I am using ElementalX kernel on stock 4.4.4 android. I have to OC set to 1.944GHz currently. AnTuTu bench at 1.944GHz and 450MHz GPU gives me between 24-25k result. Now if I lower the CPU to 1.89GHz it drops to 21k. And if I go back to stock freq I get 19k. Something does not seem right in the test results as related to the frequencies. Question is this: Are there sweet spots in the frequency range for the CPU?
P.S. I know many people dislike benchmarks...I'm using it for comparative purposes...

It states it in the thread, having cpu at 1.9ghz is not economical with battery consumption and performance, it Is best at 1.7ghz

You should monitor your CPU temp and frequency while benching.
You would see that your CPU's temp probably goes above 70°C if not higher and so the kernel thermal throttling policies would downclock your CPU's max freq. in order to keep your CPU "cool".
If you first bench @ 1944MHz then bench @ a litle lower frequency and have very lower score then its not because of the lower freq. but because you did first heat up your CPU @ 1944 and when you re-run @ lower freq. your CPU is already very hot and so does a severe thermal throttling.
Last point : running your CPU @ 1944MHz is not good since thermal throttling while happen every now and then.
Not convinced?
Then simply launch the camera app and try to take a video of 5 mins...your CPU will become so hot that it will downclock to something ridiculously low and your recording will become jerky.

Ok so i have cm7.2 rc1 instaled with the new kernel. I've changed many different roms in the past to find out i cant overclock over 768 w/o the phone crashing. Anyway yesterday i searched the forum and found out i can overclock to more if i change the governor to userspace. It did work however i ran antutu benchmark and i saw the folowing.
At 864 governor userspace i get 1328 points.
At 844 governor userspace i get 1479 points.
At 825 governor userspace i get 1486 points
At 806 governor userspace i get 1675 points.
At 768 governor performance i get 1644 points.
So my question is could it be that antutu is wrong or is it some something buggy with the kernel or my device.
Edit. And also something that i noticed at 864 the cpu is what lowers the score drasticly and on 844 and 825 its the 2d graphics. I could post SS later cuz i dont have time now if neceserry.

reason is because of governor
Keep it at 806 and use whatever governor you'd like to (smartass2 if you want better battery life and high performance only when running apps). Don't set it any higher, as it could melt your phone and it'll definitely drain your battery a lot faster than it should.
Mine runs at 120 - 787 MHz and "ondemand" governor. If I set the upper limit to 806, the phone would crash when under load (e. g. benchmarking). The settings appear to save a bit of power compared to the "default" values, which is probable due to the so-called "race to idle"-effect. Basically "race to idle" means that higher clock frequencies will save power, since the processor gets the work done faster and can enter low-power states earlier than when running on lower clock frequencies, so if you can clock it even higher you should get even better battery life in the long run, even though this might seem counter-intuitive. Only disadvantage with these settings is that the phone lags a bit directly after booting and screen unlocking, but otherwise is really smooth.
My freequency is 245-864 and i have very stable work. But i have extended battarey (2200mah)
Hey everyone,
Was just wondering, what is your Maximum overclock on your Note II. At what voltage?
1.8GHz for daily usage at 1250mv
[email protected]
Latest antutu 22570.

Don't actually overclock, don't really need it so far
Overclocking Benefits
Wow, 1.86 GHz. Great. Nice low voltage too!
I run at 1.92 GHz, 1350 mV (Sometimes I can get 1325 mV, but I overclocked the GPU. It seems if the GPU is faster the processor needs more voltage?)
Latest Antutu Score: 25545, beating the stock S IV

Don't you undervolt all CPU clocks from 200Mhz to 1900Mhz?

Yep! All clocks are undervolted, each step decrease 25 mV from previous. I found this to give best benchmark and stability!
If you know of any clocks I can decrease further, please share.
Also, does anybody know if 2000 MHz is possible? I heard overclocking should be between 10-20% increase otherwise the CPU could malfunction (device freeze, SOD, ect) Now, 1600 MHz + 20% = 1920 MHz so I don't think any higher is possible.... But anything is possible on XDA/Android!
Tried your setting hitman but best antutu I could get was 23049.

Ok. What ROM are you using? I'm running CM 10.2
Also, governor to Pegasusq. I customised that to give best performance I can get.
And, what kernel are you using? I'm using Devil Kernel 0.35 or something (the latest devil kernel)
Use TricksterMod to overlook GPU to 800 MHz, you'll need extra volts.
Download all in one toolbox from Play, or Clean Master. Run this before running Antutu
Using TricksterMod, make sure CPU temp is below 30 Degrees Celsius.
I would like to flash the Elemental X Kernel over CleanROM, and I am interested in slight OC'ing. I notice with the installer it sets the boot CPU and GPU to what you set it to during the install.
If I use trickster mod can I go back to stock if I set the cpu to 1.7ghz in the install?
I figured 1.7-1.8 would be a mild OC and no more than the preferred 450 for the gpu. What does everyone else use? I game a lot on the nexus but don't want to overheat the device too much.

Yes, you can go back to whatever frequencies you desire and for the heat, for me, it heats up no matter what
However these temperatures are normal so nothing to worry about.
I live in the Caribbean with a Tropical Climate and i run at 1.7 ghz with 450mhz for the gpu with not much heat problems.

I set mine to these, all seems stable and noticeably better for gaming,
I use Trickster Mod to change everything, always loved the app.
CPU: 1.7ghz
GPU: 450mhz
CPU Governor: Performance (while gaming), ElementalX (Regular Use)
GPU Governor: Ondemand (always)
Undervoltage: 850
I also have D2TW (Double Tap to wake) just because it's easier for me.
I play Order & Chaos a lot, with pure stock settings I noticed slight frame issues while in heavy populated area's or if using a lot of in-game commands at once. I now notice nothing..
I noticed that I can only overclock the CPU from 1.9 GHZ to 2.1 GHZ with skyhigh kernel. Is there anyway to get it higher?

Not with my kernels.
99% of devices won't be stable above that and in any case will not provide any great benefit.
I did have GPU higher but is really a waste and with CPU, due to higher temps invoking thermal throttle, leading to decrease in overall benchmark/performance.
Through my extensive testing, having anything higher than my current max CPU and GPU frequency = PLACEBO
Edit: Maybe things might change compiling with Lollipop source (once released), but unlikely. Obviously I will test though

ok thank you. What about the GPU, any benefits for overclocking it?
Maybe when opening the case and adding some cooling mod to CPU/GPU, the overclocking will do better.
Hey guys!
I installed CPU Spy and Performance Tuner and noticed that my max CPU speed is 1440Mhz but as far as I know it should say 1800Mhz. I know we have 4 cores running at 1.4Ghz and 2 cores running at 1.8Ghz which is the speed advertised.
What is your max CPU speed for your G4?

CpuSpy doesn't know that cores beyond 0-3 exist, so it only shows the first quadcore cluster. App hasn't been taught bigLITTLE yet it seems.
Oh I see, I thought I had like a bad CPU since I couldnt find something about it. Thanks!
Same here I only get to do 1.44
Use Kernel Adiutor App. it's compatible and detects all cores.
