Screen shuts off when device gets a little warm - HTC One X

I got this White HTC One X from a friend who dropped it in the waters.
It boots up just fine, the digitizer works, as well as... partially... the screen
Now i got the data from it, so mission accomplished in terms of data loss. He gave it to me for free so i rooted it with the bad screen.
So now i have this rooted phone running latest stock ROM.
The screen's brightness is too low even though the brightness settings is set to maximum. After a hellova lot of testing i found out that when the device is cold, the brightness increases when i turn the screen on. And when the processor is running (ie opening an app, or rendering animations), the screen's brightness starts to get lower and lower until it just completely shuts off.
What i did was put it in the freezer to make it REALLY cold, and it works just fine for like 5 minutes until the CPU gets hot again and the screen turns black.
I tore it down, and changed the screen, but the problem is still there, so it must be some part of the motherboard.
I won't change all the motherboard because honestly i don't want to spend that much money on something older than my nexus 4
So if anyone can tell me what part exactly is responsible for the brightness IN THE MOTHERBOARD, so that i can find a way to keep it cold, it'll be very much appreciated.
PS: I can see and control everything from PC too when the screen shuts off... so i can still practically try and do anything with it. Also, the actual LCD screen is cracked and black on it's right and bottom half, and it's currently "half open" (ie i can see the Nvidia CPU, and the vibration motor under the screen)

[Q] Epic takes 12+ seconds to wake, possible water damage?

I may have had a little incident with my Epic where I jumped into a river with it in my pocket..
Now it takes about 10+ seconds to wake.
It actually barely got wet (I didn't completely submerge the phone, and realized what I had done in less than half a second), there was definitely moisture in between the keyboard and screen though. I immediately pulled out the battery and the Florida sun had it completely dry in 30 minutes.
Since then it takes forever to wake. there are no other issues whatsoever that are noticeable, and if the phone is actively doing anything in the background with the screen off (playing music, streaming music, installing stuff, or plugged in) it wakes instantly.
Also if the screen is off and its not doing anything (when usually it would take 10 seconds to wake) and I plug it in before waking it, it will crash and reboot 80% of the time.
annnd if I slide open the phone while its being slow, the keyboard back light will be turned on, though I still wait 10 seconds for the wake.
Running SyndicateRom (latest version), and I have re-installed it freshly, no help.
I have not reset the phone completely where I would have to redo clockwork mod yet. I would have to backup heavily to do that and I have been putting it off thinking it wouldn't help anyway
Any insight guys?
Also, I have SetCPU, and I have made sure that the minimum clock speeds weren't too low, and have jacked them up to 400+mhz even once, and it still would not wake for 10 seconds.
weird thing is that even at that setting, I would still see the speed dip to 100mhz. I know my way around the overclocking software, and I do know it was set properly. Does this happen to others?
Water damaged...
If you remove the battery and look on the opposite side of contact leads, there will be a white sticker, if it's red, then that indicates water damage. Taking it in for repair/replacement at the sprint store will result in charges to you due to it being your fault. YMMV tho
If not, then take it in for replacement/repairs, if you have TEP or under the 1yr manufactures warranty. YMMV also on charges.
Also might want to backup then return to a stock ROM to verify that the issue is hardware related or not.

LED Flash heats up to unconfortable levels!

Hey Folks,
I was using an app today called "instant heart rate", and i noticed that my LED flash get's uncomfortably warm when i touch it! I have used this app many times before with my older galaxy phones, and i never had any issues with a hot led, i could keep my finger on it as long as i wanted and it never got hot, only slightly warm. However with the optimus G, i noticed that within seconds the the LED get's scorching hot to the touch!
Has anyone else noticed this on your devices? If you turn on your camera flash, and you touch it with your finger firmly in place, does it get too hot to hold comfortably in place for more then 10 - 20 seconds?
I'm wondering if the glass design of the back is acting as a heatsink for the LED and what i'm feeling is the instant heat transfer from the LED, wheras with a plastic device like a galaxy phone, the heat is confined to the PCB and is not directly transmitted to the back cover.
Can you guy's check and report back. You can use any app, like torch, or camera. I only mentioned instant heart rate because the app requires you to touch the camera and flash for it to work.
Tried it, it is getting hot... to hot to hold it.
But then, It is a light...!
My one is ok. I mean it gets hot, but still i can touch it.
Mine gets pretty hot, but I can still touch it.
I accidentally left it running once for a few hours and nothing happened, it was still fine so looks like there's no need to worry.

[SOLVED] Black Screen Issue

Hi. I am not sure this is the BSOD problem that others have had.
I bought a second hand i747. It came with 4.3. It will work fine for a few minutes when first turned on, then the screen will go dark. The menu and back buttons stay lit, and the touchscreen still works, the LCD just cuts off.
If I hit the power button, it sleeps the phone. When I hit again, the screen will come on, but only for about 5 seconds, then it's black again. Everything works, just black screen.
Is it possible for it to overheat or something? It doesn't feel hot at all, but if I turn it off and leave it for awhile, it will again work for about 2-3 minutes, then only about 5 seconds at a time again.
I swapped batteries, and it's the same. The battery had pink on it. I opened it up, and none of the other stickers showed water exposure, and the board itself was clean.
It has stock 4.3, and is not rooted.
I did go to phone settings and turned off the "darken screen during calls" checkbox.
I am wondering if the proximity sensor heats up and shuts the screen off. Grasping at straws I suppose.
Any idea of how to fix this?
Thanks
Perhaps a bad capacitor in the digitizer/lcd assembly? My TV had an issue with a bad capacitor that would cause the screen to blank out after a few minutes???

I'll try swapping boards in it later, and maybe at least narrow down if it's the board or the screen assembly. I have an extra proximity sensor I could swap, but it doesn't seem like it's that to me.
thanks, will post more after the board swap
Update: I switched boards (different carriers), and I could not replicate the problem in either phone. I had hoped that would show that either the board or the LCD assembly was bad, but I didn't learn anything useful either way.
I put the boards back in their respective bodies. It still happens now, but not as often. It also appears to be totally random. I did switch batteries in the problem phone, and it doesn't seem as bad. I will try another battery switch and see if that helps it more.
When the screen goes dark, the menu and back buttons are lit. When it went out last night, I could see that there was still some faint background light that I can't see in the day. I pulled up Youtube and did a video, and when the screen went dark, I could still see movement, but couldn't make anything out. So, the phone is still going in the background.
If I push the power button, it sleeps, then push it again, and it wakes up just fine. Sometimes I have to do that 4 or 5 times for the screen to stay on. Sometimes it goes dark after 10 minutes of use, sometimes a half hour, sometimes just a few.
Any help is appreciated.
Well, right before throwing the phone into the wall, I noticed a partially removed liquid exposure indicator. I pulled the phone apart to check the motherboard.
In the process of taking it apart, I forgot to take out the SD card. In so doing, it pulled the sim/sd card module off the motherboard. Low and behold, there was a very light corrosive glaze in a few spots under the module.
So, I got out the 99% IPA, and a toothbrush, and cleaned the whole entire board. Since then, it seems to be working fine.
I don't know exactly what part getting cleaned fixed it, because I just cleaned the whole board.
Anyways, maybe that'll help someone with inexplicable issues downstream.
Thanks for following up with how you fixed the problem. In retrospect, water damage makes sense.
I dropped a Captivate into an ice chest full of melted water last year. I immediately pulled it out and the phone was mostly okay for a while but then the microphone didn't seem to work so well and occasionally the right third of the screen wouldn't respond to touch until I cycled the screen on and off. The water damage sticker and phone interior showed no signs of water.
I will probably sell the old captivate but with full diclosure about the history. Would have been nice if the seller had done the same for you.

Thanks, I should have thought of it sooner, but it didn't seem to have any signs of water damage otherwise.
I ordered the 99% IPA online, because I couldn't find any locally. It works wonders with previously wet boards. You might be able to bring it back.

Galaxy tab s 8.4 t-700 lcd screen issues

Hi, maybe someone have encouter similar issue and have and could comfirm if there could be anything else i could do except replacing whole lcd+touch, which cost pretty much same as new unit
My my screen is showing some weird artefacts on screen, at first there is not much but its getting worse after few muniutes of use. If i lock and unlock the device i show white light bleed on left side of the screen (first picture) then if i lock again, wait for a while it disappears, but some artefacts and color pixel start to show on left side (second pic). After a while some strong white lines apear, always in the some spot, but if i put down the device for few minutes it desappers. Reattaching battery didn't help, i guess thats not the case. Could this be a faulty LCD connector? Or the screen is dying.. ? Definitly not a software bug, i just upgraded to 6.0 and even in bootloader mode while upgrading there were those two lines (last pic)
What screen brightNess do you use. It's recommended to use 20% to avoid screen burn in

Hmm.. since i usually use the tablet in bright locations its probably set to higher then 50%, at least..
There is one more thing, after like 10 minutes of use, almost all the above issues stops, only thing that stays is the "burned like" vertical stripes, barely visible, on about 2/3 of the screen.
I does not make the table unusable but its quite annoying...
could this be affect of screen burn in ?
i think its just a bad screen from a begining cuz i have tab s 8.4 for almost 2 years now and i gave it to my brother for a year and he was in Tenerife...temperatures there are high so i doubt its a screen burn since my tablet is still ok even after one year at Tenerife with probably brightnes always on 100%...just sharing my xperiance cheers guys

screen slowly fading (a bit different case)

If you dont care to reply, dont read. except moderator ofcourse.
tl;dr- screen black. not overheat .. touch works. even after black fading to complete black..d855... no paper/eraser/microwave stupidity..
Before you say its a common thing and is a repeat topic, let me tell you right away, its not..
Description-- D855.
phone screen goes off, more like fades away like some screwed up crt(i can see it going black from the sides and then slowly the whole screen)
when it happens -- anytime. at any moment.
what all i tried-- none. i find the paper logic stupid. i believe that if its such a bad processor, i might as well throw it away and buy anew one. i dont think its cpu problem..
why i think its not a cpu problem-- bcoz my touchscreen works perfectly even when device is fading. in fact at times when i lock and unlock again, all gets back to normal. no temperature related behaviours. it can happen even in a freezer. when it doesnt light up(the screen), phone still remains usable. i infact unlock the device with swipe up and go on home screen and i know where music icon is, and i click and then play cyanogenmod music player ((so use its viper4android even if screen is screwed).
no one mentioned whether during black screen the touch and all were working or not. mine is... so i feel its either the screen unit or the wire that connects it.
woyld really appreciate a proper answer if anyone could help me with this. i mean the word 'proper'/.. if any extra details needed, let me know, i will update. i just wanna pinpoint the thing thats causing the issue so that i can get part replaced if not super expensive. thanks.
PS- my battery has red indicator. like real bad since 3 months or something after it got in contact with water/. no device damage though. last time when it turned red, phone simply used to reboot randomly bcoz of low power for device to consume, but never used to look like some CRT screen slowly fading to black from sides crap.. so yeah.. thanks again
i think its the battery
