[Q] Nav/Soft Bar Re-ordering - Paranoid Android Q&A

I see lots of threads and questiona related to theming (colors, etc) and hiding the soft/nav bar, however I simply want to re-order the icons.
is there a way to accomplish this in PA 4.4 RC2? (hammerhead)
Are there alternative options outside the ROM?
I appreciate any advice anyone might have RE setting up a custom order in the Nav Bar! Thanks!:good:

So...
Did I forget to RTFM or is this an impossible request?

Not possible in the ROM. You can try xposed but we don't accept bug reports from xposed users and we can't troubleshoot issues with xposed because we don't support it.

Thanks for the reply and that is certainly a fair position to take. Appreciate the reply none the less. :good:
Any chance this is on the horizon, or is this not an area PA will get into?

We have no plans of customizing the navbar in this fashion

[REQ] Port of WhiteMochi to Froyo/ACS.

My first post...been lurking around for a while.
I feel like this would probably be pretty simple for someone who knew more about what to do.
I tried flashing the zip, then tried using reframe.sh (through android terminal emulator) to reboot into just the framework, then tried editing the framework-res.apk by adding files and moving files to match other Froyo framework-res.apk files...but all of those things failed.
I didn't really anticipate my actions would have the desired effect, but I was trying.
I don't know what would have to be done. If it's simple and someone would be willing to update this for Froyo, I'd appreciate it. I think some others would as well.
In addition, if anyone could point me in the direction of some learning material for this kind of stuff, not just how to theme but also maybe some development guides for beginners, I would appreciate that as well.
Then I could just do this type of thing myself in the future.
Here's the link to an xda thread with WhiteMochi v0.003: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843204
Thanks in advance.
Think alot of themers on the Epic prolly got their start here using Dream's guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821638
Good luck man!
I'll do it.
Do you want the clear notication bar or the solid one?
I would like the solid one, if you could. Thanks a ton.
And thanks to both of you. Definitely gonna check out that guide.

Haha I didn't. But a good guide never hurts.
Do you want the lockmod installed along side?
What exactly do you mean by the lockmod?
My current rom uses the AOSP lockscreen by default so it shouldn't be an issue, right?

I meant maddoggins lockmod for EC05. It includes 6 different locks.
Oh, no. I tried to install it but was having issues getting it to work.
The one straight from the lockmod thread didn't work (FC when trying to view Lockscreen Settings), I found a working version in the framework included with the Nebula rom/theme but didn't like the status bar.
I was under the impression the WhiteMochi just used the AOSP, or were you asking for another reason?

Haha I can make you a version of nebula with a different colored notification bar if you'd like.
I'm sure it uses the AOSP lock. I was just asking if you wanted me to implement the 6 lock.
If you could get the 6lock in with the Mochi that'd be sweet, but it's not necessary for me.
Would be a huge plus though, hahah.
Still looking for anyone willing to possibly port this over to Froyo/SRF.
I'm mainly just looking for a white status bar without a gaudy notification pulldown and attractive icons.
I tried FrostPort v1.2 but personally disliked the status bar icons (all of them).
I noticed that the Galaxy Prevail (the new prepaid Boost Android phone) has a nice white framework, so even a port of that would be killer.
I read up on theming and I have a basic understanding of what to do, it doesn't seem overly difficult. Only issue with me is that I work 5-6 days a week long hours so I don't always have time to devote to studying up/getting in practice...especially as of late.
I have two days off coming up which I'll most likely wind up devoting the bulk of to learning how to theme (devoted my last two days off to my phone as well...don't know how to feel about that).
In the meantime, however...once again...if anyone is up to the task, have at it. I would appreciate it, and I know others would too.
I'd like to see this theme... Where can I see screen shots of the original theme? I have no knowledge of Android Theming or anything. But if there's a pretty good guide, and by pretty good I mean something that will SHOW me how to do it, then I could give it a try. But I'm more visual so a walk through that's text only won't help.
This seems like its AOSP straight to the bone seriously just use the AOSP ROM, whats honestly different?
When trying to flash it via Clockwork it says "Amend script was disabled in this version" or some such thing, and then says "Installation Aborted".
Using reframe.sh causes the phone to not boot (sticks on boot anim).

[Q] Any way to add these to stock ROM through mods?

I would like to have a T9 Dialer, customizable Quick Settings toggles, battery percentage icon, and a kill all button in the Recent Apps menu.
I'm basically wanting a stock-ish ROM with a few tweaks from custom ROMs. I know that at this point maybe I should make a custom ROM for myself, but from what I understand you need to know how to code, and I don't know.
I just want something simple without confusing menus that some custom ROMs have with too many options (with all due respect to every dev out there).

before doing anything i would advise you to read the stickies by efrant on general.
browse the rom threads on the dev section for your variant, and see what you like. there's some pretty minimalistic roms, very close to stock. try them out and choose for yourself.
or you could just have browsed the "Themes and Apps" section...it has all the mods.. it's actually kinda surprising you didn't find it..oh wait, right.

I checked the stickies just now, but didn't find anything relevant to my case... Or maybe I just missed it.
And yes I know, I tried a few ROMs already that are stock like, but they seems to always have something I don't want or missing something I want. And I found a few of the mods I mentioned already I think, like the Quick Settings toggles, but I couldn't find the rest, so no need to be arrogant.
"Customizable Quick Settings toggles" and "kill button to recent app menu" are features which are actually pretty IMPOSSIBLE to add into Stock Google's Android ROM.
Customize-able quick settings porting from e.g. SlimROMs to CM is pretty hard.
It would take over 2 years to get half of customize-able quick settings into Stock ROM by editing .smali files.
If you want those 2 features then you don't have any other choice than to use AOSP ROM, I didn't like Custom ROMs but when I made my ROM from CyanogenMod sources I just loved to CM and now I really like CM even when I miss stock Android.
arrogant? who knows?
on the other hand, if you already tried it ALL, and don't like any, i advise you to start building from source. it's what i and a few others do. smalli editing...why, when we can build from source?

It wouldn't take 2 years to modify .smali files. All you need is the same apk/jar(s) with and without the mod. Then you can decompile to get the .smali and see all of the differences with a program like beyond compare. Then you just make the changes into the stock apk/jar. The hard part is getting the same exact apk/jar with and without the mod (you could build from source, add the mods, and build again...but at that point, you may as well use your AOSP rom you learned to build). I do not think anything is impossible by smali edits, just harder to find the exact changes in 'smali' format (no github for those ).
I actually wouldn't mind building from source. That would get me a ROM that would be exactly what I need, which is pretty awesome.
But the question is, do I need to know how to code? Unless it's very basic stuff, I don't know how to code. How would I proceed with all this? Can someone get me a reliable source of information?

I did... Just that at the time, I wasn't searching for things related to building ROMs. If you directed me there because of that, sorry, I misunderstood then.
Anyway, those links only talk about building from source... So how would I add the stuff I mentioned like T9 Dialer and Kill All button and such? And where can I find those?
Dig in that thread!!!! Damn it, if you don't even know how to build from source or haven't even made an effort to, why do you want to know how to cherry pick and Kang the work of others? Read that thread, there's a lot of info in there.

[ROM][I317/t0lteatt][KitKat/4.4.4][UNOFFICIAL]CarbonROM[Final](11/22/2014)

I have decided to build an Unoffical build of CarbonROM specifically for the t0lteatt/Samsung Galaxy Note 2 I317. Information about CarbonROM can be found in the official thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2640030 or at the CarbonROM website at https://carbonrom.org/. This is just a build from the official source at https://github.com/CarbonDev with a few of my own edits to allow it to build for the t0lteatt device tree. If you have any questions, or issues, please post them here, or try the official build available at the CarbonROM website at https://carbonrom.org/downloads/?d=t0lte/nightly. I am not a developer or maintainer, but I will try to assist you with any errors you may encounter.
I would just like to say thank you to Team Carbon for developing such a great ROM, everyone who have contributed to the project, and all other great projects which may have a part in making the ROM what it is.
Flashing instructions:
Download both the ROM and a GAPPs (I use PA Gapps, but other GAPPs such as Slim Gapps will likely work as well)
Reboot into recovery.
Full wipe: Wipe cache, dalvik, wipe data/factory reset, clean to install a new rom.
Flash ROM and GAPPs.
Reboot into system.
Enjoy your new Carbon experience.

Carbon is a top pick of mine for AOSP...
Many thanks for building this....g

Unable to flash also on twrp 2.8.0.0 and 4.3 bootloader

I haven't been able to find any definitive reports of problems with flashing from TWRP 2.8. I use Philz and haven't had any issues with flashing this, or any other ROM. Have you had this issue with any other ROM? Have you tried flashing the official t0lte CarbonROM? My only other thought, right off hand, is to try a different recovery, but I know that isn't always such a good option. I'll keep an eye out for a solution and I'll let ya know if I find anything. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Have a good one!
This ROM is fantastic! On the official builds any theme would cause my System UI to crash multiple times, but not this one!
If you're looking for any requests/suggestions, I have a few:
-Search in Settings
-Disable Menu and Back button haptic feedback when they are disabled (I like it on the navigation bar)
-The battery icon doesn't seem to want to work with Tinted Status Bar Fix: Use Flat Style Colored Bars
-Apps like Reddit Sync don't take account for the navbar, and have the comments behind it, keeping me from reading/interacting
I think that's it! Thank you so, so, much for getting me a great daily driver!
I cant remember if it has an option or not but the ringtone only rings once then vibrated till i pick up i want it to ring always is there and option

Thanks for that synopsis. One of the main reasons I stopped using carbon was because of system ui crashing. About the boot this piece up! Thanks!

Carbon source bug I believe...
Try downloading a ringtone of your choice using zedge...or any other free ringtone app....then set your new tone under settings...
That should fix you up...
I usually delete the on board tones anyway...since most of the choices are rather plain to me...
Good luck....g

Looks like this may be a one off build. Team Carbon is currently working on porting Lollipop to their various devices, so they've put a code freeze on any KitKat commits other than bug fixes. Only 4 merges were made prior to the code freeze, but these merges don't seem to be overly important for our devices, so they'd likely not be noticeable even if a new build was made. Also, there are reports that subsequent changes to repositories may have broke the build for KitKat, at this time, anyways (I can probably fix this in my build, if necessary). I'll keep an eye on gerrit for any useful bug fixes being merged, but until that happens (if it happens), I'll likely not do anymore builds for KitKat.
Have a good one!
I guess I was wrong about a one off... My final unofficial build of CarbonROM has been uploaded. Admittedly, this build is a minimal update and you may not notice any obvious changes, but there may be some changes behind the scenes that may correct an obscure issue, or not. As always, if you have any issues from a dirty flash, please try a clean flash before asking for help. Thank you.

It would appear that this is supposed to be a "feature" included by Google. In order to remove the "feature", Google's devs would need to decide to remove it. There's been a fair few theories on how to disable the "feature", but none of them seem to actually work, so it would seem if we decide to continue using Chrome, we'll have to deal with it for now.

I just used xfloatingwindows from xposed and black listed chrome and it seemed to work. One more question and I think I've got everything all set. At first I set an app to open when I swipe it left in the notification panel. How do I disable that feature? Overall this ROM is pretty damn smooth, I like it a lot

Lollipop Xposed Finally!!

Which is great, but none of the modules work for me. I know it's in alpha, so there's work to do. Some reports of bootloops, but a lot of users appear to be having a perfect ride. I had no problem installing the zip and then the APK, and I gave it root access just fine. It's just that no mods work.
I'm asking here if anyone has had success on the G3. Maybe there's something unique to our device that makes it glitchy. There are a lot of Nexus and other devices having a good go. Here's a screen shot with the mods I loaded. Yeah, I know Lollipop has Smart Lock, but that's been hit or miss for me, so I tried the xposed mod for that.
Any G3's rocking xposed? If so, did you do anything different than is outlined in the OP?

There are no G3 "rocking" xposed. It's only a first alpha release, meant for people who know java, art and xposed and are able and willing to help Rovo debug it on various phones.
Simply put, it doesn't work yet. Wait for a stable release.

Sorry of "rocking" rubbed you the wrong way. What if I asked if anyone was wearing xposed like a boss? Rovo didn't present is as something to be tested by a select few here or on Google+. It is more like: You've been waiting for this, and here it is. It's in alpha, so you might well see glitches. Give it a try.
I'm not saying he was careless with his presentation. I'm saying Rovo didn't intend for this to be an underground test specifically for those proficient with Java and art.
I've been on discussion board for ten years or so, and I've always had the problem of using too many words to ask a simple question. In this case it's: Has anyone got xposed to work with a G3 on Lollipop?

Sorry, my bad, i misunderstood you.
Yeah, it's working, as good as alpha should. Both on cm12 and stock 20h. However, it conflicts with smart cover and weather services on stock rom, so they have to be frozen or deleted. It also needs selinux to be in permissive mode.
Modules made for user apps (AppSettings, youtube in background, etc) work, modules like cpu frequency or temp in status bar work, coolTool would probably work too.
Massive tweakers, like g3 tweaksbox or gravity box + most framework tweaks (halo, multiwindow, etc etc etc) need massive updates to work on L.
Sorry for being quite ignorant

No beer necessary bruh. If your rooted, just flash a custom rom...DU, Nitrogen, Aquarios, Validus, Carbon, all have LPBTK. If your stock, then I believe there's an app or 2 that will do that as well. :good:
I don't see the need to flash a custom rom anymore, stock is awesome. I don't have bull**** overlays like sense hindering my processes. I root, flash a custom kernel add adway and I call it good.
I looked and none of them specificed back to kill. I will look again.

I've run both DU and Aquarios. Your correct in that they don't specify the LPBTK. However, if you see, the smart bar with fling by DU mentioned, that gives you the ability to do just that
I'm running AquariOS right now and other than the lack of edge squeeze, there is zero reason Not to run a custom rom. It is very tight and running as good or better because I need less goofing around to make it exactly like I want. And yes the LPTK works very well. I can't imagine ever going back to stock unless I need to clean up for another ROM.

The reason why is that Google says it will mess with Google app and 3rd party app functionality. That's what they've said before
