I found a possible bug today using Chromecast. My phone is a Nexus 5 stock ROM, not rooted. I was casting a youtube video to my TV and the controls to pause, next/previous pop up on my Moto 360. Love that feature. However, if the Nexus 5 screen goes dark, the controls stop working. If the Nexus 5 is active, then the Moto controls work.
Has anyone noticed this and/or found a solution?
Just tested with my rooted Moto X, yes same fail on YouTube, BUT works on Play Movies with screen off, so think the bug is in YouTube?

Further testing: if paused in play movies and phone off, then watch times off, watch loses the play pause control entirely, have to restart from phone. So a few bugs here.
Good to know it is not just me. I hope they iron these bugs out in the next OS update.
Still not working (December 2014)
Has anyone figured out a fix? It was working great then stopped a few days ago. I've rebooted, reinstalled, etc. but still cannot get my 360 to control my chromecast. Volume works but controls ringer, not Chromecast volume (enen when in Chromecast app).

i'm in chicago. rcn is my isp. i have their internet-only 50 mbps service.
i've been binge watching orange is the new black thru the netflix app on my firetv. it's been lagging quite a bit. the video freezes but audio continues unlagged. then the video jumps to catch the audio. rinse and repeat every few minutes.
i went to my pc and fired up chrome. went to netflix' site. started watching orange is the new black. no lagging whatsoever.
any ideas what might be causing the lag on the firetv?
thanks in advance.
I tried to watch Braveheart the other day on Netflix.
The sound was a bit distorted, especially with the music making it intolerable.
I tried side loading the play store version.
The sound quality was better but remote control did not work the same.
Maybe give a try. It might be the app.

I also found Braveheart on the web and played with XBMC. That was also better than the Netflix AFTV app.

I am sorry i did not read the last part of the post. Disregard my reply
Playing music from my online Google Play account. Streaming over Att and wifi get same results:
Song will start playing and then it will jump to the next song after 2-3 minutes. Usually happens when I start playing an album but today it did it on the 2nd track.
I'm set at normal stream quality and cache during playback. I think I've also experienced this issue with cache unchecked.
Didn't have this problem with last phone (first gen Moto x) and gf doesn't have the issue with her ATT S5.
Any similar experiences?

No. No problems here. I've been using google play music subscription since it launched. Have you tried clearing cache, uninstalling and reinstalling?
i have this same issue but it only happens sporadically. I think its a bug.
Have had this problem VERY few times, just clear the google play music cache and you should be g2g.
i've had the same issue. i notice it when i pick a playlist or radio station; first song gets cut short and it skips to the next one.
i'll try clearing the cache and see if it still happens. have only noticed the problem on wifi so far
Mine does that also very annoying sometimes it skips 2 or 3 songs

Sometimes I have to keep hitting the play button till it works, then it will work for a while and skip the song ?
Hello,
I have a Motorola Moto G3 ('Osprey') and have installed Lineage OS on it (currently on 14.1-20170413-NIGHTLY-osprey). The new OS is great but I cast to a couple of Chromecast Audio devices fairly often and have noticed the following changes since installing Lineage;
- Previously it was possible to adjust the volume of the music playing from Google Play Music to a Chromecast Audio with the screen turned off by rocking the volume rocker on the 'phone. Now the screen has to be on (i.e. it's necessary to press the on/off button before the volume rocker.)
- Previously it was possible to 'take over' a Chromecast Audio session from another Android device; by opening up Google Play Music and casting to the devices that are running the playlist and the song that is playing would appear. Now this is not possible.
The 'phone was running the standard Android Lollipop before I installed Lineage. Is it possible to regain the functionality that I had before? I don't know whether it's relevant but I installed open_gapps-arm-7.1-stock-20170326 and the 'phone is rooted.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Bit more detail on item 2 above; if there is music playing from another 'phone on a Chromecast Audio then it possible to see what is happening from my 'phone, you can pause the music and mute it but can't do anything else. Previously it was possible to take over the session and control it in the same way as if you had initiated it.
I have a Dension GW52MO1 500S BT (adds BT media streaming to older german cars) that has play control problems just with Google Play Music. If I listen to YouTube or BeyondPod, Neutron etc it works correctly. What happens with Google Play Music is the first couple of seconds repeat over and over again. Also if I stop the music it immediately starts playing again (repeating first couple of seconds of track). I can get it to work by turning off Bluetooth between one and 4 times, each time waiting for it start playing by itself.
This behavior does not occur in our other car that has the Pioneer DEH80PRS.
This problem is a bug in Google Play Music, there is a Google Product Forum post on it
https://productforums.google.com/forum/?noredirect=true#!topic/play/FKxS7t1W1dA
My question is: Is there any tool I can install on the Pixel 2 XL to help me work around this issue? I tried using Tasker to automate turning Bluetooth on and off but it when I do that the repeat 1st second problem doesn't resolve itself like it does when I do it manually.
The Dension does not appear to have a way to turn off the autoplay (resume) feature which I think interacts with the bug in Google Play Music to cause the issue.
Thanks
I just got a new deck that is Wireless Android Auto compatible, but the album art from Google Play Music does not show up when using it wirelessly. If I plug the phone into the USB port and use Android Auto that way; the album art show up just fine. Anyone else run into this issue and know how to fix it?

I can't get the wireless android auto to even work on mine. How'd you get it too??
I paired it with Bluetooth first, then selected the phone from the main app screen.
It took two tries, but I got it working following Pioneers video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoPE7eF84-0
I think I got it working, was using a crappy cable so it wasn't properly connecting

Now that mine is working I checked and I'm getting the album artwork to show for all apps
What phone do you have?
Pixel 2XL
To anyone that cares, I found the "fix" to this problem. Turns out it is caused by a setting Google Play Music... in Settings > Show Album Art on Lock Screen.
I never liked having the album art on my lock screen, but I like having it show up in Android Auto. So I guess you just have to choose which setting you want more.
- funny side note: The album art DOES NOT show up on the lock screen when music is playing and using Wireless Android Auto. Even when the option is checked in Google Play Music
