I flashed a RUU for wildfire s, everything seems to be fine.
But after it finished and told me your phone will now restart............---------> only the screen turns on and off, on and off.
Nothing else. I cannot go into bootloader or start the phone, no htc logo... nothing =(
I pulled the battery and tried to restart the phone, restarting into bootloader, connecting to fastboot, flashing ruu again, but nothing worked.
No connection to pc at all and no signal on the phone. Only: background light turns on and off, turns on and off.
What can i do ?
Please help me.
I am happy for any replies.
I will pay 20 Euros, if someones solution works.

Thanks a lot, but i have already known this thread.
The guy, B3NJY, with same problem, could not solve it. At least he sent his phone to repair service.
Maybe someone else knows how to unbrick a softbricked wildfire s.?
I flashed a lot and know how to use fastboot etc., ....
Like i said, backlight is working but nothing else.

I think you flash wrong RUU. Before flash RUU 100% confirm about it. Otherwise you will lost your device. Anyway let's begin...
[WARNING: PLEASE DON'T TRY THIS WITHOUT HAVING GOOD ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE !! BE SURE TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT RUU OR THIS MAY HARM/BRICK YOUR DEVICE !! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING !!]
Before you start, you will need to set up your computer to properly recognize the device. You probably did this when rooting originally, but just in case... Install SDK tools for Android, Java runtime, and HTC Sync (only for USB drivers). Make sure that HTC Sync is not running in the background when this process is ongoing. To kill that you can use "Task Manager in Windows"
:cyclops: Do step by step: :cyclops:
1. Download the correct RUU for your device from Here and please 100% confirm you are downloading right RUU for your device. Make sure you download a Marvel_C RUU for a CDMA device (no sim card) or a Marvel RUU for a GSM device (uses a sim card)!! Also make sure you get the correct RUU for your carrier.
2. Charge the battery above 80%. If the battery dies during the flashing process, you could hard brick the phone!
3. Run the RUU until the wizard comes up (step 1). While the RUU wizard is open, don't do anything. Just find the temporary folder it created. (Open Explorer in Windows and type %temp% in the navigation bar.) There will be two folders with long encrypted names. In one of them you will find ROM.zip. Copy that and keep it on another location. Close the RUU wizard.
Now, open ROM.zip with 7zip and extract "System, Boot and recovery img's" [.img file/s]. Put it in the location were you've installed Android SDK tools.
4. Boot the phone into bootloader (power off, hold down volume and press power) and highlight FASTBOOT using the volume rocker and pressing power. Then connect the USB cable. You should see FASTBOOT USB.
5. Open a command prompt in Windows and navigate to the folder where you installed Android SDK tools.
Flash the stock recovery, boot, system img's using the following command/s:
step by step
For recovery
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
For boot
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
For system
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
Now go back to device recovery and DO FACTORY RESET and reboot your device.
If everything done perfectly then the phone will booted normally on STOCK ROM! Remember Now bootloader is UNLOCKED but NOT rooted. Don't worry, you can root your device and also install CWM as before.
Hope this method will solve your issue.
Thank you very much testmasterbd =) , for this excellent description.
But..... i can`t start my phone into the bootloader. The phone turns on (only seeing the backlight) and suddenly it turns off (again the backlight). It does this ever and ever again until i pull out the battery . =(
how can i get into the bootloader? volume down and power doesn`t work anymore.
Maybe i can connect the phone to the pc, not via usb but via other contacts. Or is there another way to get the phone into fastboot mode?
Try this
Remove and reinsert the battery [don't press the power button of your device, that's means device should be turned off]
Plug it into a computer via USB cable
Wait and see if the computer detects it
If it does, then - Open a command prompt in Windows and navigate to the folder where you installed Android SDK tools.
Code:
adb devices
See if it shows up or not.
I am not sure about your device get hard brick.

Did your device vibrate when you pressed the power button for normal boot?

You are very friendly.
But i cannot power off the phone. It turns only off if i remove battery =)
When i plug in the usb cable while the phone is off, after some seconds, it turns on - shows its backgound light - and turns off and again on, like a turn signal. no vibration at all.
When i type in windows command adb devices it shows:
C:\android>adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
but no device is listed =(
so it should be hard bricked!?
Damn it.
thanks a lot for your help and wasted time.

Hi all,
Hope someone can help, I have a desire HD that has some issues.
Long story short the phone was acting up and was flashed with a non official ROM. It was working originally but after about a week it started acting up, with apps force closing, phone crashing altogether etc.
I am trying to get the phone back to a state that Vodafone in Australia will be able to warranty the phone in.
The current situation is that when the phone turns on, it'll load straight to the bootloader/hboot. Recovery mode does not work - it dumps you in to fastboot menu and fails to load.
System restore from boot menu does not work either, and there is no rom at all so USB debugging is a no go, and there appears to be no way to flash the ROM.
Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Use adb / fastboot to push a new recovery to the phone (I hope you left USB debugging enabled).

Sadly no USB debugging doesn't seem to work. Makes the sound that it connects to the computer and that bootloader states its connected by usb however it doesn't seem to phone is connected. Any other ideas?

adb get-state

Code:

But this does depend on you having previously ticked USB Debugging option before you had all these problems (no way to check now without being able to boot the phone).
If this fails you may have to try the previous suggestion of putting a PD98IMG on your sdcard then going into fastboot on the phone.

Currently there is no Rom on the Phone. Just put PD98IMG.zip on the SD card which seems to be updating. Does it normally take a while to Update all the Sections?
Can take anything from 5 to 20+ minutes.
Seems to be taking ages to even get past [1]. Is that normal? Hasn't done anything. It says "Updating" yet I'm still yet to see it get past "[1] BOOTLOADER"
Just to confirm...
1. Turn phone off
2. Put PD98IMG file onto ROOT of sd card
3. Use vol- and power button to get to Fastboot
4. Scroll and select Bootloader (HBOOT)
(might automatically do last step when you boot phone)
Phone will show a message to say it is looking for the file then unpack it and install.

Confirmed dude. Doesn't seem to be doing much though. It has been stuck on "updating BOOTLOADER". It has trying to update it for more then 30mins now
It has a big list of 12 things it wants to update however it hasn't moved past the first file "BOOTLOADER" in over 30mins.
Did you confirm the MD5HASH of the file before putting it on the card?
Could you put a link to where you got the file from please?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
Thank you.
Are you still connected to the PC? If so disconnect and try again.
Did you confirm the MD5HASH?
Have you got another SD card you can try? If not, reformat the current one and put the PD98IMG file on it again and try again.
The Device fails to even turn on now dude. Thanks anyway man
!!!???!!!
Damn. Do you just get the orange flashing light when you try to turn the phone on?
Take out SD Card and try.
If nothing works the bright side is you can send it to HTC and say "I woke up, turned it on and it's dead". Chances are they'll never be able to tell how it happened.
Many people did this when the Clockwork recovery bug bricked loads of phones.
Sorry but stay positive. Always a sliver lining.
Thank you
thanks for your great guidance to get back to recovery. I followed your tips and made it.
thanks a lot once again.

Could be the volume buttons acting up. You could try this:
- Turn the phone on to whatever state it boots up to
- Follow this guide until you have done point 7.

Try to download an RUU and that should probably fix it. All you do is plug your phone into the computer and the compuer does the rest. Search around for an RUU, there will be a guide in the thread.
I can't.
My PC see pheone when phone is plugged in OFF mode.
When I turn phone ON, PC can't find drivers for Qualcomm CDMA...
And when I turn phone ON MY PC doesn't see nothing
Automatically when I start RUU upgrade procedure, program tell me that He can't find device :/
is it possible that you used ROM Manager to partition your SD Card?
I'm asking because CWM/ROM Manager sometimes causes bricks on some devices.
I don't think so.
I only install new ARDH 5.1.17 ROM using EXT4 script.
That's all.
And +/- 2/3 weeks later my phone is dead...
Propably i send DHD tomorrow to the service. It is passible that service know about ARDH, root etc.?
I had just flashed the BlackICE ROM and started to like that, except from that it sometimes froze. So I read the BlackICE forum and saw that there were a few others with the same problem, and they got tipsed about undervolting with the built-in undervolting menu. So I did so too, and it worked about 1 hour. Then it froze again and won't come pass the bootanimation.
Normally i would press power and vol down button, but my vol down button has it own life, and won't function when I want to. So i can't get into the bootloader and reflash or wipe data.
Any helpful tip? Any other key kombination, or maybe i can access it from my computer when plugged inn with USB?
Thanks!
Sorry to hear about your problem.
Try this,
Download this simple adb package --> HERE & extract
Remove & reinsert your battery
Plug into your PC and wait for the orange charging LED to light up
Using cmd navigate to the folder you unzipped adb to
e.g
Code:
cd C:\adb
Now try this command
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Hopefully that should restart your device into bootloader, from there you can select recovery.
Thank you very much for your answer, but I don't see any link? It seemed like you wanted to post a link?
EDIT: Is it this package maybe? 34MB?
Link: http://dottech.org/tipsntricks/2153...ows-computer-for-use-with-your-android-phone/
Ahh yes, I forgot the adb package.
I've added it to the original post. It's only 200~KB.
It worked! But are there any adb command to enter recovery from bootloader? Since my volume buttons don't wanna cooperate I am not able to get down to "Recovery" atm. I tried volume up, and it worked for one selection, so now it stands on the bottom.
Thanks again btw
I thought it would, you can try,
Code:
adb reboot recovery
You may need to pull your battery & start again.
I tried that and then I just got a long list of commands that I could try out. I then found
Code:
adb reboot [bootloader:recovery]
That did not work either, so I just tried rebooting into bootloader again, and now the volume up button would work long enough to select recovery! So now I have reflashed and things seem to be working again
So thank you again, for saving my phone
possibly bricked??
I have tried the steps above and am getting "Error: Device not found" I am assuming this means that the usb debugging has somehow been switched off?
Complete newbie please excuse me (I have got my phone stuck at the htc screen and volume down button seems to have died on me)!
Hi, :cyclops:
I received a second-hand HTC Desire from a family member as my Samsung Galaxy S3 got stolen. The phone won't turn on, I don't know if it had previous problems but if someone could give me a list of things to try, and explain how to perform these things, that'd be great.
Here's some details about the problems and what I've tried:
I have plugged in the phone to a wall charger without a SD card or simcard in the phone. The LED light turns solid orange and stays on, the buttons on the phone light up and remain that way. The screen stays black and the phone makes no sound.
Sometimes if I hold down the power button, it vibrates once and nothing happens.
If I plug it into the pc, the pc registers the phone but nothing else happens.
I have tried battery pulls.
I have also held down the volume down button and power button together, I just get a continuous vibration for about 10 seconds and then nothing
I have tried holding down the power button for an extended period of time, but nothing.
Anything else I could try? Or maybe perform the tasks I have tried differently...
Any help would be appreciated I'm not fond of the alternative phone I would have to use.
Thank you
try pull the battery out for 10 seconds n put back in then press n hold back button then press n hold power button (both same time) see what happens, hopefully it will boot into fastboot. ur vol down button could be dodgy thats why wont boot into bootloader. The led comes on when plugged in and vibrates so thats a good sign. Why it only shows black screen? i dunno. Maybe u just need to flash a ruu. try the back button combo first

Looks to me, like the phone is booting, but the screen isnt displaying anything. Pull the battery, then follow what jmcclue said to get into fastboot. Then setup adb, install this driver, plug the phone into your computer, and run "fastboot devices". See if your phone shows up.

Yes. Adb/fastboot are executables which allow your pc to communicate with your device. You need to do this:
-setup adb
-install the driver that i linked
-follow the steps in jmcclue's post above to get your phone into fastboot mode
-plug the phone into the pc
-on the pc open up a command prompt window, and enter "fastboot devices"

Yea let a charge for at least an hour. Then run the RUU. I cant guarantee that itll work, but if this doesnt work, I would think that there is some sort of disconnection with a screen cable. In that case, i would suggest dissembling the phone and making sure that all screen cables are connected properly. But hopefully the RUU will do the trick

Make sure HTC sync isnt running in the background when you run the ruu (open task manager and kill any htc stuff before starting the ruu).
Check once more to see if "fastboot devices" recognizes the phone. If it does try the ruu. The ruu will tell you if it cant detect the phone. If that is the case, i have other solutions

Hmm, could be because its in fastboot mode. Try this:
-pull the battery then reinsert
-turn the phone on normally (hold power for a second, then release). Wait a few minutes for the phone to boot, then plug it in and try the ruu again.
Hi to all

Suddenly, after the boot animation is finished, nothing happens, the screen is "black". The phone works, because when I connect USB to the computer sound. I can not get into Recovery (Home + Volume Down), can not do anything. I tried to remove the battery, but it does not help. I tried with adb, but there is "error: device not found". So I installed the drivers, asking me activate USB Debugging on the phone, and I can not access the phone.
Do you have any idea how to access recovery mode and install the new ROM?
Please help!
Thanks in advance.
just turn on your device with press volume down + power to get into the bootloader..then from there you can select recovery

I finally managed this problem. I pulled off the battery over the night, and this morning I can booted into the recovery. So, I installed new ROM, all my apps, and now I performed backup to the my PC.
Thanks for help!
Regards.
Again same problem. For few hours everything seems fine, but just now my HTC has "blank" screen... Nothing to do. Again, I can't go to Recovery, nothing... What's going on with this phone?!?!

How to do this? And, if I do that, will be my phone still rooted after that?

No, I can't go to bootloader with volume down+power. About state of phone... S-off, that's I know. The ROM is installed earlier, but today I perform full wipe, and then installed ROM again, not backup/recovery, but fresh install. USB debugging is, as far I know, disabled... What should I do?

did you already try it adb is connected or not..?, just try first with "adb devices" (while the phone is on booting and had a black screen)
anyway why your phone can't go into bootloader by pressing volume down + power..?, is that already broken with your volume rocker..?
what happen if your pull out the battery first just a few minutes..then put in back again..and try it again pressing volume down+power..

i assume that you already had SDK/ADT or adb.exe and fastboot.exe on your PC.. if not just downloading from here..
and already had installing the latest HTC driver on your PC..
firstly your let the phone is boot like normal..then after you see the black screen..try connecting it to your pc..
then open your SDK folder (place of adb and fastboot.exe) then run cmd and source to your adb folder.. example : if your adb folder is in "C:/android tools/" then you must change source to that folder with typing "cd C:\android tools", now you ready to used it..don't closed it..just let it open
while your phone already booting n had black screen..then already connecting it to usb on your pc..then firstly try typing "adb devices" to check that's the phone is already connected with adb..
if your phone is detected..then you had prompt after that is your phone serial number that on list of attached devices
if success connected..then you can typing "adb reboot-bootloader" or "adb reboot recovery" (all command w/o quote)

you sure that your pc already had latest HTC driver right and support with your OS..?
if so..maybe that's the usb debugging is not already active on your phone indeed..
because what i know is that just had two option to access your phone again:
1. with your volume down+power to access bootloader of your phone..and you can do it everything from there..
2. with adb command on android home of your phone..
while both option that is doesn't work..i'm sorry..i don't know more how the way to access your bootloader again beside the two way above..
anyway maybe you can try it again like the first way you success go into bootloader with pull out the battery over few hours like before..
and when you've already success flashing new rom again..don't forget firstly to enable it usb debugging from system settings..and connect as charge mode only..
and don't forget to disable fast boot mode too from system settings if you using sense rom

Yes, I have valid drivers, because before this disaster it was possible to connect phone with PC without any problems.
Have you any idea why the phone go "dead" after few hours working just perfect? Hardware or ROM related issue, what do you think?
I pulled battery out just now, for tommorow morning I giving up, maybe I'll be lucky and again I can with volume down + power booting into Recovery Mode.
Thank you, my friend!
P.S. Do you have any suggestion for some stable and good ROM?

i'm not sure about that..until now..what i see is still software related..but i don't know what software exactly had the problem is..
can be from the recovery that you had installed the rom..or else..
to make sure what exactly is.. you must return the phone to the stock..stock bootloader, stock rom and stock recovery too..all back to the stock..with flashing stock RUU while your phone back in normal condition..
you know the forum rule is doesn't give any permission to all member for compare the rom..
