Camera on stock. 96 vs 4.4.4 - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Seems that the camera quality on stock is vastly Superior to any of the custom Roms, i.e. the 4.4.4 which are faster and are better in any regard except the camera.
Is there any way to improve the quality, like flash the stock camera?

[Q] stock aosp android cam app vs samsung s3 cam app?

Just curious if theirs a difference in the actual picture quality between these two camera apps. Was running more or less samsungs theme roms with their camera app and just recently started running a stock 4.1.1 rom.
Love the rom but it could just all be in my head, atleast on the phone the samsung camera app seems to take better pictures?
Can't quite recall if one app takes better pictures or not but the samsung camera app is a lot better than the aosp app.. So if i had to guess the samsung app may take better pics due to the better software
They are pretty equal. I can't think of many features that the stock camera app doesn't have that anyone would need. People are reporting that Camera MX from the play store improves photo quality on the sgs3 and gives a ton of additional features

[Q] Camera Quality depending on rom?

so i always wondered does our camera quality BETTER on STOCK TOUCHWIZ roms than on CM roms?
on me personally
when on TOUCHWIZ i can FOCUS this that are really up close.
but when i was on a CM roms i was not able to FOCUS this that were really up close.
(when i say up close i mean like 3 mm guessing lmao. )
As i see it, TW roms will almost always provide a better camera with more features. They built their firmware specifically for this camera, while cm is more generic and built to cover many devices.

Camera quality

Is it only me or that the camera quality is different when using a custom rom as compared to stock?

Try using Zoom Camera / Camera JB+/ Cam360 and see if you are able to get better picture quality.

The Camera quality differs because of the drivers and whether the custom ROM uses the same optimisations as the STOCK ROM.
Generally, AOKP or AOSP customs roms camera quality will be little poor comapred to Samsung Stock ROM.

Hmmm, yes I've been trying to find a way to get some of the camera quality again by using some apps but I'm unsure whether they'll be much of a difference or not.

I see, I thought it was only my eyes. Too bad it's one of the sacrifices we have to do to use custom roms.

Touchwiz camera vs Aosp camera app on stock android?

If I switch to stock android, will the picture and video quality be the same as it would be in touchwiz? I want to make the switch to stock android, but a fully functioning camera is important to me. I need the best video and picture quality thats possible on this hardware.
I actually like the aosp camera app more as far as photo quality/accuracy. The colors look way more accurate with the aosp camera. As far as functionality everything works great. I'm on slim ROM 2.2

I like the touchwiz camera better, I always experienced better quality and overall picture once you set it to the right settings.

[Q] what are the weakness of 4.1+ roms

Hello,
I have a arc s (lt18i) currently running ICS 4.0 (ultimate HD). I am considering switching to a 4.1+ but I have questions about what I am going to lose.
I read some disadvantages of 4.1+ roms, and I want to have precisions/informations about that :
HDMI is not possible with these ROMs. What is the exact cause of that ?
HD video recording (720p) seems not to be possible. Is that true ? it would be a great incovenience for me
Does the overall camera quality is the same as with ICS roms ?
thanks on advance for your answers.

1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1989501
2) there's some development going on regarding 720p... You may see it soon enough...
3) overall camera quality isn't as good as ics

another thing you'll miss is sony dialer app ,, and ICS sony camera is better than cm camera but on the other hand cm10 based roms are way faster and lighter and smoother than ics as for multitasking and games << if you were going to upgrade to 4.1 I suggest that u try super jelly bean rom
Thanks for your answer i was actually looking at SJB. How is exactly better the sony camera compared to the CM one.

Some games like NFS MW works smooth while little games like Candy Crush just lags a lot & crashes..
Agreed with both @Attitude.SSJ and @xkifah.
On JB, had been using SJB8 and Slimbean511 for quite a while, I'm afraid the sony camera (ICS) would be very much better.
I think SJB is stable and Slimbean is beautiful.
Try using the LuPuS(FULL) kernel for taking better foto / video.

most cm roms won't let u record 720p and for normal photos I don't know but photos taken with Sony camera just feels better than those taken with Google camera but there's a plenty of alternative camera apps on the market and some of them have really nice features in the end i guess that the goods surpass the bads so why don't u try it yourself as it wont do u any bad and see the difference yourself
4.1 most cm roms fastest than others but my think gaming better than others, for usual use its bad to using bro
Here nobody taking about FM radio, bro you will loose FM radio also after switching from ICS

To be specific, switching to 4.2 and above means losing radio, in 4.1 radio is working
