What does everybody think about the Nokia X2?
It seems (even) more heavily skinned, with a Windows Phone app menu, and WP-like multitasker.
On the other hand, they have returned the Android Settings and Notifications drop down menu to their ROM.
Also, the older Nokia X, X+ and XL aren't getting the new X Software Platform 2.0, but I'm sure the Stock Google KitKat roms made by the excellent devs here will fulfil the upgrade requirements of these users - so they won't be left in the cold like WP7 and MeeGo users in the past :good:

But how to apply these skins.

I have an Sprint HTC Snap (S511) and need some help installing these.
Thanks!
each device is different for install, i found how to install on Wizard and Hermes in the Wiki's, or just search 'how to change splash' (or bootscreen) with your devices code name after it, using the search feature.
I will post some tutorials soon, but it isvery easy on most devices using the app, it flashes the new splash.. just like flashing but waaay quicker and easier.
tuts for some phones I have done it on coming with my next set soon.
Cooks, feel free to use, or request customization (cooks only).
thanks guys
can you help me on how to install them on the Pantech Matrix Pro? Or is there a general app that i could use for installing them?
Thanks

While you may not want to hack your Froyo smartphone to install the semi-wonky Gingerbread keyboard, there's a much more tame mod you can now download directly from the Android Market. MoDaCo's Paul O'Brien -- who did a stint here at Download Squad -- has released the Gingerbread Launcher.
It's a snap to install; just grab the Launcher from the Market (the QR code is after the break), install it, and then tap your home button. You can then choose to make the Gingerbread Launcher the default action.
Paul says the Launcher is "kinda obese," but promises to trim it down to size in a future update. If you've got a little room to spare on your device, go ahead and load it up. So far on my HTC Incredible it's been bug free and looks pretty darn snazzy. "

It does look pretty nice...I'm running it right now, but still trying to figure it out....It's not Launcher Pro though!
hmmm, not a huge difference really, the icons are a little snazzier but I don't like the app drawer as much, seems a little sluggish compared to the stock 2.2.
Blogging site Xanga just released an app and it's not accessible for anything running 3.0+. As soon as I open the app, I get this.

Is there any way of "tricking" the app into thinking I'm running 2.3 or something? I've spoken to the developer and he said they only had 2.3 devices to test with so until they get something newer, they aren't looking into it. Any thoughts?

Tell them to download 4.0 simulator... crazy replied from the developer
I told them to root their phones and install an ICS rom.

I've found that most developers are pretty good with updating their apps for new versions. Right before the Galaxy Nexus came out I remember my phone/tablet grabbing tons of updates, and usually the update notes would say "Android 4.0 compatibility added".
But there are some developers who have either abandoned their apps completely, or just don't see the need to invest in keeping their apps updated and in tip-top shape. It's a shame, because I feel a lot of them are primarily interested in iOS, and ported their stuff over because of the demand for Android versions, but then don't really think investing their time into the Android version is worth their while.
All a part of the ecosystem I guess. Good thing about Android is that if an app isn't coded to work properly or gets abandoned, there are usually quite a few alternatives.
I made an Android boot animation fading in & out through all the pics from android developers / kitkat.
So Cupcake to KitKat, I love KitKats...

Yup,can confirm black screen.
You should learn how to resize pictures with out completely screwing up the aspect ratio on them. Every one of those images is horizontally deformed.

It's kew. Honestly, I shared that I was making one on plus, and after 100+ pluses and a ton of comments, I wanted to produce a working version for everyone and "perfect" in time.

Nice concept

A few weeks back I took my first foray into rooting my phone and quickly went onto flashing my first rom (Cyanogen 10.2 for Virgin Mobile Epic 4g touch.) I created a backup of my original phone OS ( which when reloaded now goes into a boot loop) however the reason I originally left it was so i could get software that would work as slick as possible with the hardware and Cyan 10.2 does that except for the Data which has fallen by the wayside as the Dev gets on with real life.
I then went to flash Cyan 10.1 as i figured it would be a lot more stable and have the kinks Ironed out. Unfortuneatley I cant even get it to install properly as the the android symbol keels over and dies indicating an install issue before the Rom can even be put on the device. So I'm looking to see if anyone has a Rom that works as flawlessly as possible any ideas?
Don't know what your style is, but here are 4 of the best/most updated TouchWiz ROMs out there. You want everything to work, so TouchWiz is the only way to go on this device.

There is no BEST and yet they are all the BEST. Members are expected to research and read through the Development threads. The only thing you will get here is a list of all the ROM's because every member has found what is best for them. You can get the same list by looking at the first few pages in development.
Thread closed.
Have a great day!
