After downloading the app Multi touch screen test I have found that the nexus has problems receiving 10 touches at once. There is ghost touches when ten fingers are placed in the test. Sometimes the screen is unresponsive and glitches. My device is not rooted (don't want it to be because i will loose my warranty), It is brand new running 4.4.4 Kitkat with runtime ART, Model number is KTU84P. Any possible fixes? Thanks in advance.

I think 10 is a bit overkill. Does it do it with 5?
If yes, RMA. Don't bother with flashing the TS files.
Ummmmmmm... Why on earth do you need to place all ten of your fingers on the screen at once? Anyways, the ghost touches on Nexus 7 2013 are a known issue. I haven't come across any fixes for nonrooted device. Good luck.

10 fingers is an example when it the ghost touches are "activated" straight away. When I leave the nexus for sometime it starts having trouble with three fingers and five. Is there a way of fixing this if i rooted my device (i have a mac).

I'm wondering how many people are productive on their tablets when using 10 fingers at once on the screen. I can't seem to get the hang of it.
Have you tried it with 20 fingers? If it works with 20 fingers simultaneously, then the screen is made of awesome sauce, IMO.

Just got the new nexus 7 and I'm having some touch issues. When I slide my finger past a certain point the scrolling either stops or zooms. Also, sometimes when I task the screen it talks several times or if I zoom or scroll the screen it taps items or menus. And rise experiencing anything like this?
There are a couple posts up with the same issue you're having. I'm having the same issue. Exchanging today.

When I use my Nexus 7, sometimes the screen will flash a black screen shortly, I track the logcat using the adb. But didn't find any
error information, it seems like the surfacefinger problem in Android 4.3. Dose anybody find the same problem?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks XDleader555
Reconnect the cable of LCD can fix this problem!!!!!! the casing of nexus 7 need to be opened, but it's not hard!
If you are not able to fix it, try to use the JWR66N version!
Can't say I've seen this issue. Then again, I don't have any of the issues some are complaining about. I feel so lucky to have gotten one with no problems.
Does the black screen appear when you're doing something specific or is it completely random?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
Yes, completely random. And the black screen flash in a short time. Normally it's difficult to meet.
Try to use clean ROM, but still happen. Hope the problem relate to the software but not Hardware.

I have the same issue. For a split second the screen will flash to black (off maybe) then back to whatever I'm doing. I had my tablet since the release date, but this issue started maybe a week ago.
Having the same issue myself on Clean Rom and can't figure out a pattern. Has anyone found a fix for this? Do I need to file for a replacement? Thanks!

You should still have a warranty. I think this might be some sort of bug that could be corrected maybe. It seems weird for something like this to occur out of the blue. I may go back to stock to test or try a different Rom that didn't use cm as a base.

Turn off auto brightness if its on. If it doesn't help you can try desabling HW overlays in Developers options settings

Yes that's true and a good point. I just didnt feel like dealing with sending it in to ASUS and all that rather than just taking it back to best buy (laziness). I was thinking the same thing, that there would be a repair update and missed my easy exchange window. Never been on CM with this device so not sure if it's related. Fingers crossed, just an annoyance really... Thanks!

Doesn't seem to help. I'm starting to lean more and more to a hardware issue...

If the update and the factory reset doesn't work, I strongly recommend sending in the unit for RMA. While there, we can take a look at the hardware, and if needed, actually fix it for you.
My screen flicker (random black screen for a millisecond) went away after I checked the connection. I unplugged the screen, blew a little compressed air into the connection, and popped it back on. No screen flicker in sight after that.

I am also experiencing the same problem. I assume you had to open up the tablet to do that? I might give that a try too.
Was anyone able to reproduce this fix?

I had the exact same issue and after reading this thread decided to take the plunge and check the connection. I am typing this on my Nexus now so I don't appear to have broken anything, however I think I have just seen the screen flash black so the problem may still be there.
Given disassembling the thing voids the warranty I would probably recommend not risking it for this issue. I'll let you know if I change my mind.

I take this all back. After 24 hours of no black flashes I am very happy I took the risk.
The flash I saw when I was writing the above post must have been me being over sensitive to chrome redraws or something!

Anyone else having issues with their Nexus 7 2013 not responding to touch or slow to respond after the latest software update? Mine was working beautifully before the update. Now it will work for a few minutes then the touch doesn't respond like it should and usually after awhile it freezes. I need to hold down the power button for awhile to restart it.
Any help? Thank you.

Give us some info of your model 16,32 what date is your box 6,7,8 2013 what version you go from before your problem was it JWR66N ?
I'm getting so tired of people running around saying mine doesn't work or I'm having problems. People start telling us some INFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! about your crap.
The ones I really hate is the ones that say I just updated mine and it works great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bull crap I know better.
Works great hahahaha , you better start testing longer. Or take your freaken hand off the unit or unplug it.
When you go through 5 solid products without a good one there is not a perfect one out there. The odds are terrible.

Mine is worse after the update. I had to remove the screen protector to fix. I especially had problems with single touch not responding. Weird because I had no problems with the screen protector before the update.

Maybe because you used the Nexus 7 update on your Galaxy Nexus?
Same here. Bought my unit day 1 from Amazon. No problems before the update. Flashed Build 9 CM Kanged (from build 3) with the fixes merged, and touch went to hell.
I loaded a nandroid of 15J, updated to 15Q OTA, same issues. Once you update to 15Q, there is no turning back.
No matter what I load, its boinked. It works for the most part but the keyboard freaks out. It completely stops taking inputs for 1-2 seconds, problems pinch/zooming, keyboard randomly inserting characters, etc
Worked fine before with my SP. Now its annoying.
If not just you.

Hi,
I just wanted to ask how many tablets really have problems.
Lots of people here tell about screen bleeding or screen separation.
But: How many tablets do really have issues?
It would be kind of you to leave your vote on the poll, just so we get an idea "1/10 or 1/100".
Regards
user
PS: Sorry for the typo in the poll. Could a mod fix that? Thanks.

Would be impossible to get an accurate response. Most people come to forums to complain whereas you won't hear anything from people who are happy with their device.
For comparison I replaced 4 Nexus 7 2012s for screen lift then eventually gave up. With my Nexus 7 2013 I see no issues yet.
I got 5 replacements and got my refund.

All I had werewere mild touchscreen issues (nexus 7 2013) and those were cleaned up with sfhub's drivers.
Touchscreen problem
Talking about problems, I haven't had any of the common multitouch problems, but every once in a while, I get a random touch that's not detected.
Is this a common problem or is it only me?
I have Paranoid Android ROM and Faux kernel, but the problem was there even before I rooted...
I don't remember experiencing issues when I first got it but definitely noticed it after the OTA update.

Doesn't hurt to try ts10 firmware and reflash OS. You don't have to wipe data but definitely clear cache. That's what resolved virtually all the introduced issues.
I have sent my Nexus 7 2013 to service center for four times...
1st time: dead pixel in the middle of the screen
2nd time: rear case cracked due to screen replacement in the 1st time
3rd time: Mic is not working
4th time: Mic is working but only a little sound can be recorded
Coming: Screen light bleed at the top and I am still thinking to take it repair again or not.....
Conclusion: Garbage QC and service
I bought my Nexus 7 in August from Best Buy.
And it's running like a champ since day 1. No replacements for me.

Hi all,
I have recently been noticing ghost scrolls, where I would be slowly scrolling downwards, say, in the XDA app or reddit app, and randomly it would scroll quickly upwards when I lift my fingers. I was thinking this was a hardware issue so I got a replacement device on the way. However, I saw this https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/7rczu2/scrolling_up_when_scrolling_down/.
Has anyone else been experiencing the same thing? I posted a vid and pic https://imgur.com/a/ny8fT. The second pic is touch input trace enabled in developer options, you can see there was a ghost long fast drag down to the bottom below the navbar.
Have been away from XDA for a while, please let me know if I am going against any rules about posting images hosted on other sites.
I wonder if something like this is what causes Twitter to randomly show me a different tweet when I tap on one. (maybe it's doing a phantom scroll briefly).

yep, thats happened to me a few times before as well. Not twitter specifically, but in reddit I would click on a post, and somehow I would end up on some random other post like 2 post below it, and if I hit back once, I get to the post I originally intended to click on instead of the subreddit list.
So there must be some sort of ghost touches/scrolls on finger release, causing the unintended post to be queued up just before the intended one.
I'm surprised there hasn't been more people bringing up this issue (assuming this is indeed a software 8.1 issue and not an isolated issue in the touch panel).
Reddit has done that to me too, come to think of it.
Agreed that it's surprising we aren't hearing more of this. Makes me wonder if I should do a warranty swap.

definitely doesnt sound like a hardware issue.. ive experienced this on more devices than the p2xl and more so on stock.. u also might get it when ur data lags..
on the available custom roms i cant say i remember the last time it occurred.. either way, it cant be that bad to even remotely consider replacing it

Oh really? Have you only experienced this on 8.1 only, or also 8.0? I had the pixel 2 xl back in October/November on 8.0 and didn't experience any of this. I just repurchased the 2 xl several days ago and immediately noticed it within the first few hours of playing around with it.
I think it definitely is a software bug, if not a hardware issue. The touch input trace shows a ghost drag of a perfectly straight line to the bottom of the touch panel with an incredibly high Yv, I got one as high as 179. Normal hard flick scrolling would top out at around 30 or 40, so definitely something fishy going on here, whether it's software or hardware.
It happens for me like between 5 and 10 times within half an hour to an hour, and they are usually annoying enough where I lose my place where I was scrolling.

prolly 8.1.. i got mine around december late nov. pretty sure its software related.. they had an issue with touch on the lockscreen right?
It seems like so many touch issues with 8.1 release. For this reason, I am still using 8.0.

Any update with the replacement device? I am having the same sporadic ghost scroll: I'll be scrolling down a page on reddit or slickdeals app (happens with other apps as well), and randomly it'll perform a strong up-scroll... I notice it more often when I lay in bed on my side, and have the screen orientation locked to portrait, resting the phone on the bed horizontally...

Replacement device has the same issue, so this is definitely a software bug. Hopefully Google fixes it soon in the next patch update.
Nexus 6P here. I started getting these ghost touches with the last security update. 8.1 is the problem, not a solution.
My mom has the same issue of touch on places she doesn't touch, on Pixel XL.
Could it be the same?
Here is a video about it that I took, just by scrolling in the settings screen:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JCsTuMDvMNHh0CO7sF7yoLFT26uNIhUp/
It's a bit hard to reproduce, but it occurs eventually.
Has anyone tried to use Android P, and see if it helps?
Anyway, I've reported about this here too:

Any fixes yet?
I know this is old, but I wanted to know if anyone found a fix for this. I eventually found an Oreo 8.1 Rom that I like and this is the only issue that's bothering me.
