How to set display "on" time? - Moto 360

Is it possible to set the display to stay on for a certain amount of time? More specifically, at least 15 seconds.
I need to regularly look at my watch while checking pulse, but tinkering with the 360, display only stays on for a few seconds.
And no, the ambient display wouldn't work because it gets rid of the seconds hand when the screen dims.
Thanks!

If checking your own pulse, just use the heart rate app...
If checking others pulse, and you don't have a machine to do it, maybe try using the stopwatch app (but that is extra steps I know)
If all else fails there are some faces that have a seconds hand when dimmed, just try different watchfaces.

All the preset faces aren't showing me seconds when the screen is dim. Which ones are you talking about?

Customize led notification?

I want to be able to change how fast the led blinks bc every time I look at it I have to stare at it for at least 30+ seconds to see if I have a message. Thx

If you're rooted you can use the app called light flow. It allows you to change the color of each notification light and the frequency it blinks at

Light Flow
You can use the Light Flow app to manage your notifications. You can alter the light speed (slow to always on), and light color, along with vibrations.
It's nice to be able to know whether or not you got an e-mail or a text, with only the vibrations in your pocket.
Check the market, comes in a "Lite" (free) version and a $1.99 full version (more apps supported).
Root is not required. I've been using it on my nexus since the day I got it.
Careful with Light Flow, When I installed it and set it up, whenever my phone went to sleep mode the program wouldn't allow my phone to wake up again. I summarily uninstalled it and got a refund.

An update from the developer takes care of this issue. The app works as advertised, quite well too.

I also recommend Light Flow, it has worked flawlessly for me. I really like how it allows you to choose whether you want the LED to rotate through all your notifications, show the most recent, or show the highest priority.
You don't even need to be rooted to use light flow!
is it possible to add WhatsApp to lightflow?
(I see its supported in "additional apps supported by light flow", but the device only detects Google Talk in social apps)
Yes, default colour green.

Go with Lightflow. Another nice feature for us crackflashers is, Lightflow will let backup your settings/preferences so once you set up a new rom and install the app it takes 2 seconds to restore your settings.

Recently whenever I enable lightflow in accessibility my phone gets all ****ed up and I can only do something if I use 2 fingers

What ever happened to the backlight?

I've been a phone enthusiast for a long time. I noticed something strange with my Galaxy Nexus that I forgot about. I seen an iPhone do this and Windows Mobile does it too... but not android.
The screen backlight idle time vs turn off.
When the screens on, why not kill the backlight (or ultra dim for amoleds) after 15 seconds and then turn off the screen after like 30 seconds or something.
Usually in Windows Mobile, these were adjustable to your liking.
Why don't androids do this? The screen just cuts out and there is only 1 timer. To save battery I use 15s but once it turns off you have to unlock the damn phone again. This makes reading long paragraphs and emails frustrating.
Why not also have the lock screen NOT lock when the screen idles off... but rather a timer like 2min... UNLESS you manually hit the power button.
I never really noticed this until I got my N7 with a case that makes the power button awkward to reach. I have its screen idle off timer set to 2min.
I think it would be great to implement this into Android. Hope everyone follows what I'm trying to describe. And if your planning on posting anything along the lines of "well get an iTurd or Windoze" then just exit and go elsewhere. This is a serious discussion of the possibilities.

My phone dims quite a bit before it shuts off the screen.
I don't know about the other things, but there is in fact the ability to have the screen not lock immediately after it turns off. Set the timer in the Security menu.
If you use any other screen lock but "slide" you can adjust the time it'll take to really "lock" the phone. There is an option in the security settings.

Welcome to not hitting f5 every second, douche...
If I had seen your post I may not have bothered answering. Not sure why you'd feel the need to comment on someone saying the same as you, particularly since my post includes one very important additional information. This option is NOT available when you use the standard "slide to unlock" setting.

awesome.
To be fair, OP wants the screen to lock if manually shut off, and to automatically lock after a certain period of time if the screen is automatically shut off as per the timer.
So technically no one's right!

True... but also to dim before turning off.
My screen just shuts off after 15seconds. Same on my N7 after 2 minutes. Why isn't there a period when the backlight/screen dims before turning off.
For example:
After 10s - Dims to lowest brightness.
After 30s - Screen turns off.
After 1min - Phone locks.
P.S. I just disable my lock screen. Its refreshing to not have to swipe it all the time. Unless you have a security pin or FaceUnlock, a typical swipe is pretty pointless. With the power button on the side, I doubt well be unlocking it accidentally. The chances of turning on the phone, somehow hitting phone, and somehow navigating and selecting a contact is so slim.

I have my setting at 30 seconds.
After 20 seconds the screen dims and at 30 it turns off.
Its always had this behavior. On every android phone I've had.

+1 My screen dims before shutting off as well. If I'm reading or something and I see the screen dim, I know to give it a tap so it doesn't turn off. Ever since I had my Samsung Moment...

I already mentioned that mine did this, but I have always wanted to do a +1 so...
+1
Yep mine too while reading. As stated above when I see the screen dim I have to tap it from sleeping.
Also, with most custom ROMs (not sure about stock) in screen security or lock screen settings you can generally set 1) how long until the screen turns off 2) how long the phone will stay unlocked after the screen has gone off and 3) whether or not pressing the power button immediately locks the phone or not.

Hmmm. Well I guess since I have mine set to 15s it just shuts off. My N7 runs EOS nightlies and it doesn't dim either with a 2min setting.
It would be nice to have a dimmer timer though to control the dim/sleep differences.
What rom is that because I'm on the latest Liquid and there aren't any options like that in the security settings.
[NM]
They are there just not for slide or none. Kinda weird.
30s does dim after 20s but barely. Seems the iPhone does this sooner, like 10s and dims much much more. I'm just thinking that with a big power hungry display, it would be beneficial to tweak these timers to minimize wasteful unused screen-on time.

The ROM in those screenshots is Dark Paranoid Android. Sorry, should have mentioned that.

If you go to the Display settings, then Automatic backlight, you can check "use custom" which then allows you to set the screen dim level. Its default is 20, but you can set it to 1 if you really want to see it dim.

Maybe its app specific? My N7 dims too, but NOT if Google Books is open and active.

Alarm won't go off

I set my alarm and for some reason, this happened twice so far, it won't turn off. its giving me on the screen what looks like 2 mouse on sitting on a moon fishing at the bigger quarter moon and when I slide it down to turn it off it jumps to the camera.
So I have to shut down my phone and reboot it in order for the alarm stop going off.
Guess that's one way to make sure you won't hit snooze.

Minimum Brightness

Are there any apps or hack to further reduce the minimum brightness? I have it set to 1 but I know it goes dimmer. Just before the screen timeouts it goes into some kind of ultra minimum brightness. I work at night and drive at night and I don't need the bright screen coming on during every left turn. I can now put it into theatre mode, which I do, but then I lose vibrations for notifications too.
You can with mini launcher if you swipe twice there is a brightness slider. Problem is there is a massive jump in brightness, its too low for me.

Display "sunlight" mode?

So I was using my S6 today and noticed the screen was toggling between full bright (auto dim off) and a much brighter mode when in direct shot of the sun. Surprisingly, I could still read it! It looked great.
What is this called and is there a way to control it being on or off all the time? I'd like it on driving.
I don't think u can control that

The first time that happened with my Note 4 I thought I broke it. But it's automatic. No setting for it.
Is there an app that I can automate to essentially override the light sensor data? That'd be a dirty way of controlling this.
