i've had my sprint note 2 UNactivated for over a year now. i've been using it as a gps tablet. with 3 full fledged gps maps downloaded to phone. and a dash corder app that records to the external card.
last week i had it activated. rooted and installed busybox and tether. and now, i have no phone memory. it's plum full so now the phone is acting up. i tried deleting one of the gps maps but got the write restricted error.
my sprint note 2 says 11 gigs. my verizon note2 which is my main phone says 13.7 gigs.
i download 4.4.2 on laptop and just did a reinstallation using odin. the phone still says 11 gigs.
how can i get the full drive back to full size????? so that i have the entire hard drive to use.
or is it possible part of it went corrupt.
phone was working just fine untill i did the root using philz with cwm. installed supersu from sdcard AND playstore.
i had a different bootload before all this. but couldn't get the root to work. somehow i ended up with philz on the last attempt. but the phone didn't start acting up UNTILL mission accomplished.

Well each note 2 version has different partition sizes. The l900 (sprint) had 11 gigs for internal sd.

i could almost swear i had 2.5 gigs free space before root. i defenitly wasn't getting memory full errors and glitchy software.
unless others confirm the same answer, i'm not buying it.

He must have a special L900. I'm sure if your memory were to get corrupt the whole 16 gigs would be inaccessible. Phone comes with 16gigs. System uses 4.98 which leaves you with 11 ?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using XDA Free mobile app
i did a wipe of the phone. to see if that would fix the problem.
still only got 11 gigs. the stock rom only took up .5 gigs. leaving me with 10.5 gigs.
installed my gps app i use the most for trucking. plus a couple of other apps. i've still got 8.39 gigs free of 11 gigs. if i install my 2 other gps apps. that'll be more then my available free space. i'd like to test those 2 apps as i'm looking for something new, getting burned out on the same app.
i have no idea why my trucking gps is only 1.7 gigs, as the other 2 apps i had were 4.5 gigs. but i could see one being that big for the landscape features. can't see why the other one would be that big.
one of those apps, has real life landscaping. as to your surrounding area. it's not your typical basic screen with lines for streets.
on a comparison. my verizon note2 has 13.7 gigs to play with.
we never get use of the full hard drive size. but one phone has 2.7 gigs less then the other phone.
Again refer to my first relpy. I answered that already and it was confirmed in this thread about our size.

Last 2 days android market stopped to work. It is unable to download the apps.. any
Obviously the connection and blackdroid's market works, did u have the same issue?
i dont have any issues here, have you tried connecting to wifi to double check connection?
I'm also having issues with the Market since yesterday. When I go to the Downloads tab, it gives a Network error. But works after few tires.
Maybe similar issue as me? I have 16MB free ATM and it just shows any app as continuous downloading without any progress or download since yesterday using WiFi. Removing 22MB apps like Google Earth resolves nothing. With t-mobile here.

I've 20MB internal and I cleaned cache and data, but the official market still doesn't work.. argh. All the rest is OK
My issue was fixed on a reboot, tested twice... on both periods it was RAM being near fully used halting market. Looks as if some app was leaking heavily. Everything installed fine now.

Happened to me to and a reboot solved it. I think times like that require a task manager. Only time i'd use one.
I've 40Mb free and rebooted several times but the bug is still here
Hard reset seems the only way
it started to work again and idont know why. maybe on button plus hold menu worked then
This afternoon I had around 800-900 MB of free storage in my phone's internal storage. Suddenly in the late evening, I got a notification that disk space is low. I checked the space usage and saw the remaining space is less than 50 MB! I did not use the phone since afternoon except playing Bubble Bash & Doodle Jump. What is more weird is within 7-10 minutes space came down to around 8MB!! I immediately restarted my phone and wiped cache and dalvik cache. This stopped the space auto-decrease weirdness but I did not regain my lost space back, and have no idea where it went!! I am using MIUI ROM at present and will really appreciate if someone can help me without me having to backup/restore my data. Thanks, Abhi.
It shows that some bad apps you installed were silently downloading or expanding something in the background. You have to trace back and narrow down from which app recently you installed caused this memory issue. Otherwise, a clean flash rom would be a good start.
^^Seems logical. However, my data plan expired one week back and I haven't reactivated it yet. So downloading is ruled out. Also, I have not installed any app in the past few days. So I don't get it why this will suddenly happen!! I also checked all the apps' data usage, and it was normal for all of them. Most probably I will end up wiping but I am still dumbfounded!!
Sometimes the data run even if it expired. Not sure how to explain this. Or some trojan/virus self expanding is resides in your system.
Installing anti virus might detect it. I'm using AVG full version anti virus. It scan every files installing or moving around the system or in the sdcard. So far so good..

No, I deleted just some of the apps I don't need hoping to get more free space.
Sorry, but I already said it was like a month ago or so.

What is the current status of tethering on Verizon? I know they were supposed to be cracking down on it. Is there a certain app or method that they can't detect?
I used to tether on my eris fine, but that did not have built in tethering. I used wireless tether from the market, not sure if that makes a difference though.

You can get android-wifi-tether from Google Code (http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/) and side load it on to whatever phone you want. AOSP ROMs have it built in (Settings>Wireless and Networks>Tethering and HotSpot). Or you can use an app called PdaNet (in the market here: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.pdanet).

Also as far as we know they can't detect, but if you use something like 50+GB of data in a month you're at risk of getting throttled. If you do get throttled then the following month it will be lifted.
You need root to tether (unless you want to pay for verizon tether that cost 30$ a month)
You can download it here:
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
Also,
wireless_tether_2_0_7.apk is the most reliable working one for our phone.
You don't necessarily need root to tether, as PDAnet and easytether don't require it.
Been using wifi tethering on verizon to run playstation2 and works great. Be sure to setup the access option to protect yourself from unwanted traffic.
Android Wi-Fi Tether and EasyTether both work really well on the Dinc, I've used them both as long as I've had my phone with no problems whatsoever. I add in wildstang83's Bunker Buster Data Throttle Remover and get an extra 15% - 33+-% download speeds on top of that, and I've used some ungodly amounts of data some months and never had a problem so far. I maintain two full PC's and the phone itself with better internet speeds than are affordably available in my mountain-fortress here in Virginia. I recommend splurging the ten bucks for EasyTether Pro, because it's a pain trying to keep tricking it into thinking you're a new user, and the dev deserves some cash benefit for the work, too. Well worth it, and it works on anything with a usb port, so it's really useful for travelling, et cetera... I never got anything very good out of PDA Net, but it's been a long time since I've tried them out, they may have gotten better since, I'm not sure, though.
PDAnet is a good choice
So the default tethering option in CM7 can't be detected by Verizon?
This contradicts what I've read elsewhere.
"Can't" is too strong of a word. If AT&T can enforce it's policies on people who use tethering w/o paying it is within the realm of possibility that Verizon will as well.
Quite bluntly, use it until you lose it.

Look at "Phone Memory" not internal storage or SD card space. Our phones only allow 150 MB, or something to that space requirement, for app storage. Delete an app or two you no longer use as you likely have a lot of apps.

Phone memory shows 748/447. I'll try to move a few more to the SD card but that is filling up too.
Thanks.

I moved every app to the SD card that I could and deleted a bunch of others. Memory now showing 748 available and 662 free and I am still unable to complete the install. But I can download all the apps I deleted and those install fine on the phone memory.
Does it only stop you from side loading apps or is it something else I should be looking at? I am going to try and side load something else and see what happens.

You have more space than I do, you shouldn't have a low space warning. Mine reads 748/217.
Side loading should work fine, that's the way I installed wifi tether. Just check "Unknown Sources" obviously.

Pdanet and Easy Tether
Is there somewhere to download either or both of these programs and side load them? The market blocks these for Verizon users. I am not rooted.
Thanks
Google search "pdanet" or "easy tether" or any tether program for that matter and download it from the respective developers site. Verfiy via the Android Market website what respective Developers official site actually is.
Once ready to install on your phone, make sure "Unknown Sources" is checked in: Settings>Applications.
Easytether is available on the Amazon app store as well.
Longtime customer of TMobile and really fed up with the entire data issue. I still can't believe they were able to get away with the "unlimited" throttle back which was worthless when it happen. I admit to a little resentment.. Anyhow I digress. My current plan allows for unlimited data on my phone and 6.5GB Hotspot (tethering). I do not listen to music, or watch videos on my laptop the device being used for mobile hot spot. However last few months I max out. This month I received a text on the 4th I had used 6 and less the an hour later another text used 6.5, so I bought up to the 8 and 3 days later received text saying I had used the 8. Its not possible I am only sending emails and simple web browsing on laptop. ALL DOWNLOADS, software, music, videos, etc are being done on my phone. I went round and round with TMobile and all they can tell me is the total amount used. How can I tell amount being used on laptop?? And if the CSR at Tmobile cannot give me those amounts individually am I suppose to blindly trust them? I DON"T. Something is not right here.. can anyone give me any suggestions or advice?
This is a really hard thing to diagnose.
Are you running a custom rom?
On staock rom the phone is setup to push all data when tethered through a specific APN that is different from what your phone uses for it's data.
That is how they knw how much data is being used.
It is possible that if you are running custom rom that it is sending data through the wrong one.
And I know this is going to sound to obvious, but the hotspot you make with the phone is it password protected and different from what anything else has access to?
If it is unsecured that could just be that someone else is leaching off your connection.
If neither of these is the case you would want to then find a bandwidth monitor for your computer to see if there is any other programs that are running in the background that are doing something without your knowledge.
I know I accidently has windows check and update on its own and between a office service pack and other updates it used 2gb on mine. Never knew it was doing it.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Running stock and hotspot is password protected. Is it possible all data when tethered is going through that same apn? If I decide to download something on my phone while tethering and that is being or charged to my hotspot??? There must be some explanation for this...
If you're not using tether, turn it off as that may be a possible explanation. The other option is to flash a ROM that circumvents the tethering apn through tmo and carry on as usual.

If you have updates constantly that eats you up the amount of data as well I wasted 2.5 on 1 day just doing that without noticing

Thats a lot of data. I've gone as high as half that in a couple days. But some people have been saying that it's to obvious because your phone can't possibly burn through that much data. So eventually you might get dropped for violating the terms of use agreement. Idk. This is what I've been told. Just a heads up. That's allot. Plus I fear the day they do away with unlimited data because its used as a home internet service. ... Just saying... That's alot of fuggin data for two hours on a smartphone!! Haha lmao. See if you can hit a hundred!
I tethered my g3 with a playstation 4 and downloaded a full game to see if it would let me without hitting a limit, Thanks for the heads up. Have a few games to download in coming months I'll see if I can hit 100gigs.

My phone shows no data whenever I switch it to ipv4 anybody else having that issue?
data
I set everything up just as your instructions say and so far so good! I am however using skydragon rom with there kernal as a note. What im wondering is how do i tell the difference between using data and using hotspot data? How can i be 100% sure im not going to get a enormous bill at the end of this months cycle?
If you use prime thether mod and use a butt load of data t mobile can't do anything about it. There plan says UNLIMITED DATA! I know Netflix uses a lot, so it's hard for them to figure out on what your using the data for. I've gone as far as 90gb of data last month two months and nothing.
i cant seem to get this Mod to work. i switch roms switch modems. tried both, 10m and 10c and cant get it to work switch apn to Apn to APV4 and cant get it to work. i restarted my computer, my computer connects but there is no DATA coming thru, i tried with other devices, they connect but no data!. I Gave up.
Question. Is the tethering supposed to turn off automatically if it isn't being used? Never noticed this before but lately when I'm steaming to my tablet at work using this mod, if i pause what I'm watching the tethering is turned off. I'm usually gone about 15 minutes when it happens. No biggie i guess but i never noticed this before. Thanks.
SOAB. I just saw there was an option set by default to turn off after 10 minutes. Nm my Question.

Hay there I was the one who made that rom and 1.2 is pretty much pure stock + sd card kitkat fix so it shouldn't be on the rom side. If you have any xposed modules running I bet it is the problem or outdated twrp. Try to update twrp with twrp manager from the play store and/or remove all xposed tweaks. If I can give you some advice unless you really like 10C the lonely rom you might want to find a new rom. Sadly I don't have the time and will not be able to update that rom (at least not in the next couple months). I am going to request it to be locked after I do some changes in the op.
Edit* I just remembered I have two 1.2 versions. the first 1.2 was up for about 4 hours before I took it down and turned it into 1.3 so if you have the version that has the 2g/3g/h/4g icons (no 4g lte because H is what tmobile calls 4g and lte is the only true 4g) it is now the 1.3 version and has changes that will not work with primetether. Simply dirty flash the corrected 1.2 over your current build and primetether should work. Quick link to the rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/development/rom-lifes-stock-rooted-t2821821
Does any body know if this mod works with any 5.0 roms?
Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there a version of primetether that works with the stock lollipop coming soon?
no more tethering?
Yes I also ran in to this problem last night. No matter what Rom I use, the Tmobile screen pops up when I try to access my browser. What has happened? Has T-mobile found a way to stop AOSP tethering and prime tethering?
I just tried installing SR Remix and it still doesn't work.
