...car?
After careful consideration, I have come to the conclusion that it is the Bugatti Veyron. With a proven top speed of 253.2 mph, it is the fastest production car ever built.
At top speed the tyres last a whole 15 minutes, but you don't really need to worry about that as the 100 litre fuel tank would be empty after 12.5 minutes.
It's got an 8-litre, W-16, quad-turbo'd engine.
So it must be the best right?
So, how come when I went to the dealer's last week to buy one, he said it wouldn't suit me? Maybe there's more to this buying a car business than I thought!
I went into it a bit more with him and it turns out that it costs nearly £800,000...and that's just for the car! There's a mechanic on-call 24-hours a day, ready to be flown to where the car is but I'm pretty sure you'd still have to pay parts and labour!!
And get this - there's only two seats! Totally unsuitable for me, my wife and my two (soon to be three!!) children.
OK, so not the best car in the world for me then.
I decided to go onto one of those car-thingy websites and use that search button gizmo - it turns out you can look for things that you like and use that information to decide what the best car is for yourself - imagine that!
I decided that before I dropped nearly a million pounds on my next car, that I should look into it a little bit. Using my new-found search skills, I discovered that the best car for me is what's called a people carrier - and they're nearly £775,000 cheaper than my first choice!! Wow! I could save myself a lot of money here!!!
So, I figured I could have a go of each one and find out which one suited me best - did you know that there's all sorts of different configurations of them? It really is amazing you know - under seat storage, built-in entertainment systems, loads of seats, removable seats, loads of boot space, more compact ones - the list of possible configurations is mind-boggling but did you know you can try them out? Test-drive them, they call it. It helps you decide even further which one is best for you.
So, I've decided I'm going to follow a few simple steps to deciding what car to buy next...
Look at what I want from a car
Look which available cars have a spec similar to what I'm looking for. If none are spot on, which is closest and can I add things to it later?
Try them all out.
Read some reviews.
Hopefully, following these simple steps, I can soon decide which car is best for me.
Oh, and lastly, I've just found out that before I can test drive any of the cars, I need to have insurance against accidents! If you can believe such a thing would happen.
I've done some more reading a discovered that the best insurance is available from the "HardSPL 2.10.olipro" insurance company ;-)

OK, OK, so I'm bored Bored of reading these threads that almost inevitably these days, descend into "I remember when people were nice to each other on this forum" kind of conversations before being locked.
What can I say, it's a quiet day ;-)
Smiffy.
But does the Bugatti come in a "Black" version?
It did, but the initial release had a couple of problems - when you started the engine, the gearbox would freeze and it wouldn't move.
Only the black ones had this problem apparently but that 24-hour on call skilled mechanic is working to resolve the issue and it should be done by this weekend.
Some people have resorted to running the standard coloured one for the time being.
Sinclair C5.
Also known as PocketPC 2002.
This should be a STICKY!

couldn't resist. Sorry
Light version?
Turns out as well that you can get a Car Light version too - something called a Motorbike? This has had all the extra bits taken out to make it much quicker.
My problem is that my Car Light (motorbike) version seems to be very slow. All I've done is install a few things - 2 extra seats, a ton and a half of bodywork, 2 more wheels, a sunroof, air con and two tonnes of junk in the boot. Why does my Car Light version now seem no quicker than the full version?
I don't see why someone spent hours converting the Car into a Light version when they've obviously done such a shoddy job. I expect the mechanic to look into it NOW and post a new version within the next 20 minutes that will give me all the speed of the Motorbike version but still able to carry all my family and their luggage on our holiday.
And then I'm not going to say "thanks" after they try!

I've wrapped my Blue Angel round a lamp-post because I was doing 533 (Mhz) on an open road with a 70Mhz speed limit.
Can I sue Wizcode for supplying me Pocket Hack Master? My insurance has gone through the roof now...
If I make my car CID, can I put an F-18 fighter jet engine on it.

Very funny Like it Lord
I really like some of the Lamborghini bits, so I started with a official shipped Murcielago and then grafted a few parts from a pre-release Veyron onto it - things like the alternator (heard it has more power for quicker startups). Then I grafted the electronics from the Veyron also (heard they have better reception on the radio and consumes less battery power when the car is not running) - I can get two WHOLE days without starting the car. Lastly, I took the dash out of the Veyron because it's user interface is way better. Turns out many of the mounts where in the same places, but I just hacked a few up to make it fit. Overall, it is awesome - great battery, great reception, really fast, quick to start and looks great. On the downside, sometimes it just stops while I am flying at 240 MPH and now I have voided the warranty - I am thinking of returning it to factory condition to see if I can get free service. ANYONE GOT A GUIDE??? THXXXXXXXXX.

It will if you rip the front from an 8-track cassette-deck and fit it with bluetooth-tac to the front of your Lambo, just above the badge.
It's a temp fix I know but until I package the OEM from Grundig into a .cab it'll have to do..
Do we have a verysion by Lucas yet?
Greetings,
You guys have been wonderful in getting to know my good ol' phone, my Wizard 8125 (which is now suffering from serious "seizures"-as in power off and on constantly). Now I have this Duo and frankly, even though it has many features that I wanted in a smartphone, the BASICS-can't hear people they sound muffled!!!
Now I ask that since some of your software should work on the Duo that you bring together all the people that are suffering from this and many other Duo issues. I will post here what I posted on Howard forums, my review on the Duo-got it last week and I am on the infamous 30-day trial from AT&T.
Don't underestimate this chick; I took apart and put together my Wizard four times; first two to give it a good cleanup b/c my daughter decided to dip it in OJ. The other two minor fixer-uppers and my phone worked fine for +2 yrs., till last month. I wanna learn more and more on software programming but have no formal education on either. I like to figure out stuff on my own.
So before I decide to keep it and tear it apart or return this phone for something better, I will be reading along the boards what in the world I can do to get this thing to work to my advantage.
Cheerio, Chica
My post from Howard's Forum Pt. 1
My review - I got it last week
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi, first post here...
Got the Duo after still mourning the 8125 that is booting off and on constantly. And it was about time I renewed anyways. Here are my thoughts, still not 100% sure that I am gonna keep this one (because of what I am gonna write below I am gonna try switch it for another Duo.
PROS:
1- Got the Duo for the dual-slider. Hard to dial when in a car and I don't use my Bluetooth often. Busy mom, it is hard.
2-LOVE how clear and crisp the screen is. Bright, vivid and good enough space.
3-I know there are some users and abusers out there but I do my best to keep it in "Lock" and inside my case. The less I deal with dirt, lint, scratches the better. I will buy a screen protector though.
4-Took me a couple of days of breaking the touch-screen habit; it's like going from automatic transmission to manual. It was not easy but not as complicated as I thought it was gonna be.
5-I like the speakerphone, simply turn the phone over and adjust the volume and I can hear fine.
6-Looking forward to really modify the phone to my liking, get into as many mobile forums as i can and customize it to my lifestyle. With that said...
CONS
1-WHAT IS WITH THE MUFFLED SOUND? I read this thread SHOCKED that no one mentioned it here...perhaps in another thread. Multiple forums users complain about the same problem. Stayed last night till almost 1am doing research and getting ready to alter the unit and lookup some software to fix this issue like a patch or something; well at pantechusa.com they have a radio patch (it will wipe out whatever the phone had and bring it up to default). I hoped really that the patch would work but it didn't. I knew that by having the same version of the software on my Duo it was a 75/25 chance that it was not gonna work and unfortunately I was right.
2-JUNKWARE - The Duo has lots of them and they are really useless and take up a lot of your memory if: a-you don't have a PDA plan, and b-you don't care for them. First things first, 95% of those need the plan in order for them to function and get the most out of the Duo. Since I don't have the PDA plan ($30/mo) then these have GOT to GO.
3-Cannot adjust/distribute memory on the unit - I can stop working programs fine, but there is an area where you can see both "drives" where it stores memory. I can't go in and just click and manage it further. It is frustrating because it would make the Duo faster.
4-I suffer from the Curse Of The Worst Ringtones. Whenever I get a cell the ringtones SUCK. Which makes you wonder who this Duo was designed for, or going for which type of person.
5-MicroSD card-I got a 4 Gig SDHC and forget it, it does not work. You can see the icon top bar that it has the micro card inserted, can't see it the rest of the Duo. Big disadvantage because: Micros are evolving to SDHC and have way more room; a Duo just can't be lagging behind with technology and get stuck with a regular Micro 2 Gig card (?!?!?!). Because there is wonderful people out there that can do lots of programming and hacking, I found the solution at xda-developers from reading in this forum. Thankfully the xda people have helped me with software for my Wizard and it seems I will use their software this time around too.
6-NO WI-FI, NOT FAIR! I have wireless at home and I used to go online, Media Player, and look online for my fav radio station (from another country), listen live and with headsets, go about my business. Can't do that with this unit.
7-Battery Life-This has been brought up multiple times and yes, the first couple of days it felt I was dealing with my HP camera which sucks batteries dead in one day. Now I can deal with charging it either daily or every other day. With the 8125 because of the type of battery you HAD to charge it daily or the cellphone would pay the consequences. On this one the Pantech people say let it drain then charge it; I am not comfortable with that scenario and I hope I don't ruin the battery because I charge it halfway or down to one bar.
To me the worst are in "bold", and I expect the Pantech people to come around and fix the muffled sound-which is worse if you talk with someone from cell-to-cell. Will take the unit today to AT&T and see if by getting another Duo the problem is fixed.
Interestingly though, I am willing to give the Duo a pass if I can program it, hack it, alter it every which way I want so I can have some fun with it!
Part 2-my post on HowardForums
Forgot to add to the cons...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On CONS, I forgot to add that in order to delete multiple files, I cannot select them with SHIFT-(Select) UP or DOWN. Do I have to delete each item one by one and not by multiple selection?
Does anybody know a way around that? thanks!
Went to AT&T today to figure out swapping the Duo...
...and I can do it only once. If I decide to try and have another Duo and the sound on that phone is just as bad as this one, I am stuck with it. If I switch for another unit, of course there is the restocking fee; now if I decide to go for a Tilt or a BlackJack II for example, I assume I'd have to pay extra for price difference.
FYI...Chica
This site is based on htc devices..... you probably have to look for other websites..... there is new new one not much up yet but here is the link.....
http://winmodevelopers.freeforums.org/
im gonna research this and create a forum for it at winmodevelopers.
youll have to be patient tho ive only got 8 users
i mean dont expect a reply straight away, but hopefully all pantech duo owners will see i can accomodate them.
thanks for the reference joel
Pantech Duo
Thanks!
I still have it, I am gonna tweak it and see if upgrading it and add/remove software it will perform better. Still have to keep the Bluetooth close, just in case a long phone call comes in.
Phone is like an ol' pair of jeans you don't wanna part with...
Hi, before I get anywhere else in this thread I must first say thank you. Thank you to all the developers and testers, all the time you spent trying to perfect such a tiny little device meant so much, especially towards the beginning when dealing with MotoBlur was a hassle on its own. You all are very great at what you do, especially in comparison to my own knowledge on android development, which is nothing.
Secondly, I wasn't sure where to put this thread, I just set it somewhere where I knew it would have the best chance at being seen. I apologize in advance if I put it in the wrong subforum.
Anywho, the whole reason I made this thread is simple: I upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, and am no longer in need of my Bravo.
I know I could use it as a backup phone, but to be honest I have an old Samsung Epix that I like to use off and on. Back to Bravo point, I feel like getting rid of it.
It's in fair shape, with no cracks or dead pixels, but with 2 years worth of scratches when using it without a screen protector. It even has a new battery I put in last month. I know it's not perfect, but I imagine someone on here has one in way worse shape, or needs a spare for development purposes.
So, my offer is this: anyone who is interested in this phone needs only to send me a PM with a very brief explanation as to why they'd like it. I'm not some dean of a university requiring a 12 point essay as to why you deserve it more, I'd just like to know what you'd benefit from it.
In return, whoever ends up getting it, I ship it to you, minus the usb cable and SD card. For free. In other words past the PM sent, I would require nothing more.
Is it wrong of me to set this up here? I dunno. I've just seen people discussing their phones in the past as having major cracks and such, or needing to buy another one, and decided giving it away was better than letting it sit and gather dust.
But anyway, if you stuck it out and read the whole thing, and you're interested, thanks for reading.

He was open to PM's on it for a week. I was the only one who replied so I was supposed to get it. He said I'd get in in a week or two -- that was almost 3 months ago and he hasn't logged onto XDA since August 16th. Hopefully nothing bad happened to him, but I'd have liked an "I'm sorry I can't send it PM" versus waiting on it for a month and a half and nothing.
//With his name being Hippyman, he could have easily been pulled over with a bag of "oregano". A buddy of mine got 3 months in county, 2 years probation, and drivers license revoked for 2 years because a state trooper in Arizona found a single weed seed on the floorboard (felony charge).
/csb time -- well, sort of
A few years back, I got an overnight job a Wal-Mart so I picked up my buddy and we went out driving all night (I was getting my body adjusted to overnight hours before the job started). I was stone cold sober, but my buddy had taken 2 xanax bars, a percocet, and a fifth of vodka (I despise pills and will never take them). A (county) cop pulled me over for going 55 in a 35 (I sped up to 55 because I SAW the speed limit sign that said 55 -- I ended up pulling over 3 ft from that sign). While he was searching my car (probable cause because my eyes were red from exhaustion) he found some tobacco on my floorboard from a cigar that was stepped on and I hadn't bothered to clean up (It was my first car and trashed to hell by this time so crap on the floor didn't matter to me by then; got a Mazda Miata a few weeks later).
The cop tried to give me a dui ticket for tobacco on the floor and having red eyes -- but it pissed him off that I could easily pass the sobriety tests - easily passed because I was SOBER.
The cop ended up giving me a speeding ticket cause he couldn't prove I was high (which I wasn't) and made my friend drive us out of that county -- remember that list of crap he had taken above, well, combine that with the fact that my friend didn't have a drivers license. He was totally f***ed up and nowhere in the state of mind to drive a car. I steered the car until we hit the county line a few miles later. Ended up having to pay $250 because I accelerated 100ft too soon.
If you ever go to Arkansas, stay away from Arkadelphia cause the cops their are complete morons. Also, if you ever do get pulled over, have a bag of "oregano", and get searched -- hide it in your damn left hand. I've been searched 3 times now with between a half ounce and two ounces and they have yet to find any of it......I have no idea how they missed the 2 oz in my hand, but they did....

Luckily, I've never been caught, except by my Dad when I was 17 (not smoking, just came home REALLLLLLY high). He ended up taking my stash, then 3 days later after he went through it, he came to me to get him some since it was way better than what he was getting at the time. When I told him it was only 25 a q, he was pissed cause he was having to pay 50 a q for the same. I was loling since connections were better than his.
The closest to actually being caught were the 2 times I was pulled over with quantity that I palmed in my left hand, and this time at school -- I was accused of drinking on campus that day; it was bs, I was drunk the previous day. Anyways, I had 2 packs of smokes and 2 separate halves on me -- one was regular, one was killer -- and on the way up to the office to get searched for the bottle I didn't have, I walked two steps behind the dean and started tossing my stash on top of lockers we went down the hall. Got searched, they found nothing, left the office, recovered everything, and went on with my day as usual. FYI, the one and only day I ever drunk at school was a free day at the end of the third quarter and all my tests were done -- the only thing on the agenda that day was watching movies or sleeping in class -- me and my buddy opted to get drunk. We'd have skipped that day, but if either of us would have one more day we'd be denied credit for the quarter. You could only miss 4 days every 18 weeks....
So there's actual rom crap here.....I flashed Quarx's CM10 Custom Kernel rom for the Defy Plus earlier (unmodified). Runs smooth and great, but the capactive buttons are way off and need to be fixed for normal use, camera didn't work (I expected that), capactive buttons also stay at 100% brightness. I think with a little bit of tweaking it could run great on the Bravo.

Good news on the rom!! and great story for a lazy sunday!
Haha great story. They never took my stash because I said it was all gone but I still haven't smoked it because the drug test me. Anyways, so does the Defy kernel make it a lot smoother than before or does it seem smoother or what?

it's smoother and snappier for a host of reasons - the main one being optimization of the interactive governor with power hal. using any other governor with these builds may cause problems. q is working on 3.0 kernel now

+1 to that. JB with custom kernel runs about as smooth as CM7 ports from back before Quarx supported the Bravo. The only real issue is the capacitive buttons. So far all I've done is grazed over the keylayout files, but they seemed to be the same as CM7 Defy keylayout. Enabling the virtual keys helps, but I'd like to figure out a real fix.
For the fun of it, I attempted to boot CM7 with the custom kernel, didn't work.
Have a working Defy CM7 1104 port (yesterday), bare bones works just fine, but one of PmR's tweaks killed the wifi . Having issues rebuilding framework-res.apk for the animations and some ICS theme elements. Still want to add in PDroid. I'll upload the bare bones rom later today if its wanted.
//Stash was taken cause I fell over the ottoman and it came out of my pocket. Only ever been tested for work; I've passed all but one, they called me for an interview WHILE I was smoking. Did every trick I knew and failed it. If I knew I wasn't going to be watched (first test at that place) I'd have brought clean pee with me. Medicinal MMJ on the ballot tomorrow, hopefully it'll pass since all my smoking anymore is for medicinal reasons -- a single bowl during the day (keeps me from being mean -- being an ass is a family trait of mine) and a bowl or two at night before bed to help me sleep -- once I turned 13 I started to get sleep issues to the point to where I would stay awake for 2-3 days at a time (insomnia sucks). I could take some happy pills and sleeping pills, but pills suck (most pill overdoses are from the chemical that holds the pill together, not the chemical that gets you high or whatever -- read about it, pills are evil). I didn't even take my pain pills from my last 2 breaks (left hand bone below pinky and tailbone) since they didn't even help.
i came back to see how my old phone's forum was doing and how much i miss that close relationship with the devs...and somewhere in that journey...

Interactive gov works great, but it does have one bug -- its hard-coded with a max rate of 1Ghz. If you set vsel4 higher than 1Ghz it will bootloop. Switching to boosted allowed me to boot with 300\600\900\1200. Not sure if Quarx knows or not...not many of us OC over 1Ghz. Interactive needs either some tweak settings in the bootmenu or a script that will take the max vsel rate and apply that to interactive's max rate settings....but I just finished syncing with the repos so its time to start a Bravo build .
Huh that's weird. I've been running 1.1 ghz at vsel4 with all the 2nd boot builds.

That is weird, gonna set it to interactive real quick --- booted up and working just fine....I OC'd to 3\6\9\12 and bootlooped 3 times in a row, set to 3\6\9\10 and booted, set to 3/6/9/12 and bootlooped, changed to boosted and booted just fine, just now changed back to interactive and it boots....sigh.
Without ever seeing the Fold in person and actually handling it I going to miss a few features based on the Specs I've read and videos I've watched. Here's my list.
Features I might miss:
1. Larger front facing screen...my caveat here is if the screen was larger it would probably be way too skinny anyway and would look really weird because of the dimensions..
2. Iris Scanner - love this feature on my N9. I know it's already gone on the S10's but it just works so well.
3. Update :MST for Samsung Pay is Probable for all phones. From what I've read, we're only getting NFC at least on AT&T but their website could be wrong since Samsung says it will have MST & AND NFC. That is always the beauty of Samsung Pay over various other Pay technologies. Worked just about everywhere for me.
4. MicroSD slot. OK, I might not use up the 512GB but do love the MicroSSD option which is great to easily move files and backups around., etc.
5. Waterproofing. I'm guessing that the Hinge is the problem and it would be difficult to waterproof the phone because of it.
6. The Fold would have been perfect if it had an S-Pen...with a selfie camera in the S-Pen (LOL!).
Features I'm not happy with (but I'll still live with):
1. That damn notch with a bezel on the big/inside screen. Almost made me bypass the pre-order. If that screen wasn't so large, I definitely would not have bought the phone. I swore I'd never buy a phone with a notch...Oh well.
2. (I know that this should probably be number one) The Crease! It remains to be seen but every video displays the crease in some manner. I find it funny that any article that I've read where Samsung has replied states that the crease is only seen in these **pre-production** models and the crease will not be seen on the final Fold versions. I'm not holding my breath on this one! So many reviewers stated that looking at the screen straight on and/or with a different wallpaper that the crease is barely visible or not visible at all. Now looking at the screen off to the side, the crease can be seen.
3. The batteries. They should have installed greater mAh capacity batteries. C'mon Samsung! You're using 2 separate batteries, give us more juice. You know we'll be on the 7.3" screen constantly!
4. I'm not really mad that they removed the headphone jack. I love options but 99% of the time I'm using BT headphones anyway.
5. The cameras. OK, we have LOTS of them! But for almost $2000.00 these cameras should have been even better than the S10/S10+'s cams. This Fold phone is Super Special and should have had a little bit more (can you say 10 X optical zoom? Might not have fit though).
6. I am still not fond of the Bixby functionality in comparison to Google Assistant. The Bixby routines are probably the best part of Bixby. I'll probably bypass Bixby.
7. Bixby button also being the fingerprint scanner. I'll lose my mind if I continually activate the Bixby button instead of unlocking my phone. That would make me crazy so I would use other software to disable Bixby altogether.
8. Many early articles on the Fold stated that Samsung would give us a free year of Samsung Premium Care+. I'm hoping that when I receive the Fold, I'll be surprised and find documentation to sign up for our free year. I'm probably dreaming...
9. They should have offered more for Trade-ins. Only up to $300.00 where it was $550.00 for the S10 possible trade-in values. (I'm kind of glad though since I may just need to keep my Note 9 around for awhile).
Unknowns:
1. It remains to be seen if the developers will build apps to work with continuity and sizing, etc. If that isn't done then we might own a $2000.00 boring paperweight. I need my Kustom suite of Apps and if they don't work, the Fold will be almost useless to me).
2. Will the Fold just be too long to easily fit in my pocket. I never put any phones in a back pocket but occasionally put in front pocket. Most of the time it's in a zippered pocket in a jacket or purse or backpack or small waist pack. I'm really not too worried..yet! Hahaha!
3. We definitely need a variety of cases. I'm sure they'll come. The interest in the Fold has seemingly surpassed Samsung's expectations. Samsung kept the final Fold design under wraps so long that I think that's one of the reasons the case makers haven't delivered yet (or they thought that the Fold wouldn't have much interest). I need a super protective Clear Case. I want to show off that Martian green with Gold Hinge!! (and I want to look at it too).
Final observations:
With all of the unknowns and possible negatives, don't get me wrong. I want the Fold!
I love being an early adopter and have saved up for this thing. I've been following Samsung over the years and drooling at all of their foldable prototypes.
With Samsung's track record on gorgeous displays, I know I'll love the tablet screen. I think that the small front screen is not a deal breaker because I liken it to my Lock/AOD screen where I glance at information then move on to the larger screen. It will be just one more step to fully open the Fold. Not inconvenient when you know what's coming! A huge, beautiful screen.
The COOL factor for the Fold is priceless! I am so anxious to get it and I know the feeling will continue as others spot the phone and want to check it out.
If the Fold ends up being a fantastic phone for me, then I'll be selling off a few other Tablets I have as well as my N9.
This is going to be Big! Cannot wait to play!

Based off of the limited amount of people that will buy and have this device probably not, but I could be wrong ?
I'll miss the spen even though I don't use it that often, but the main thing I'll miss about that functionality is being able to capture video as an animated gif (I don't know if this exists on the S series as I've only used Notes as far as Samsung's go). I'll probably use my old Wacom dumb capacitive stylus that's been sitting a drawer for a few years for the simple diagrams I draw in meetings using One note. It did the trick when I used to use an iPad all of the time.
The small screen might get irritating if I want to tap out a message as I already find it difficult using something as small as an iPhone SE. Although with keyboard customisation maybe bigger keys can make that easier.
The notch doesn't really bother me. A hole punch would be equally as distracting as a notch to me on a regular phone, but in a screen that big I can't see it being a problem.
I'm definitely changing the scaling and fitting more on that display. Apparently that's how you get many apps to use tablet mode rather than a big phone layout, so I'll be really happy if that's actually true. But I'd set my mind on getting one even before I heard about that so I won't mind if it doesn't work on everything.
I haven't seen whether Dex is available in tablet mode as it is on the larger Samsung tablets. That would be a killer app for me. I know we can use up to 3 apps, but it's not the same as having a few windows layered and tapping between them, especially if you're copying and pasting between a few documents and you want that bigger layout on each to see text placement properly. Maybe someone will manage to extract and develop an apk that doesn't require root for that.
With regards to the above, I used to have a Toshiba PDA that ran Windows Mobile and with it's 800x600 display you could change the screen scaling and achieve a similar effect. It was pretty great.
The thing I'm mainly looking forward to is reducing my travel kit from a phone, tablet, and kindle to just one device. Ok maybe not just one device, I'll have room for my Switch more often now. Airport security love giving my bags an extra search due to all of the gadgets I end up carrying, and hopefully this will mean I just sail through like most other people.
And while it may be an elitist prick move, I want people to notice it. Most friends and colleagues know I'm a tech geek, but nobody notices the tech anymore, as all of the phones and tablets look so similar. They don't realise it's something new or cool and don't ask. Plus, nowadays all it involves is showing off something a bit faster with more storage and a better camera. Nothing has done anything new for years now. This brings back that wow factor when new phones had something brand new and sparks conversation about the future again.
The US devices will have locked bootloaders just like the other US Samsung devices. Unless I've missed it there is no word on international devices yet. If you're like me and root is a necessity you might want to consider waiting until the situation is sorted out.
Edit... One other thing I ran into today in regards to a potential S-pen is that a reviewer was opining the screen was too soft to support writing. That was a stated opinion not a fact from Samsung. So a guess but not an unreasonable one; It isn't hard to imagine the screen not being able to hold up to a pen.

The specs on Samsung.com for the Fold only show NFC for Samsung Pay. They did the same thing on the Galaxy Watches.

Doubtful on AT&T or T-MO devices... You know it's always that locked bootloader thing in US phones.

Looks like we'll still be able to create a gif from a video (you could still have done it on the S9's too). Here's a tutorial for the S10's so I'm sure the Fold will be able to make one too:

Also, it is Dex ready/capable.
Great points you've made in your response! Thx!

This would be great! I'm wondering if it's for Non US Folds. I'm hoping it's for everyone. I wish I had the eSim/nano sim option but not with my carrier (AT&T).
MST not listed in their specs but hopefully it's just incorrect. Thank you for the clarification.

I'm out of here. I'm a rooter and right now I'm now feeling the love with dropping 2k on this device and then killing the warranty. This isn't a complaint per se, it's just not the right tree to be sniffing around for those like me that will most def flog the thing. I do hope all who buy in enjoy the bejesus out of themselves. Good luck gents.

So coming from a Pixel 3xl and then the Pixel xl and then before that the Nexus 6 and then before that every moto phone all the way down to the og droid. Where does Google get off sending out a phone to the public that doesn't work. I've had this piece of junk now for 2 weeks and it is garbage. 1st thing right out of the gates the fingerprint scanner doesn't work but may maybe 1 in 5 trys. Why would they move it to the front. Who decided that was better. Cause it isn't. The fingerprint scanner sensors whatever they are on my previous two pixels worked fine once in awhile they didn't work they just worked this one just doesn't work. It's the most basic form of the phone it's the first thing you do when you turn the phone on. It's the first thing you do when you pick up the phone and to open it with your finger you would think that they would at the very least have that part right. Then 5G I don't know about where you are I live in Southern California, Ventura county which is just North of Los Angeles county. In every instance that I've used 5G to have 5G on my phone and I'm trying to do something on internet it is slower than 3G it's like we've taken two steps back. I have to wonder if it's like this for everybody I mean all the phones all the manufacturers I got a feeling this 5G wasn't ready yet and they just pushed it out anyway cuz they had to have the next good best thing but then work though it doesn't work. Why would Google push out a phone that just didn't work I thought the whole point of the pixel experience was that everything just worked. It didn't have to have the best specs they didn't have to have the greatest screen or the most memory. But they worked well without all those specs and screens. They worked and worked well cause they were well put together on proven hardware. Then Google brought in their software unmolested. Completely vanilla and the phone's working they worked better than the other phones that had all those high specs and lots of memories high refresh rate screens. The original Pixel XL and the Pixel 3XL they worked ? I'm starting to think that that was in spite of Google. Whoever ran their phone department put one past the bosses there and sent out some phones that just actually worked. My brand new Pro pixel 6 it doesn't work and I'm writing this on my pixel 3 xl you know why ? Cuz I'm done with it. After 2 weeks I put it in the drawer I'm done with it and it will stay there until there is some kind of major update they going to fix everything. I want nothing to do with that piece of junk. I've had my pixel 6 Pro since launch!! And yes I do agree with the finger print scanner. Had my share of disappoints with it but update after update it just get better... I'm on custom ROM my preference.. it's actually closer to stock with minimal tweaks added.. Also note I've had all the pixel including the nexus line and by far this is the best pixel I've used... And the 5 g problems none here I live in Canada Telus network.. everyone has their gripe!! Best thing just return it
TLDR
Bro... Samurai? You talking the Droidrzr forum that I WAS A PART OF? Dude...that was like 10 years ago...let it die...the thing is they were INNOVATIVE back then, they were creating new things that have never been tried before, and pumping out things that "could" work. We are now at the point where we just want a good screen, long lasting battery and a great camera. All of which the Pixel 6 Pro do NOT do
As the owner of the pixel 6 pro, from a LAUNCH DAY T-Mobile oneplus 6T, I am not going to lie. The 6T was faster after 3 years. I just couldn't stand the camera anymore. But my SERVICE on that phone was great. And the battery life I would squeeze 10+ hours SOT like I do basically every phone that I have anymore.
For overclocking, you realize we're pushing over 2GHZ right? Overclockimg back theb was taking an 800mhz chip and pushing it to 1Ghz. That was MONUMENTAL for such a small chip back then. But you need to google a few things before you rage over some abilities. The CPUS back then were 45+nm small!!. That's effing TINY compared to a human hair of 80,000nm! But we are at 5nm in THIS phone. That's 9 times smaller. There's only so much heat you can push through a chip, but we're also running wayyyy more complex screens, GPU's, GPS, bluetooth, everything. It's all done on one tiny chip. So there's going to be some give and take.
As for the fingerprint scanner, you gotta put the same finger in the phone at least twice and move it around, slight movements alllll around the finger and you will have a perfect scanner. Mine only fails if it is laying on the table and I try to unlock it without picking it up. But in hand? Every. Time. It works. Also? Wash your hands.
And for 5G? Fam...I get wicked stupid fast speed...the problem is if you are in an area that is congested...which it totally sounds like you are, your speeds are going to be horrific. Terrible radio aside, this is just the gamble you're in and you're losing. I recommend just switching it to 4G anyways since battery life increases by a literal hour or two just by that move andddd 4G travels further.
And did you mean "Cupcake"? Wth is cheesecake? I have been with android since Froyo, and don't remember cheesecake I could be wrong.
But my thing is reality vs. expectations piss even ME off at times, and usually it's like,"Okay...my bad...I figured for $1200 this phone would be great."
My biggest disappointment? The 50MP sensor. It's just 12mp. Just like everyyyyy other pixel. My 3a XL takes better pictures than the 6 pro. Fight me. It does. But I gave it to my mom. Are the 6 pro pictures bad? Not really. But it's not as capable as they touted it to be. And considering MY PHONE overheats anytime I try to use it really blows. But because my phone decided to crack itself in the heat one day google wants me to pay for the screen to fix their hardware BS which I refuse for the 4th time.
And Samsungs are not plastic anymore my dude...you need to get in your time machine...my girlfriend's S21 Ultra is wayyyyyy more premium feeling compared to my 6 Pro hand in hand. A better phone all around. It is faster, charges faster, takes better pictures, wayyy better video, last longer SOT, doesn't EVER get hot, charges STUPID. QUICK. He phone was at 20% and she has it capped st 85 for longevity but we started using the "fast charge" with my Easeus 100 watt cables and charger? Bro...her phone charges in 20 minutes. If that. We were BLOWN. AWAY. and it DOES NOT GET HOT. So I recommend trying then again and not letting past experiences from 7+ years ago fool you...
But yes, you're correct in some ways, they went backwards with "quality of feel" but you did get what you paid for...a phone that is overpowered with a slightly underpowered chip. But without proper thermal handover, an "overclock" would just throttle and ruin the experience more...
Sorry fam.
Oh yeah, the old Bionic days...that phone was a little tank! And then you get a forum like droidrzr where the devs and owners were all easily accessible and incredibly helpful and yeah we had a lot of fun there. The landscape has changed a lot since then (like Gytole said), and imho I think the rom scene took the worst hit when Google shut down G+. G+ was the one stop shop for roms and their devs, and when they shut G+ down everyone just kind of scattered like ants on a destroyed anthill although most of them came here. But yeah, although I am disappointed with my P6P I won't rage about how things have gotten worse because, hey, at least Google hasn't gone the Apple route and completely locked down their phones and ecosystem (yet lol) and they still do offer AOSP and we still have awesome devs around who are willing to use their time to give us our custom rom fix.
Thread cleaned!
Greetings to all. Just dropped in for a little cleanup. Please do not forget about XDA Rules regarding member conduct. Whether Google stinks or not is irrelevant, how you treat each other on the other hand, definitely is! So let's keep things polite and civil shall we.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My fingerprint scanner is about 98% accurate these days, it is very rare for it not to unlock my Pixel 6 Pro on the first attempt. that said i'd still prefer a capacitive on in the rear.

Funny you say that. It takes 1-5 times for the Fingerprint scanner to unlock the phone, but put it in you cargo pants pocket and it will open half your apps, turn Bluetooth off, DND on, and call 3 different people on your contacts list

5G is probably the carrier. You said VZW?? I had VZW, but the 5G was crap as well as the insane billing. I have T-Mobile and my 5G is fast but yeah, the radios in the P6 have been criticized from Day 1

But here's the deal there's nothing else out there unless you want Samsung and I dont. I've had a plastic Samsung before I was not impressed I sent that back after about 2 weeks as well. I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place what happened to the good old days of Motorola and HTC when the phone companies were competing against each other to actually put out good product and we'd have root for these phones before even they came out. Before they even hit the streets.

Man, I can't read that poop. Ever heard of paragraphs?
Want your phone to work well? Ditch the factory OS builds and install graphene.
Set it to enable fingerprint security, but NOT fingerprint UNLOCK.
You should never use biometric unlock because it isn't knowledge based and therefore not protected by your right aginst self incrimination.
Holy wall of text Batman!
Fingerprint sensor was slow on mine, but the first update I got in April, corrected that.
I totally agreed with your answer. My Problem is Solved
Have a nice day to all

Cheesecake was a tool they used to go after the Motorola servers to pull down the latest ROM every night. Motorola was rewriting the ROM for Verizon every single day and they used cheesecake to pull those rewritten ROMs off of the Motorola servers that were used to send it out to the wild on thier test phones. Something like that. That's how we had it. If you were part of it you would have remembered that. It ended on Droid razr.com. It all
started on the droidforms.net and it went to Razrforums afterwards after we got kicked off Droid forums. I was talking about the overclocking only because it was something we were doing then I'm not saying we need to do it now. My whole point about bringing up those times was because it was so much fun. Everyday was something new and the drama and then The politics of it. We had daily reports from livingchaos who had like an insider inside Motorola of it was just it was all fun. I don't know how much a part of it you were, but I was right in the middle of it. I was one of reasons it all got switched from one form to the next. I had a fight with a guy named foxcat He was a moderator on Droid forms. He said something to me. Samurai thought he said it to him and it all blew up. The next day, the whole thing that moved to Droid razr forms. Anyhow, sorry if I perturbed anybody with my rant. My my ill written rant next time I just won't..
Welcome to the 36% (https://tradingplatforms.com/blog/2...s-with-36-planning-to-switch-to-other-brands/)
I made it 4 months between January and May before I got fed up and gave my phone away. I went back to my pixel 3 xl. Just like you and I'm currectly in the market for a non-pixel phone. They have completely ruined the brand for me.
My previous phone was the nexus 6 and I still have it. I turned it on a week ago and it is so buttery smooth compared to even my pixel 3 with whatever ROM I put on it. If it wasn't for the old battery and camera I would love to switch back. It has Android 11 on it thanks to the modding community. It might support later versions but I haven't tinkered with it much lately. I'm getting off track.
I say I'm going to leave the brand but it is tough. It's all the small things that you get from Google that I'm afraid I'm going to miss. The notification of what song is playing, call screening, and call hold are all features I use regularly.
I've ordered a new phone and I'm going to test the waters. See what it is like outside of the Google ecosystem. I'm afraid but what choice has Google given me. I either try an alternatives or get stuck with an aging phone.

Android 12 works well on the Nexus 6, but anything close to that recent is pretty slow on it. Battery is not hard to swap on it since unlike newer phones where you have to probably destroy the display to open up, you can just peel the back cover off of it.

I've ordered a new phone and I'm going to test the waters. See what it is like outside of the Google ecosystem. I'm afraid but what choice has Google given me. I either try an alternatives or get stuck with an aging phone.

Hey I had the Nexus 6 too and loved that phone. It's been downhill since. Goodluck on your venture. I hope you find a phone that suits your needs. If you do come back here and tell us about it. I'm nearly desperate at this point....goodluck !!!

When I had my Nexus 6, (Sitting in the drawer next to me), the last phone I could easily root and modify, a co-worker seeing it told me my phone was like a Muscle Car, and she was right. It was.
