[Q] Is it safe to flash 4.4.4 GApps ? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

A dummy question,
Is it safe to flash latest Gapps (from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/standard-minimal-gapps-t2012857) on rooted stock D855 ?
Or will I brick it ?

Why would you flash gapps on a stock rom?

I also wish to do this. Get my G3 later! I thought after rooting stock and flashing this Gapps it'd remove LG's bloat ware and annoyances, etc. No/yes?

No. GAPPS contain bits like the playstore, camera libs, etc. GAPPS do not include anything essential to the phones use such as the dialer. It will not upgrade your version of android nor will it remove any LG bloat. Bad idea to flash GAPPS on a stock LG rom.

What I meant is to upgrade gapps to version 4.4.4, not android to 4.4.4.

1st of all we do not have a working recovery for flashing. secondly there is a reason your 4.4.2 phone doesn't get 4.4.4 google apps via the play store, if google changed the slightest thing in the 4.4.4 google apps framework you will be the proud owner of the all new bricked lg g3
so don't do it and wait for cm11 or lg

Hi! Why did you choose 10A and not the 10B as a base? It would be great if you could make a deodexed 10B stock rooted rom.

Bump.
What I've noticed is this;
I guess I have a d80210a, because that's what it says in bootloader text/info at the bottom...
If I Flash a version of a Rom that might be based on a "b" or "c" version, when I try to use LG R&D Flashtool to revert to genuine stock the prices will fail at approximately 49%. Then I can reboot and the already installed Rom will have survived the failed Flash attempt.
One thing this might tell me is that the specifics of the hardware and the current running software (Rom) is checked some time during LG R&D Flashtool process.
So, the versions at hand, a b and c might be connected to hw somehow and this won't matter (it haven't mattered for at least) until you try to revert pure stock.
Just my two cents of thoughts...

There is app, that works only on official software and with nfc card must be attached.
After update to 4.3 T-mob. released compatible app tah works on: (as thet wrote)

And now, what is what here ?!

What ROM can i flash to make it work (of course, stock is working, and example Jally Kat v3 also)
Or what should i add/flash to rom to make it compatible with abowe requirements...
In ex. if i would like to use it on PA or CM etc. (if it's possible o/c)

Hm, but DN3 is "stock like" rom & I'm trying to make MyWallet awaliable on "oryginal" roms, like PA/ASOP or CM etc.

Thx for your fast feedback. I have a general problem with cyanogenmod 12.1. on my phone (sorry, Samsung s3 i9300)
4.3. stock works with nfc and mywallet, but 5.1.1 cyanogenmod not (tried to modify build.prop, but without success). Mywallet detect something, what is not 4.3 ( and this normally correct
But in my case i would like to use mywallet with 5.1.1 (which is by the way much more safer then 4.4 .....stagefright etc...).

You probably won't find one that is still in development but Cloudy is quite popular stock KK based ROM, which also has a LL version for certain variants.

That I'm not 100% about. I use stock so haven't fiddled with it yet. But my guess would be no. That being said, you can easily try it. If it doesn't work (loops, bugs, etc), you can always restore your backup (which I do assume you'll do before flashing )

New to LG G3

I've been using Moto and samsung phones for a long time. I've become very familiar with sammys odin and loaded and modified many roms.
I just got the LG G3 851 (TMO) phone and have it running on cricket wireless. Did some research and have some questions if you can help out.
1)Can i flash 855 (international) roms?
2)No official Cyanogen roms but a couple CM based ones seem to be out there. Anyone use it as a daily driver? Known major issues? camera, wifi, sd card?
thanks

I just came to my first LG about a week ago after HTC EVO series, then S3, Note 3 and 4. Right now, I would recommend stock rooted, with SkyDragon kernel untouched. I froze about 67 elements, use xposed with gravity box, greenify, and a few other modules. On T-mo 10r, and tried several AOSP/CM/PA based, as well as a modified stock. It seems to me that until the official 5.02 official image is released, we are stuck with new problems with lolli, and old problems with old stock based. Best to setup what ya got the way you like it for now. Don't know if this is applicable to you on cricket, just sharing my experience/opinion. Good thing is that even full stock LG is around 700Mb smaller than Touchwiz. Just had to deal with locked bootloader for the first time in a while. Good luck!:good:

All the G3 variants have slightly different internals, so no, flashing anything that specifically doesn't say it will work for 851 is very bad and will give you a pretty new paper weight. The cyanogen site should have 851 on it to download.

Never used Trickstermod, so I can't tell you how it works on the G3. I know it's not on their official support list, but that doesn't mean it won't work either. No reason you can't install busybox if you are rooted.

Flash SkyDragon kernel, and use paid trickster, set according to OP kernel forum. I have 67 elements frozen via Titanium, use greenify, and SkyDragon on stock rooted. Get 30-64 hours depending. YMMV :good:

I'm not seeing any Firmware links, without the original firmware, there is little that can be done.
your best hope, maybe someone with this device will share a backup.
After Rooting a device, you need to be careful, deleting stock apps is permanent.
Next time make a backup/copy before deleting something, or just change file extension from .apk to .bak
