[Q] hacked fire tv in canada - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Will it work in Canada. When I was in the states last year I signed up for Netflix. Lots of choices until I came home most of it was blocked in canada. Am I going to run into the same thing with the amazon fire tv

You will. However, a good DNS-based unblocking service (unlocator, unblockus, etc.) works quite well and is easy to set up with the Fire TV -- that's what I'm doing now, also in Canada, and am having no problems.

[Q] Use Kindle Fire in Europe?

hi guys!
im from europe (austria) and have some connections in the USA.
so, they can send me a kindle fire. but now, the question is, is it compatible for european wifi, or is there any thing that i can not use it full in my country?
i know, a little bit stupid, but i want to know.....
Its very unlikely that it won't work.
It only has wifi and no 3G, or GPS or anything. So there isn't anything that is region specific on there. Only thing that might not work is perhaps Amazon Silk or other Amazon services, which is one of the selling points of the KF.
European WiFi is the same as US WiFi so it will work.

Just concern if Amazon would block any Kindle Fire using non-US IP to access. Without external SD card slot, we heavy reply on Wifi to access.
you think they block non US IP's? :/

I honestly don't think so, that would mean if you travel with your kindle fire to asia, europe or even to canada you couldn't use it at all. that makes no sense
i was playing with the idea too, getting me one but i lack those connections in the states. hopefully the prices wont be too high on eBay
Using a WiFi client from different regions shouldn't be a problem.
Just make sure you don't have an access point using the US/Asia specific Wifi channels, these are not allowed in europe and if the regulatory institution catches you, it will get expensive.
no, im using an original router from an austrian internet provider, shouldnt be a problem
canĀ“t wait for my fire!!!

What definitely won't be available for you, at least for some time, is the Amazon Appstore, its limited to the US. And AFAIK the Android Market won't be available either...
i dont care about the amazon app store. but it would be bad if the market is not available. hope for kindle fire development

I don't think we'll no for sure until it comes out, but hopefully Amazon doesn't require a US IP address to access its servers.
i report at ~ 1. december (hopefully).
Hopefully Amazon wont block IPs but this is not something that hasnt been seen before. Apple and Google do it on their OSs.... Market, etc
Amazon block foreign IP-Adress.

Oh for goodness sake the device won't prevent you from accessing the internet! It's only the streaming/downloading services from amazon.com that won't work with a non US IP address.
Amazon prime can be accessed outwith the US using the appropriate VPN.
As a UK Kindle owner, I signed up with Amazon.com to temporarily switch my kindle account to get the small number of apps (word games etc) that were only available in the US. Then switched back to .co.uk. Just sign up using a US shipping service, with the address they provide when you set up an account (only costs when you get something shipped).
There are other ways Amazon can tell your location though - non US credit card for one, so I'm keeping my powder dry on getting a Fire to play with until someone else has tested the water!
ok, thanks bro
im from a non US location too. Can I use this as normal.tablet like install apps via sd card, cable, or usb?

My experience with purchasing a blacklisted Kindle Fire HD 8.9 4G LTE and Unlocked 4G

I got this from some guy on craigslist, brand new in the box, he said it was blacklisted but since it was so cheap, i pulled the trigger anyways.
Everything works aside from amazon integration, but you can just download amazon app and get your books and anything else that way
4g slot is UNLOCKED and works with t-mobile, I inserted my T-Mobile sim from my Nexus 4. At first, my data wasn't working and it added the apn settings and it worked.
Even though the Kindle was blacklisted, I was still able to purchase the data plan from ATT ($50 for all 12 months, you don't pay month by month, $50 covers the entire year!!!!) which is only exclusive to Kindle Fire 4G LTE.
To sum this up, this device is pretty awesome even if blacklisted. It just simply, doesn't matter if it's blacklisted, I am not limited in anyway. I wish there were some roms with 4g LTE, none of them are working so I am going to go with the launcher route. Proof of t-mobile working on this Kindle will be attached.

Good day: I am a little confused not knowing anything about 4G and Plans.
Are you indicating that you use the T-mobile SIM card but, get your data plan from ATT?
ATT does not own T-Mobile??
Are you indicating that you tried your T-mobile SIM card just to see that it works, then you went another direction and got a data plan from ATT?
I called ATT and they know nothing about a $50 yearly data plan.
Did you get the data plan from Amazon and not ATT?
Regards

All you need to do is use an active SIM card from T-Mobile and then Chang the APN settings to T-Mobile's data network settings.
The menu will look like this:
Name. T-Mobile US
Apn epic.mobile.com
Mmsc. Http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Mcc 310
Mnc 260
Apn protocol. IPv4
Apn enabled
Leave the rest of the settings blank or alone except the ones listed above, and make sure to save that as a new Apn profile, then reboot and give it a little time to establish data connection, after that I got really great hsdpa+ speeds.

How would I go about installing the kindle app so I can read my kindle books on a kindle that is unregistered? My kindle fire 2 is rooted, and has google play, but because kindle reader is built in, it won't let me install or uninstall. Is there any way for me to still get my books through amazon app? Sideloading isn't quite working for me. Any help is appreciated!

You would have to install a custom ROM and then use the Kindle Reader app from the Play Store.

Mayday?

Is Mayday a AT&T only feature?
No, it's directly from Amazon, they introduced on their tablets (Kindle Fire HDX, Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, Fire HDX 8.9) first.
It will not work on both of my fire phones . I have Straight Talk using AT&T, So I figured that was why it wouldnt work.

Amazon says: "the device needs to be registered to an Amazon account and have an active, strong Wi-Fi connection to use Mayday"... but maybe the new company policy is to cut the connection when it's coming from a Fire Phone.
Both have very good wifi and both are registered to a amazon prime accounts. I couldnt even do it before the stopped selling them.

How does a device get blacklisted ? Is it from rooting?
If you order it from amazon and it does not arrive and you make a complain about it, amazon will blacklist the device.
If it arrives and you cancel the re-shipped one, the first one can still be blacklisted. In this case you need to contact support and explain them the situation. When you order it from amazon they register the serial number to your profile. If you have a different serial number in you amazon profile than your actual stick, that is the sign of the administrative problem, maybe the re-shipped (and cancelled) one is assigned to you. This happened with one of my friends in few weeks ago. Support corrected the serial number and it started working.

I got a firestick but its stuck on "cant update this firestick"

When I contacted amazon they said it was stolen, I bought it off FBM, the other person stopped responding to me, how can I bypass it?

There's no bypassing an Amazon blacklisting unless the device is rooted. But even then you will not be able to register it with Amazon servers to use the Amazon app store or any Amazon services. You would have to sideload everything.
Depending on which Stick model it is, and what firmware version it's on, you might be able to use one of the rooting methods on XDA.
