Hi,
As you may know, you cannot enter the secret codes (e.g. *#0011#, *#27663368378#...) on a device that has not been enabled the HiddenMenu.
I need someone to help me to test if these codes work on your device by using my app: Shortcut Master.
Here is how:
- Install Shortcut Master app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster.lite
- Go to menu 'Secret Code Explorer', select your desire code (e.g. 0011, 27663368378, 0228, etc...) and tap to launch it.
- You can select 'Launch 0' or 'Launch 1' to test if it work. 'Launch 0' requires ROOT access.
Please kindly test and feedback. Thanks.

Yes it need root to launch secret codes. It is due to Samsung security policy.
Disabled hidden menu. Reboot. Everything seems to still work. Granted, I started with hidden menu ON.
For your convenience, you can download the shortcuts list files and import in to the app.
- Android 4.3 Hidden Shortcuts.rar
- Samsung (Note 3) Hidden Shortcuts.rar
Phone INFO ★Samsung★ -- Update v2.0.0:
Improve 'Refurbishment Check' function.
Tks.
Some worked some didn't from the list your app provided. The ones that didn't said something to the effect that it was using memory and was a security risk. I just picked random ones to see if it worked.

What an interesting app.
In my brief test everything worked as advertised. A few have error dialogues in the form of toasts. They are complaining about memory and security issues. Someone above had the same issue.
I hope you are still developing this, lots of potential to be had!

I made an app for easy access to the service menu's on the Galaxy S. I made it on the Vibrant so if anyone is willing to try it on the I9000 and leave me some feed back it would be much appreciated.
The app can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=772690
Installed it on a stock Galaxy S and it seems to work fine.
After you select an item (i.e. GPS) it temporary brings up the Telephone keypad then goes straight to the service menu without any further intervention.
However, when you have finished altering items and come back out it again takes you again to the Telephone keypad where this time you then have to hit 'back' once again to come out.... Is this correct?
Yes this is correct. The program is just typing all those crazy service codes into the dialer for you, so you dont have to remember them all. Thank You for the feedback it is much appreciated.

Do any of the options work or are they all broke on the epic? If some work, which ones?
None work, I'm not rooted maybe that's why???? To confirm I'm using the app properly. I launch the app, select a setting, it launches the dialer, and instead of then launching the service menu, nothing happens.., if I press the Send, it attempts to make a phone call. I tried for all of them, as I was hoping to get this to work.
Thats strange. You should not have to be rooted. Sounds to me like samsung changed the codes for access on the epic. I will do some research into this. Can you type a code manually in the dialer and let me know what happens? For example this should show your your IMEI number: *#06#
EDIT: I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7973675
It appears the secret codes are not working at all on the epic, so it is not the program. It seems these menu's were locked out or removed (possibly at sprints request).
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Ya nothing works when I press the factory format it tells me it will erase everything but I'd rather not see what happens next. Thanks for your efforts maybe verizon will remove the codes too.

Through ample time of tinkering with settings I finally have it up and running lag free!
What you'll need:
Market Helper app (Google it)
GLTools in the play store
Open market helper and set your device to "tabled" and model to "asus transformer". By doing this the play store will display apps and games designed for tablets. Go to play store and download "commander". Now install and open "gltools" you will need a custom kernel such as the govnaaa in order for it to install. Open the gltools app and select commander and set the following
*Enable custom settings for this application.
*Optimize GLSL Shaders
*Use fake GPU info
*Use fake CPU info
*Use A template (nvidia tegra4 shield)
Exit gltools and launch commander BOOM it works!
These are not my apps and take no credit for them.

Like the guy above me. Galaxy S5 running CM12. After tapping "activate", it'll go up to "doing magical things" and then says unfortunately market helper has stopped working.
Any ideas how to resolve this? Can't get Xposed because it's not compatible with S5 yet apparently too. Sad face..

I just updated to F240K20h and found that it breaks compatibility with Knock Code. SlideAside still works fine.
Set knock code as unlock method, but the grid doesn't show on the lock screen, just the pin pad. Slide aside works.

Yup. Same thing. I could set the knock code in the settings but after locking the phone, it takes me to the pin screen and as it doesn't accept my actual pin, i have to enter 5 wrong pins to get forgot pin button and enter my actual pin to unlock the phone. And yes slide aside works.
Make sure you set permissions correctly before reboot.

Are you saying that the screen can be awakened by knock? I thought that was a feature specific to Snapdragon 800 series devices and kernel related code was required to make it work.
No, it is purely an unlocking type - when you wake your phone a grid overlays that you tap based on the pattern you set up.

Did you actually set the PIN during the knockcode setup? Is knockcode selected as the unlocking function? It should work fine if you did set it up correctly.

I really like the SlideAside feature. It's almost like a multiwindow feature like on Samsung devices, but saves screen space.
I haven't tried the knock code feature, but I'm going to pass on that anyway. I just have no interest in any of LG's "Knock" features. I mean, I might learn to like them if I had native implementation of them on my phone, but I think that even if I had the G2, I'd probably disable the features (assuming the power button is eay to press I guess)
.
@JaySee5:
Did you modify the files in any way to make the SlideAside option appear in the Settings?
If not, I'm wondering if the Jelly Bean Aspect Ration Correction feature can be ported into KitKat and still appear in the settings list. It was just a system file from what I recall. I'd try it myself, but I lost all my Jelly Bean backups. They were all on my phone and when upgrading to Kitkat, the internal SD got wiped.
(I really need this aspect ratio option back. I rely on some old apps that dont display correctly on my phone now).
I didn't do anything. This is other peoples' work. I just made a thread for it so everyone can find it easily.

I'm just throwing this here:
After having Slide Aside working flawlessly for a full day, the app and system began crashing after about a day.
Slide Aside would crash if you try to add more than 1 app.
Settings would crash whenever you accessed a system-made apps list (I don't know how else to explain this). The only way to fix this is to factory reset the phone.
An example would be Settings>Apps
In fact, I was able to repeat this crash every time by going to Settings>Apps then scrolling over to "All."
If I scrolled down the list at any speed, Settings would crash at the exact same point.
Another example would be the apps list in Titanium Backup, which is not system-made. This means that the problem does not occur in this app,
I'm not sure yet if this is actually caused by SlideAside or GravityBox. The latest version of GravityBox (which I'm using obviously), has a changelog entry stating, "Fixed severe bug in AppPicker affecting ring targets/quick app tile icons." This COULD be the culprit, but I'm not sure yet. I'm currently debugging the issue though. I just factory reset the phone and updated GravityBox and don't have SlideAside installed. Everything is working as expected ow, but I'm going to give it a couple days to see if the problem happens again. If not, then I'll install SlideAside and repeat.

I still wonder if the Aspect Ratio Correction file can simply be copied to the system and have its permissions set correctly- no editing of the file's programming. Then maybe the setting will appear... Hmmmmmm

Just an FYI: This feature needs a special kernel to support it. There were some Jelly Bean roms that included a modified kernel, but they were only working on the E988, from what I remember.
Even those kernels weren't perfect though. People reported high battery drain.
I heard that the Note 4 has Download Booster on it, but I haven't been able to find it yet. Anyone find it yet?

The phone has it just like the S5 but it is hidden. If you use a third party launcher you can unlock it. Using Nova Launcher for example, you can go to your home screen and click add a shortcut > click activities > click settings > then scroll down and you should be able to find download Booster. You can then use that to enable download booster. But otherwise it will be hidden in your actual settings menu until a developer unlocks with a mod or something.

It's not gonna show up in your actual settings because it's hidden by default by your carrier. Some developer will have to make a mod to have it show up in your settings but now you'll just have to go through the shortcut you make yourself.

You simply asked what Package Disabler is. I never said you needed it to get you service mode working. If *#0*# wasn't working before, installing that app isn't going to help.
I'm not sure I understand what your motive is. At the beginning of this thread you said you're trying to check if your fingerprint scanner is working. After looking at the options in my service mode menu, I don't even see anything regarding the scanner.
After re-examining the service menu (*#0*#), there is a fingerprint sensor test under the general sensor test area.
I don't know why you're not able to access it, though.
