Glad you fixed it. I have stock ROM rooted, not a custom ROM. It runs well after debloating.

Dont know what happened but when i flashed to stock it had wanam xposed, xposed installer, and a few other things. I think i flashed a pre rooted stock rom through odin. Gonna have to try a stock debloat cause pimpdroid is not happening at all. A lot of fcs

I just debloated the stock ROM using Titanium Backup. Not sure if there is a pure debloated stock ROM out there...there are some that are close but have been modded in 1 way or another.

BTW - Exposed Installer and Wanam Exposed work well with stock ROM. Also - Gravity Box. I have centered and changed my clock color, added 4 way reboot, added battery % only (no icon), and added screenshot to the power menu.

I am using twrp and trying to install various custom roms, and all i get is the samsung note 3 splash screen sitting there for many minutes with no progress to anything after that.
im not new to flashing by any means, going back to the G1 days...but for some reason I am having a problem getting roms to load.
i tried Jedi 5 and infamous and both said installed but see above for what i really ended up with.
i did install pac light rom, and that installed but i did not like it.
i did a restore of stock rom, and that installed just fine.
am i missing something? thanks.

Once you go to 4.4 you can't go back. To upgrade you need to Odin back to stock then upgrade to stock 4.4 then redo the root. Look at top post and read. The dragon guy explains it better

New to this phone and I am running 4.1.2 there is a system update a 4.3 that's already downloaded and ready to install but I wanted to make sure the update didn't install any new locks on my phone before I accept. I plan on rooting soon.
Thanks
Rich
U get knox but there are ways to still root with knox so go ahead update
High Definition Note II
Uuum hold on. If you plan to root your phone there is no point in allowing the OTA which does install KNOX. Root now and save that extra trouble.

If the poster wants to install 4.3, then accept the update, root, then flash your 4.3 rom.. This way you won't have all those reboot, lock up issues, that people keep on having.. Plus most devs do not have knox filex in their roms.. And you won't have to flash the wifi fix..
I Would Accept It.

Thank you! You're the first to shed some light on this for me. To get back to stock using the toolkit, would I need to first flash stock recovery, then Stock Firmware, then bone stock MC2? Afterwards boot in, accept the update, then re-root using the toolkit.

I'm wondering the same thing. But if we root then accept the OTA won't that enable the knox counter? So that if we now, "flash away".... won't every flash be counted?
Shouldn't we root, then install the custom roms without the knox? Or do the custom roms also include the knox counter tripping mechanism?
I would like to know how this works also.
Thanks.
I just recently came from 4.1.2 rooted running a deoxided stock rom. I didn't do the OTA update to 4.3. I used the TeamRejects Deoxidexed rooted deknoxed stock rom, the updated MK4 modem, and the WiFi fix. It took about 15-20 minutes to get everything done. I needed to download Odin too for WiFi fix. I didn't run the WiFi fix till I knew there was an issue.
Not much of complaint, but I wish there was a kernel like Perseus for TouchWix based roms. The only one I found was Devil Kernel, but for whatever reason, wasn't stable with TeamReject's ROM. I didn't really care for his custom Kernel ajdustment manager and STweaks didn't work with it at all. Ideally, I prefer a stock rooted deknoxed deoxidized bare bones rom (just phone, contacts, google play) so I have a working phone and can access Google Play so I can install the apps I prefer. The closest I found was Classic Rom but it freezes on initial rom load; Plus, I'm not a fan of the colors and the few things he choose to include.
Stock 4.3 Deodexed, deknoxed, Rooted Rom Available?

Sorry for not getting back sooner. I have been busy with work, and family things.Use billards return to full stock with counter reset. It installs everything including recovery, boot loader, firemware etc... Then set up your phone, when prompt accept the ota update.. Once done retoot, and flash what ever 4.3 rom you want.. The knox counter will still be there, but if you need a trip back to Sprint, go back to Full MC2 stock, knox counter will no longer be there.. Most 4.3 room do not include the Knox files so no worries there.

Sounds like it. The odd part, I have been able to flash Reject's stock deoxidezed deknoxed rom with no problem. I tried to flash Classic 3, but it froze on Classic's initial loading page (the one after the Samsung boot loader). I had issues another rom, but turned out it was for the international model; I wasn't paying attention where I was in the forums.
If you do what I did, you'll need to flash modem update using Odin on the PC. So, you may need to download Odin.

Depending on what you like to do, you may find 4.3 MK4 more limiting, espcially on the TouchWiz side. AOSP probably more mod friendly at this point. From what I've been able to find, there is only one custom kernal for 4.3 TouchWiz which is Devil's Kernal. It's solid, but my phone was unstable. Not sure if the phone since I may have taken out something it used when I was trying to debloat the phone. Didn't care for his Kernel Tweak manager. Neither the stock or devil's kernal supports Stweaks. Neither I could figure out how to change the boat loading animation.
I have nothing against AOSP projects. I like them. But as far as I know, none support the Spen, which I like to use with web browsers. Don't use the Samnsung Spen apps. Just wasn't that impressed with them, but I see how they can be useful. Although, SketchPro is really nice with it. I just find TouchWiz is more than sufficient for my needs and stock isn't as quirky.
I have a ZL c6506 and want a custom rom that comes closest to the stock rom.
My question is if there are any out there or not.
Thanks.

Curious, why would you need an "almost-stock" custom ROM? My suggestion would be to use full stock, root it, debloat manually, and tweak with Xposed (that's what I do, anyway). This will be as close to stock as it can get, while still being customized to your liking, beyond just running a 3rd-party launcher...

In order to root 5.0.2 on zl I need to flash jb rom and root that then go back upto lp. But the stock rom will override the root beating the whole purpose.
My 'client' wants it stock rom so any custom rom is not an option that's why I'm asking for custom rom closest to stock.
thanks

Ah, OK. Yeah, rooting LP on ZL is kinda pain in the rear. You could use KingRoot, and then "convert" to SuperSU, but it seems to be hit and miss, based on what I read. Personally, I created a flashable pre-rooted stock 5.0.2 using PRFC, and just flashed it from recovery, being on rooted stock KK (no need to go to JB). Worked perfectly.
However, I am still not clear on how you are going to flash the "almost-stock" custom ROM, anyway... You won't find an FTF file for this kind of ROM, and to use a flashable zip, you have to be rooted and running a custom recovery to begin with (regardless of the OS version). I don't see how that would be different from what I am suggesting (using PRFC to make a pre-rooted flashable stock)... I think in your case, if the ultimate goal is to have rooted stock, this would be the best solution.

I didn't upload my ROM anywhere... I can possibly put it on Mega, but I am not sure what phone models you have (I am using C6506). I would suggest you put it together yourself - just use the PRFC software and instructions from this thread. You will need the original FTF file from Sony (if you don't have it, use XperiFirm to download it). I didn't include the recovery (XZDR), and flashed it separately afterwards. But it looks like with the latest XZDR release it works, and it can be included in the ROM zip. Either way, try it out, it worked for me.
I'm just taking my first steps with my brandnew SM-T805.
I managed to get root, I installed a custom recovery and everything runs pretty promising.
Now I have still the problem that not every app can be run in the side by side multi window mode. I read that this can be fixed with the xposed framework.
So for Xposed it seems that I need to have a Deodexed ROM.
My stock rom seems to be Odexed.
How can I convert or get a Deodexed one?
I'd prefere to use a stock rom for now, just to get no troubles with LTE and so on... Just stock, with root and deodexed with xposed.
Hope someone can help...
I'd highly recommended sweetrom, it's the one I use.

Modified status won't let you OTA update.
But Sprint or Samsung Experience at Best Buy can flash that phone to latest stock. Just tell them the update fails and let them deal with it.

I don't have either in my area. Oh, I will need a flashable bootloader and stock recover for the rom as well.

I don't know how safe it is to use on our device. But you might have a look at FlashFire by Chainfire Here!
I've never used it myself but it's the predecessor of mobile odin.
Maybe someone else can weigh in on this!
