[Q] Root SM-P600 on Mac - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

I've been trying to root my 10.1 (2014) for a couple of hours now. I have tried to run "wine" to execute Odin as well as installing the Mac and Windows drivers. I also installed Kies, though I close it before I try to root (I read it may interfere). Am I missing something? I want to root my device, but I can't figure out a solution.
My mac recognizes my device until I put it in download mode.

Hi,
Just a stupid question: are you sure to be in download mode and not in recovery ??
Download mode: Volume Down + Home + Power

It's in download mode. I have rooted other devices, but Odin doesn't work with Mac because it's an .exe...that's why I tried the wine app to run it. It runs but there is no recognition of the device

[MAJOR PROBLEM] Samsung Galaxy Nexus - try to Root the phone, now unusable

I had used "Galaxy Nexus Toolkit V7.7.0 to :
Unlock my BootLoader,
Root my phone
Rename Files Recovery
Flash Recovery (CWM Touch)
Install BusyBox on Phone
And now, i have install the rom JellyBean 4.1.1 with the Recovery Mode :
(I take the Rom here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737849)
After HAVING done all of this, i try to boot my phone, but he remained stuck on the loading screen (animation) ... even after 1 hours of waiting....
I had go back in recovery mode and I "Wipe" all the DATA, now there is no more operating system on my phone and i'm not able to install a new ROM and i can't even go thru my phone data via USB cauz my computer not recognize my Samsung Galaxy Nexus anymore...
Someone can help me I think I'm in big trouble right now...
This is the problem with toolkits. Things can go wrong and you don't know where it went wrong. See my signature for my thoughts.
As far as getting your phone working again. Follow efrants guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895 it has all the info you need to get up and running.

First of all, next time, do not use the toolkit or one-click-root methods. They have more chance of bricking your device than using fastboot commands.
Also, can I ask you which recovery you have right now? Is it clockworkmod or stock?
Ok thanks i try this right now... Hope it will work, i'm freaking out at the moment...
Ok, i'm in big big trouble.
The driver does't find my Device at all. I can't enter in my phone via USB from my PC, so i can't do anything....
They have no more OS on my device, i guess this is why Windows7 dont recognize my phone with any drivers i had try the one from SAMSUNG that have working well for me before i **** up my phone, and now the Universal Naked Driver (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20058157&postcount=1) , don't work

Make sure you uninstall any unrelated drivers first. Then proceed with the driver installation.

I have already done this...
I had uninstall the SAMSUNG driver correctly.
And then install the Universal Naked Driver.
Nothing work for me, it's like my phone had no more OS installed, and windows doesnt recognize it.

Boot into the bootloader. Then install the driver.
Your phone should show up as Android 1.0 in your device manage on your PC. Update that.

I've been seeing issues with the toolkits and rooted my phone hours ago using adb, worked flawlessly except the drivers lol.
But after I got that resolved it worked, no jb issues and no other issues. Recovery stuck as well.

OK so it looks like you have the driver installed.
What is telling you to enable USB debugging mode?
Read the link I posted and flash the stock image via fastboot.

Yes, I realize you can't do these things. I gave you the info to fix your problem in the second post.
You need to boot into the bootloader and flash the stock images with fastboot. I don't know how much clearer I can be.
Be patient with rooting, frustration will lead to mistakes.

Ordinarily, I don't recommend tool kits either, but in this case you quite frankly seem like the kind of fella that needs one. SO HERE IT IS. This is a different toolkit than you used before. Be sure to select the correct device first off(because this works with ALL Nexus devices not just one), then do the part entitled "Initial Setup". Do the FULL DRIVER INSTALLATION. It may be that you don't need to, but it will not hurt so do it anyway. After that, click on the "won't boot up" checkbox under "Flash Stock + Unroot" button, then click the button. At all times, read and follow directions. I used this toolkit once, now I do things manually. But you seem incapable. Not intended to be insulting, just a statement of your technical aptitude. Not everyone can do this stuff. So if you have tried EVERYTHING above and been unable to complete any of it correctly, then try this. It isn't one-click and requires some amount of effort on your part. My 11 year old nephew did it though. Good luck.

As El Daddy said, you are not reading the instructions. Your fastboot driver IS installed properly if you see "Samsung Galaxy Nexus BootLoader Interface". Follow the instructions step-by-step. You do NOT need to see anything in "My Computer". It seems like you are panicking, and not reading...

And let's not scare the guy: you CANNOT "brick" your device using a toolkit. There is a big difference between not being able to boot because of a bad flash (not a brick), and a device that cannot boot at all (i.e., a brick).
It seems like people are using the term brick to mean a lot of things other than what it was meant to mean: "bricked" means that you cannot boot your device without JTAG, or sending it in for repair, i.e., it's as useful as a brick.
Ok thank you everyone, sorry about my patience tonight...
Now ma Samsung Galaxy Nexus is on Jelly Bean 4.1.1 with SuperUser and all the stuff and i'm happy
So thanks everyone.
I got it

[Q] Computer doesn't detect & no DL mode

This is my first time posting on the forums.
My computer does not detect my phone as a mass storage device. Nonetheless it does not detect it at all. I try to access Download Mode, however the only screen that shows is the "Android system recovery <3e>" . I restored to stock using Odin earlier today and I was able to enter Download Mode. I was then going to proceed and root my phone, however it did not root no matter how many times I tried. (I was using the root method found at "galaxys2root.com" and it was the method that did not require Odin). After this, I was unable to access Download Mode.
I may have bricked my phone, but I am unsure about that. Does anyone know what is wrong?
I can try to provide more detail if I can remember, although that should be everything that happened.
Maybe you have an T989D and to access the download mode you need to press only Vol Down while powering the device.
In Jelly Bean the phone is no longer able to act as mass storage device. What ROM do you have now on it (ICS or JB)?

Which drivers should I be installing? Just to be sure.
EDIT: Ok, so I re-installed and my computer detected my phone. One problem down.
EDIT: I re-installed Samsung Kies and now it does not detect.
EDIT: I uninstalled Kies and re-installed drivers, and did not detect. But after reconnecting the USB to my computer it detected.
SOLVED: I am now able to access Download Mode. I don't want to install Kies yet just in case. Thanks for the help richardlibeau!

odin can't detect in flash mode

I know this occurs to several users and to others phones such as SG2,III,Ace and many more. But so far, i still can't figure out how to solve it.
Installed Kies, Installed SGN2 kit 3.0.
When the phone is On, i can transfer any files through Kies, or just drag and drop. Even Odin detect my phone "port 3" in blue.
On the phone, i tickled USB debugging and hold down volume, menu+power to go in Flash mode. and from there i'm stuck. my computer can't detect the phone anymore.
Any help? please!

Odin. Odin can't detect my phone when in FLASH mode(volume down+menu+power).
It's volume down+power+home. Just wanted to make sure you were in fact in download mode.

Its because he has toolkit and kies intalled at same time...it says in toolkit thread to have onr or other....the drivers dont mix
I had the same problem. Heres the solution. Uninstall Keis then reinstall. Then plug in your phone until all the drivers are installed. Make sure you use that same usb on your computer if you have more then one. Then try again by opening Odin first, then put phone in download mode and plug in the phone into the same usb as you did when installing the drivers. For some reason odin only works with the usb you plug your phone into, when you installed the drivers.

[Q] N7100 Rooting problem!

Hello! I'm having some trouble rooting my device. I have rooted my previous device (i9100) before so I'm not a complete noob about this and I followed the instructions EXACTLY.
What's happening is whenever I hit start on Odin to root my phone it comes up with an error "No PIT partition found". The phone is working perfectly well normal but it just seems to get stuck here no matter what I do. I've searched all over the internet and I cannot seem to find a solution to this. I've tried enable/disable debugging and allow unknown sources downloads. I've plugged into different USB's, heck even different computers and installed Kies on(Phone gets recognised by Kies so that's confirmation that I have drivers). I've also set up Odin first then plug my device whilst it's in recover/download (the home/power/volume down one) and vice versa. Nothing...All I keep getting is that error.
I have no clue what's going on but I have contacted Samsung support. The problem is, is that I bought this device off eBay and the seller said it was an unwanted upgrade. So it was still new and when I checked it was. It's also a real Note 2 (Checked it all). I'm not sure if I can still get warranty so I would love it if anyone here could help me with this!
These were errors coming up using Odin version 1.85. However, I have tried everything with Odin 3.
With the newer version I just get " Get PIT for mapping.."
and it stays there and eventually says Failed.
I am running windows vista on this computer and I tested it also on an older xp computer to which I had no success.

Driver problem.
Download and install drivers from ketan's thread.
If you have windows 8 then there is a special procedure.
Search samsung drivers and see in one of the xda threads.

Kies should not run in background
Close if any antivirus installed
Turn off firewall
Then retry

Ive uninstalled kies so it shouldnt be the thing interrupting and have kept drivers because I can still use phone as storage and it recognises it. I am in odin download mode because it says cutom firmware no etcetc. Its all right and ive double checked it. It just doesnt seem tp work :/
I asked the person I bought it off and they said it came factory unlocked and came with his EE contract but it was unwanted upgrade so he sold it. If that information helps
Guys, sorted it out. I tried flashing it through odin on my windows 8 laptop. I think the note 2 will only flash with either windows8 or only on USB2.0 sockets. All computers I have tested and failed on were USB1.0! So happy!

Trouble rooting

I'm not new to rooting or anything, but I am new to Samsung phones. I was trying the t mobile root method and couldn't get it to work. I think it has to do with the drivers. My computer recognizes the phone in storage and camera mode, but when I'm in download mode and connect to computer, my computer says new hardware found but I don't know what to do after that. I followed what chainfire's directions were for the note in the thread about rooting, but there was nothing about drivers.
correct
