[Q] Repeating keyboard problem fix? - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
I have a Rii i8 Mini keyboard from Amazon, and I have been having trouble with it in both in FTV and XBMC. The keys erratically repeat for many characters like thissssssssssssss and even the arrow keys occasionally get stuck scrolling down in menus. Also, some key presses are randomly not detected. I googled a bit, and saw that this was a problem for many android users (couldn't find anything KFTV specific) involving 2.4ghz / bluetooth mice and keyboards.
I came across a discussion that suggests to install the app "External Keyboard Helper Pro", which I tried via sideloading, but wouldn't launch after install. This would not fix the keys randomly not registering either. I tested another 2.4ghz keyboard mouse combo and it worked perfectly fine. I also tested the problem keyboard on my Windows PC, and I was able to type out an entire paragraph without errors, whereas on the Fire TV, I can barely type my email or password without 10 typos.
Does anyone have any experience with this problem?
TLDR; Does anyone know how to disable sticky keys on the FTV or force an app that wont launch to launch?
Or, any other mini keyboard suggestions for the FTV
I have the same problem with the same keyboard. I thought it was my keyboard and was about to return to amazon.
I have the same problem

I would guess it's the keyboard itself. I bought a Hausbell ® Mini H7 2.4GHz Wireless Entertainment Keyboard with Touchpad for PC, Pad, Andriod TV Box, Google TV Box, Xbox360, PS3 & HTPC/IPTV (Black) to use on my G-Box -- and I had very similar issues that you describe. It even wouldn't produce character that was 'shifted'. Never did get it to work correctly. It does the same thing on my FTV. I have since purchased a iClever IC-RF01 2.4G Ultra Mini Wireless Keyboard with Mouse Touchpad all the problems disapeared no more repeating key presses...

Damn, same issues here with the same keyboard. Is there still no solution except of buying another keyboard?

I haven't found any solution yet. I've heard the Logitech K400 has no problems on the FTV but it's so much bigger and pricier. I might just cave it and get it soon though, cause it's frustrating to type with the dpad.
I bought this one yesterday:
http://www.amazon.de/Rapoo-schnurlo...&ie=UTF8&qid=1412875796&sr=1-5&keywords=rapoo
It works much better but from time to time it has the same problem with the repeating characters. That would mean it is not a Rii-specific problem. But since it works now most of the time it is ok for me.
Maybe the problem is related to the firetv-input method (the onscreen keyboard for the remote controls dpad). Sometimes that keyboard appears, disappears, appears, disappears and so on when I try to enter some text using a physical keyboard.
I use a Lenovo N905 (I think) keyboard and have the same issue from time to time.
Same problem here. I'm going to try turning my Amazon box around so the the little key piece is facing forward to see if that makes a difference. Wish me luck. If it works I'll reply back. Maybe a USB adapter that will allow the key to face toward the front of the box might also work. I don't think the keys are getting stuck I think it's an interference issue.
I've got this same problem with the Rii, but prior to that I had an iPazz Port which was fine (although felt like junk in the hand). I might just get another one of them again and have done with it.

Anyone used Logitech bluetooth keyboard with Note?
I am planning to buy bluetooth keyboard and mouse for my Note. My first instinct was to buy Apple keyboard but after browsing around I realized Android keys on the keyboard are going to be very helpful. I finally settled with this keyboard http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboard/devices/8232 but it is designed for 3.0+. In S2 forum, I saw one guy had to flash specific custom ROM/kernel to get it working. Anyone paired this keyboard with Note? I don't want to wait until ICS (given that this keyboard needs 3.0+) nor want to fiddle around installing different ROMs. (something strange happened and I lost all the text and URLs I searched and collected in my previous post though 'Submit New Thread' button click appeared to work as it should)
I've used it, works fine including the shortcut keys.
[SOLVED] [Q] SixAxis Controller & problems with CM11 toroplus?
Is anyone using the latest version of SixAxis Controller on their GNex with a Nightly of CM11 built in the last 2 or 3 months? It was only after a long time after finally upgrading to CM11 that I noticed some weirdness that sort of makes SixAxis Controller unusable for me with a lot of things. Basically, in Preferences, if I have either "Gamepad Settings > Enable Gamepad" or "Keyboard Emulation > Bypass IME" set, there is a -huge- delay between D-Pad/button presses, and them actually registering in anything...plus, the direction/button needs to actually be held down for a little over a second to actually register...or it needs to be rapidly tapped. If I just press and release something once, it never registers. The thing is, with Enable Gamepad checked, the analog sticks work as they should, with 0 delay or other weirdness. If I leave both of those options unchecked (so it's just using the SixAxis IME to send keyboard keys and buttons), that works totally fine in everything I tried. The problem with that though is that there's no way to use the analog sticks that way to have them act like actual analog sticks...you can just have each direction mapped to send a key/button. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the app...wiped the settings...reset the controller and re-paired it...tried a 2nd controller that I've used earlier with no problem...none of this has fixed it, and it still acts as described above
Well, after trying an X360 controller over OTG, and then serveral PC gamepads over OTG, I found out the problem wasn't just with the PS3 setup. I was getting the same weird button lag/need-to-hold behavior with -any- gamepad setup that wasn't piping keyboard keys through an IME. So, I spent the day backing up, wiping, and flashing my Galaxy Nexus to see if the problem was ROM-level or what, and...the problem was gone...so I spent the rest of the day restoring, disabling, and tracking down just exactly what I had done to break it in the first place. The problem ended up being: the 'Xposed Additions' module available for Xposed Framework. It has some hardware button-remapping functionality that seems to have been interfering with any sort of native gamepad button presses here, even though I wasn't using any of the remapping options.:silly:
Touch Screen Problem
So, I have ran into quite a problem. It didnt really happen out of the game Piano Tiles 2 but still, its annoying. I press onto the black tile but it doesnt register my touch. I dont know if it has something to do with the compatibility but it works perfectly fine on my m8. I havent unlocked, s-off or rooted my phone so thats not the problem. If anyone has a fix for this or the same problem please reply EDIT: Tried testing the touch with an app called touch screen test, and as I thought it doesnt register every touch on the edges of the screen. It registers like 3 of 10 hits, sometimes more sometimes less. Does it have something to do with the sharp panel, which i dont think matters but I didnt see the problem on any other threads here.
I've been having issues with my phone's touch responsiveness since day one. Swipes are registering as taps, long presses registering as taps, and some taps are not registering. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen. I haven't rooted, unlocked the boot loader or s-offed. It's an AU Telstra stock phone. I thought it might be my screen protector, so I changed that and it still happens. Maybe it's my launcher? IDK why that would be, I had Nova on my M8 and that worked perfectly. I changed back to stock launcher and still getting the issue. In fact I have all the same apps installed that I had on my M8, and my M8 had a perfectly responsive screen. I specifically came here today to see if anyone else was having the issues or if I'm the only one, maybe we have dud units and it's not wide-spread?
I am having the same problem now. It wasn't present at first. I tried a factory reset, but it didn't help. I am going to try and get a replacement.
Only with Sharp panel there's the problem?
I went and saw Telstra yesterday to show them the problem, I was worried because it's an intermittent problem that phone would behave in front of them, but luckily it did screw up in front of them. They have a policy where faulty phones will be replaced as a straight swap over in the first 30 days. I've installed nearly everything and haven't had the issue once.
I don't really know what type of panel it is related to, etc. I called HTC, and they are overnighting me a replacement. I don't expect to see this problem surface again on the new model. It doesn't seem to be a wide spread issue. Maybe the screen didn't adhere properly to the digitizer, but I am not an expert in this area.
This is what I noticed too before sending it back to the store. Now that I think of it, try enabling glove mode for the screen to see if it still misses certain touches.
Ill try that. I still consider it a flaw, and HTC has already shipped the replacement (if my UPS tracking alert is from them). It isn't that the screen doesn't pick up the touches, because it does. But If I try to touch anything in the upper 15% percent of the screen, it doesn't register properly. For example; the search bar in the google play store, search button in the gmail app, etc. If I try to push that, sometimes it doesn't respond, but most often it will register as a swipe, or actually register as a press somewhere in the middle of the screen. I believe it is a hardware flaw. The problem persist, despite a factory reset. If I turn the phone in landscape, the problem stays localized to the mentioned portion of the screen; thus I believe it is hardware vs software.
Ok I tried glove mode and it does say i touched the screen, but for every app ive tried it doesnt recognize it still. So glove mode says i clicked, but it didnt on the screen. Hows that possible? maybe really not a hardware flaw idk

My HTC 10 screen doesn't respond to touches in the search bar at Google Apps and most apps actually except FB & Instagram. And when u slide the tool dock down, the 6 tabs under date & time aren't responding! When I tired rotating the screen, they were in a different position and they worked normally. I downloaded a screen test app and it was registering all touches correctly except in this rectangle on top of screen (at the dock & search bars position) it registers it as two thumbs on screen at the top quarter of that non-responding rectangle. Does anybody know exactly is that a software or a hardware issue and how to solve it if the phone is not under warranty? { "lightbox_close": "Close", "lightbox_next": "Next", "lightbox_previous": "Previous", "lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. damn it Please add necessary info, like sw version #, display panel info, etc. that might help to track. A reboot to safe mode is always worth trying. If many of us ran into the same issue, maybe we can locate if it's HTC ROM related, or 3rd party apps related, or the worst: hardware related. For my device, sometimes it's not very responsive on the side of the screen, but I've never had an area totally untouchable. HTC 10, EU, 2.41.401.4, Sharp panel. Edit on 26 May 2017: I just regret to say things above....Because I have the similar problem right now...I have no idea what happened... take a look at image below: The lines I drew were curved strangely bt the screen itself... I tried a reboot and cleared the cache, it seemed to be working. Only after a few hours, it came back...I rebooted to save mode to test, but it still exists and getting worse: I have no screen protector applied, phones wasn't dropped or got punctured recently...what's going on...
My solution Mine is fixed yaaay I had the same issue the upper 15% doesn't work... A week ago I did a command from the PC to lower the screen so i can use the device: adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,260 Today I wanted to revert back to full screen instead of using only 85% so i did the command with default values: adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,0 Now it is working with no issues so i can confirm it is not hardware fault must be software. If anyone has the same issue try the first command and reboot the phone the use the second command. (You need a PC with adb installed) Good luck

Developed the same problem a couple weeks ago. Factory reset did not help. Currently using the "overscan fix" described above (used 0,250,0,0) Reverting to default does not fix the problem for me.
I fixed my htc10 after a month of dealing with htc RMA unsuccessfully. Seriously try this. It fixed my phone on the second click. I was shocked. https://youtu.be/VERfODYHX3g Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA-Developers Legacy app

I believe I am probably having the same problem with an iPazzPort KP-810-30P keyboard for the fire stick I am trying to use. I install the settings.apk easily enough but when I am actually in settings, anything I select forces the app to crash. I read somewhere that resetting the fire stick to factory settings would get it to work but it hasn't. Is there some reason the settings app keeps crashing? All the videos and help I see are from 2 years ago, so is there some type of conflict with the newest fire stick that won't allow this app to work?
Question Issue with game controllers.
Hello, I have been having an issue with game controllers and my Fold 4. Phone is good in all regards except game controller connections. I have factory reset twice (with the most recent at the same time as UI 5.1 dropped). This whole time I assumed it was Bluetooth lag until I decided to try some testing just to realize it doesn't matter if it's wireless or wired directly into the phone. This issue happens most notably when I am pressing the facing buttons like Y, X, A, and B. I am not talking about mashing the buttons either just regular attack speed for a retro beat em up game. It leaves any game unplayable due to missed inputs. I tested this wired with 8Bitdo Pro 2 controller and a PS5 controller, they all act the same as the wireless Nacon MGX Pro. Worst of all I just tested the Nacon MGX Pro wirelessly on an old Samsung Tablet S6 and it works just great. To think upgrading to this flagship phone when my last Note 21 ultra never had this problem. I am attaching a video capture of the Nacon wirelessly connected and the Pro 2 Plugged in. I am pressing the buttons at the same tempo as the Right dpad button in the beginning. Please I can use any help.
Hey ! I have the MGX Pro as well but don't have this issue. I use it for xCloud mostly.
Update, I tried turning any and all accessibility options off and I noticed something interesting. An option called bounce keys was on, it's a delay from a second press of the same button. The phone just had a fresh factory wipe and this was enabled . Turned that off and other accessibility options and games where playable. I don't know if it was another option bug but I believe "bounce key" option was the culprit.
