Looool, this is the most random question ever. Though i do think that it is impossible
Nothing is impossible. I do believe it can be done, but it would probably recquire changind certain code inside the games. But I believe certain apps and games that have controller compatibility could get such a feature, with some decent coding.
It is possible, the question is is it worth coding it?
This could be an interesting idea for developers to implement in their games.
So the changes have to be done from inside the game rather than on the phone with some apps?

Either 'could' work. I have no idea how to code it, but I have some ideas that may work with serious coding knowlegde.
easy, use a key mapper to map your key to a virtual button on the screen, you can place where the screen shall be touched when you press your key (if you know what I mean) like have a part of the touch screen that week be pressed when you press your button, for example if that space was to be over top of the shoot button, when you press your camera button your shoot button on screen will be pressed
Tincore KeyMapper: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tincore.and.keymapper
This app recognised all hardware keys.. Phone hardware keys or external game pads as game pad connected on the phone. As soon as u start a game and go to settings it will show that gamepad is found and all u need is click on the requires button for the respective function

My phone is rooted, but I dont think multi tasking was working before I rooted it. I read somewhere to multi task, long press the Back button in a app, but nothing happens when i do that. Ive tried long pressing the Home button too but it only displays Recently opened apps, not all the apps on my phone. How do I get multi tasking to work, this is a really big deal to me.
Thanks
No multi tasking on at&t yet
ATT always takes forever, my phone is rooted, anyway I can get it without ATT?
You mean multi window. Multitasking works fine.

Seems like folks are asking for Multi Window functionality. Currently there is no official update that will deliver Multi Window (multi tasking) option. However, there are several custom ROM available that will allow you to use it. I personally use Jedi ROM and Multi Window works very well.

Nope, does not work for me, holding Home only brings up recently opened apps, not all apps on my phone. Why is this not working, could it be a setting?

I think you are confused as to what multitasking is. Multitasking is being able to quickly switch between open or recently opened apps. If you want to view all apps on your phone, you just open the app drawer by clicking the Apps button on your home screen.

So I only can switch to open or recently opened apps? For example I cant switch from my internet browser to an app that is not open or recently open. I have to close my browser in order to open a app that has not been open recently?

You could hit the home button and leave the browser running in the background. Open the other app, and if you want to switch back to your browser, hold the home button and click on the browser. You'll be exactly where you left off. Then if you want to switch back to the other app, do the exact same thing. Hold the home button and switch to it. You will be where you left off in that app.

He basically said neither was working for him. If you want multitasking, it works as I explained earlier. If you want multi-window, the only way to get it is through a custom ROM at the moment, or wait for the AT&T update.

Basically hitting the back button will leave the current app running so you won't lose your place then open another app. THen you can hold the home button to switch back and forth between them (or other apps).
At this point I'm really considering rooting and flashing a custom ROM so I can take advantage the multi-window function (and get rid of AT&T bloat apps).

App killer
Cyanogenmod 10.1 has a button on the multitasking menu to do that. But it's kinda pointless except to clear the list of recently used apps. Android, if my understanding is correct, automatically fills the memory with tasks so killing apps is worse than pointless since you're just causing the system to prioritize unused background processes over the ones that you use more often.

You should listen to this guy. I know you're coming from a different OS, so you aren't aware of how Android deals with memory. The system is very good at multitasking. Apps that have been idling in the background will be pushed out and won't consume resources or ramp up your CPU. By killing those apps, you force the system to have to reload and process resources necessary to start the app. Android will keep enough of the resources to quickly fire up the app, but restrict activity so that your battery is pretty much unaffected.
An analogy if you need it: Android will bookmark and close whatever you were reading. That way, you can move the book around or leave it on the shelf and quickly pick it up and continue from the last page you were on. You are requesting that the system instead just closes the book, and buries it in a box with other books, and which is located in the attic. It takes more resources to find the book and locate the page again. Just let Android do its thing. Any popular dev will tell you the same thing.
TL;DNR - Don't use a task killer, you will get far better battery life and performance if you let the system deal with system resources.

Don't listen to this guy. He used the phrase "smart one," which I haven't heard since I was in elementary school (and I thought it was un-clever and uselessly sarcastic then). He also thinks that swiping away apps from the recents menu kills them. This is not how Android works. AOKP devs will not implement a recents menu that actually does let you swipe to kill apps because it's a useless feature that does more harm than good (zero benefit, actually). Just trust that your system knows how to handle its resources.
TL;DNR - Swiping away apps from the recents menu doesn't kill them. Stop trying to kill apps; only do so if they're unresponsive.
If u really want it, aokp has this feature

Let's say I start loading a web page and quickly jump to another app before it's loaded, then when I return to Chrome the page is ready and waiting. Doesn't this imply that apps are not just simply bookmarked and closed, but may remain active in the background? I am asking, not saying btw.

Foreground apps are told that they are no longer in view, but are allowed to keep running if they wish. The OS will stop them if the memory is needed - which with 2GB is not very often on the nexus 4!
So Hung0702 was wrong on the last page when he said:

It seems as though background apps can use resources and may have a negative impact on battery. Now I have got to the bottom of this I also want a clear all button!

Yes, they can keep using resources in the background. However, they will usually not keep the cpu awake unless they have an actual background service, so they will not stop the device from sleeping. As far as I know this is not enforced, but most apps will release the wakelock when told to pause by the OS (because the app is now hidden). This means they shouldn't have much impact on battery life.
You can see what is currently running by going to Settings -> Apps and select the Running tab. The recent apps list is not the same - most will have actually closed when you hid them.
Is there a way to prevent apps that you long press home for and minimize to open another app, thus causing it to restart?
I think I get what your asking, but can you ask again with a little more detail and explanation of what your asking?
Okay, say i'm playing a game, I minimize the game to open up a program, and when I open the 2nd program and do what I have to do, and full screen the first app that I originally minimized, that app almost always reloads from the beginning like I closed out of the app.

yup that's the problem with 512 mb RAM
if you're rooted, flash turbo Boost mod which increases the RAM
"Lack" of ram is the main issue here
There's an option in the settings that kills every app when you minimize it, if that's what you need, just give a look

I have a note 2 and maybe a long time ago I downloaded apps which might have caused a problem on my phone and I thought I removed the apps but the problem is still there months later.
Basically random apps are added to my phone. I don't think they are actually downloaded to my phone because I can't see them in my app list but over time it's clogged up all my free home pages with icons for the apps. Now that all the space is taken it will say no space for shortcut.
I'm not sure how to get rid of this problem. Help please?

I use to store application to Samsung Kies
From what this sounds like, you have shortcuts on your home screen that are to non installed apps. Try pressing and holding the app until a menu comes on the top of the screen, keep holding and drag it to either "Uninstall" or "Remove"
I hope this helps
Id say back up what you need and fctory reset.
Assuming these arent just latent shortcuts and a bad launcher....
You could, try avast (incase it virual); you could remove all non - essential apps one-by-one (I would start by opening the playstore and looking at your apps to find the ones with the lowest reviews, read the comments.); you could try a new launcher and forget about the old homescreens, if these appeared there you would know something is afoot.
Many of you will be aware of this app already and I've long used it on my mobile phones. Great thing is it works with Android TV too.

Remap Google Play button to Play Store
Infinite options if you can remember your configuration.
Helpful
I used this in sony XH900. Working but there is a bug. When i keep pressed volume it doesn't go up/down. I need to press multiple times to increase / decrease volume more.. Is there any solution for this? I don't use it for this reason although it would be very useful otherwise..

I finally bought a Android TV box with official certified Android TV on it. I bought the Mecool KM series - because it has Ethernet and I had bad experience with the Mi Box - Its' WiFi and CPU gradually deteriorated after 1 month of use.
I have used this app too, but I could only remap the home button and even then the "all apps" showed up so I had to additionally press the back button. Then I used the other app Keyboard/Button Mapper which worked for the home button, but I still wanted to remap the "Prime Video" button, so I made my own and posted for free here on XDA for all to use and check if it's working for you: Prime Video / Netflix Button Mapper . This app works a bit different from those previous apps because it doesn't use key codes and no extra system permissions are needed. But it has its drawbacks... check out the thread and comment!

You have to give some permission in addition to the accessibility because only the neflix button does not detect the others if
Other apps mentioned here work thru special permissions.
My apps replace the original apk (if possible / if it's not a system app) and does not need special permissions.
