[Q] Internal memory becoming low whenever i clear cache - Sony Xperia M

Hi,
I'm using Xperia M (Android 4.1.2). I used to free up space in interanal memory by clearing cache and whenever i cleared cache memory will get freed. But now for some apps if i clear cache internal memory remains the same or sometimes free memory will decrease instead of increasing. Can anyone explain y this is happening? I'm clearing cache from the Settings itself, not by using any app.
Regards,
Nijas

Cache out of space

Im trying to install some application updates from the market. They will not download because in CATLOG I see "NOT ENOUGH SPACE LEFT" ... the cache folder has 420K available. I tried uninstalling apps I never use but that didnt help.
What can I do to reolved this? I am using SPRINT LOVERS ROM which doesnt support moving the cache to the SD card. ANY ideas would be appreciated....
Update: I erase the dalvik-cache folder and when it re-created, I have 7.4MB of free space.. BUT the program I need to update is a 15MB download ... I removed a few more programs but still not enough space.. What I ended up doing is using ROOT EXPLORER to DELETE the entire contents of the DALVIK CACHE then do into market and it downloaded.
Is there a way I can determine what programs are using the most space in the cache folder? I need to free up space so I would have to unistall more programs but I only want to uninstall large programs (ones that will give me enough free space back)
Have you wiped your cache partition from the recovery? If that and wiping the market's cache doesn't help you'll probably need to uninstall some apps.

Click to collapse
Yes I did that.. BUT it rebuilds the cache and its filled up again. is there a utility I can use to see which programs take up the most cache space??
So what this basically means is that you have too many apps installed to be able to put your dalvik cache on the cache partition. By default it's on the data partition, and NOT the cache partition, but some ROMs move it to the cache partition by default. Or maybe you moved it there.
The idea of moving dalvik to the cache partition to free up space for more apps is self defeating. I don't get why anyone does it. The more apps you have, the more space you need for dalvik. So if you've run out of space on /data with dalvik there, you're probably at or will soon pass the point where you have too many apps to fit your dalvik on /cache. If you have few enough apps that you can fit dalvik on /cache, you probably could just leave it on /data anyway.
Basically, either:
1. Keep dalvik and the apps on /data. This may not work for you based on the fact that you've got a lot installed already.
2. Move dalvik to an ext3 partition if you've set one up.
3. Move apps to an ext3 partition, and leave dalvik on /data
4. Move both apps and dalvik to an ext3 partition.
Find the darktremor a2sd thread for details on how to do any of those.

dalvik cache increase?

Im running SPRINT LOVERS ROM and they have the dalvik cache under the /cache folder.. I have uninstalled all of the apps I no longer need and I only have 11M free in the dalvik cache.. this is OK except for a program called COPILOT where its needs close to 15M to install updates when they come out. Is there any way to increase this space? I have used APP2SD and move all that I could and also used TITANIUM BACKUP to force apps to SD but I still need to make more space in the dalvik cache. any way? dont want to reformat my phone or sd card and mess up things..
Mine is set at 48mb

[Q] Storage Leak Problem on Desire/GB

I have HTC Desire with InsertCoin GB ROM 1.05 (not CM), used just for several days. Of course, almost all apps are moved to SD storage except few like Go Apps and small system utilities.
Today I started to get message that storage space is too low - just about 200K. I have moved GoSMS app to SD, then Gmail, and process hangs. GoSMS successfully moved to SD, while Gmail simply disappeared at all. After restart free space on internal memory left only 100K (yes, even less space then before).
Fixing permissions from ROM manager didn't help, so I wiped out cache partition. Free space increased to 65MB. Wiping dalvik cache increased it further to 72 MB.
I have very few data on phone, several hundred contacts and 20 SMS messages, virtually nothing else.
Now DiskUsage app reports this data:
Data - 194.7 MiB
Applications - 122 MiB
Free - 72.7 MB
I feel something is not right there. I can't understand why there so much data - almost 195 MB. Looks like some app draining free space on internal memory. I did video recording today on SD card, may be video recorder is buggy? I also had Locus map for some time, but then I deleted it with Uninstaller App.
Another possible clue - HTC Car Panel uses 50 MB for maps. Where they are? On internal memory?
Anyone can suggest what could cause this problem?
Thanks in advance for any suggestion(s).
Dalvik cache is on the internal memory and can be huge depending on apps installed
try moving the dalvik cash to your SD, you can use Terminal off the market to move it, youll also need busybox - take a look http://code.google.com/p/android-roms/wiki/A2SD
Also InsertCoin may have an option to move it using a pre-installed app, i know RCMix s 1.7 as a cool app to do it, i would be surprised in the InsertCoin builds didn't have it as well.
Or use a data2sd RoM and have the worry of space gone

[Q] Low Space Issues on Skyraider Sense 4.2

I just tried installing Skyraider Sense 4.2. In the process of restoring my apps through Titatnium Backup, I got the Low Space Wizard to appear. I have gone through many times and moved almost all of my apps to SD and cleared any cache that may have appeared in the 24 hrs that I have had it running. I even tried wiping Data/Cache and Dalvik Cache in CWM and when I started restoring it did the same.
My phone should have plenty of space for these apps. I had them all installed in CM7 with plenty of room to spare. What can I do to fix this?
Anybody have any ideas? I got most of my apps to restore but then it still gives me the message even after I clear my cache and uninstall some apps. I have 470+ MB free in my internal app space but it still gives me the error...
Check your data/data partition and look into an app called "not enough space".
Go to manage apps and see which is at the top and clear its data ... if it Facebook near the top then don't use HTC Facebook
Sense has a built in Low Space Wizard that I have used and I have cleared out all the data and moved all the apps over to SD that could be moved. The data/data partition has plenty of free space too...

[Q] Insufficient Storage Available

I'm absolutely stumped here so I'm reaching out to the XDA community a LG tech support is pretty useless at this point. Should have reached out here first anyway.
My LG G3 is rooted running stock 4.4.2. According to the memory settings I've got the following:
System ROM 2.64 GB with 744 MB free
Internal Storage of 26.8 GB with 16.2 GB free
External SD Card of 62.8 GB with 26.9 GB free
I've cleared the system and apps cache, cleared dalvik cache, cleared Google Play store cache, uninstalled Google Play updates.
After that I'm stumped on what to do.
Anyone have any thoughts or ideas about what to do short of a hard reset?
Try this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/help/fix-insufficient-storage-error-app-t2181601 It's helped me out in the past.
