NEEDED: not smart cover hard case - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Accessories

I am looking for a hard case that ISN'T a smart case. I have never been a fan of the smart cover and really just want like a thin BLACK hard case.

Bumper Case (modded TPU)

Tried looking for a case that would protect the bezel (like the bumpers for the iphone (i know)) and couldn't find any. Have a screen protection and plan on getting the ZAGG dry install skin, so really don't need anything for the front or back. Just want to maintain the shiny bezel. I know...Lame...I could just get the full body skin from ZAGG, but don't wanna go through the hassle.
Had a spare TPU case (rubber on side, hard plastic on back). Ended up cutting out the hard plastic and ended up with this. It's not bad. It retained it's shape and the phone still fits snug. It is much easier to take in and out of it though.
same here, couldnt found any bumper guards for this phone. but nice job on it
Question, can you take off the battery cover without removing the case?
No. The rubber wraps around the phone too much.

Same case I picked up from eBay. I might try this as well
Looks awesome imo...but the hardcover in the back can be i life saver tho.
Did anyone ever find a product like the one that was modded? I want just the bumper as well, like the iPhone.
No bumpers just cases for 989....

Finally found a case i love... the Hybrid

Hybrid case with hard plastic around each corner but the rubbery feel/grip where you will hold the phone. really tight and not bulky.
this is my 3rd case. Kickstand case - waaay too bulky. tpu case - nice but kind of slippery didn't think it protected the phone that well. this hybrid case is just great...highly recommended.

How is the case. I saw it and was thinking about it. My biggest thing is how much bigger and heavier does it make the phone? I'm using a tpu for that exact reason.
Holy crap that thing looks THICK... look how recessed the camera bezel is! And that sticks out of the phone!
I never understood why anyone would want a hard case. Hard cases will transmit all the shock right through the case to the phone - which is what you buy your phone to protect.
I've got a TPU case, it's got a feel like hard rubber, so if I dropped it, I'd feel better that the case itself would absorb shock and protect the phone.
Plus, it's thin - look at pictures of it and compare how the lens looks. It fits well enough that it doesn't even look like a case, honestly.
because hard cases stop PUNCTURE assaults. Soft cases stop impact assaults.
so a "hybrid" is usually preferred. soft on the corners where impacts do the most damage and "hard" on the back to stop puncture style impacts.
at least that is the theory.

PureGear GripTek case

I first had the Seidio Surface case with kickstand and while I liked the case the kickstand was worthless in portrait mode, it was also a bit slippery to hold. Next I bought the SupCase and it does provide more protection than the Surface without adding too much bulk. The edges were a bit sharp but had started to wear down and the case provides more grip then the Surface & has a dimple. A downfall of this case is trying to type while the phone is on a desk/table as it slides around.
So I recently purchased the PureGear GripTek case in green. This case is not bulky but provides great grip due to the multitude of grooves in the sides and back of the case. The lip around the screen protects it if placed face down but thin enough that it doesn't interfere with swiping. The buttons have a good feeling to them and the bumpers on the corners will provide more impact protection without being obtrusive. The case slides very easily in/out of my pocket as well. Overall it's hands down the best case I've owned or seen. I plan on taking a Dremel with a round stone and carefully making a small dimple myself in the case, shouldn't be very hard to do and will make the grip even better.
I do wish that PureGear offered more color choices, I would like to see a darker blue & red along with other options. I bought the case from www.WirelessGround.com for $14 shipped with an online free shipping coupon.

I kinda like this. Is it pretty much a TPU case with softer/more rubbery corners?

Yes, the main material is not as gummy as Cruzerlite TPU cases I have had but it still flexible and easy to install. The added grip of the case is a big benefit with this case, I think I'm going to get a black one also.

Zero bulk leather pouch with speaker and usb hole and magnet for auto on/off?

I cant find a zero bulk leather pouch with speaker, notification led and usb hole and magnet for auto on/off
Can anyone help me?
It's better a sleeve or a cover like the ringke slim with screen protector or both?
Thank you
I highly doubt leather pouches will have so many cutouts, its hard enough to clean the insides, but with these cutouts it'll get dusty inside very quick and not something you'd want. Some caseology cases have a leather back, but they're not a pouch. Or if you're looking only for a leather feel to the phone, some of the skins are a good way to go. Not real leather, but you get the texture.
If you really want a leather pouch, you could just get one off eBay (for a cheap one) or order a slightly more expensive one, and alter (make cutouts yourself, not that hard to cut leather) it to your taste. I have yet to come across a leather pouch with the cutouts you speak of.

Note II - CruzerLite Androidified Case

This case is a great way to protect your phone with style.
The design is of the case is well planned and thought out. The case is made of TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), which if firm and flexible all the same time. This case does a great job protecting the phone from scratches, bumps, and nicks. There are perfect cutouts to access all buttons and ports.
The rear has a translucent matte finish and wallpapered with the Android robot, while the sides are clear.
In the hand, the case is very light and does not add any noticeable weight. Once on the phone, the case enhances the look and feel while protecting it as well. Your phone will be firmly held in place by a small lip inside of the case. There is also a small raised edge on the front of the case so your phone can be placed faced down without scratching your screen.
If you are looking for a case to protect your phone with a bit a style, you will not find many better.
