[Q] Create Custom Rom based on firmware - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
first I've done some research about this topic but couldn't find a tutorial.
As the title says, I want to create a rom based on the latest KitKat firmware CNE6.All tutorials I found wre based on aosp/cm source. Therefore you have to setup the android kitchen with Cygwin. But this doesn't apply to my concern, does it?
So what id the easiest way to create flashable zip?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry but all these threads are for aosp Roms and not stock Roms.

i made my custom rom for the i9192 full s5 stuff ports and look etc etc ... just a bit to release ...the point is how to .. here is a simple guide for making a stock modded firmware
you need:
-cygwin+android kitchen
-orignal .tar.md5 firmware of the phone
-apktool(optional)(for modding apk's)
-ext4 unpacker tool
1-open the .tar file and extract "system.img.ext4" file
2-using the etx4 tool extract the contents of the file to "C:\cygwin\home\>user<\kitchen\WORKING_>rrgrrg_BND2<\system"
NOTE : text between >< is according to you (>user< == your pc username)(>rrgrrg_bnd2< == can be anything)
3-add any meta-inf folder and any boot.img with the system folder so it fools cygwin
3-add root+busybox via cygwin....&...customize your apk's and dexoed (optional)
4-copy the system folder to any other place and add a proper boot.img and a proper meta-inf folder with cwm script tada
NOTES :
- i didnt use a specific kitchen things .. just a normal kitchen enviroment with cygwin
- if you dont have a knox-free boot.img .. please find\make one so you can get rid of knox and errors
- my script is for 4.2.2 .. you need to find a how-to for kitkat symlinks\perms... partitions targets are easy to get .. if u want pm me
-i didnt use cygwin except for deoxeding ... root+busybox i added them manually via a pack pm me if you want it

you can build it yourself from aosp
The format for each ROM must be one of the following:
- system.img + optional boot.img/lib.img (e.g. stock ROM or Nandroid)
- ZIP file for a custom ROM (e.g. update.zip)
- ZIP file containing *.img (e.g. stock rom.zip)
- ZIP file containing shipped ROM in SYSTEM + BOOT folder format
- Working folder made with this kitchen (e.g. WORKING_old_rom)

you can download the stock roms from here :
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
extract the image and move system.img and boot.img to your working folder.. should work fine just like it did with your S2

[MOD] Enable Spell Checker on Stock ROM XXBLG9

Hi people, this is my very first contribution to this forum. Basically, after switching to CM9 then back to stock, I felt that I was really missing out the ICS spell checking feature (which I don't know why Samsung disabled it).
While searching this forum, I stumbled upon this thread here, which enables the spell checking feature on S2 ICS. The guy posted the changes he made to the files, and I simply applied the same changes to the S3 files (with some improvisation, as they are a bit different).
I tested the mod with a deodexed XXBLG9 ROM here. However, theoretically, it should work on other deodexed stock-based ROMs.
-----------------------
Instruction:
1. Install AOSP Jelly Bean Keyboard from Play Store (link)
2. Reboot to recovery and create NANDroid backup (IMPORTANT!)
3. Use any root explorer to replace \system\app\SecSettings.apk and \system\framework\framework.jar with the files provided below.
4. Make sure that the permission and owner of the files are the same as original (0644)
5. Reboot
Voila!
I was thinking to create a CWM-flashable zip file, but since I am still n00b here, I couldn't. Can somebody teach me how? Better yet, just post a reply here, and I will add it to this post.
EDIT: Taught myself how to create the zip (I was doing it wrong the first time round). The CWM-compatible zip is now added, including uninstaller.
EDIT2: Uploaded the wrong zip files. Please redownload if you downloaded before.

Thanks, but I makes special clear stock deodex without changes, because many people are looking for just the firmware deodeks with root access, without derogation from the flow to change by themselves ...

Will this work with the Galaxy S3 for AT&T?
Can anyone help me implement this on the stock Galaxy ROM?
Starting from the jelly bean update, the language files are completely removed from the system's apk and jar files. It would probably require more than just a simple mod to enable it. I will try when i have time.

If you want to start modding then search disxda kitchen
That also supports tar, you won't need to have cwm.

dr.ketan , first I would like to thank you for the amazing all in one thread and the modding thread , i have learned how to root and install a custom ROM from your guides , honestly , i love your work man
I have installed the framework from your thread and tried to extract the systemUI using a terminal emulator after i have rooted the phone , but it gives mee (ssh:no ta found) error every time i use it on any of the samsung stock ROM , and as you know without a clean systemUI i wont be able to start modding , and i have searched for a way to convert the .tar.md5 ROM to .zip or at least extract the systemUI from them but with no luck , all threads explaining it are sony phones threads .
To sum up , i wish if you can show me how to get this systemUI from the stock base ROM.
Ps, your MultiMod_V16 is amazing , thanks for that , i am planning to use some of the mods in it in my first experimental build.
First you need to deodexed SystemUI
That's why i have suggest you kitchen, with that you can extract tar and deodexed all app in one go.
If kitchen looks difficult then
find some img extract software, with that you can extract System apk from tar. later you can find any deodexer utility to deodex SystemUI.
Thanks
