SD Card -Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition -Kit Kat - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Has anyone been using an SD card in this device after the kit kat update? If so any problems? I know kitkat broke sd cards, but I'm not sure if it's the card or not. Thnx

There are new limitations, most apps will not write to the card. The default file Manger will write and transfer data.

Ok, I tried with the default one, but once the file finishes transferring, it's a video, it says file has incorrect data

Do you flash a Stock Firmware with Odin or OTA up to 4.4.2, or using just a custom Rom, flashed by zip? If zip, flash a stock FW with Odin before, at this time, the most SD Card Problems with 4.4.2 should be fixed......
And....it doesnt BROKE SD Cards, Android have since 4.4.2 new policies for Apps, that wann write or read from external sd, thats all.....

As far as I know, it will work only if you root your device. Mine is rooted, and the SD card is writing again. In case you wanna try it, use SDFix, from Play Store, when you boot under root. It changes a configuration file so that you can write to the card again.
If you don't wish to root, then all you can do is read from the card. Nothing more.

Ok ty, does rooting trip Knox? Or only flashing a rom does?

If you root your SM-P600 you will trip Knox
Only the SM-P605 can be rooted (so far) w/o tripping Knox.

First give a try by flashing a fully Rom with Odin....that don't root your device , but flashing also bootloader and other things. OTA Updates from 4.3 to 4.4.2 are not so good, cause OTA will just change the new parts of the system, and you should flash the whole Rom and do a data , cache wipe also. ....the problems with the external sd cards shpuld be solved on 4.4.2 Roms without Root also, cause just the apps was the reason for the problems, But meanwhile, all apps should be working with the new policies of Android 4.4.2

Ok, where can I find the stock rom to flash without tripping anything

you can try to find one with your region code but if not available not should not be a big problem.

Forgive me but unless I am reading this thread wrong. Mine is updated to kitkat and I can write and delete fine. Never had a problem before or after. Stock file manager and es both work great. I really lol doubt I am just some how lucky.
Now granted my device shows a build date of Mar 2014. So maybe something was fixed in hardware. But I doubt this. There are SD that work yet will have problems and depends how you formatted it. This is something I tested yet on my device
Same with battery. It was great before and just as good now.
I believe I should add I THOUGHT really did I bought a Wifi version 32gb $400 new. Yet what I got was brand new 605 verizon 32gb. Which is awesome. I just always wanted the Snap 800.. i know i know not really better or worse. So maybe the 605 made in Mar 2014 is... yeah no clue.

How did you update? Also I'm mostly thinking is the card , Samsung 64GB PRO Micro SDXC with Adapter - up to 70 MB/s - UHS-1 Class 10 Memory Card (MB-MGCGBA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E1XI6L2/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_aS-0tb06A9SNTHVK?ie=UTF8 , I got it off Amazon, don't remember which seller though
Edit: It says I got it from ASM Trading Co.

Redpill is a kernal that was supposed to enable me to make my 32g memory card actas my internal memory card and cause my inernal memory act as the memory card. As you can tell I'm a nooby
Flash via Odin stock T-Mobile,kernel, mod an see if it fixes the problem

Gotcha. I hadn't heard of it I thought it was a ROM. Well do this restore the backup you made before flashing and see if it works. If that doesn't then restore your phone to stock using the factory image in Odin. If that didn't work.... well we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. If you need help just post back here. By the way can you link me to the kernel?

(Question) SD Card Limitations

Is there anyway to lift the sd card limitations without rooting???
I know if you root you can change some lines in a permissions file to solve the issue, but I cant root my device due to several reasons.
If there is no way to do this has anyone got any idea if Samsung plan to fix this issue or is it something Google wont let them do???

Why, do you have 4.4 on your Note 10.1 2014?
It's to do with app permissions, you can use the stock file explorer to write to the sd cad and if rooted there's no problems.... Apparently ES File Manager has been updated to do this too but I can't say as my Note 3 never had the sd write bug due to it being rooted...

[SGH-M919] Galaxy S4 (T-Mobile) 4.4.2 CF-auto-root feedback

Hi, guys. I wanted to write a post, but since i'm a new member, i'm writing a thread here instead. The thread i wanted to reply is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294005
I wanted to let somebody know (because it helps some folks) that i used CF-auto-root, and i have successfully rooted my phone.
More details that may be helpful or useful are following:
*Everything was fine until 4.2.2 (JB); then, my stupidity kicked in, and MANUALLY upgraded OTA to 4.3;
*I noticed this CF-auto-root, tried it, perfectly rooted my phone. And YES, i tripped the Knox warranty...
*At some point, i unrooted my 4.3 (JB) so that i can manually upgrade to KitKat when it's released;
*Successfully upgraded to 4.4.2 (KK) OTA on Mar 10;
*I couldn't find any info about "safe root" for 4.4.2, so i chose CF-auto-root instead (i tripped the flag, so i didn't care);
*I took the same steps for rooting 4.3 and it "worked". Initially verified with Root Checker Basic;
*However, SuperSU seemed to be "missing", and i DL from the store, and it opened fine (I didn't know SuperSU can be DL from the store)
This is my story, and i'm sticking to it
cf auto root work fine on my m919 4.4.2
It doesn't show up anymore in the app drawer. I don't have supersu in my app drawer, either. And, I'm definitely rooted. Sounds like you are, too.

Why doesn't adownloader download to my sdcard?

I recent returned to stock due to my phone not wanting to cooperate with the roms and I thought returning to stock would fix my torrent to sdcard issue but it's not whenever I change the download directory to extsdcard it downloads but the file isn't there it doesn't even take up any space I have a sandisk ultra plus 64 gb I got it today so it's brand new I do need to point out I had my full backup on my sdcard when I returned to stock well its not there so I figured it wiped my sdcard also is there something I should do?
