No mine doesn't, it gets warm but then again it's charging. Maybe try a different charger? The one that out comes with is 1.8A which isn't that high, but I guess it could be for usb 2.0. My nexus 7 has a 1.2A charger which is a lot lower and my note had a 2.0A charger. I would try the other one and confirm it's a lower amperage and see if that helps.

This is normal. Because it is inductive charging.

This is OK totally to get warm when charging and also it gets even warmer if you are using it. Try testing laptop charger... Drain battery totally and then plug charger to wall outlet. Wait few minutes and touch the charger. Then turn on you laptop use it a little and then again touch charger, even hotter...
Any or every device gets warm while charging. Dont worry this normal unless your phone gets so hot that you can't even touch it.

What isn't normal is I got a warning popup on mine today saying something to the effect of 'Charging is being suspended due to high temperature'.
WTF! It was in my car, plugged in to the same charger I have used for months. I'm in the UK! Temperature was certainly no higher than 25 Celsius. device was warm, but not so warm I couldn't touch it!
If you get a warning then check inside USB port. I had this behavior on GS2 where the tab inside port was touching the inside wall. I used a micro screw driver and slightly lifted it up so its not making contact with the metal housing. Be very careful as you have been warned. If you break the tab means your phone is done. So proceed at your own risk.

Mine heats up regularly when using it, but when I'm charging and also using it, it gets so hot I can't even touch it. My clean master always sends me notifications about apps that keep restarting excessively. Any advice?
PS when I leave it charging it still heats up pretty badly without me using it.

Alright well I was using mobile hotspot and had my phone in charging and the about a hr later my phone shut off. I was wtf so I truer turning my phone on and it wouldn't come on so I plug it back on the charger then tryed turning it on .
Well it booted to the white HTC splash screen then look like it was changing to the boot screen but the screen just stayed black and a light flashed Orange (have no clue what it means flashing Orange ). Well it took me like 10 trys of pulling battery and putting in charger and it finally booted all the way up .
Once it was booted it said it was charging so I though ok must be a fluke of my luck . So I went to serf something on my phone (mobile hotspot was turned off ). And like 15 mins in after getting it to boot it shutdown again and did the same thing .
So I was what the hell is going on , so I took the battery out waited 1 hr before plugging it back in tryed booting just by battery and nothing so I plug in the charger and it booted . And so its charging. I downloaded a battery monitor and checked it . It said the battery was good and charging(USB). It is at 20% after a hour of charging . But the monitor says 6hrs30mins till completely charged .
My question is did I kill my battery for good well damged it or was it just acting crazy cause it got a really low or hot . Also why is it taking so long to charge now and what does the flashing Orange light mean when it was off . Also shouldn't it say charging. (A/C)
Thanks I tryed searching for this no luck.

Flashing orange light when off and plugged in means its charging but there isn't enough power to boot up yet...in my opinion there is only 3 things it could be...Charging port which if u wanna try ur hand at soldering u might be able to fix it, your battery which is a possibility or your acctual charger itself. Sometimes when the charging ports/ cord start to go out it will say USB charging instead of ac charging I've seen it before. Hope I've helped.

@pfcland, put your battery in the freezer for about 45 min then put it on the charger and let it carge up for a while before booting, make sure the light goes solid orange for atleast an hour.

Hello,
My battery is not charging while the charger is connected !!!
the phone detect the charger but the battery won't charge :s
any idea ?
thank you
Try any other chargers?
If yes, and still doesn't work then I'm going with faulty charger port. Just got done setting up a refurb from VZW b/c my g/f's gnex had this issue.
The only other thing I can say to try is bending the tab/metal plate in the middle of the charging port up towards the glass a bit to center it more. May work.
i've tried 3 differents chargers and usb cables.it shows "charging" on lockscreen but the battery drains !
i'll try to bend the metal plate to center it more.hope it will work

This is a known Samsung hardware problem with GNex. The USB port's contact (in the center) is made from cheap, thin metal -- unpleasantly reminiscent of the Galaxy S cheap, thin metal GPS antenna; a total fail. It's really criminal that Samsung releases product like this, and moreover that they don't halt production and engineer the problem out before putting more lemons out there.
The recommended solution -- bending the contact into alignment -- worked for me for about 5 seconds. Repeat 5 times, and then the phone simply wouldn't start up.
Your best solutions:
1. If it's under warranty, send it in for a fix
2. If it's not, search this forum for instructions on buying (ebay?) and replacing the USB port.
In either case, I'd worry about the problem re-occurring. I bought the very overpriced desk dock so that I can charge using the pogo pins. However, in my car I still need to use the USB cable ... very carefully.
I wouldn't ordinarily get phone insurance, but in this case I'm considering it. Not sure if it would be a covered incident. Does anyone know of a well-priced third-party insurance company that actually provides the coverage that one expects?
Hi there.
Has anyone managed to fix this issue?
My phone has the same problem. When I try to charge it, battery icon changes to charging animation, but battery percentage will not go up. In settings, status of battery is "discharging". Also, battery settings page does not show any application using battery other than "Android OS" and "Screen" which i find strange - usually at least 10 apps are shown on this page.
Have tried different wall chargers and USB cables, have tried getting the pin in the micro-USB port to the middle. still no help.
On the latest version of JBSourcery ROM, if that helps.
Thanks.
battery calibration?
this may be the case if you recently flashed a new ROM and your battery is not properly calibrated yet. you may try to let the battery completely discharge and charge again (of course, this only works, if it is indeed not a hardware issue also, use only wall chargers)... repeat that a few times and your battery should be calibrated again... had this problem a few times after flashing a new ROM, but that fixed it.
As my HOX was charging, via a USB cable to plug, the screen started flickering slightly and the phone shut itself down. The phone was 10% charged. Now when I try to charge it the LED flashes red and green and doesn't seem to charge. I've read that this could be due to overheating so I left my phone untouched for a couple of hours but it's still flashing red and green/green. Something feels seriously wrong.
Is there something I can do to fix this?
When the problem started the phone was quite warm but nowhere near as hot as it has been, and I wasn't using it that much.
The only thing different today was that I was using a plug that I don't normally use, the cable I have used before.
Any ideas?
How much does a battery replacement cost?
Thanks
Chris

Can charge it to 60% but turns off after heavy usage
OK I've managed to get this battery to charge up to 60%. It won't go any higher than that. I was using today quite heavily for about 30 minutes and it got quite hot and turned itself off.
Will replacing the battery sort this problem out or is there something else wrong?

But is the problem solved? Because I'm facing same problem on my S3 Neo (Duel sim card phone). I purchased it 2 months ago & using same cord & charger given by Samsung.
Pls help.
The default Samsung wireless chargers are having major issues with it pausing and screen waking.
Two fixes:
Set daydream on in display in settings. If screen locks or sleeps is the claiming issue of the pausing.
Or
Try using the default charger and cord that came with the phone.
The second option worked for me more than the first.
I think the issue is the long cord, so the current is weaker.
I don't have those issues
Wish i could get mine to work. I have tried turning on daydream but i dont want my screen to stay on the whole time its charging so i turned it back off

I can tell u on mine it is not a software issue. And i dont thinks its my charger. I can put my regular s6 on there all day and not have it stop charging. Every time i put my plus on there it wont stay charging. Keeps saying charging paused after a short time and the blue light keeps blinking. Reason i doubt its a software issue is it does the same thing when phone is fully shut down

This cant be right. Its a hardware issue with the phone itself. Prob something to do with the actual fast charging reciever inside the phone. I have charged my regular s6 without any issues dozens of times on the same charging pad that wont charge the edge+ or note 5. If yours works with the note5 or edge + then u got lucky. I dont think its a software issue as it does the same thing when phone is totally shut off

wireless charging issues
If any one still has wireless charging issues if you go to developer options and activate the stay awake while charging feature, the phone charges without pausing. My phone was experiencing the pausing while mid charge even after the update. I tried the daydream method that didnt work. But trying the stay awake while charging in the developer options drop down. It charges without pausing. Sweet!!! i thought i was going to have to buy a new charger, this one was free.

I've tried that but I noticed after the last update it started working fine. I think they fixed the cfg of the wireless charging.
