Hey guys!
I'm getting a new phone soon. Today the Z3compact was introduced by sony. Looks like a very good phone to me.
So just one question: the display is "only" hd, not fullHD. Is that any difference a human can see...?
What about reading texts (I'm reading a lot and enjoy the great ppi, because you can also read small letters very well)?
Thanks for your reply!

You can't compare the Z3 Compact to ZL
BTW the Z3 Compact Screen is smaller so you won't notice ANY difference

But Z3C screen panel is better than ZL so it will look brighter and clear

Thank you all for your opinion!
After the first adrenaline rush I thought about upgrading to Z3c a lot. But I will stick with my lovely ZL. There's no real improvement that is a must have for me. Think I will skip that phone, maybe Z4c will be next for me...

Yeah wait for at least a compact version with a 1080p display hopefully that'll be the z4c. I actually just purchased my zl, granted I didn't really need it since I have a z1 already but the price was just too low lol paid $219 for it and it's still a nice little device if you're not a hardcore mobile gamer.

Man! Z4C is tooo faaarr!!!
TapaTalked from my Xperia™ (C660²) Z running Dirty Unicorns ROM!
Coming from a ZL, i would wait for Z4c, if it has 810 soc.
I'm waiting for Z3 C. Amazing battery life.:victory:
I think the screen difference in ZL&Z3c's will be very obvious because I have used SP(4.6" 720p with 319ppi) and ZL(5"1080p with 441ppi)
The difference is very clear if you are used to the high resolution
BUT according to the hardware status & software update you should choise Z3c but ZL
S801 vs S4pro ; 13MP IMX135 vs 20.7MP G lens ; one's last version is 4.4.4 and the other is 5.0 even newer
So my suggestion is to select Z3c
BTW why not choise Z3 which has FHD screen and 3G RAM??
Sent from my C6502 using XDA Free mobile app
I'm guessing it's the size of the Z3 that's holding him back. IMO it's too big.
Yes, it's too big for me. Otherwise I would have gone for that one...
If you think Z3 is too big then Z3c is the better choise due to a much better using experience

The Sony Xperia S is a fantastic phone with great features. It is a little old now but still it is really worth the price for all the features it provides.
The main features of the Xperia S are the 12 megapixel camera, 32gb of internal storage, a very high resolution of 342ppi pixel density on a 4.3 inch screen, 1080p video playback, and a battery of li-ion 1750.
This product has a beautiful design with the transparent strip which lights up as you turn the device on. The plastic that covers the body doesn't feel cheap in any, in fact it feels great and fits perfectly in your hand. A great feature that Sony put in this device is taking the picture while the phone is at sleep mode. You hold down the camera button and the phone quickly launches the 12 megapixel camera taking a beautiful picture in less than 2 seconds.
If someone is considering to buy a good smart with good features and a low price, then this is a great option because they have decreased the price by a lot.
You will without a doubt love the Sony Xperia S.

Yes, it is a really good smartphone! But now Sony is increasing prices of his smartphones... Look at the Xperia Z, beautiful, but not so cheap!

To make some use of this thread, It is reported that we may see a Jelly Bean 4.1.2 release for the XPERIA LT26i at the end of March.
This is a bit sooner than the mooted week 17 (mid April) that was touted earlier.
I for one am quite excited to see what is included in this firmware release.
XPERIA Blog reports: Xperia S Jelly Bean rollout commencing in late March?

If me, i would go for Xperia Ion instead of XS....Just add some small bucks than XS...
Bigger screen, better camera, sleek design...Xperia S ? Yellow tint issue, ICS compatibility problem, this is what i read last time

Better camera? They are exactly the same? Design? Its taste. Yellow tint issue was fixed 2 months after release. ICS problem? What the hell you are talking about?
On the other side, XS have much more and better support of devs.

I thought ive used a nice language...Ive mentioned that i read it somewhere...Not that i am firm about it...
But still Ion is a better grab than XS, bigger screen, microSD expansion slot?
And about that XS with ICS not stable, well that happens to my country set whom upgrade to ICS through OTA...Maybe yours not
Chill bro
The fact is that you are speaking about stuffs you dont own apparently, and yes, the first things you said seemed to be like: I affirm this. This is it.
No, xperia S has no screen problems since ages, and has no ICS problems..
the only argument will be: price, screen size, memory, and subjective aspect: design.

From what ive read, every XS users who use OTA to ICS will encounter soo much lagginess...Bcoz of the second core disabled...
If its not true then its good to go though...No hardfeelings bro....
So which should be the best ? Xs or what?
XS got great support from XDA. but if you like bigger screen then may go for iON. But for a phone anything bigger than 4 - 4.3 is too much for me.
XPERIA LT26i has a reasonable speed/size internal flash at 32GB, misses out on MicroSD card, but really not a problem to hang a 32GB USB flash off a MicroUSB cable for most people.
XPERIA S is mostly cheaper
XPERIA ion has, LTE or HSDPA giving higher mobile speeds, a bigger battery and microSD card, but lose ~16GB internal flash.
The screen on both are much the same with XPERIA S having ~342 ppi pixel density and XPERIA ion less as it's screen is stretched out.
XPERIA acro S has 16GB internal memory, MicroSD AND is able to go swimming.
Firmware wise plus or minus a MicroSD the devices are all much the same with same processing hardware.
For all these devices JB(yet to be released) is mooted to have a good raft of features coming such as wireless media broadcast to compatible devices and etc
So this gives many of the software features of the new phones if you're happy to live with a ~1.7GHz Dual Core processor and an Adreno 220.
As already stated their will probably be more development around the XPERIA LT26i as it was part of the ASOP before Sony took over this development.
Go for the Xperia SL, with the latest firmware update it's fixed most of the problems. Only thing I dislike is the overheating and stock ROM forcing you to under clock your CPU during heavy use. With general everyday usage you rarely see this happen though.

No, Xperia S isn't overheating. You can surf the Net and you won't burn your hands Only when you are playing good games(e.g. Real Racing 3) phone can be hot but it isn't 100 degrees and you would be able to play normally without problems. After a while you won't see that phone is hot.

hey guyz,
As i am going to buy this phone next week so i am having some questions running around my head
like what are the key features and problems/issues of this phone?
I have seen some pretty good reviews of this phone on google and youtube but still wanted myself to be sure about this phone
1)is the yellow screen problem present in all xperia s?
2)what is the video playback support of this phone? (720 or 1080)
3)is there any force close or camera not responding problem with this phone?
4)i have seen many xperia phones with warm glow problem in portraits with camera.any chance of this happening in xperia s?
5)wifi or network signal drop issue?
any help will be appreciated
or any other phone that you can suggest
thanks guyz
1) i dont think so, i havent had any Problems regarding yellow tint
2) wow i dont really Know.. The screen is Not 1080 p as it doesnt have 1900x1200 (or 1080 i dunno) like the z
3) the camera is actually pretty quick and stable, but it will be even faster in JB Update. In the dark the camera is Not that good but flashing a cybershot mod or the Xperia v camera will almost fox this issue..
4) havent had that Problem
5) nope none at All. WiFi is a Bit worse than on my old iPhone 4(im ashamed) but still good
Hope i could help you But if i may ask, why buy an XS? Just take a Bit more money And buy a t or something

Not aware of that. My images look good. no tint issues.
Which Samsung phone i would suggest? hm Thats easy: none.
Why buy a samsung phone? The Tablet might be pretty good but the phones are really ugly, made of cheap plastic and overpriced. If you dont want to spend a lot of money go for T or S. If you have a bit more to spare why not the Z or SP?

A few things you should be aware of:
The battery is NOT exchangeable,
There is NO µSD-Slot, so you only have the internal 32GB (ca. 28GB usable).
I own this phone now for 2 months, and i'm absolutely satisfied.
Actually there is no better phone available for the price of about 300,- € (about 350 - 400 $)
The Screen is very bright and crystal clear, like it.
Never had the illumination switched on, because then the display is so bright, worried of becoming blind
One last thing on playing videos:
Depending on the videoplayer (i use vlc) the phone CAN play 1080p videos (downsampled of course), because
the display is (only) HDready: 1.280x720p,
which is imho far enough for a handy display atm.
Compared the Screen with Sa****g S4 in the last days, using a hi-res photo ([email protected]), and saw no really big difference.

i know the screens of xperia t and s are same both 720p but dont know why when i saw the xperia t the only thing that disappointed me was its screen it was not good at all even worse than my previous phone (xperia sola)
yeah my fiance recently got a TL...not sure if that has the same LCD as the T, but its a pretty noticeable difference over my Ion (which i think is similar to the S, but that is an xperia i've never seen in person). I was surprised that its so different, especially for video playback. I'm not saying it is terrible, but no matter the brightness setting, the contrast levels are completely different.
I know i've read that the Ion has one of the better screens...just didn't really notice how good it was until i compared it to an 'updated' version. kind of defeats the purpose imo...

That maybe truth but the real thing about the ZL is that have LTE speed, support up to 64 GB mini SD, latest Android OS, NFC communication, 5.2 inch display (441ppi) running on the Bravia engine 2, infrared port. These are mainly the advantages over the Xperia T

Well, I know this but isn't zl suppost to be superior than t in any way...the advantage that you stated is software related but isn't the purpose of quad core is to be faster and more superior processing power than the dual core....well maybe because all of this new features that make the phone slightly slower than the older t...but despite all this, I just hope the camera in zl is more powerful than t, but from my point of view, maybe it's not...not even the latest update make up for that...hope another update will fix it...still love the zl though...and it's only 5 inch, not 5.2 by the way...

I kinda agree with OP. I have both T (TL actually) and ZL . TL is probably the fastest phone I have ever used - that thing literally flys. But after the latest update, ZL got very snappy too. Try the stock launcher in case you are using something else.I saw some stutter on Nova so I switched back to stock launcher which runs very smoothly now. Also please keep in mind that majority of these phone apps are not optimized to take advantage of quadcore SoCs and 720p screen on T gives it some advantage when it comes to rendering. TL display also seems to have more contrast especially if you compare the red Xperia wallpaper on both phones
Camerawise, my TL did take better low light pictures before ZL got updates. After the last two updates on ZL, I saw significant improvement in picture quality and I'm really happy with its low light pictures now. With that said, I was surprised how much more detail ZL (running the first firmware) captured in extremely low light situation compared to galaxy S4. It was a huge difference - night and day and things got just better after the latest update.
By the way, ZL is way more compact than TL (higher screen to size ratio), comes with two more cores, IR blaster, and FHD display, looks much better in my opinion, gives much better battery life compared to TL (more than 2X in my case) - So I'd pick it over T.

By the way, ZL is way more compact than TL (higher screen to size ratio), comes with two more cores, IR blaster, and FHD display, looks much better in my opinion, gives much better battery life compared to TL (more than 2X in my case) - So I'd pick it over T.

Well this is the benchmark result..the first two is zl and the second two is t..not surprising zl is faster but from my opinion the t is still slightly faster...and also only made the test once..
And I also agree with you about your statement, in the end, I also choose zl over t...thanks...

Benchmarks don't do a justice to T, right? They all are craps anyway - work only for 'expert' reviewers. By the way, you're not using any launcher app on ZL, right? I noticed a bit of lag on Nova after the latest update. So I switched back to stock launcher and it feels very snappy.

Yup, just as expected anyway...when benchmarking, it's seems they effectively use all the core for this result..so more core more score...
Like 7 said, maybe some of the new updated apps not optimized for quad so maybe for real life usage, it feels slower than more optimized phone even though its older..maybe more updates will solve it...
And no, I'm not using any launcher app. If I do I will be using the widget anyway cause xperia widget is to small and not eye catching enough..it's a matter of style anyway...
It's been a long time sinse I'm not using an android phone, so after I got these two and compare it, it just kept me over night, thinking..well, anyone need a snappy phone right..?

I first owned the Xperia T and switched to ZL because I wanted LTE. I didn't notice differences in speed, both worked really well. One thing I noticed, is the much better battery life of the Xperia ZL. This was besides LTE a main concern when I used the Xperia T.
Nonetheless, a used Xperia T is one of the best deals you can get (at least in Germany) if you don't need LTE and long battery life.

Yup, I test it and some difference can be seen.. But I also acknowledge about the battery life..I have test to watch blu-ray video about 2 hours and surprisingly it still got 85% more battery in it without using power management...I have using more android power devises and when I watch it, it will drain half the battery in this format video in that length...really love the zl...

Ok, I'm not asking for a Camaro from Sony - LOL. But I'd like to see a similar supercharged beast that would be the counterpart of Z1 as ZL was to Z.
Z1 is gorgeous by all means, so was Z. But I'm pretty sure some people picked ZL over Z because of its nice compact form factor, IR blaster, and different look. I understand that Z1 needs some extra surface area to carry its waterproof/dustproof status along with the huge battery. Maybe I can trade those for a more compact ZL1. - anyone else?

The ZL came out after Sony released the Z, so I would expect if Sony is planning to make something similar it will come in a few more months after the Z1

I dont think so. I can Say that ZL was almost a failure in front of Z. considering the facts that the SONY itself is ignoring this device as we can see in privilage app, commercials, etc. Z1 Mini is on the verge of being released. So this might be a marketting factor.

Major feature of ZL reading function in ir blaster doesn't work. The only reason why I bought this phone over Z.

I can't understand that people have problems with IR blaster... Back when I was on stock rom, I could use every function of the IR blaser. I have let it read from the original remotecontroll and not a single problem...

ya.. i wonder why ppl said that is a failure.. for me i have no problem to learn the signal and use it to remote my tv..
I'm interested if it uses the same, or better, Z1 Triluminos display.
Which is proving to be much improved over the ZU Triluminos:
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_z1-review-983p2.php
It also has to have the 3000mAh battery.
With expected, and much needed, improved endurance in web browsing, and video playback.
Improved loudspeaker performance and quality would be.nice too.
Sure would be interesting to see just how Sony would update their most compact 5 inch Xperia.
Hopefully there's a demand, based on the limited market release of the ZL.

Is the expected to be announced at MWC, D6503, the ZL successor we aspire for?
While I expected at least Snapdragon 800 ,Adreno 330, 3GB RAM combo with a quad-core Krait 400 upgrade.
I was hoping for the same compact form but updated design like we're seeing in E1, with updated finger print friendly back.
With a vastly more efficient, higher quality IPS LCD with same PPI, larger battery, 32GB internal storage, with higher quality internal/external loudspeaker performance.
