I have question, my sprint phone has 4g service but I have no service. And it not connected to wifi. Anyone know how this can be? And its not rooted. I have been without service for 3 months. Anyone know how this can be?

Go to settings>more> about phone>status.
Under status what does it say under "mobile type" and "mobile network state"?
three months of no service? I would call sprint. Assuming you're on a stock rom.

I live on a island got sprint but signal sucks there is a verizon tower is there a verizon baseband that i could put on my evo i know the sprint hero has a verizon baseband that works???
Can't do that but you can either a. Force roam wo evdo service or try a prl load that will connect to Verizon tower w evdo service.

I am in a similar situation, so I run CyanogenMod 6.0 and force roam by going to wireless settings/mobile networks/ then choosing affiliated networks.
Works well!
Will i loose my internet if i force roam?

Go back and read rutter9's response. I use that method and it works perfectly. No extra charges yet you get the better signal and speed of the verizon network.
but sprint dont charge roaming?
No...sprint doesn't charge roaming.
Read the thread that was linked. It'll give you all the info you need.

Actually, I was on the phone with Sprint a couple weeks ago and I inquired about data roaming. They confirmed what others have said in regards to data roaming cap---->300mb
Some have stated that they haven't been charged for anything in excess of that 300mb cap but sooner or later it's bound to catch up with them. My advice would be to lobby for a free Airave from Sprint if you live in a low signal area...
I cannot for the life of me get the 3G working with no roaming signal (using VERIZON mnvo service).
Is it possible to flash a radio from a similar phone (if any exist?) from Verizon to the EVO4G to make it all work out?
So I got my new Xperia Play last night and found it has a very odd issue, it's always roaming. I don't really care except you can't activate a Verizon phone while roaming. I do the *228 and it eventually says "activation failed"
I live in downtown Portland OR so there is no shortage of VZ towers and my roommates phone on VZ gets a non-roaming signal just fine. Also when setting network to "home-only" and forcing it to use VZ towers I get no signal. I can't make it into VZ until Tuesday to get it sorted out so I was hoping someone might have an idea on how to fix this.
and I could probably find a phone to have customer service deal with it but I really enjoy working with phones and I haven't seen this issue before so I'm curious about a solution. Thanks for any help you can give,
- Jon
I ran into a similar issue, try turning on mobile broadband and then turning roaming to home only...

The mobile broadband is on, but when I set it to home only I get no signal at all. I still only get a signal with roaming but I cant activate with a roaming signal.
I'm sorry if this was covered somewhere else but I've been unable to verify which (if any) ROM allows you to force roaming. I'm on Sprint and go to the San Bernardino (CA) mountains every weekend where there's almost no coverage. My sons on Verizon and his phone not only works but also has data coverage up there. I have another 1.5 years left on contract (5 lines) so don't suggest I change to Verizon. That will come at the end of my contract.
I purchased Roam Control but the developer is not supporting the app and the program won't register to allow me to use it. I'm not the only one with this problem.
Does any of the ROMS developed for the Epic 4G Touch on Sprint have the ability to force roaming on Verizons network? My phone is stock but rooted. I have flashed different business PRl's to see if any of them would enable the phone to roam with no luck. Tried going where there's no signal, turn off phone then turn on to see if the phone would automatically connect to the Verizon signal once it see's that there's no Sprint signal but no luck.
We have no internet or phone service so wifi's not an option. I can walk around and eventually get a signal to make a call but have no data at all.
Walking around to find a signal is not always an option.
I've been a lurker on here for years and figured if you guy's don't know, then nobody will know.

Thank you. Roam Control now works. I'll try it out next weekend and report back so anyone who is following will know the results. Thanks again.
I'm aware this is the sprint thread- my model is the SM-G920P (sprint) i unlocked it and using tmobile service.
works fine and dandy- LTE service on normal use
However, Tethering speeds are dramaticly lowered- is this a frequency/LTE band issue? I see that Tmobile LTE bands are 2,4,12; while Sprints are 25,26,41. Is .... is that why?? Or is there something else wrong in my rooted device?
Other things- i dont konw if this is normal: but I have LTE coverage, and i see the LTE sign on the phone- but when on call it switches to 3G . not that it matters- but is that normal??
SM-G920P MM, rooted, stock.
thanks for any help given
EDIT: This is a second hand phone- I never tried the tethering on a sprint service to see if its the same thing- that would help narrow my issue down. I called Tmobile- theres no account throttling on their side.
So when I had T-Mobile on a T-Mobile phone, they tracked tethering and throttled me. Only with a VPN was I able to tether without throttle. They could just be throttling your speeds, I honestly wouldn't be shocked knowing T-Mobile.
Also, I believe the reason you switch to 3g on calls is because of what was stated above, these phones physically don't have the hardware to support it.

I also have an unlocked SM-G920P running on Metro PCS with LTE fully working, but I can't even get the hotspot and tethering section to show up in the settings. How did you get it to show up?
Hi all, I have Sprint and I get awful reception in my new home. Back in the day, we used to have an option to manually update the PRL file on the phone and it would connect to Verizon or another cell provider. Is there a chance that this option or modification is still available? I guess my question is, do any ROMs offer roam only settings, or is there a way to manually roam. Sprint doesn't seem to care whether I get service or not, so I have to do some manual intervention on this. Any insight would be appreciated.

There are apps like Signal Spy that are made for Project Fi users to manually switch networks since that service is supposed to pick the strongest signal from among 3 networks used on Fi. But there are a lot more networks listed than the ones Fi uses. If you have roaming enabled on your phone maybe you could switch to a different network manually even though you aren't a Fi customer.
By the way, I'm assuming you have a Pixel XL based on where you posted your question. It's more likely an issue with the phone than Sprint. I was on Sprint for years via Virgin Mobile and 100.00 CDMA only phones were much better at picking up the Sprint signal than my 900.00 Pixel XL is. I'm on Fi where Sprint is one of the carriers and Sprint shows no service all over the city which I know is not the case.
I believe with sim cards now, the prl is automatically updated, at least that is what Verizon told me

Thank you for the info. I'm on the Pixel XL, but my gf has the same problem on an S7 edge. I put in my project fi Sim to see if t mobile was any better, but both seem to be weak at my house. I'll give the app a try. Thanks again

I had a feeling that was the case. I wish there was a way to modify the SIM card. Thanks for verifying that, it must be easier for them to keep us from editing the files.

Verizon works that way, but this is one of the areas where Verizon and Sprint are different in how they implemented 4G LTE. Another example is that customers can switch sim cards between 4G LTE phones on Verizon, while you have to follow Sprint's procedure to switch service between LTE phones.

I haven't used Sprint, and I also haven't tried to pull a PRL off this phone, yet this is what Sprint's website returns.

I've never used sprint because they always roam off Verizon where I live. The nearest native coverage is about 25 miles from where I live. That's good to know.
Sometimes if you aren't stuck with a contract it's a matter of finding who has the best network near you. I was on Sprint via Virgin Mobile for over 10 years and the network was great everywhere I went. Unfortunately Virgin Mobile won't let you bring your own phone so when I got a Nexus I switched to AT&T via Cricket. I couldn't get any phone reception at all in whole rooms in my apartment. It was brutal. After months of putting up with that I switched to Project Fi. I get good reception in my apartment with both Sprint and T-Mobile, although my Nexus 6P preferred T-Mobile and for some reason the Pixel XL prefers Sprint. Sometimes I have to manually switch to T-Mobile because Sprint reception is much spottier than it should be and Fi doesn't always switch on its own.
