[Q] No "Internet through PC" and "HTC Sync" in Cyanogenmod 7.2.0-RC1-marvel
Hi,
I,ve installed Unofficial Cyanogenmod 7.2.0-RC1-marvel-KANG and everything is working fine, but when I connect my phone to PC a screen with a button (turn on USB storage) that can enable "disk drive mode". How can I connect my PC in other ways: "Internet through PC" and "HTC Sync"
There is also no "pc connectivity" option in settings!
I'm not a premium uses and I can't to post in development section.
These options are only available in sense based roms
right. thanks. I read more and I understood that I have to use "reverse tethering" to share my PC internet into my mobile. Do you a good tools for this purpose? I tried some like "easy tether", "android tools" but they didn't work fine.
What happens?
"android tools" crashes frequently on the phone and in "easy tethering" it doesn't connect to internet, nothing happens. it only can be used for connecting to "91 pc suite", an alternative for HTC sync.
pdanet doesn't work either, I think it's only for "tethering" not "reverse tethering". I want to share my PC's internet via USB cable
Have you tried 91 pc suite?

in new non-Sense rom, 91 PC suite only connects if I run easytether. before, when I was on original sense based rom, 91 pc suite would connects if I chose "HTC Sync" mode.
So what's wrong with easy tether?
As I told, I need to share my "PC's internet" to my phone through USB cable. Easytether only works for connecting phone to 91 pc suite and doesn't share my PC's internet. I don't like it either and I prefer to have a built-in feature if possible.
But now the most important thing is "how can I share the internet from PC to phone through USB cable?"

Hopefully, this is the right place to post this windows support issue!!!
I presume ur on Windows 7!, have no trial version of bluetooth software!, 'Bluetooth Support Service' is running and set to 'Automatic' & have no MAC address confects.
Download the 'Windows Mobile Device Center' from : h++p://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/device-center-download.mspx
Install the downloaded software, Vista automatically configures the settings on the bluetooth devices but not Windows 7.
Now go to 'Device Manager' u'll see 'Bluetooth Peripheral Device' under 'Other devices', right-Click it and click on "Update Driver Software".
Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software".
Click "Let Me Pick from a List of Device Drivers on my computer".
Select 'Bluetooth Radio' from the list, in the next window, it will show a list of drivers with Company Names.
In the Company List choose 'Microsoft Corporation', not only Microsoft.- the drivers list may contane one or more drivers with the name "Windows Mobile-Based Device Support" with different versions. Select one or the latest ver.-.
Ignore the rest of warnings and keep pressing next and then Finish at last.
If all goes well, the last screen will show the message that device driver is successfully installed.
In 'Device Manager' when you click on 'Bluetooth Radios', it should show a new item 'Windows Mobile-based device support'.
Remove the device and add it again.
Restart the computer.

Very nice! Thanks!
Oh neat!
This worked for me, may for others too. i use Win 7
Right click on My Computer.
Left click on Properties
On the left side of the Systems window, click on Device Manager.
Under "Portable Devices", Double click on the "MTP Device" probably with a yellow alert.
Click the Driver tab at the top of the window.
Click the "Update Driver" button.
Click "Browse my computer for driver software".
Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
Make sure you double-click the SECOND "MTP Device" in the list (the first one is the one that is failing, you want the USB one).
It should then say "Installing device driver software" and "Windows has successfully updated your driver software".
Now the "MTP Device" should pop up in a window asking you what you want to do with the device, and you should now be able to transfer all files from either internal or external memory again..
I'm using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2617918
this morning i unchecked the "Media Sync (MTP)" option then removed the cable, now my phone doesnt show up the connection type option in status bar (where i can select the "Media Sync (MTP)" and "Camera Sync (PTP)") when i connect via cable again
i didnt find any options relating to it under "Settings, i cant copy my old data to my phone, now im panic, any one has any solutions?
sorry my eng's bad
Go to settings / storage and pres menu button it should let you change USB connection type
LE: your link is broken but I assume you're using custom ROM not stock so try what I said hope it helps you
Can someone explain why connection of the P2XL to Windows 10 via USB is so troublesome?
At a minimum, each time I connect I have to:
1. Update the device driver via Windows Device Manager from "MTP Device" to "MTP USB Device" (there are two of these)
2. Tap on the P2XL notification "USB for Charging" to change it to "USB for File Transfer"
I have set "Select USB Configuration" in Developer Options to MTP, but this doesn't help.
How can I configure my phone to connect for MTP each time I connect it via USB?
Thanks

Are you using the USB adapter that came with the device, or a standard 2.0 USB A-C cable?
Using the white USB cables that came with the P2XL.
Try just using the charging cable connected to the PC, it's all I use to connect to my Win 10 PC, and the only thing I have to do is make sure the device is set to MTP, I never have to mess with drivers on the PC.
Are your drivers up to date? Are you saving any changes on the PC after making them? Not sure why you're getting the MTP Usb / MTP Device option unless it's related to using the dongle (which I never have)...
It's not Win10 dude, I connect a few times a week for Andromeda purposes, plug and go.

In my case it WAS Win 10. None of my phones would connect for MTP. I frequently use ADB and windows was trying to use those drivers by default. After messing around in device manager I finally was able to select the windows MTP drivers. After that all my phones were able to connect with windows via MTP.

Wtherrell how did you do that? my phone won't even show up on device manager
I I R C I had to delete all the old ones and start fresh. Some of the old ones were not obvious but somewhere on line or in the forums I found some clues about what to look for and delete. I wish I could remember exactly where but I can't at the moment.
