Hi all-
just received my E970 yesterday, got it unlocked but still stock otherwise running on Rogers in Canada.
I've been reading a few threads here so far regarding rooting and the locked bootloader and some people seem to be implying that the S4 Pro chipset is an entirely software LTE radio. Does this mean that flashing a new firmware could change the LTE bands that a given phone supports?
ie: the AT&T E970 supports AWS 1700/2100 (Band 4) and 700mhz (Band 17) out of the box. Could this theoretically be loaded with software from the Rogers E971 with 2600mhz (Band 7) or the DoCoMo L-01E 2100mhz (Band 1) support? Obviously this would be baseband software not just a new OS ROM, but is it possible with the hardware or is this a non-editable function?
If anyone can provide insight or software I would be interested to test- as I am lacking the *special* 2600mhz support of the E971 here, and I do travel to HK and Japan occasionally, so support for 1800, 2100 and 2600mhz bands would be great, turning the Optimus G into a real worldphone even on LTE.

Thanks for the attitude.
I didn't say I expected to do this today, jackass. I asked if this will be technically possible as the models released appear to all have the same hardware specifications. Hopefully someone less smug, with more knowledge could provide real insight?
Sorry, should I be asking less technical, more brutally-important questions like when will Nova Launcher, or a different colour skin be available?

Just curious, where did you get your E970 from? I'm in Canada too and I would rather have the SD card slot than the extra 2600 mhz band.

That's a good question. It definitely sounds possible if you can flash the corresponding radio/modem and RIL.

Is it possible or do I need to get a new phone?
I don't think so...but give it a whirl

The D-852 supports the 1700 MHz band, but apparently not the 2100 MHz one. My understanding is that you will need both bands to use the device with Wind. Unlock the phone and try it out!

This is correct. Unlocking wont make it magically work. You may need to get the International version D855 or a TMobile Version.
i don't think it will work in wind. Since Wind is using AWS as their HSPA network(not lte) and D852 doesn't have support AWS in HSPA. So i think you might need D851(Tmobile) for wind network.
i don't think international will work, since it is not support AWS.
Don't think the T-mobile version would work either

I don't think the D851/T-Mo supports 2100 MHz either (at least I did not see the band listed in the FCC test reports for the model)
i did it with qpst and mztool !
You keep saying this, but not showing or providing proof bin01t
Is there any possibility to enable Lte band3 1800 MHz on Tmobile D851 model?
If all g3 variants have same Cpu then why almost all variants cant enabled all 4g bands?
Any guide/help?

My cousin just moved from Asia to Canada and wanted to use his HTC One M8 on wind
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one_(m8)-6074.php
based on the my information wind needs 1700/2100 bands for 3g but dose that mean the phone would need both? It seems to have the 2100 band but not the 1700 band. Is this a software restriction that I can get around by flashing the t-mobile firmware? Is the phone having just the 2100 band enough?
Thanks for any help in advance

Yeah, that will work on Wind with no issues. AWS (something you probably saw when checking on Google) means 1700/2100, and that is something that Wind supports.
Hi, does anyone know which bands the T-Mobile G7 supports? I'd like to use one on AT&T but can't seem to find verification of which bands it supports.
Thanks!
