just noticed the clock has gotten stuck. Stupid thing.
*Edit* I have a few things syncing over night, and the LED was literally flashing for the entire time, I didn't check my e-mails on purpose to see what nine and a half hours battery drain would do when that bright little LED was flashing all night, not bad I reckon!

Facebook has been long known to be a poorly coded app (even the newest version) I've stuck to using the browser only because it's so buggy. I'd chalk it up to that...
Turn location off inside settings of app.

The lastest build of their app is by far the worst I have used personally. Someone posted an older build which does not have as many features, but it is way less buggy.
LMK if you want a link.

same issue!
im seeing the same problem on my phone now, simply annoying. its my #1 battery drain even without using the phone or app.
app can be completely off, not on process list, gps turned off, location turned off in app, still goes up! might start using the mobile site instead of app.... until this can be fixed

That's exactly what was happening with my phone. I've been using the app that dschreiber69 provided earlier in this thread, but because Facebook eats so much battery on this phone I haven't been using it much anymore. Furthermore, I haven't been using Facebook much on either my phone or a computer. I'm getting sick of it, same crap every day. Nothing new. Blah.
Hey guys, very new to the note 2 here and after I charge to full I only get a few items showing up when I go to
Check battery usage. Gsam shows everything fine but I'm wondering if anyone has any insight on this. It has happened on both Clean Rom and SkyNote. The last time it only showed screen and idle. I wiped and reflashed but it still happens.

It wipes it all when it's fully charged. Try running it down to like 60 or so and see if any other apps show up. My guess is that they are just taking up less that 1% battery over the 3 minutes

Alright I'll let it run down, but it's weird cuz android OS and System are never below 1%, they're usually always there. On Gsam they are showing up. Xda app is there too at 13%

Alright so I found a few threads with the same issue of different roms/phones unfortunately no posted resolution.
Tried wiping caches fixing permissions, uninstalling apps, reflashing the kernel. Nothing had worked until I reset Perseus kernel to default settings and rebooted. Soon as the phone came back I was able to see 8 or so processes and apps were now there like usual.
My settings are back to how I had it before all this started so we will see if it happens again

@ speghead, Yikes, I just lost all items in my battery usage screen except the main graph and hope I don't have to bomb my phone back as far as you did. Will try full drain and full charge first. What other threads did you find for this issue?
Edit:
D'oh! The per-application battery stats came back at the next full charge. On thing that can throw this off is that some battery meters report 100% at a point when the android system does not yet consider it full and if you stop charging at that point the stats may not refresh.
I'm losing 10% at night. Data is the only thing which is on.

Try disabling fast dormancy, it can cause battery drain. You can see it being marked as "secril_fd-interface".
Fast dormancy itself is a good thing, but your provider has to support it. Even if your provider supports fast dormancy you will still see secril_fd-interface wakelocks, however they should not be causing your phone to wakelock for hours.
There is an app to toggle fast dormancy by gokhanmoral, you can get it here.
Oh, and disabling data overnight does miracles, you'll lose 2-3% in total, then when you wake up, just re-enable data connection.
Sorry am I missing something? You had 43% left after almost 23 hours of usage. I'd say that's excellent battery!
yes, but something waking up my phone during the night, I would like to know what. I don't understand betterbatterystats so well
It's the media scan and the baseband

ok, so how can I make it stop waking up my phone?
Try rescan media root. And flash latest rom. It should be dll7 +
Also try changing network mode to get the best signals.

I dun see evidence that media is keeping the phone awake. It doesn't even appear anywhere. I see Google maps. If you are are signed on to latitude, then logout of it. It is well known for sucking your juice. Also see some wakelock related to audio_out. According to some it happens when you reboot your phone in silent or vibrate mode.*
IThe multipdp / svnet-dormancy wakelock
This wakelock indicates a high network usage. If this wakelock is #1 go to theNetwork Stats*to find out more.
Hope that helps.
I'm on dll7 rom and I'm not singed to anything. If I use IGO program, is it safe to delete maps, navigation and local from system app using root explorer?
edit: removed those app, phone seems to be ok.
also installed app named "auto 3g" it shuts down data every time screen is off.
any other ideas how to save battery?
Tried BetterBatteryStats
Have you tried installing BetterBatteryStats and checking out the Partial Wakelocks section to see which process is waking your device most often?
My culprit was Location services after the update to 4.1.2...
edit:
O I'm sorry I guess you did... Couldn't see the screenshots first time...

Seems to me as though AudioOut_2 is maybe a cause. There is already a thread about that with some tips that might help you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014970
What kernel are you on? Stock?
If rooted try installing neak 1.6
if no root, i would suggest disabling some os applications. for me there is nothing wrong with your batterystats except 26 percent of os (or system i cannot recall now ) usage..
I have root. I'm on omega 10 and red pill kernel.
So I feel like since I rooted my phone and installed nova my batter drains more...and I'm really new to all this stuff and I don't understand what any of this means:

That's not normal. Whatever wakelock is keeping it awake is not captured in your WLD screenshot. Track it down in better battery stats instead, using "partial wakelocks"
Thank you...that's what I thought... I don't know what happened...so I went into partial wakelocks and everything looks like low %... But kernel wakelocks there was a lot of high percentages...
First thing that sticks out is drop box. It shouldnt be running for that long. Did you turn on auto backup? This will cause huge drains. If turned on turn it off. Also check in service running for 21 minutes... Turn off your gps. This is Google now constantly running and locating you to try and provide you with what it thinks is useful cards (weather, traffic, food in your area) I only then on my gps when I'm gonna use navigation. Otherwise all apps with gps access will start to run and kill your battery. Also I suggest greenify. It'll help a lot with things like Facebook, Twitter, Google search, ect. Wakelocks. Also removing or freezing bloatware helps tremendously with battery drain. And last carrier iq. Something that always runs in the background. Google search it or read up in the battery threads here on XDA. They talk about it a lot and how to try and stop it. Also this thread
