Bootloader unlock - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know that it isn't unlocked yet but will it get unlocked? I usually order international ones because they are unlocked easy. Will this be the same?

Is the nexus stock unlocked?

I am going to order a nexus from Rogers in Canada. Is the nexus unlocked from the start, just wondering? Or can carriers lock it?
They're "locked" out of the box, but to unlock it I just used a simple program available on the development boards. You'll also need the ADB drivers to connect.
FYI mine is a CDMA Verizon phone. Very easy to unlock.

Yours shipped with an unlocked bootloader ? Was it a test device? Or are you referring to a sim lock?

I bought my Galaxy Nexus from Rogers, and its unlocked. Just tossed in my MTS sim card, put in my APN settings, and voila! Works like a charm.
Yous are confusing each other. The GSM version is unlocked in the aspect of network compatibility. Meaning you can throw a AT&T/Tmobile sim in it & make calls/data etc. Now the bootloader is locked wich is unlocked with fastboot after installing the adb drivers. The reason for unlocking the bootloader is to flash a recovery image so you can root.

You don't need to flash a new recovery to root. That's what makes the Nexus-phones so awesome. You can boot them from code hosted outside the phone, be it for development-purposes, recovery-purposes, or like for most people, rooting.
Otherwise not debating your point. But this is a common misconception, so I thought I'd correct it.
every GSM version are not sim-locked
My first one from O2 was unlocked. The two warranty replacements from the same shop were locked. Go figure.

I bought my phone from Bell and it came unlocked (in terms of cellular connectivity, not bootloader)

WRONG. Some European carriers sim lock their GSM Galaxy Nexus. Plenty of threads about it and people getting unlock pins.

Tmobile note 3 bootloader

Ok so it's been a while since I've had a samsung. Last one was a nexus on verizon. I had a RAZR for several years now I have an s4 I picked up cheap. I want to switch to tmobile but I can't find any phones with an unlockable bootloader. I can't find a single thread how to do it yet I see custom kernel threads everywhere. Is the note 3 bootloader unlockable? I don't want to switch and not be happy.
Thanks

The bootloader is not locked on tmobile note 3 phones.
Does it come factory locked and needs to be unlocked or does it come from tmobile fully unlocked?

The phone is completely unlocked. I had no issues with bootloaders with android 4.3 or 4.4. The only thing, if you are planning on rooting your device the chances are that you will trip the Knox counter and that will void your warranty, if you care. There have been some methods to not trip Knox but I already tripped mine so I have not explored that option. I really love the phone and the options root/custom Roms provides.

Thanks for the reply that is great news. I miss messing with kernels and radios and such as I did on my nexus. I rooted this busted s4 I'm on now with safe root supposed to not trip knox. After if replace the screen I'll sell it and buy a note 3 and switch over.

Unlock code

My tmobile s4 is rooted with custom rom. I have 3 phones in my family plan. I got unlock got for all three phones. The unlock code worked for two phones which are stock. But the unlock code didnt work on mine. Is it because my phone is rooted? Does it matter whether the phone is rooted or not while unlocking?
It shouldnt matter if its rooted or not.

Verizon bootloader

I bought my pixel XL full retail. Can I get Verizon to unlock my bootloader? I am still on 7.1 so if not I can still unlock the other method. I was just wondering

Verizon will not unlock your bootloader. Never. Ever.

S20+ unlocked on verizon

Will I have problems if I got the unlock phone straight from Samsung or I should get the one for Verizon?
I'm going to Europe this summer and need to use a different sim

If you buy the US model you should be fine. Verizon put a temporary carrier lock, but is it only for 30 days or so?
That is what I was thinking. Was not sure. Thx
