Hello there people! I currently own a M8 obviously. I just recently ran in to a huge problem it seems? Like, i wanted to factory reset my phone right. At first what i did was just wipe the dalvik cache, data and system. Maybe it wasnt the greatest idea, reason to why it went **** but after that it got stuck on the HTC Logo screen and thats all. I restarted it but didnt work. I did a full factory reset but it still didnt help. And because of the full reset i cannot reinstall Revolution HD 8.1. Inside the recovery im trying to mount so i can put the revolution HD rar file but it doesnt let me because it doesnt recognize it as a storage device. It recognizes it as a CD Drive for some reason? May be mistaken because it might just be my DVD drive but it didnt appear untill i tried to mount the phone. Nonetheless, the only option i have to mount with the phone is System, Cache, Data. I have no micro SD card but i think i got one lying around and ill try getting that. And theres one last option called USB OTG but i cannot click it even through using usb. The recovery i have is called Team Win Recovery Project version 2.7.0.2. Everything else before this went 100% fine. No issues at all.
Any clues guys? Appriciate all the help i can get!
EDIT: Even with a micro SD card it refuses to mount. Looks im screwed here lmao.
Well, it won't boot as you have formatted system partition.
There is a way to copy files to your phone.
Go into recovery, connect your phone to pc and then use command like this :
Adb push file.zip /sdcard/file.zip
Sent from Xperia Z1, or maybe not anymore

So today i rooted my desire, and tried installing the Sense 2.2 HD.
The installation failed and now i cant boot up, get stuck at the white screen with HTC logo. Connected SD card through USB in recovery mode, and formated it multiple times successful into all kinds of formats (fat16, 32, ext2, 3) in both windows and ubuntu.
Now when i try to run the update.zip or any rom file from recovery i get the following error
E:Cant mount /sdcard
(No such file or directory)
or some other problem
Any help would be nice
Moved to Q&A.
Take a look HERE. Hopefully this should sort you out.
I've did a wipe data/factory reset, is it still rooted after that?
Cant get this crap to work. It boots straight into Fastboot usb now. But it wont find the sd card. Its the stock sd with 4 gig. My pc finds it and it works
How do i get my phone to recognize the sd card?
Yes you should still be rooted, a wipe/factory reset won't unroot your handset.
All you need to do is the fastboot command to get your SD card recognised again. If this doesn't help, I'd try a new or different card.
Wow took awhile. Downloaded an RUU and went into fastboot and updated.
All sorted then?
OK, I was on CM rom and was getting ready to flash over to Fresh rom. I went to clockwork and wiped cache and dalvik. Long story short it didn't work, kept getting reboots cause of clockwork recovery not wiping dalvik correctly....blah blah blah. I flashed back to CM rom, went into root explorer and mount r/w, went to the dalvik-cache folder and deleted it. This worked in the past. Problem began here. I went to the sd card and deleted that dalvik-cache folder. I went back to flash the Fresh nand. Now, it reboots into the rom, but my usb is not recognized and the sd card won't mount. This creates a reboot of the OS in about 30 seconds (I suppose cause it is looking for the data from the sd card and its not mounted so it reboots). I have tried wiping numerous times, I tried going to recovery and "clear storage", I tried factory reset. Nothing works. I still reboot to the Fresh rom now and it just reboots time after time within about 30 seconds of unlocking the home screen. What do I do to fix this? There is a fix out there for sd card mounting and usb through adb and sdk tools. I can't figure it out. First off, there isn't a driver to recognize my phone when I connect it. HELP!!!!!
I tried terminal emulator but my phone doesn't stay booted for long enough to get all the adb commands in there before it reboots. So this rules out the USB fix. Without the USB connecting I can't connect to it to fix the SD card. Catch twenty two. HELP!!!!!
You might wanna try this link Sounds like it may help.
edit: try flashing Calks format all and a different rom
Thanks for the reply. After working for hours on this, I just got it back!!!! Although, I still wasn't able to go to my Fresh rom backup, I was able to go back to my CM backup. I'll figure that out later. For now, I fixed it with the sd card mount and usb adb fix that was posted here on xda. That one fix actually fixed both issues. I finally got adb to load properly after more than a dozen installs and uninstalls. Then I ran flashboot usb from recovery. Well, here is the link to the fix I used. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695243 Thank you to all. Too happy. I even took my phone to a sprint repair store. Needless to say they knew it was rooted when it booted and said...Fresssssshhhhhhhh! LOL They were cool with it. The guy even told me his was rooted and he runs Virus roms. LMAO. He said if I could flash a stock rom back on they would fix it for 35 bucks. Hell, if I could have flashed a stock rom I wouldn't have been there. Anyway, it's all good now.
Oops. I hadn'nt checked your link. It was the same one I posted and used for the fix that worked for me.
always flashed and never had a problem, hadnt done ot for a few months so today decided to flash -[ROM][Jun 22]RCMix3D KINGDOM v1.7 Evolutionary Sense! THE ORIGINAL SENSE 3.0 DHD. when i rebooted it was stuck on the boot screen forever, even tried clearing all the data and cache and dalveks cache, still did the same, so i followd a guide to formatting the sd card now its empty :/ which i guess would happen, but i dont have a card reader, is there a way to get into my sd card from my pc with the lead connected and could someone guide me on how to get the rom on there, really dont fancy a bricked phone, im pretty amateur at this, im ok with flashing and stuff but all this artsy stuff goes over my head, guess thats what i get for rooting anyway, im guessing i need to format properly, if someone could tell me how and that i need to access my sd card to put a rom on it so i can finally flash corrupt free, can someone tell me how, or is my phone bricked.
Boot into recovery, plug phone into PC, head to "mounts and storage" in recovery, select "Mount USB".
Copy over your new ROM, wipe & flash. Easy.
thanks, was looking for something like that, couldnt find it, copying over a rom now, did i do the right thing by choosing size 512 then swap 0 ? hopefully its all rectified now and will boot without looping ! will report back, thanks for the instant reply
and we have success thankyou
Hey all,
Recently I tried to format my sd card from my phone to create extra space, as it was getting clogged up. I pressed unmount, expecting to mount it again as the format option was greyed out. However, I was unable to get it mounted again (ie my phone no longer recognises a sd card is inserted).
I tried to perform a factory rest to get my phone back to the settings it should have once had. However it didn't manage to do this properly and now its stuck at the htc logo screen. Formating or partitioning the sd card didnt do a thing.
I can get into the bootloader, and it was rooted beforehand. I was running the official Miui ROM. Now I am unable to start my phone normally, nor get into access my sd card.
Unfortunetly, I have had my phone for quiet a long time now so I doubt the warranty is still valid. I need help urgently.
Thanks in advance.
Try clearing cache and data and then install a new rom for example Jellytime r26.2.
if it dont work the first time try one more time. I had the same issue ones and had to install the rom twice before it worked.

Are you S-OFF? Can you get into recovery? through the bootloader? If so, just flash a new ROM through recovery.
How did you try to do a factory reset? If you can get into the bootloader, go to recovery if you have it. Then see if the sdcard is being recognized or not. If it is getting recognized, put the zip of any ROM on it and flash it after wiping like the guy above me said.
Post what your bootloader screen says here. Your phone is far from being bricked as far as I know.
RESOLVED
I've managed to resolve this issue. For the benefit of others I will explain what I did.
1)I went into fastboot mode and connected my phone to my pc (running windows 7). Using cmd I reflashed the recovery image.
2)Went into recovery and installed a custom ROM.
I hope this helps you as it really saved my life.
P.S Cheers for all the help guys, you've been amazing!

I formated and wiped all the data i could from the phone itself and the from recovery. Lucky you were right about me being far away from bricking it completely.
Since I firstly unmounted my sd card from my phone settings, it didnt get recognised at all. I couldnt mount it again. So i formatted it with windows, then in recovery made a backup image despite the phone being stuck in bootloop. That allowed me to finally access my sd card for some reason.
Then as you all suggested, i just needed to reflash everything, including recovery using fastboot.
Bit of a strange scenario really
Lesson learned ? :
1.) If youre going to start from scratch then start in Recovery;
2.) wipe all partitions (twice)
3.) enable USB drive and transfer new ROM to SD Root
4.) flash new ROM

hi lachy92, by formatted all the data, you mean wipe data/factory reset in the recovery? coz i have same problem with you, i tried to install new rom from the recovery, but the recovery always shows cant open sd card, installation aborted, can you help me pliz
So Jelly Bean 4.2 came out and I was curious so in class today I downloaded http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737849
correct me if I'm wrong but that's the correct ROM I should download for the GSM/HSPDA Gnex. Anyways it successfully downloads and I attempt to flash it and when I did it got stuck on the Google screen. So what I did is battery reset and flash my original JB rom I still had on the memory and re-downloaded JB 4.2 thinking it might have been a corrupted download. This time around it actually gets to booting but it bugs up on the lock screen and is on a boot loop. So what I did now is completely cleared everything from CWM, the cache, partition, dalvik, and I even formatted everything as well. Not knowing what I was doing I guess the formatting formatted my SD card so it cleared everything. I said OK, CWM has a USB mounting system I'll just hook up to my PC and put in a rom and flash it. But the problem is it's not detecting my phone, I press mount SD Card and nothing shows up on my computer. I'm confident I have the drivers installed, what else could be the problem?
tl;dr CWM mounting doesn't work with PC and I can't boot into my ROM.

man is simple to repair it !go in fastboot mode connect to your pc and open gnex toolkit reflash 4.1.2 and thats all
Ouch... You have two choices. You can Adb push xxx /sdcard or fastboot the device... I dont think mounting works in CWR on the Gnex

This is exactly right. Mounting does not give you usb mounting but makes the partition accessible from adb.

It doesn't. No need for fastboot, reboot to recovery, adb push file name.file-extension /data/media/.

Fixed it, flashed the phone to stock with tool kit then start everything over from scratch. Didn't take to long actually.
