So, not quite sure how to explain this but I'll give it a try
Every time I try to watch a movie on xbmc on my fire tv I get this weird issue after a few minutes playing the video, the screen goes black and there is just a " band " on the top of the screen with green and other weird colored " pixels " it's like big squares in mostly green but also blue and pink and so on,, sound works just fine and continues as normal, as soon as I stop the video and go back to xbmc everything looks just as normal, any idea why this is happening? And what it could be?

Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone experience regular crash with XBMC when loading several videos back to back? Say for instant, I would finish watching 4 episodes and load up the fifth video, XBMC crash back to the FTV home-screen. I tested out loading any five videos and it does the same. Seem like XBMC is not releasing the memory back to android and just crash.
But then again, I have no idea either but just speculating.
Mine does this also, hopefully 13.2 has the fix.

I have 13.1 gotham ARM build installed on Fire TV. Now the screen is split, there are multiple screens .

i tried clearing cache and forced stop but did not work. I works normal normal when clear all the data but of course all the data is gone and have to start fresh again.
This happens randomly sometimes while browsing add-ons and sometimes while trying to play something.
Has anyone come up with such problems? How did you fix it?
Update: Fixed the issue by restoring the video settings to default.
..
I see that for a split second before a video starts to play sometimes, but never had it stick... Thanks for the follow up on how to resolve...
Amber Skin
I get it on Amber Skin right after pressing STOP (for 1-2 seconds).
I'm using SPMC (Frodo based), no restore video settings option... any ideas?
I had this happen when I was testing all the keys on a Logitech Dinovo mini keyboard to see what they would do. I believe it was"\" that did it and I believe it is setting XBMC to use Windowed mode instead of fullscreen.
Hope this helps some.
My Kodi has been acting weird lately. I have been getting a black screen randomly when I try to go back to my video files. Also sometimes playing a video will go to a black screen. Pressing the center button doesn't show the onscreen controls anymore. The only way I can get the controls to show up is to press back button. Then the Menu selections show up but I have a black screen in the background. It's almost as if the default blue bubble background screen has been erased.
I have tried to delete kodi and reinstall and gets the same problem. I have tried SPMC and it seems to get the same problem after a few days.
Anyone knows what might be causing this?
Same issue here. Are you using the Krypton Nightlies?

No, I'm not. I have been using 16.1 that is the stable release.
What is weird is that I have tried SPMC and I get that black screen also sometimes. I also noticed that my Nexus Player seems to get this to happen lately also. I think the Nexus Player uses a different KODI since it's Intel based but I still get the same problems.
Do you think there is a problem with Kodi in general?
I'm having the same problem! It sucks. And I'm not very tech savvy lol if anyone figures it out please relay the info ?
Hi,
my unrooted Gen 1 Fire TV stopped working out of a sudden. All Apps and the menu works flawlessly but when i start a video - no matter if i use Netflix, Prime Video or Youtube - nothing happens. The screen goes black or sometimes i see the first frame of the video but it doesn't start. After a couple of seconds the error message "DEVICE_REBOOT_REQUIRED" appears. I already tried to reset to factory defaults and disconnected it from power for a couple of hours.
Is this a know issue and can i do something about it?
Thanks
Maybe try setting your default video quality to a lower setting and see if you have any different results. I've never seen this but if it's video only related maybe its trying to change resolution and causing the issue?
I disconnected it again - for 12 hours - and now it works again. ?!
Hello everyone,
I am using a 65OLED903/12 on android 8 and have an odd issue: when I am watching 4K UHD HDR content (does not matter which app is doing tha playback), I do get quick black screen blips from time to time. The screen goes totally black for a fraction of a second and then continues the plaback. This behavior is sometimes reproducable to specific scenes in the playback. I observed the issue some time ago and am not realy sure which stream caused this, I just remebered to ask about this.
Did or does anyone else experience this behavior?
Cheers
