Hi Guys,
I have the one x, Optoma pk301, MHL adapter and the required HDMI cable. Got the connection all set up but I'm unable to get a display on the projector. Are there any settings in the phone that i have to change/switch on to display on an external screen?
Thanks
Mine worked right out of the box. I used a Galaxy SII adapter. As soon as i connected HDMI, charger and phone, it switched to landscape mode and the picture showed up on the tv.
As far as i am aware, there are no settings on the phone to enable/disable MHL.
Did you plug the USB to charge ? It says no power > no video
Im using this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Smart-Adapter-Galaxy-Mobile/dp/B005MR82GA
Its working now. Was displaying a red X before. Didn't do anything other than just unplug and re plug everything
Can you tell me if I play movie on my TV by mhl cable, does it shows external subtitles (.srt)? And, can hox play movie on TV with phone screen of during.

"Micro USB to HDMI® MHL Adapter - Black" - quick review
I just received the MHL adapter from MonoPrice, about $10 US:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10833&cs_id=1083314&p_id=8805&seq=1&format=2
The product description implies some phones can power the MHL adapter, with the One X you must supply power via a micro-USB charger. Be forewarned, the load may be a little higher than what some phone chargers can deliver; my EVO 4G charger would shut off after about 10 seconds, an old Nexus One charger worked fine.
Output is 1280x720 60Hz (should auto-adjust to the TV, don't have a PAL display here to confirm this). The Samsung HDTV was set to "Just Scan", meaning no scaling is done by the TV.
The resultant HDTV image is underscanned by about 35 pixels on each side, 20 pixels on top and bottom, resulting in a display area of 1210x680. I think this is a problem with the One X GPU drivers, and not the adapter because I doubt a simple device like this can do any scaling. At CES, I played with a few Transformer Primes running Shadowgun Multiplayer, mirrored to HDTVs at 1280x720, and there was no underscan, so this is likely not be a limitation of Tegra 3 GPU.
I got the red X once (displayed on the TV), afterwards it would not mirror the display to the TV until reset, so the connection handshaking is kinda finicky. I've been plugging the micro-USB power last, after the phone and the HDMI is connected and the phone is powered on. Sense should flip into landscape immediately, if not, something is wrong. If you power on after everything is connected, you should see the lock screen in portrait for a couple seconds, then it'll rotate. Sense works surprisingly well in landscape, I'm surprised that HTC didn't allow this mode without an MHL adapter connected.
There is a slight performance hit on the One X when display mirroring is active:
GLBenchmark 2.1.4, native display:
Egypt Standard: 48 fps
Pro Standard: 54
GLBenchmark 2.1.4, HDMI mirrored:
Egypt Standard: 42 fps
Pro Standard: 52 fps
If you want to demo a One X, play Shadowgun THD on a HDTV, it looks absolutely amazing. You are "playing blind" on a touchscreen, but once you get a feel for turning and shooting (right thumb), it's pretty easy. Ideally, this setup is screaming for a game controller, but I haven't come across a thread about this yet for the One X. Support for analog sticks has been in the OS since 3.1, so the keymapping utilities on the Market shouldn't be necessary, but I need to look into this further.
Note: the images were taken of the HDTV using a point-and-shoot and scaled to 720p, so you can see the degree of underscan (the unfiltered decimation is very visible in the fonts).

The TV is full HD, the phone passes 720p through the adapter, looks like it's a direct mirror.

Everything you see on the phone is mirrored on the TV. If you are watching a movie with subtitles on the phone, you will obviously see them on the TV.
My best experience so far watching 720p & 1080p has been with MX Player, but a lot of people also use Dice and Mobo.
That was not the case with my sgs and tv out and as far as I know with sgs2 tv out via mhl. It's mirroring everything but subtitles.
hi i have two days htc one x and have two hdmi cable to tv but same result no signal what i do wrong i use this one please helpme
I bought a MHL adapter from Mobilefun and I get the phone picture on a my PC monitor, with a little pixel loss as described by rasterX.
However I tried looking at a video I recorded with the HOX. I played the recording using the stock player and MX player.
In both cases, the playback is too fast on HDMI, it's like pushing a fast forward button.
With MX player I tried the different options (hardware/software): hardware is too fast, software is variable: complex pictures are too slow to display, less complex pictures are shown faster but since the display time changes according to the picture, the software playback is useless.
I tried two different PC monitors, one is Philips with a DVI-HDMI adapter, the other a DELL with a direct HDMI input, results are the same for both. I'm in a 50Hz country (France) if ever this can have a side effect...
Anyone has similar issues with MHL?
I tried my Samsung MHL adapter and it worked. My TV resolution is 1366x768.
When I connect all cables (inclusing power of course) I get portrait screen on my TV. As soon as I play movie or game, it goes landscape. When back to homescreen, it's portrait. No issues in Diceplayer or MX Player. Worked in HW and Software. Software mode allows to see subtitles on TV.
Sound only out of one channel
I only seem to be getting audio out of the left channel. I've tried 2 MHL adapters, and 2 different HDMI cables with 2 different TVs.
What's going on!?

I'm having the same problem, only left channel is working on TV over mhl adapter and if I plug headphones in one x 3.5 mm jack it is OK. I tried BS PLAYER and MX PLAYER.
Same symptom here!

I have MHL cable for Note 1 and don't work for Note II cable. Why? Change the compatibility?

This is because the new MHL connector (on the S3 and Note 2) is the 11 pin type. What does this mean?
It means you can simultaneously have TV out AND USB Host.
So what does THAT mean? It means you can have TV out via HDMI to your tv and also connect a USB Hub to it and have mouse + keyboard + external drive. Congrats, your phone is suddenly also a Smart TV box.

I can confirm that the Galaxy S3 MHL adaptor I bought locally in Singapore works fine with the Note 2. Only problem is that the image on the TV seems to be slightly cropped, such that only 1/4 of the notification bar is visible. Has anyone experienced this as well?

Overscan on the TV. Not a Note 2 issue, tis a TV one. Depending on the TV you may be able to correct it by:
Changing the display type (widescreen, zoomed, etc)
Turning off overscan in the normal menu
Turning off overscan in the service menu (getting to this is TV specific)
In for link to best cheapest MHL cable that works on GN2. Also, is it possible for the GN2 to play content on MHL out while displaying something else in the actual phone? Like the video out feature of the LG Optimus G "Dual Screen/Dual Play" (demo of feature @ 3:38)?
The cheapest MHL cable that works on the GN2 is the one you already have, paired with a HDTV adapter tip from samsung (http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EPL-FU10BEBSTD) I haven't seen any 3rd party ones yet.
I want to know if the Note 2 is able to playback a 1080p mkv file and output it in the same quality (1080p) to my hdmi tv.

If you have netflix and have the bandwidth to stream HD, could you please compare the quality of the video from the note 2 outputted to the TV, and from your PC to the TV.
Is the quality same as same from both players? or is the PC quality greater than the Note 2?

Hi Purchased from Amazon UK (seller was Amazon)http://http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0051D3KKI/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 actual price £23.55 but now looks like Amazon have suspended that item until they review a complaint, suggest you keep an eye on that link.
Surprised No has been able to answer my question regarding BT trackball!!!
If its a BT track ball I would think it will hook up just fine, same way a BT mouse would.
Just to let you know if you are in the UK with a HMV store nearby you can get these for £10. Picked up a couple last week.

Hi which one do you have, how do you connect it to the tablet, I assume its just Bluetooth no dongle, thanks.:good:
Simple the original one:
http://www.amazon.de/PlayStation-Du...HY/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1362585611&sr=8-10
bought it when it was on amazon for 35€ incl. shipping!!! nice deal i thought. I do connect it with the app "sixaxxis" (bluetooth). Requires root though, but pretty nice app. Now i can play all the games of my childhood: zelda (oot, n64), tekken (psx) without the need to install the damn ugly consoles in my living room .. thats just awesome!!
After installing the app I noticed that you can emulate a mouse. That is very useful to me for streaming movies from my server, look something up on imdb and so on with the hdmi adapter...
any more questions? ?

Thanks, not rooted, do not want to go in that direction, so am I correct in assuming you can only connect bt directly to tablet when you root it, otherwise I need a dongle??
So no way of having it connect to bt when using the hdmi adapter, bummer.
Question: Is the HDMI output lag-free, do the homescreens run smooth and is the image quality okay?
I just sent back the wireless allshare adapter because the streamed image has 15FPS when not buffered, the quality is worse than i expected and it ends every multitasking capability of the Note.

Well, keep in mind the ASCD won't mess with the resolution or color depth of the image displayed on the LCD, so if you see video quality issues (bad scaling or graininess or such) it's likely due to what your TV does with the not-quite 720P resolution of the signal from the Note 10.1 (1280x720 isn't a native resolution of most monitors and likely scales it to 1366x768), so I'm betting that the picture via the HDMI hard-wired cable will look the same (on static images) as did the picture from the ASCD.

New 2013 model of HDTV Adapter?
I'm shopping around for an HDTV Adapter for my GT-N8010 at the moment, and I've noticed that several online shops are advertising a new 2013 model - EPL-NPHPBKG.
e.g. - www dot amazon dot com /Original-Samsung-Genuine-EPL-NPHPBKG-EPL-3PHPBEG/dp/B00B8NJ6E4
They claim that it is the next verson of EPL-3PHPBEG (the model that this thread is about). Does anyone know what the difference is? The only thing I can see that might be an improvement is "Simultaneously charge your Galaxy Note 10.1 while streaming". I've seen reports on other threads about their tablet not charging while plugged in to the HDTV adapter. Can you confirm if this functionality exists on your EPL-3PHP?

Ah. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166540
Hi,
I dont know the id of my hdtv adapter but as far as i own it since the early days of my previous tab 10.1 (p7500) I am pretty sure it's the "old" one.
I can confirm the adapter is definetly charging my n8000 while connected to my tv behind the docking station (universal samsung), streaming .mkv from my ubuntu desktop / server machine and being controlley by emulated mouse with my ps3 gamepad (via sixaxxis).
Sure you won't win a speed challange with that configuration but the main point is it is charging. I guess about ~ 2..3 % / 0,5..1,0 h (never did a measurement ) but still charging. Thats pretty nice because sometimes when I come home from university and the battery is nearly empty (sometimes 2 days of usage with a single charge) I plug my note into the docking station, let it charge to 3 or 4 %, turn it on and start streaming. When I end the day and shut down the tv the note is at about ~10% and ready to get charged the whole night.

Looks good!
Update, just purchased apple Magic Trackpad looks like it works on my Tablet, No Dongle just Pin number input for connecting, so in theory I will be able to use it to control Note 10.1 whilst connected via HDMI adapter to TV, will confirm when it arrives this week.
Just received my EPL-3PHPBEG from Expansys. It was not the most expensive, but dirt cheap either. It works. It says it is for the Tab 10. The price on this seems to vary wildly with the cheaper ones (19-25$) all seeming to be out of stock, except today went back to Amazon and the Zeeestmm version now seems to be in stock and going for 29.00$
It works for my purpose - Powerpoint and other document projection. It does need to be powered, and the tab needs to be rebooted at least for the projector to recognize it. So it's working fine on my Tab Note 10.1.
What chaps me about Samsung, it the myriad of numbers and letters, all a bit different, but all seeming to be the same item. I thought it was bad with the phones and tabs, but it is beyond annoying with accessories.

Thanks for the reminder. Probably the image will look not better than before. However, it was not a difficult decision why i sent the Allshare Cast Hub back to amazon. For 60€ it's just to much for what it would have been for me. Ending all MultiWindow possibilities is probably the worst part. Well, with the HDMI cable i won't be able to connect USB anymore .. so everything has pros and cons. For what it offers, the wireless adapter was just too expensive and i was really annoyed that it was never remarked on ANY website i read that it ends multitasking features of the Note 10.1.
I was extremely disappointed in the nexus 10's laggy HDMI out. Anyone know the performance on the nexus 7 now? I hope to play emulators on the television.

I suggested the lag might be because the slimport adapter (according to reviews) is always sending HDCP (encrypted content) even for content that doesn't need to be copy protected.
I don't know for sure if that is the cause, but HDCP can introduce slight delays depending on the equipment.
Some people claim to use HDFury to strip the HDCP and use VGA input on their displays. I presume they feel HDFury can process HDCP faster than their TV can. However, if the issue is on the nexus or slimport adapter side, then HDFury really wouldn't help because the lag already happened.
I don't know if this is the case, just providing info for you to look into.
I suppose one could buy the VGA slimport adapter and test that theory out as VGA doesn't have HDCP.
BTW does anyone know how the always-on HDCP protection is working on these slimport adapters?
Is it
N7(HDCP1)---->(HDCP1)SlimPort(HDCP2)---->(HDCP2)TV
where HDCP1 and HDCP2 are 2 separate encryption/decryption cycles.
or is it
N7(HDCP1)---->(HDCP1)SlimPort(HDCP1)---->(HDCP1)TV
Where HDCP1 is more of a pass-through across the slimport adapter.
I looked at the specs for the slimport transmitter and receiver chips here:
http://www.analogix.com/pdf/ANX7805_PB.pdf
http://www.analogix.com/pdf/ANX7730_PB.pdf
and it seems both transmitter and receiver have HDCP capabilities, so it seems like the first option is a possibility.

I would like to know which Slimport adapter you are using and also your HDMI cable. I just received my analogical Slimport adapter and there is definitely a lag when playing games. Works fine for viewing videos showing pictures, but I have a logitech revue that I can use for that.
I Tried to play some SNES games and the lag made them almost unplayable. Killer instinct and super Mario world were the games I tried. I really hope it's my HDMI cable, but since it works fine with my PS3, then I think it might be the slimport adapter. If that's the case, it really sucks that I wasted $30.

So it appears the TV you use plays a factor. I was originally testing the Slimport adapter with my 32 Inch Phillips LCD TV, model # 32PFL3504D/F7. I went to my bed room and plugged it into my Walmart brand 26 inch ILO TV and to my surprise, I was a able to initiate combos on Killer Instinct with no lag at all.
Not only was it an older seemingly lower grade TV, I was using the lowest grade HDMI cable I had, one I paid $2 for on Amazon. So I took the cable from the ILO TV and went back to the living room to test it with the Philips TV. It produced the same crappy results as my other two High quality HDMI cables.
What I did notice though, is that it wasn't a lag from the nexus 7 2nd gen to the TV but a complete tablet lag. Everything was delayed by a half a second even while looking at the tablet vs looking at the TV. I have no idea why but I have no lag on one TV using my ps3 controller wireless and I have noticeable lag using the same set up on another TV. Also the lag shows on the tablet as well...
Guess it's time for a new living room TV. I wanted to get a bigger screen TV anyway but couldn't justify a reason. Could you tell me what TV you are using?

Thanks man. I was definitely thinking Samsung since they are the leader in electronics right now. I wonder if best buy will allow me to plug my Nexus seven in via slimport adapter to test HDMI performance?
Hi,
I have tested Z1C with both Miracast dongle and MHL cable.
MHL cable is so called 5 PIN cable. The same one that works with Galaxy S2 and HTC One X.
MHL Cable works just fine.
I have also tested Miracast dongle (iPazzport). It connects slowly in Miracast mode. Screen and sound gets transferred to TV very slowly. It is basically unusable. The same dongle works just fine with Asus HD7 tablet.
DLNA mode is not usable either for video. At least not for HD content. It can be used for sound transfer. But it has minor problems also with sound only connections. I have tested with the same iPazzport HDMI dongle and WD HDTV Live box.
Please share your experience.
how is the lag for mhl? i heard some phones get quite a bit of lag.

There is definitely some lag with MHL. I can only express my gut feeling. 50-100 ms, I guess. Is there any good way to measure it?
I am using this adapter:
www.ebay.com/itm/310855110310
I ordered http://www.amazon.com/Decrescent-Adapter-Samsung-Galaxy-Smartphones/dp/B00I5J6WVY
but it will take 2 weeks more to come.
I plan to order the PS3 controller too for gaming on screen, but not sure how it will be with the lag. also not sure if these cheap ps3 controllers will work or i need the original ps3 controller. for wireless of course, not planing to use wired controllers. maybe xbox wireless can work too. testing to come.
For measuring it, the best method is to start the stopwatch and record the TV and the phone's screen with some point and shoot camera, just stop the video later after 10 seconds for example and see the difference between the times.
at least thats what i read around the net ..
MHL lag.
First, tested using timer app in phone. Took pictures containing both mobile and plasma screen.
Out of 13 shots:
0.1 s delay - 9 times
0.2 s delay - 2 times
All the rest, 1 shot had 0.1-0.3 s delay (between TV frames), another had 0 - 0.2 s delay (between TV frames again).
Second test.Used http://vimeo.com/12505989 test video.
My laptop (connected through display port->HDMI) was 100% in sync. Z1C was 2-3 frames late (on 24 fps video).
I would say, it is about 120 ms delay. And it is huge for a cable connection IMHO.
Shame, Sony, shame!!!
My other phone Galaxy S Advance did much better job with DLNA sharing.
Which means that there must be a problem with WiFi (either HW or SW).
I am really disappointed. Way too many problems with a device that was meant to be almost a flagship. I wonder if all those problems also exist with Z1 older brother as well. Or did Sony cut some corners again...
Anyone who could explain why it's necessary to switch wifi off then on again when you activate media sharing (DLNA)?
Say you sit at home, your wifi is on ofc and you like to send a pic or a track to your AVR or TV, then why does it say "please turn on wifi" when you activate media sharing...

How about mirror op sender?
Has anyone tried mirror op sender & mirror op presenter on the xperia z1 compact? Seems rather fast just no audio.
Hi. Should it work with any device that has a HDMI input or it has to be with MHL support. Bought Mhl cable from eBay, phone opens Tv launcher but Nothing comes on TV.

Hi All.
I've got a passive mhl cable (no external power needed), this: http://www.delock.de/produkte/G_83297/merkmale.html?setLanguage=un
What should I do with it to use with my Z1C? I connected them, but nothing on the tv screen . I missed something?
