New day same old question.
Ss you don't tell anything about how far it got and where you got stuck, I assume you got the whelp failure. In this case firewater doesn't work and you'd have to use SunShine to gain S-Off and pay 25$.
Right! I got stuck in whelp. I'll try SunShine. Never eared before. Thanks

Are you on stock or are you running a custom Rom. You got to be stock, as the only custom ROM some tell it's working on is Maximus HD.

On stock, but my model id it's not supported

Any updates on this? I have exactly the same problem.
Sorry if this is a noob question, but can I flash a non-asia ROM which IS supported and get S-off that way?
Is there ANY way I can get s-off on the damn thing? This is really getting frustrating. I've tried sunshine, same issue as above.

If you can find a ROM that is close to stock with stock kernel and rooted it might be able to trick Sunshine
Not a backup,a straight up stock based ROM

Right it's was released beginning this week, I was waiting to s-off my m8 HK version from August.... Finally get it!
sunshine 3 works great for me, and it's well worth the 25$ for the hassle of trying obscure tools to do it yourself.

Hi, recently I have bought an M8, unlocked it's bootloader via HTCDev, installed latest TWRP, rooted it by flashing SuperSU zip, and while trying to S-Off, got message that it doesn't work on my phone yet, so no S-Off available.

You're doing nothing wrong, your phone just isn't compatible at this time (and maybe never)...nothing you can do other than voice your concerns in this thread...

Thanks. Yes, I had installed some OTAs. They arrived too quickly, before I have read detailed S-off manuals.

It won't show anything, it's a hardware change between M8 handsets and some work others won't. If yours doesn't work now, it won't work ever unless the firewater (or other devs) get it working...

I doubt it's hardware, if it's implemented in the first place it must be software especially seeing as s-off can be achieved on any device with a java card, apparently.

Yes and ? That's a fair price for s-off. The profit you gain for having it is well worth the money....
- lock the bootloader again
- flash recoveries from within the recovery or app. In other words no pc needed anymore
- return the phone back to stock 100% for warranty issues.
- down and upgrade the hboot anytime
- flash any firmware to convert the phone as it's unbranded if you have a branded one.
All nice examples.
And the choice to buy it or not is in the hands of the user. People should not complain that it cost a bit, be happy it's there. The firewater team also invested in the exploit, especially time and maybe also some bricked devices.
Cheers.

As you can see, my CID is "HTC_332" and my version-main: 1.57.599.1. I installed a custom recovery (TWRP) and I forgot to backup my stock recovery now I can't receive OTA updates (doubting that I receive something as my phone is from Latin America...).
The thing is I have download a 1.54.401.10 nandroid backup and also the 1.54.401.10 stock recovery (both from Europe), my phone has bootloader unlock and S-ON. I was able to do a restored from a nandroid backup and also flash the stock recovery (also both from Europe). After this my phone is working just fine, still on my bootloader shows "TAMPERED" and "Unlocked".
Well my question is this, after doing this am I going to be able to receive OTA's updates even if my phone has CID from Latin America (htc_332) ?
It is going to affect something because I flashed an Europe Firmware and stock recovery on my phone?
What is the difference between Firmware 1.57.599.1 and 1.54.401.10? (which one is better or which one you guys recommend?)
Thanks in advance for any info.

You will receive OTA but it will fail the verification and you won't be able to install it.
What you have now is same as you flash a custom ROM. No working OTA for your device.
You can only do OTA with your own stock ROM and stock Recovery.

Thank you for the Quick respond, is there a way to get the stock recovery for my version-main: 1.57.599.1?
What about if I change my CID to SuperCID will be able to receive OTA updates with the European Stock ROM?
I don't see anywhere stock recovery 1.57.599.1, only see one backup.
You can only change to SuperCID when your device is S-Off.
To receive and install European OTA, you need S-Off then change to any EU CID (a few of them) or SuperCID and change your MID currently 0P6B16000 to 0P6B10000

Hi Folks,
I just S-OFF my HTC One M8, Change my MID to 0P6B10000 install a stock rom (1.54.401.10) and also its Stock Recovery. After that I remove the tampered and the unlock notification, I ran the "Check Update"and SCORE!!! I receive an OTA Update. Now my question is this: If I change my MID to the Unlocked one (0P6B12000) Do I will receive OTAS anyways? (even if my bootloader is unlocked and my phone is rooted)
Thanks again.

You will be, as long as MID, CID and stock ROM (as well as FW of course) you installed all match each other, as those things are what the OTA server is going to check and match.

Your MID don't has to be changed, as it is the HTC WWE MID. and with superCID you definitely will receive OTA.
HTC WWE is in fact the best MID you could have, as far as I can imagine

Why, and I mean this in a nice way, is your solution to everyone to unlock or root their phone? If the person just wants it working again then read what they're asking and advise accordingly.
To the OP, can you post the output of 'fastboot getvar all' and we can see what FW build you're on and what we can do to help, shouldn't be too hard

OK, that confirms you're on the old HBOOT (3.16.0000) and is pretty much the issue as to why it's not working as Lollipop ideally needs HBOOT 3.19.0000 to go with the new FW. Was your device a branded phone when you bought it brand new or was it a SIM-free version (e.g. was it on x.xx.401.x first)?

Its not the OS software that is being referred to here. The "firmware" (admittedly, a crappy name as "firmware" can mean a great many things really) is the hboot, radio, media, WiFi and other modules. If your firmware doesn't match the ROM, WiFi being broken is the common result.

Just get back to the stock ROM that matches your current firmware (your hboot indicates that would be Android 4.4.2) and WiFi will work again.
Restore stock ROM and stock recovery for your CID, and it should enable OTA, which yes, that will update your firmware. You'll have to work through a few OTAs, as you are now a couple versions behind.
Was it T-Mobile US or EU? If the former, the RUU is online

Its not just hboot, but all the modules in the firmware "package" that are the issue. Meaning, just updating hboot alone won't fix your WiFi issue.
Hboot is just one of the ways you can (usually) tell what firmware you are on. You can look at the radio number as well.

That's what I wanted to check. The T-Mobile US RUUs are online, EU ones are not so you'll need to restore a backup based on 1.5x - there should be one in the backups thread. What country are you in?

The netherlands, i found the rom but when i restore it gives a md5 failure? i switched md5 checksum of but than he doesnt file back up data...
The Phone is from UK/Virgin Mobile, I unlocked the bootloader and flashed this ROM unaware that my banking app would stop working.
I did the mistake not to make a backup before flashing the custom ROM, I would like to recover to stock but I'm not sure how to go about it,
I tried using RUU_M8_WHL_L50_SENSE60_SPCS_MR_Sprint_WWE_4.25.651.14_Radio_1.09.20.0209_NV_SPCS_1.52_003_release_426232_signed_2 2 which I downloaded here: http://www.htc.com/us/support/rom-downloads.html but it failed ( ERROR [132]: Signature Error ).

Virgin Mobile US is not the same as Virgin in the UK. Wrong CID, and that is the reason for signature fail.
Further, Virgin US is a subsidiary of Sprint, which is a CDMA carrier and the Sprint version of the M8 is CDMA. Even if the RUU ran, it would probably brick your phone.
I don't think your CID has an official RUU. Restore the stock nandroid (4.16.401) for your CID from the following thread (instruction on how to do so in Post #3 of the linked thread, under Questions & Answer): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
I see, thank you. I actually already looked at this thread before but the file "4.16.401.10 - TWRP Thanks to sneakyghost" is offline.
Edit: I guess this could work ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/htc-one-m8-european-signed-ruu-0p6bimg-t2911563

Nope. It clearly says s-off required in the thread. And you need a working OS to get s-off.

Ah yes. Helping too many people at the same time, I got you mixed up.
Someone posted the RUU to the thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61527304&postcount=5393
Looks like the official RUU.exe, but I can't personally vouch for it.

Did you relock the bootloader (required to run RUU with s-on)?
Hi. I read up on various threads and could not find the correct tutorial or method for this?
My HTC One m8 is rooted, unlocked, S-On, and running Lollipop with a GPE ROM.
I would like to upgrade to Marshmallow.
What is the easiest method to do so? No thread I've stumbled upon appears to be what I am looking for, but then again I'm awful at this stuff and also just kind of cautious because I've run into many issues in this kind of work and I just want to make sure I am on the right path.
Thanks, everyone.

Did you root the phone yourself? If so, you should have ADB on your PC.
Plug your phone into your PC, get into ADB
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot getvar all

How did you unlock your bootloader before ? You should already have fastboot.
Open terminal, type ./fastboot getvar all
If you need fastboot/adb for mac, try this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390995

As mentioned, my phone is S-ON, and the link warns that in order to flash the latest firmware, I need to be S-OFF.
Is there another way?
If you're going to tell me I need S-OFF, I should mention I have tried, countless times and hours, to achieve S-OFF, with my friends too, and we just could not manage to get my phone to S-OFF.
So an S-ON method would be awesome.

You have the latest firmware available which according to Captain Throwback you should be able to flash his MM ROM and it should boot just fine.

Excellent. Thank you!
So, to refresh my memory:
1. Download the ROM on my Mac
2. Put my phone into bootloader and connect USB
3. Wipe everything?
4. Flash the ROM
5. Success?

Yep, but do not flash the SU in recovery if it asks if you want to. It will cause you to lose root, if the ROM you are using already has a patched kernel for root.
Hi guys,
will this method work also with build number 4.16.401.10?? My Phone is also rooted, unlocked, s-on and at time running Revolution HD 43.0.
Is it in enough to Boot in recovery (TWRP) and do a Clean install? Or will i have problems with my root Access? Thank u very much!
